In this paper we investigate the consistency and consequences of the downward Löwenheim–Skolem–Tarski theorem for extension of the first order logic by the Magidor–Malitz quantifier. We derive some combinatorial results and improve the known upper bound for the consistency of Chang’s conjecture at successor of singular cardinals.  相似文献

In this note, we apply classification results for finite-dimensional Nichols algebras to generalizations of Fomin–Kirillov algebras to complex reflection groups. First, we focus on the case of cyclic groups where the corresponding Nichols algebras are only finite-dimensional up to order four, and we include results about the existence of Weyl groupoids and finite-dimensional Nichols subalgebras for this class. Second, recent results by Heckenberger–Vendramin [ArXiv e-prints, 1412.0857 (December 2014)] on the classification of Nichols algebras of semisimple group type can be used to find that these algebras are infinite-dimensional for many non-exceptional complex reflection groups in the Shephard–Todd classification.  相似文献

Let Ω be a finite set, and let G be a permutation group on Ω. A subset H of G is called intersecting if for any σ, πH, they agree on at least one point. We show that a maximal intersecting subset of an irreducible imprimitive reflection group G(m, p, n) is a coset of the stabilizer of a point in {1, …, n} provided n is sufficiently large.  相似文献

We study the global analytic properties of the solutions of a particular family of Painlevé VI equations with the parameters β=γ=0, δ= and 2α=(2μ-1)2 with arbitrary μ, 2μ≠∈ℤ. We introduce a class of solutions having critical behaviour of algebraic type, and completely compute the structure of the analytic continuation of these solutions in terms of an auxiliary reflection group in the three dimensional space. The analytic continuation is given in terms of an action of the braid group on the triples of generators of the reflection group. We show that the finite orbits of this action correspond to the algebraic solutions of our Painlevé VI equation and use this result to classify all of them. We prove that the algebraic solutions of our Painlevé VI equation are in one-to-one correspondence with the regular polyhedra or star-polyhedra in the three dimensional space. We consider a stochastic partial differential equation with logarithmic (or negative power) nonlinearity, with one reflection at 0 and with a constraint of conservation of the space average. The equation, driven by the derivative in space of a space–time white noise, contains a bi-Laplacian in the drift. The lack of the maximum principle for the bi-Laplacian generates difficulties for the classical penalization method, which uses a crucial monotonicity property. Being inspired by the works of Debussche and Zambotti, we use a method based on infinite dimensional equations, approximation by regular equations and convergence of the approximated semigroup. We obtain existence and uniqueness of a solution for nonnegative initial conditions, results on the invariant measures, and on the reflection measures.  相似文献

We give an invariant nondegeneracy condition for CR-maps between generic submanifolds in different dimensions and use it to prove a reftection principle for these maps.  相似文献

Equations of nonlinear acoustic wave motion in a non-classical lossy medium are used to derive generalised formulas describing the phenomena of reflection and transmission. Integral, non-local operators that are caused by the nonlinear effects in wave propagation and occur in reflection and transmission formulas are given in a form in which classical linear reflection and transmission coefficients are explicitly separated. Numerical calculations are performed for a simplified, one-dimensional wave travelling in a lossless medium. These simplifications reveal the pure effect of the impact of nonlinearities on the reflection and transmission phenomena. We consider adjacent media with different properties to illustrate various aspects of the problem. In particular, even if two media have the same linear impedance and the same material modules of the third order, we observe an explicit effect of the nonlinearity on the reflection phenomenon. The theoretical predictions are confirmed qualitatively by numerical calculations based on the finite difference time domain method.  相似文献

Let W be a complex reflection group. We formulate a conjecture relating blocks of the corresponding restricted rational Cherednik algebras and Rouquier families for cyclotomic Hecke algebras. We verify part of the conjecture in the case that W is a wreath product of a symmetric group with a cyclic group of order l.  相似文献

We investigate star-covering properties of Ψ-like spaces. We show star-Lindelöfness is reflected by open perfect mappings. In addition, we offer a new equivalence of CH.  相似文献

The current study examines whether the engagement of mathematics teachers in modelling activities and subsequent changes in their conceptions about these activities affect their beliefs about mathematics. The sample comprised 52 mathematics teachers working in small groups in four modelling activities. The data were collected from teachers' Reports about features of each activity, interviews and questionnaires on teachers' beliefs about mathematics. The findings indicated changes in teachers' conceptions about the modelling activities. Most teachers referred to the first activity as a mathematical problem but emphasized only the mathematical notions or the mathematical operations in the modelling process; changes in their conceptions were gradual. Most of the teachers referred to the fourth activity as a mathematical problem and emphasized features of the whole modelling process. The results of the interviews indicated that changes in the teachers' conceptions can be attributed to structure of the activities, group discussions, solution paths and elicited models. These changes about modelling activities were reflected in teachers' beliefs about mathematics. The quantitative findings indicated that the teachers developed more constructive beliefs about mathematics after engagement in the modelling activities and that the difference was significant, however there was no significant difference regarding changes in their traditional beliefs.  相似文献

We investigate the hot–spots property for the survival time probability of Brownian motion with killing and reflection in planar convex domains whose boundary consists of two curves, one of which is an arc of a circle, intersecting at acute angles. This leads to the hot–spots property for the mixed Dirichlet–Neumann eigenvalue problem in the domain with Neumann conditions on one of the curves and Dirichlet conditions on the other.Supported in part by NSF Grant # 9700585-DMSSupported in part by NSF Grant # 0203961-DMS  相似文献

We consider the time evolution of the electron wave function on a one-dimensional lattice consisting of N identical sites and a single impurity site that differs from the rest of the lattice by the on-site energy and the hopping integral. At the initial instant, the wave function is entirely localized at the impurity site. With time, a localized wave packet forms, which moves over the lattice and reflects from its end. The process of reflection from the ends repeats many times and is called “electron ping-pong.” We obtain analytic expressions for the propagation of the wave packet front at different values of the problem parameters. The analytic expressions agree perfectly with numerical simulation results.  相似文献

In type A, the q,t-Fuß–Catalan numbers can be defined as the bigraded Hilbert series of a module associated to the symmetric group. We generalize this construction to (finite) complex reflection groups and, based on computer experiments, we exhibit several conjectured algebraic and combinatorial properties of these polynomials with nonnegative integer coefficients. We prove the conjectures for the dihedral groups and for the cyclic groups. Finally, we present several ideas on how the q,t-Fuß–Catalan numbers could be related to some graded Hilbert series of modules arising in the context of rational Cherednik algebras and thereby generalize known connections.  相似文献
