We consider some variational problems with nonlinear boundary conditions. We approximate them by some discrete problems using P1 finite elements. We know that the discrete problems converge to the continuous ones when we consider linear boundary conditions (see [1]). We are interested by the nonlinear case. Mainly, we prove convergence for this kind of problems.  相似文献

The purpose of this Note is to extend the mortar finite element method to handle the unilateral contact model between two deformable bodies. The corresponding variational inequality is approximated using finite elements with meshes which do not fit on the contact zone. The mortar technique allows us to match (independent) discretizations within each solid and to express the contact conditions in a satisfying way. Then, we carry out a numerical analysis of the algorithm and, using a bootstrap argument, we give an upper bound of the convergence rate similar to that already obtained for compatible grids.  相似文献

This Note deals with the one-dimensional transport operator, on an unbounded domain, endowed with general boundary conditions. We show the generation of a strongly continuous semigroup and we study its spectral properties. In particular, we prove the existence of a leading eigenvalue.  相似文献

This work deals with a nonlinear inverse problem of reconstructing an unknown boundary γ, the boundary conditions prescribed on γ being of Signorini type, by using boundary measurements. The problem is turned into an optimal shape design one, by constructing a Kohn-Vogelius-like cost function, the only minimum of which is proved to be the unknown boundary. Furthermore, we prove that the derivative of this cost function with respect to a direction θ depends only on the state u0, and not on its Lagrangian derivative u1 (θ).  相似文献

In a discretization scheme for conformal mappings with circle packings previously considered by Colin de Verdière and the author, a two-term asymptotic expansion of the radii of the image circles is obtained, with a control on the error. Lelong d'après lequel certaines fonctions analytiques de deux groupes variables réelles sont analytiques pour l'ensemble des variables. On se restreindra aux fonctions solutions d'une équation aux dérivées partielles elliptique à coefficients constants. This work consists of a numerical study of a multi-scale finite element method for a Stokes-type problem with highly oscillating coefficients. The objective of this method is to capture the multi-scale structure of the solution via local basis functions calculated in advance, which contain the essential information on small scales.  相似文献

Summary The starting point of the present paper is a simple method ofPayne-Weinberger to obtain lower bounds for the first eigenvalue of a membrane through comparison with the Rayleigh principle for homogeneous strings. A generalization of this idea to auxiliary non-homogeneous strings leads to a maximum principle (7) (of which an inequality ofBarta-Pólya is a special case) or (7); in its form (8), it was essentially known (although with some unnecessary restrictive hypotheses) toM. H. Protter in 1958. — This principle is closely related to theThomson principle of boundary value problems; in particular, the allowed discontinuities of the concurrent vector fields (in the formulation (7)) are the same as inThomson's principle.—Someapplications of the principle to the calculation of rather sharp lower bounds are indicated, as well as an intuitivephysical interpretation (in terms of variation of masses and constraints). Summary Some problems for harmonic functions with radiation-type boundary conditions are studied, and a conjecture of A. Acker [1, 2] is proved by using one-dimensional auxiliary problems.
