Variétés linéaires par morceaux et variétés combinatoires

Résumé On conna?t le r?le important joué par la notion de variété combinatoire dans dans les développements récents de la topologie différentielle [6], [8]. Une structure combinatoire sur une variété topologiqueU s'identifie à une classe de triangulations isomorphes deU (i.e. deux quelconques d'entre elles sont obtenues à partir de complexes simpliciaux qui admettent des subdivisions isomorphes). Il convient de considerer en outre une relation d'équivalence plus forte définissant des structures de “variétés linéaires par morceaux”, une structure combinatoire correspondant à une classe de structures linéaires par morceaux “homéomorphes”. Nous montrons que cette notion est équivalente, sur une variété paracompacte, à celle de structure d'espace localement isomorphe à Rⁿ munie du pseudogroupe des homéomorphismes locaux linéaires par morceaux. On montre aussi que les variétés linéaires par morceaux forment une catégorie qui admet un foncteur covariant associant à chaque objetU de la catégorie un espace fibré C(U) de “c?nes tangents”. Ce travail développe des exposés faits au Séminaire mathématique de l'Ecole de Physique et Mathématique de l'Université Centrale du Vénézuéla (Caracas) en mai 1961. (Voir [4b]).     

Variétés abéliennes et théorème de Minkowski–Hlawka

A classical theorem of Minkowski and Hlawka states that there exists a lattice in \({\mathbb{R}^n}\) with packing density at least \({2^{1-n}}\). Buser and Sarnak proved the analogue of this result in the context of complex abelian varieties. Here we give an improvement of this analogue; this shows a conjecture of Muetzel.     

Variétés instables d'ensembles hyperboliques

Here the unstable manifolds of hyperbolic systems admitting a one-rectangle Markov partition are characterized up to homeomorphism and up to topological conjugacy (of the underlying dynamics) in a very easy-to-compute way. The geometrical behaviour of the unstable manifolds is described with the help of an algebraic setting.     

Variétés K-équivalentes et géométrie par morceaux

Are two smooth K-equivalent varieties piecewise isomorphic? In this article, we study this question. We obtain a positive partial answer, in every dimension, but when the exceptional loci are of small dimension.

Sur le nombre de points rationnels des variétés abéliennes et des Jacobiennes sur les corps finis

We give upper and lower bounds for the number of points on abelian and Jacobian varieties over finite fields. We also determine the values for the maximum and minimum number of points on Jacobian surfaces on a given finite field.     

Intersection de sous-groupes et de sous-variétés I

We study the intersection of a subvariety X of an abelian variety A over with the union of all the algebraic subgroups of A of given dimension d. Our main result states that if we remove a suitable exceptional subset from X and if d is small enough then the intersection enjoys a Northcott-like property: the points of bounded height on it form a finite set. The condition on d involves only the dimension of X and the structure of A up to isogenies. We show how it can be weakened if we assume certain conjectures in the direction of an abelian version of Lehmer's problem. The theorem is especially meaningful when X is a curve since it is then possible to bound the height and hence to prove finiteness of the set under consideration. This generalises the result of E. Viada on powers of elliptic curves and is analogous to work of E. Bombieri, D. Masser and U. Zannier on tori, whose general strategy we follow.

Déformations de fibrés vectoriels sur les variétés de dimension 3

In the first part, we give some necessary conditions for a torsion free sheaf on a smooth threefold to be a reduced limit of vector bundles.In a second part of the article, we illustrate these results by reinterpreting a condition described by G. Ellingsrud and S.A. Strømme as a condition obtained in the first part. This enables us to identify, in a well known too big familly, the torsion free sheaves that are limit of vector bundles.

Estimations inférieures du noyau de la chaleur sur les variétés coniques et transformée de Riesz

Résumé Nous complétons les estimations supérieures du noyau de la chaleur sur les variétés coniques obtenues dans [13] par des estimations inférieures, et nous en déduisons quune variété à croissance polynomiale du volume peut vérifier des estimations supérieures et inférieures gaussiennes du noyau de la chaleur sans que la transformée de Riesz y soit bornée sur L^p pour tout p > 2.     

Interpolation transfinie sur le triangle,le tétraèdre et le pentaèdre. Application à la création de maillages et à la condition de Dirichlet

The Lagrange's interpolation L(ν) of a function ν on a polyhedron K is defined from the values of the function at points p_i of the boundary Γ(K) and ℒ(ν)(p_i) = ν(p_i) at these points. The transfinite interpolation is defined in the same way, but on the whole boundary Γ(K). Three new transfinite interpolations of degree one on the triangle, tetrahedron, and pentahedron are added to the Gordon and Hall's transfinite interpolations on the quadrangle and hexaedron. All these interpolations leave the polynomials of degree ≤1 invariant. The applications to the generation of regular meshes and the possibility of exactly taking into account the Dirichlet boundary condition, show the usefulness of these transfinite interpolations.
