Abstract Let A be the mod p Steenrod algebra and S the sphere spectrum localized at p, where p is an odd prime. In 2001 Lin detected a new family in the stable homotopy of spheres which is represented by (b0hn-h1bn-1)∈ ExtA^3,(p^n+p)q(Zp,Zp) in the Adams spectral sequence. At the same time, he proved that i.(hlhn) ∈ExtA^2,(p^n+P)q(H^*M, Zp) is a permanent cycle in the Adams spectral sequence and converges to a nontrivial element ξn∈π(p^n+p)q-2M. In this paper, with Lin's results, we make use of the Adams spectral sequence and the May spectral sequence to detect a new nontrivial family of homotopy elements jj′j^-γsi^-i′ξn in the stable homotopy groups of spheres. The new one is of degree p^nq + sp^2q + spq + (s - 2)q + s - 6 and is represented up to a nonzero scalar by hlhnγ-s in the E2^s+2,*-term of the Adams spectral sequence, where p ≥ 7, q = 2(p - 1), n ≥ 4 and 3 ≤ s 〈 p.  相似文献

We study polymodal logics with n modal connectives □1,...,□n, each of which satisfies the axioms of S5 and, moreover, obeys the commutativity laws . We prove sharp two-parameter estimates for the L p -L 2 norm, 1 ≤ p ≤ 2, of the joint spectral projectors associated to the Laplace–Beltrami operator and to the Kohn Laplacian on the unit sphere S 2n-1 in . Then, by using the notion of contraction of Lie groups, we deduce the estimates recently obtained by H. Koch and F. Via blossoms we analyse the dimension elevation process from to , where is spanned over [0, 1] by 1, x,..., x n-2, x p , (1 − x) q , p, q being any convenient real numbers. Such spaces are not Extended Chebyshev spaces but Quasi Extended Chebyshev spaces. They were recently introduced in CAGD for shape preservation purposes (Costantini in Math Comp 46:203–214; 1986, Costantini in Advanced Course on FAIRSHAPE, pp. 87–114 in 1996; Costantini in Curves and Surfaces with Applications in CAGD, pp. 85–94, 1997). Our results give a new insight into the special case p = q for which dimension elevation had already been considered, first when p = q was supposed to be an integer (Goodman and Mazure in J Approx Theory 109:48–81, 2001), then without the latter requirement (Costantini et al. in Numer Math 101:333–354, 2005). The question of dimension elevation in more general Quasi Extended Chebyshev spaces is also addressed.  相似文献

Let X be a non-degenerate, not necessarily linearly normal projective variety in . Recently the generalization of property N p to non-linearly normal projective varieties have been considered and its algebraic and geometric properties are studied extensively. One of the generalizations is the property N d,p for the saturated ideal I X (Eisenbud et al. in Compos Math 141: 1460–1478, 2005) and the other is the property for the graded module of the twisted global sections of (Kwak and Park in J Reine Angew Math 582: 87–105, 2005). In this paper, we are interested in the algebraic and geometric meaning of properties for every p ≥ 0 and the syzygetic behaviors of isomorphic projections and hyperplane sections of a given variety with property . Some suffcient conditions for existence of k-admissible Hall chains (= -chains) in normal subgroups of finite p-groups are established (for irregular p-groups we consider only the case k = p). In Propositions 13–15 we study p-groups without -chains, and metacyclic 2-groups with the above property are classified. For a Riemannian foliation on a closed manifold M, we define L 2-spectral sequence Betti numbers and spectral sequence Novikov–Shubin invariants. The spectral sequence of the lift of to the universal covering of M is used in the definitions. These invariants are natural extensions of the L 2-Betti numbers and the Novikov–Shubin invariants of differentiable manifolds. It is shown that these numbers are invariant by foliated homotopy equivalences, and they are computed for several examples.   相似文献

Bent functions have many applications in the fields of coding theory, communications and cryptography. This paper studies the constructions of bent functions having the form for odd n and for even n, over the finite field of odd characteristic p, where . Based on the irreducibility of some polynomials on , we focus on characterizing the bent functions for n=p v q r and n=2p v q r , where is an odd prime and p a primitive root modulo q 2. For a given map defined on the field of p-adic numbers satisfying

This approach can still be our choice in constructing a Markov process on finite algebraic extension of . We will give an answer to the question as to how Markov process driven by set of maps will be addressed. Let E be an elliptic curve defined over , of conductor N, and with complex multiplication. We prove unconditional and conditional asymptotic formulae for the number of ordinary primes , px, for which the group of points of the reduction of E modulo p has square-free order. These results are related to the problem of finding an asymptotic formula for the number of primes p for which the group of points of E modulo p is cyclic, first studied by Serre (1977). They are also related to the stronger problem about primitive points on E modulo p, formulated by Lang and Trotter (Bull Am Math Soc 83:289–292, 1977), and the one about the primality of the order of E modulo p, formulated by Koblitz [Pacific J. An interior point method (IPM) defines a search direction at an interior point of the feasible region. These search directions form a direction field, which in turn defines a system of ordinary differential equations (ODEs). The solutions of the system of ODEs are called off-central paths, underlying paths lying in the interior of the feasible region. It is known that not all off-central paths are analytic, whether w.r.t. μ or , where μ represents the duality gap, at a solution of a given semidefinite linear complementarity problem, SDLCP (Sim and Zhao, Math. Program. 110:475–499, 2007). In Sim and Zhao (J. Optim. Theory Appl. 137:11–25, 2008), we give a necessary and sufficient condition for when an off-central path is analytic as a function of at a solution of a general SDLCP. It is then natural to ask about the analyticity of a SDLCP off-central path at a solution, as a function of μ. We investigate this in the current paper. Again, we work under the assumption that the given SDLCP satisfies strict complementarity condition.  相似文献

We introduce an estimate of the entropy of the marginal density p t of a (eventually inhomogeneous) Markov chain at time t≥1. This estimate is based on a double Monte Carlo integration over simulated i.i.d. copies of the Markov chain, whose transition density kernel is supposed to be known. The technique is extended to compute the external entropy , where the p 1 t s are the successive marginal densities of another Markov process at time t. We prove, under mild conditions, weak consistency and asymptotic normality of both estimators. The strong consistency is also obtained under stronger assumptions. These estimators can be used to study by simulation the convergence of p t to its stationary distribution. Potential applications for this work are presented: (1) a diagnostic by simulation of the stability property of a Markovian dynamical system with respect to various initial conditions; (2) a study of the rate in the Central Limit Theorem for i.i.d. random variables. We prove firstly the classification theorem for p-harmonic morphisms between Euclidean domains. Secondly, we show that if is a p-harmonic morphism (p ≥ 2) from a complete Riemannian manifold M of nonnegative Ricci curvature into a Riemannian manifold N of non-positive scalar curvature such that the L q -energy is finite, then is constant, which improve the corresponding result due to G. In this paper we find estimates for the optimal constant in the critical Sobolev trace inequality that are independent of Ω. This estimates generalized those of Adimurthi and Yadava (Comm Partial Diff Equ 16(11):1733–1760, 1991) for general p. Here p * : =  p(N  −  1)/(N  −  p) is the critical exponent for the immersion and N is the space dimension. Then we apply our results first to prove existence of positive solutions to a nonlinear elliptic problem with a nonlinear boundary condition with critical growth on the boundary, generalizing the results of Fernández Bonder and Rossi (Bull Lond Math Soc 37:119–125, 2005). Finally, we study an optimal design problem with critical exponent.   相似文献

In this paper, we get the main theorem: Let p be a prime dividing the order of G and , where and H is p -Hall subgroup of G. Let δ be a complete set of Sylow subgroups of H. With a quantum Markov semigroup (Τ t ) t≥0 on , whichhas a faithful normal invariant state ρ, we associate semigroupsT (s) (s∈[0],[1]) on the set of Hilbert-Schmidt operators onh defined by the rule . This allows us to use spectral theory to study the infinitesimal generatorL (s) of the semigroupT (s) and deduce information on the rate of the decay to equilibrium of Τ by means of estimates of the spectral gap ofL (s) . Fors=1/2, this method is applied to a class of quantum Markov semigroups on . We prove simple but reasonably general sufficient conditions, as well as necessary and sufficient conditions, for the gap(L (1/2)) to be positive. The exact value of the gap(L (1/2)) is computed or estimated for a certain class of equations motivated by classical probability or physical applications.
