Efficient generation of correlated photon pairs in a microstructure fiber   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2

We report efficient generation of correlated photon pairs through degenerate four-wave mixing in a microstructure fiber. With 735.7 nm pump pulses producing correlated signal (688.5 nm) and idler (789.8 nm) photons in a 1.8 m microstructure fiber, we detect photon pairs at a rate of 37.6 kHz with a coincidence/ accidental contrast of 10:1 with deltalambda = 0.7 nm. This is the highest rate to our knowledge reported to date in a fiber-based photon source. The light source is highly nonclassical as defined by the Zou-Wang-Mandel inequality, which is violated by 1100 times the uncertainty.  相似文献

We propose a cavity-QED scheme to effectively generate Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen polarization-entangled photon pairs. Assisted by a classical π-polarized pump field, a tripod four-level atom successively couples to two high-Q optical cavities possessing polarization degeneracy. Through stimulated Raman adiabatic passage process the polarization-entangled photon pairs can be produced.  相似文献

The propagation of electromagnetic pulses in a binary scintillation medium is simulated. The evolution of electromagnetic excitations formed by elementary particles passing through the scintillation medium is studied. The space-time dependence of light-pulse profiles and the time dependence of the light-medium energy balance and the signal formation length were obtained.  相似文献

We have shown theoretically that efficient multiple-exciton generation (MEG) by a single photon can be observed in small nanocrystals. Our quantum simulations that include hundreds of thousands of exciton and multiexciton states demonstrate that the complex time-dependent dynamics of these states in a closed electronic system yields a saturated MEG effect on a picosecond time scale. Including phonon relaxation confirms that efficient MEG requires the exciton-biexciton coupling time to be faster than exciton relaxation time.  相似文献

We demonstrate the generation of non-classical photon pairs in a warm ~(87)Rb atomic vapor cell with no buffer gas or polarization preserving coatings via spontaneous four-wave mixing. We obtain the photon pairs with a 1/e correlation time of 40 ns and the violation of Cauchy–Schwartz inequality by a factor of 23±3. This provides a convenient and efficient method to generate photon pair sources based on an atomic ensemble.  相似文献

Summary We have analysed the response of a random elastic layer to scalar waves incident from a homogeneous medium. Working up to second order in the stochastic fluctuations, we have proposed a rational approximation for the computation of the reflection and amplification coefficients. After successfully checking the method by a numerical simulation, we have considered a problem of interest in earthquake engineering.  相似文献

Electron-positron pair and photon generation from vacuum is considered for a de Sitter space. The amplitude is calculated in the lowest order of perturbation theory with respect to the radiation interaction. The initial and final vacuum states of the quantized spinor field are taken as those of an adiabatic Bunch-Davis vacuum. The weak nonlinearity limit of the second-harmonic generation in a medium with variable second-order susceptibility, changing along the direction of propagation of interacting waves according to the hyperbolic secant law, is considered. It is shown that the variation of the second harmonic’s normalized intensity with the spatial coordinate is given in terms of the solution to an auxiliary linear problem, which is known as the Rosen-Zener quantum two-level model. The final intensity of the second harmonic at the exit from the medium is calculated and analyzed. It is shown that, for the particular Rosen-Zener profile under consideration, because of its inherent properties, the variation range of the peak susceptibility of the layer for which the medium can be strictly considered as weakly nonlinear is narrower than the corresponding parameter range for a homogeneous medium.  相似文献

In this article, we review on narrowband photon pairs producedin nonlinear crystals, and especially in atomic ensembles. In atomicensembles, “write-read” process in pulse mode andspontaneous four-wave mixing process (SFWM) in continuous mode aretwo popular photon pair generation schemes. We specifically discussthe experimental works with continuous SFWM scheme in cold atomicensembles. Photon pairs produced in these systems are characteristicof controllable long coherence time, and therefore are accessiblewith direct temporal modulation. The polarization tensor is calculated which originates from interaction of a photon with the electron–positron field. The effects of multiple scattering of electrons and positrons in a medium side by side with external fields are included. The corresponding general representation of polarization tensor is found in the form of two-dimensional integral. Squeezing of the electromagnetic field is investigated in fundamental mode in fourth harmonic generation under a short time approximation based on quantum mechanical approach. The occurrence of squeezing in field amplitude and in higher power amplitude (up to fourth-order) in fundamental mode has been studied. It is found to be dependent on phase of field amplitude of the fundamental mode. The dependence of squeezing on the photon number has also been investigated. It is found that squeezing increases non-linearly. It has also been found that the photon statistics of the field in fundamental mode is sub-Poissonian. The signal to noise ratio has been studied in different order. It is found that signal to noise ratio is higher in lower order.  相似文献

Computer simulation was performed to study compression wave propagation in a granular medium in a gravity field. It is shown that in a layer with spherical granules, periodic wave structures can be formed and their parameters depend on the granule size and layer thickness. If the layer is compressed, the wave structures fail to emerge and wave attenuation is much weaker. Wave processes in a layer of granular medium with nonspherical granules were also studied. It is shown that the medium is characterized by very strong wave attenuation and by the absence of wave structure formation and is highly sensitive to its initial stress state.  相似文献

为了研究地星上行和星地下行激光链路孔径内接收光强信号的典型特征,基于大气湍流理论和位相屏方法,计算了短波和中波红外激光在特定大气相干长度条件下,孔径内接收激光功率与总功率的比值及起伏情况。根据统计结果讨论了上下行大气通道传播特性的差异,结果表明相同外界条件下,直径50 cm孔径内接收的下行激光信号强度大于上行激光信号强度1个数量级以上,其信号的起伏程度也低于上行激光;中等湍流下,下行激光孔径接收光强的概率分布函数服从对数正态分布,最大概率接收功率比与无湍流条件下的功率比值一致,分别为0.42%(1.315 m)和 0.26%(3.8 m)。  相似文献

In the ordered state, symmetric diblock copolymers self-assemble into an anisotropic lamellar morphology. The equilibrium thickness of the lamellae is the result of a delicate balance between enthalpic and entropic energies, which can be tuned by controlling the temperature. Here we devise a simple yet powerful method of detecting tiny changes in the lamellar thickness using optical microscopy. From such measurements we characterize the enthalpic interaction as well as the kinetics of molecules as they hop from one layer to the next in order to adjust the lamellar thickness in response to a temperature jump. The resolution of the measurements facilitate a direct comparison to predictions from self-consistent field theory.  相似文献

The bleaching effect induced by a short microsecond laser pulse in a fluid layer is studied. In the first approximation, the refractive and absorption indices are assumed to be linearly dependent on the fluid density. The similarity parameters are derived, the characteristics of the bleaching channel are studied as functions of the heat-release parameter and Euler number, and the results are interpreted in terms of physical variables.  相似文献

Flat lozenge-type domains in a NiCoP onefold layer may propagate under the influence of a transverse field and two electric currents. The domain behaviour was analyzed step by step using digital image processing in the static and semidynamic conditions.The two phases of the domain propagations ate due to the local variable coercivity, domain wall transformation freom asymmetric Bloch into asymmetric Néel type and domain tip coercivity.  相似文献

利用非线性薛定谔方程对飞秒脉冲在硅波导中的传输以及超连续谱的产生进行了研究,计算和分析了色散参量及非线性损耗在超连续谱的产生过程中的影响.结果表明,孤子分裂是飞秒脉冲在硅波导中产生超连续谱的主要机理.飞秒脉冲中心波长与波导零色散点的相对位置对超连续谱的产生有极大影响.当中心波长位于近零色散点的反常色散区时,孤子分裂现象最明显,谱宽远大于在零色散波长及正常色散处入射时的情况,并且达到稳定展宽所需波导长度最短.其次,高阶色散的大小也会影响光谱展宽,三阶色散绝对值较小时,能够获得较大的展宽.另外,由于双光子吸收效应带来大量损耗,限制了谱宽,并且随着初始脉冲功率的逐渐增大,展宽出现饱和现象. 关键词: 超连续谱 孤子分裂 色散 硅波导  相似文献
