Simultaneous generation of second-harmonic light with orthogonal polarizations in the blue spectral region is demonstrated by use of typeII and typeI quasi-phase matching for the nonlinear coefficients d(33) , d(24) , and d(32) in periodically poled KTP. The second-harmonic power ratio in both polarization states can be tuned by the fundamental polarization and (or) the periodically poled KTP temperature. Femtosecond pulse frequency-doubling efficiencies of as much as 39.5% W (-1) and 8.1% W (-1) are demonstrated in 7-mm periodically poled KTP for typeI and typeII processes, respectively. The efficiency limitations caused by various effects of the group-velocity mismatch are discussed.  相似文献

根据准相位匹配倍频原理,讨论了实现宽带二次谐波转换需要满足的条件.以周期性极化铌酸锂晶体和掺杂氧化镁(7mol%)周期性极化铌酸锂(7mol%MgO-PPLN)晶体为例,分别比较了0型(e+e→e)和Ⅰ型(o+o→e)两种准相位匹配情况下宽带高效二次谐波转换的特性.研究表明,对于7mol%MgO-PPLN晶体,同时满足准相位匹配条件和群速度匹配条件的中心波长和带宽向短波方向移动,且0型(e+e→e)准相位匹配情况下可以获得更大的带宽.  相似文献

Broadband tunability of the second-harmonic wavelength is achieved in periodically poled silica fibers. A wavelength tuning range of almost 45 nm of the fundamental wave is demonstrated through mechanical compression tuning of the quasi-phase-matched periodic structure. The uniform strain applied along the entire periodic structure enables the spectral profile and the conversion efficiency of the generated second harmonic to be preserved for the full tuning range. To our knowledge, the achieved tuning range realized through this technique is far greater than that possible with uniform periodically poled crystals.  相似文献

用标量有限元方法计算了周期性极化的铌酸锂光波导中模折射率和模场分布,并在计算中引入铌酸锂晶体折射率与温度变化的关系,分析了准位相匹配铌酸锂波导倍频效率与极化反转光栅周期、基频光波长、波导器件温度等关系.理论分析与实验结果符合得很好.在此基础上,分析了波导制作参数与倍频效率、光栅周期与晶体温度,以及温度带宽与光栅通光方向长度等关系,进而对铌酸锂波导倍频器件进行优化设计. 关键词: 铌酸锂 光波导 准位相匹配 有限元  相似文献

对周期性极化高掺镁铌酸锂倍频过程进行了准相位匹配倍频理论研究。在室温下通过外加电场极化法,用较低的极化开关电场~5.5kV/mm,在厚为1mm、长为10mm、宽为10mm的掺镁铌酸锂基片上成功地制备了周期为5.8~7.3pm(间隔0.3pm)的一阶准相位匹配倍频周期性极化光学微结构。将温度控制在70℃左右,以波长为1.060μm的Nd:YAG激光为基频光源,对所研制的光学微结构样品进行倍频通光实验验证。当入射基频光为920mW时,可以获得约15mW的532nm准连续倍频蓝光输出.其归一化转换效率高达1.77%/W。  相似文献

We report on a new (to our knowledge) configuration incorporating both birefringence and quasi-phase-matching, enabling efficient phase-matched nonlinear diffraction in one-dimensional periodically poled nonlinear crystals. We demonstrate the method experimentally, showing an efficient nonlinear diffraction to the first few orders in two types of crystals, MgO doped congruent lithium niobate and congruent lithium niobate, and characterize its efficiency dependence on the fundamental power, the propagation angle, and the crystal temperature. This configuration can increase efficiencies observed in nonlinear diffraction experiments, enables ferroelectric domain characterization by nonlinear microscopy, and can be used to determine the duty cycles of periodically poled nonlinear crystals.  相似文献

Recent results in the field of three-frequency wave interaction in homogeneous and inhomogeneous (periodically poled) active nonlinear crystals with quadratic nonlinearity are reviewed. The quasi-phase-matched processes of self-frequency doubling, self-frequency halving, and frequency mixing of the pump and laser radiations are studied. The consecutive quasi-phase-matched processes of the third-harmonic generation and parametric amplification with low-frequency pumping in periodically poled active nonlinear crystals are also investigated. The analysis is carried out for the case of a periodically poled Nd:Mg:LiNbO3 crystal. Perspectives of using periodically poled active nonlinear crystals in laser devices with self-frequency conversion are discussed.  相似文献

Theoretical predictions and experimental observations show that a weak harmonic seed beam can control the process of generating multiple quadratic solitons in periodically poled KTiOPO4 by inputting only a fundamental beam. We report on the observation of second-harmonic conical waves generated in a novel geometry of the transverse excitation of an annular periodically poled nonlinear photonic structure by a fundamental Gaussian beam. We show that the conical beams are formed as a result of the higher-order nonlinear Bragg diffraction involving two parametric processes in which an ordinary fundamental wave is converted simultaneously into ordinary and extraordinary polarized second harmonics.  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate backward second-harmonic generation in periodically poled LiNbO(3) with a 3.3- microm domain period. We observed higher-order phase matching near 1490, 1600, and 1700 nm (fundamental) for the 19th, 18th, and 17th orders, respectively, with a maximum conversion efficiency of 0.02%.  相似文献

We consider an index-guiding silica photonic crystal fiber with a triangular hole pattern and a periodically poled quadratic nonlinearity. By tuning the pitch and the relative hole size, second-harmonic generation with zero group-velocity mismatch is found for any fundamental wavelength above 780 nm. The nonlinear strength is optimized when the fundamental has maximum confinement in the core. The conversion bandwidth allows for femtosecond-pulse conversion, and 4%-180%W(-1)cm(-2) relative efficiencies were found.  相似文献

We report the first, according to our knowledge, experiment for direct third harmonic (TH) generation in periodically poled quadratic crystals. TH radiation of a diode array pumped and acousto-optically Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser is generated in a 25 mm long periodically poled lithium niobate (PPLN) crystal of period 7.0 μm. A theoretical model is developed that explains the experimental results. It predicts that the efficient phase-matched direct TH generation in periodically poled structures with duty factor 0.5 requires even order quasi-phase matching. In contrast to the similar experiments in bulk birefringence crystals, where direct phase matched TH signal is the sum of the contribution of both intrinsic and cascaded cubic nonlinearities, in periodically poled quadratic crystals only cascaded cubic nonlinearity contributes to the direct phase-matched TH signal.  相似文献

An Yb:KYW laser intra-cavity frequency doubled to the green at 514.7 nm using a periodically poled Rb:KTP crystal with an output power exceeding 1 W is presented. The results of classical and quantum studies of the laser-radiation self-frequency conversion processes in periodically poled active nonlinear crystals are overviewed. The theoretical and experimental results of studying quasi-phase-matched self-frequency doubling and summation of the laser and pump frequencies in an active nonlinear periodically poled Nd:Mg:LiNbO3 crystal are presented. We report generation of near-infrared photon pairs in fundamental spatial modes via type-II spontaneous parametric down-conversion in a periodically poled potassium titanyl phosphate (KTiOPO(4)) nonlinear waveguide supporting multiple transverse modes. This demonstrates experimentally a versatile scheme for controlling the spatial characteristics of the produced nonclassical light based on exploitation of intermodal dispersion. The down-converted photons are characterized by the measurement of the beam quality factors in the heralded regime.  相似文献

We observe highly localized solitons in periodically poled lithium niobate waveguide arrays close to phase matching for second-harmonic generation. With fundamental and second-harmonic input in one channel the response indicates two distinguishable propagation schemes. Depending on the relative phase between the two input waves, a self-trapped beam emerges, resembling closely either the in- or the out-of-phase quadratic eigenmode of a single waveguide. A stable soliton propagates when the input waves are in phase.  相似文献

The direct fourth harmonic generation (FHG) is theoretically demonstrated based on quasi-phase-matching (QPM) configuration in periodically poled lithium tantalate (PPLT). The wavelength dependence of the period of FHG QPM gratings is calculated. Bandwidths of fundamental wavelength, temperature, and incident angle are also studied. A very wide bandwidth, as large as 119.5 nm, of fundamental wavelength near 3699 nm is found with the QPM period of 9.442 μm and the crystal length of 1 cm.  相似文献

Polydomain periodically poled samples of iron-doped lithium niobate allow for phase grating recording with the diffraction efficiency close to that ensured by a single-domain sample with identical thickness. At the same time the optical damage induced by a finite transverse size light beam is considerably reduced in the periodically poled sample as compared with single-domain material.  相似文献

We report a characterisation of a flux-grown periodically poled KTiOPO4 crystal used for second-harmonic generation in a diode laser source, that operates with fundamental radiation tunable around 1083 nm wavelength. The conversion efficiency is measured for the three different grating periods of the crystal, as a function of input wavelength, crystal temperature and fundamental power. The measurements were fitted to the theoretical model of Boyd and Kleinman for frequency conversion of focused Gaussian beams. This enabled us to determine the temperature and wavelength dependence of the difference in refractive index between the interacting waves.  相似文献
