The conceptual of Hefei Advanced Light Source, which is an advanced VUV and Soft X-ray source, was developed at NSRL of USTC. According to the synchrotron radiation user requirements and the trends of SR source development, some accelerator-based schemes were considered and compared; furthermore storage ring with ultra low emittance was adopted as the baseline scheme of HALS. To achieve ultra low emittance, some focusing structures were studied and optimized in the lattice design. Compromising of emittance, on-momentum and off-momentum dynamic aperture and ring scale, five bend acromat (FBA) was employed. In the preliminary design of HALS, the emittance was reduced to sub nm·rad, thus the radiation up to water window has full lateral coherence. The brilliance of undulator radiation covering several eVs to keVs range is higher than that of HLS by several orders. The HALS should be one of the most advanced synchrotron radiation light sources in the world.  相似文献

The Hefei Light Source (HLS) is undergoing a major upgrade project, named HLS-Ⅱ, in order to obtain lower emittance and more insertion device straight sections. Undulators are the main insertion devices in the HLS-Ⅱ storage ring. In this paper, based on the database of lattice parameters built for the HLS-Ⅱ storage ring obtained by the global scan method, we use the quantity related to the undulator radiation brightness to more directly search for high brightness lattices. Lattice solutions for achromatic and non-achromatic modes are easily found with lower emittance, smaller beta functions at the center of the insertion device straight sections and lower dispersion in non-zero dispersion straight sections compared with the previous lattice solutions. In this paper, the superperiod lattice with alternating high and low horizontal beta functions in long straight sections for the achromatic mode is studied using the multiobjective particle swarm optimization algorithm.  相似文献

A new generation of storage ring-based light sources,called diffraction-limited storage rings(DLSRs),with emittance approaching the diffraction limit for multi-keV photons by means of multi-bend achromat lattices,has attracted extensive studies worldwide.Among various DLSR proposals,the hybrid multi-bend achromat concept developed at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility(ESRF) predicts an effective way of minimizing the emittance while keeping the required chromatic sextupole strengths to an achievable level.For the High Energy Photon Source planned to be built in Beijing,an ESRF-type lattice design consisting of 48 hybrid seven-bend achromats is proposed to reach emittance as low as 60 pm-rad with a circumference of about 1296 m.Sufficient dynamic aperture,allowing vertical on-axis injection,and moderate momentum acceptance are achieved simultaneously for a promising ring performance.  相似文献

通过采用二极铁之间色散函数的相空间匹配所带来的约束条件,从而无需依赖具体的磁聚焦结构,利用Mathematica软件进行计算,得到了在三块二极铁弯转半径相等情况下,两种应用普遍的三块弯铁消色散(TBA)磁聚焦结构的最小发射度所对应的最小结构比例参数。得到了在TBA结构三块二极铁长度及弯转半径任意的情况下,TBA结构能取得的最小结构比例参数,以及TBA结构中三块二极铁长度及弯转半径所要满足的关系。由于计算中无需考虑具体的磁聚焦结构,得到的理论结果及其分析过程具有较强的通用性。  相似文献

This paper describes and demonstrates the scaling law in the lattice design of a storage ring.When the size of the storage ring are enlarged or reduced according to a scale,the operating point ν and the beam emittance ε will be invarible.But while the energy of the storage ring is changed,the emittance will vary with the energy square.  相似文献

With the increasing demand of high brightness in light source, the uniform dipole can not meet the needs of low emittance, and thus the dipole with bending radius variation is introduced in this paper. The transfer matrix of a non-uniform dipole whose bending radius is linearly changed is chosen as an example and a very simple calculation formula of non-uniform dipole transfer matrices is given. The transfer matrices of some common profile non-uniform dipoles are also listed. The comparison of these transfer matrices and the matrices calculated with slices method verifies the numerical accuracy of this formula. This method can make the non-uniform beam dynamic problem simpler, very helpful for emittance research and lattice design with non-uniform dipoles.  相似文献

为了使国际未来直线对撞机达到高的亮度, 对撞机的阻尼环必须要有很小的自然发射度. 同时, 阻尼环要有很大的接收度来接受来自正电子注入系统的大能散、大发射度的正电子束团. 对于磁聚焦结构的设计来说, 同时达到以上要求是一件很有挑战性的工作. 为了降低ILC阻尼环的造价采用修正的FODO结构设计了可以满足ILC要求的阻尼环备用Lattice, 并使四极磁铁的数量比起ILC阻尼环BCD设计减少了一半.  相似文献

The TAC(Turkish Accelerator Center) project aims to build an accelerator center in Turkey. The first stage of the project is to construct an Infra-Red Free Electron Laser(IR-FEL) facility. The second stage is to build a synchrotron radiation facility named TURKAY, which is a third generation synchrotron radiation light source that aims to achieve a high brilliance photon beam from a low emittance electron beam at 3 Ge V. The electron beam parameters are highly dependent on the magnetic lattice of the storage ring. In this paper a low emittance storage ring for TURKAY is proposed and the beam dynamic properties of the magnetic lattice are investigated.  相似文献

For reaching a small emittance in a modern light source, triple bend achromats(TBA), theoretical minimum emittance(TME) and even multiple bend achromats(MBA) have been considered. This paper derived the necessary condition for achieving minimum emittance in TBA and MBA theoretically, where the bending angle of inner dipoles has a factor of 3~(1/3) bigger than that of the outer dipoles. Here, we also calculated the conditions attaining the minimum emittance of TBA related to phase advance in some special cases with a pure mathematics method. These results may give some directions on lattice design.  相似文献

A new procedure for the design and simulation of a Radio Frequency Quadrupole (RFQ) accelerator has been developed at the Argonne National Laboratory. This procedure is integrated with the beam dynamics design code DESRFQ and the simulation code TRACK, which are based on three-dimensional field calculations and the particle-in-cell mode beam dynamics simulations. This procedure has been applied to the development of a 162.5 MHz CW RFQ which is capable of delivering a 10 mA proton beam for the Accelerator Driven System (ADS) of the CAS. The simulation results show that this RFQ structure is characterized by the stable values of the beam acceleration efficiency for both the zero current beam and space charge dominated beam. For an average beam current of 10 mA, there is no transverse rms emittance growth, the longitudinal rms emittance at the exit of RFQ is low enough and there is no halo formation. The beam accelerated in the RFQ could be accepted easily and smoothly by the following super-conducting linear accelerator.  相似文献

In the storage ring of the third generation light sources, nonlinear optimization is an indispensable course in order to obtain ample dynamic acceptances and to reach high injection efficiency and long beam lifetime, especially in a low emittance lattice. An improved optimization algorithm based on the single resonance approach, which takes relative weight and initial Harmonic Sextupole Integral Strength (HSIS) as search variables, is discussed in this paper. Applications of the improved method in several test lattices are presented. Detailed analysis of the storage ring of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility (SSRF) is particularly emphasized. Furthermore, cancellation of the driving terms is investigated to reveal the physical mechanism of the harmonic sextupole compensation. Sensitivity to the weight and the initial HSIS as well as dependence of the optimum solution on the convergent factor is analyzed.  相似文献

 针对质子治癌直线加速器功耗少、长度短的要求,设计了一台工作频率为324 MHz的漂移管型质子直线加速器(DTL)。该DTL把粒子从2.5 MeV加速到7 MeV,功耗为265 kW, 总长1.9 m。横向聚焦采用FODO结构,漂移管内放置永磁铁。提出一种新的束流匹配方案,在射频四极场加速器(RFQ)与DTL之间不设束运线,而是以 DTL入口处的4个单元为匹配段,把RFQ出口处相椭圆匹配到DTL周期结构入口处的相椭圆。 用PARMILA程序对该DTL进行了动力学模拟,结果表明该方案的束流发射度增长很小。  相似文献

A new generation of storage ring-based light sources, called diffraction-limited storage rings(DLSR), with emittance approaching the diffraction limit for multi-ke V photons by using multi-bend achromat lattice, has attracted worldwide and extensive studies of several laboratories, and been seriously considered as a means of upgrading existing facilities in the imminent future. Among various DLSR proposals, the PEPX design demonstrated that it is feasible to achieve sufficient ring acceptance for off-axis injection in a DLSR, by designing the lattice based on the ‘thirdorder achromat' concept and with a special high-beta injection section. For the High Energy Photon Source(HEPS)planned to be built in Beijing, a PEPX-type lattice has been designed and continuously improved. In this paper, we report the evolution of the PEPX-type design for HEPS, and discuss the main issues relevant to the linear optics design and nonlinear optimization.  相似文献

The International Linear Collider (ILC), which is based on super-conducting RF acceleration technology, requires the damping rings to provide beams with extremely small equilibrium emittance, and large acceptance to ensure good injection efficiency for high-emittance, and high-energy spread beam from the positron source. In order to reduce the cost for ILC damping rings, an alternative lattice which is different from the baseline configuration design has been designed with modified FODO arc cells, and the total quadrupole number has been reduced by half. At the same time, to decrease the total cost involved in constructing access shafts needed to supply power, cryogenics etc. for the wigglers and other systems, the number of wiggler sections is decreased from 8 to 4, and further to 2. This new lattice has been optimized to have a good dynamic aperture. This alternative ILC damping ring lattice design will reduce the cost largely as compared with the baseline design.  相似文献

In this paper,a dedicated synchrotron radiation (SR) mode for the BEPCⅡ with an emittance of 85 nm has been designed,including the linear lattice,chromaticity correction and dynamic aperture optimization.The emittance of the new mode is about 60% of the previous mode used for routine operation of the BEPCⅡ .The effect of wigglers on the linear lattice was compensated and the total dynamic aperture including the wigglers’ nonlinear effect was estimated.The preliminary commissioning at the end of 2008 and the formal operation with the new mode confirmed its merits.  相似文献

We present two types of optics for the lattice of a compact storage ring for a Compton X-ray source. The optics design for different operation modes of the storage ring are discussed in detail. For the pulse mode optics, an IBS-suppression scheme is applied to optimize the optics for lower IBS emittance growth rate; as for the steady mode, the method to control momentum compact factor is adopted [Gladkikh P, Phys. The upgrade project of the Hefei Light Source (HLS), named HLS-Ⅱ, is under way, whose storage ring will be reconstructed. The HLS-Ⅱ storage ring has lower emittance and more straight sections available for insertion devices compared with the present HLS storage ring. The scan method is applied to the linear lattice optimization for the HLS-Ⅱ storage ring to get thorough information about the lattice. To reduce the computation amount, several scans with different grid spacing values are conducted. And, the calculation of the chromatic sextupole strength for the achromatic mode is included in the scan, which is useful for nonlinear lattice optimization. To better analyze the obtained solutions in the scan, the lattice properties and the variables of quadrupole strengths are statistically analyzed. And, the process of selecting solutions is described in detail, including the choice of the working point, the settings for the emittance and optical functions, and the restriction of maximum magnet strength. Two obtained lattices, one for the achromatic mode and the other for the non-achromatic mode, are presented, including their optical functions and optimized dynamic apertures.  相似文献
