In this paper we find a possible continuation for quenching solutions to a system of heat equations coupled at the boundary condition. This system exhibits simultaneous and non-simultaneous quenching. For non-simultaneous quenching our continuation is a solution of a parabolic problem with Neumann boundary conditions. We also give some results for simultaneous quenching and present some numerical experiments that suggest that the approximations are not uniformly bounded in this case.  相似文献

This paper deals with finite-time quenching for the nonlinear parabolic system with coupled singular absorptions: ut=Δuvp, vt=Δvuq in Ω×(0,T) subject to positive Dirichlet boundary conditions, where p,q>0, Ω is a bounded domain in with smooth boundary. We obtain the sufficient conditions for global existence and finite-time quenching of solutions, and then determine the blow-up of time-derivatives and the quenching set for the quenching solutions. As the main results of the paper, a very clear picture is obtained for radial solutions with Ω=BR: the quenching is simultaneous if p,q≥1, and non-simultaneous if p<1≤q or q<1≤p; if p,q<1 with , then both simultaneous and non-simultaneous quenching may happen, depending on the initial data. In determining the non-simultaneous quenching criteria of the paper, some new ideas have been introduced to deal with the coupled singular inner absorptions and inhomogeneous Dirichlet boundary value conditions, in addition to techniques frequently used in the literature.  相似文献

This paper deals with quenching phenomena for a heat equations with coupled singular logarithms boundary fluxes. Under appropriate hypotheses, the non-simultaneous quenching of the solution for the system is proved, and the estimates of quenching rates are given. Then we give a natural continuation of the solution (u,v) after the quenching time when the equations occurs non-simultaneous quenching. Moreover, we identify the heat equations verified by the continuation beyond quenching time, i.e., the equations occurs incomplete quenching.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the boundary quenching behavior of a semilinear parabolic problem in one-dimensional space, of which the nonlinearity appears both in the source term and in the Neumann boundary condition. First we proved that the solution quenches at somewhere in some finite time. Then we assert that the quenching can only occur on the left boundary if the given initial datum is monotone. Finally we derived the upper and lower bounds for the quenching rate of the solution near the quenching time. Thus we generalized our former results.  相似文献

This paper concerns the quenching phenomenon of solutions to a class of semilinear parabolic equations with boundary degeneracy. In the case that the degeneracy is not strong, it is shown that there exists a critical length, which is positive, such that the solution exists globally in time if the length of the spatial interval is less than it, while quenches in a finite time if the length of the spatial interval is greater than it. Whereas in the case that the degeneracy is strong enough, the solution must be quenching in a finite time no matter how long the spatial interval is. Furthermore, for each quenching solution, the set of quenching points is determined and it is proved that its derivative with respect to the time must blow up at the quenching time.  相似文献

We discuss the motion of noncompact axisymmetric hypersurfaces Γ t evolved by mean curvature flow. Our study provides a class of hypersurfaces that share the same quenching time with the shrinking cylinder evolved by the flow and prove that they tend to a smooth hypersurface having no pinching neck and having closed ends at infinity of the axis of rotation as the quenching time is approached. Moreover, they are completely characterized by a condition on initial hypersurface.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate initial-boundary value problems for nonlinear parabolic differential equations with combined power-type nonlinearities. Quenching process is a thermo-elastic-plasticity problem with a high material non-linearity. The numerical oscillation is likely caused in the simulation of quenching process. In order to avoid the numerical oscillation and improve the calculation accuracy of temperature and phase-transformation fields in the quenching process, a new self-adaptive time-step size method is presented. The method can adjust the time-step size according to the maximum and minimum differences of temperature fields between the previous simulation step and the current simulation step. FEM software for evaluating the temperature, stress/strain and phase-transformation is also developed. A cooling example with numerical analytical results and a quenching example with experiment results are used to verify the calculation accuracy of this software. Five methods including the method in this paper, two constant time-step sizes and two geometric proportion time-step sizes are applied to simulate the quenching process of a 40Cr steel cylinder, respectively. A comparison of the simulation results shows that, the method presented in this paper can effectively avoid the numerical oscillation, ensure the calculation accuracy and cost less calculation time.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the quenching rate of the solution for a nonlocal parabolic problem which arises in the study of the micro-electro mechanical system. This question is equivalent to the stabilization of the solution to the transformed problem in self-similar variables. First, some a priori estimates are provided. In order to construct a Lyapunov function, due to the lack of time monotonicity property, we then derive some very useful and challenging estimates by a delicate analysis. Finally, with this Lyapunov function, we prove that the quenching rate is self-similar which is the same as the problem without the nonlocal term, except the constant limit depends on the solution itself.  相似文献

In this article, we present the numerical simulations of a real cylinder head quench cooling process employing a newly developed boiling phase change model using the commercial CFD code AVL-FIRE v8.5. Separate computational domains constructed for the solid and liquid regions are numerically coupled at the interface of the solid–liquid boundaries using the AVL-Code-Coupling-Interface (ACCI) feature. The boiling phase change process triggered by the dipping hot metal and the ensuing two-phase flow is handled using an Eulerian two-fluid method. Multitude of flow features such as vapor pocket generation, bubble clustering and their disposition, are captured very effectively during the computation, in addition to the variation of the temperature pattern within the solid region. A comparison of the registered temperature readings at different monitoring locations with the numerical results generates an overall very good agreement and indicates the presence of intense non-uniformity in the temperature distribution within the solid. Overall, the predictive capability of the new boiling model is well demonstrated for real-time quenching applications.  相似文献

We study finite time quenching for heat equations coupled via singular nonlinear bound-ary flux. A criterion is proposed to identify the simultaneous and non-simultaneous quenchings. In particular, three kinds of simultaneous quenching rates are obtained for different nonlinear exponent re-gions and appropriate initial data. This extends an original work by Pablo, Quir′os and Rossi for a heat system with coupled inner absorption terms subject to homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions.  相似文献

The problem of thermoviscoelastic dynamic contact between a rod and a rigid obstacle, when the material damage is taken into account, is modeled and analyzed. The contact is modeled by the normal compliance condition and the stress-strain constitutive equation is of Kelvin-Voigt type. The damage, which describes the reduction of the load carrying capacity of the rod, evolves because of the opening of microcracks as a result of tension or compression. When the damage reaches a critical value at a point on the rod the material cannot carry any load and the system breaks down. Mathematically, this is expressed by the quenching of the solution. The existence of a local weak solution is established using penalization and a priori estimates.  相似文献
