The paper is concerned with a static contact problem about a rigid punch on the free surface of a linear porous elastic half-plane. With the use of the Fourier transform the problem is reduced to a singular integral equation holding over the contact zone. This integral representation permits consideration of the Flamant problem (a line load on the half-plane) to be explicitly reduced to some quadratures. It is shown that in the classical linear elasticity limit the main integral equation has a Cauchy-type kernel, so distribution of the contact pressure is like in the Sadowsky punch-problem. For arbitrary porosity a numerical co-location technique is applied that allows one to analyze in detail the distribution of the contact pressure versus porosity. Both in the Flamant and Sadowsky problems we demonstrate a higher compliance of the porous foundation, with respect to the classical linear elastic results. Modeling an impact event is often related to the desired outcome of an impact oscillator study. If the only intent is to study the dynamic behavior of the system, numerous researchers have shown that simpler impact models will often suffice. However, when the geometric contours and material properties of the two colliding surfaces are known, it is often of interest to model the contact event at a greater level of complexity. This paper investigates the application of a finite time impact model to the study of a parametrically excited planar pendulum subjected to a motion-dependent discontinuity. Experimental and numerical studies demonstrate the presence of multiple periodic attractors, subharmonics, quasi-periodic motions, and chaotic oscillations.  相似文献

Three methods are used to determine the natural frequency of undamped free vibration of a mass interacting with a Hertzian contact stiffness. The exact value is determined using the first integral of motion. The harmonic balance method is used on a transformed equation for an approximate solution, and the multiple scales method is used on an approximate equation. The maximum initial displacement avoiding contact loss is also determined, and the corresponding exact natural frequency is also obtained analytically. The methods are evaluated by studying the free vibration of an elastic sphere on a flat rigid surface.  相似文献

In this study we investigate an axisymmetric Hertzian contact problem of a rigid sphere pressing into an elastic half-space under cyclic loading. A numerical solution is sought to obtain a steady state, which demands a large amount of computer memory and computing speed. To achieve a tractable problem, the current numerical model uses a “static reduction” technique, which employs only a contact stiffness matrix rather than the entire stiffness of the problem and is more accurate than the approach used by most finite element codes. Investigation of the tendency of contact behavior in the transient and steady states confirms that a steady state exists, showing converged energy dissipation. The dependence of dissipation on load amplitude shows a power law of load amplitude less than 3, which may explain some deviations in the experimental findings.  相似文献

A method is proposed to solve the contact problem for laminated anisotropic shells of revolution. The method is based on a two-dimensional model that accounts for transverse shears and reduction. Also the method is based on the method of successive approximations, the generalized pseudo-force method, and a numerical-analytical method of solving boundary-value problems. A variety of methods have been proposed to calculate the dynamic response caused by a railway vehicle affected by a wheelflat. Most of the sophisticated procedures evaluate the elastic properties of the wheel-rail contact by means of the Hertz model. However, the hypotheses that must be satisfied in order to apply the Hertzian contact model are not fulfilled when the wheel-rail contact occurs in the area of wheel affected by the flat. This gives rise to deviations in the results of the dynamic model compared to the real situation. With the objective of analysing the influence of the elastic wheel-rail contact model, a procedure was developed to determine the dynamic response caused by a geometric irregularity (in rail or wheel) by means of Hertzian and non-Hertzian contact models. Results of the wheelflat impact simulations given by both types of contact model have been compared in this work.  相似文献

We consider a piezoelectric body bounded by a cylindrical surface in which all cross sections are of the same geometry. Suppose on the lateral surface the body is loaded in such a way that the stress and electric displacement do not vary along the axial direction. In addition the end of the cylinder is also subjected to forces reducing to bending moments, twisting moment, axial force and electric charge. We follow Lekhnitskii's formalism to characterize the deformation of the considered problem. It is found that, when the solid possesses a material symmetry plane normal to the axial direction, the simplified field equations together with suitably chosen boundary conditions are entirely analogous to those of a generalized torsion problem in anisotropic elasticity. In particular, we show that by setting a linkage between two sets of 21 material constants, any problem in one field can be resolved as another problem in the other area. We use previous theoretical results for the added mass, history and lubrication forces between two spheres colliding in a fluid with viscosity ν to investigate the effect of viscous dissipation on the coefficient of restitution during contact. We assume that the mechanical interaction is governed by Hertzian mechanical contact of small duration τ and that the minimum approach distance between particles is approximately equal to the height σ of surface micro-asperities. A non-dimensionalization of the equation of motion indicates that the contact dynamics is governed by two parameters – the ratio ϵ of the surface roughness σ and the sphere radius a, and a contact Stokes number defined as Stc = σ2/ντ. An asymptotic solution of the equation of motion in the limit of small ϵ/Stc is used to obtain an explicit expression for the coefficient of restitution during contact and the latter is compared with estimates based on numerical solutions of the non-linear equation of motion.  相似文献

We apply the asymptotic analysis procedure to the three-dimensional static equations of piezoelectricity, for a linear nonhomogeneous anisotropic thin rod. We prove the weak convergence of the rod mechanical displacement vectors and the rod electric potentials, when the diameter of the rod cross-section tends to zero. This weak limit is the solution of a new piezoelectric anisotropic nonhomogeneous rod model, which is a system of coupled equations, with generalized Bernoulli–Navier equilibrium equations and reduced Maxwell–Gauss equations.  相似文献

A direct central collision of two identical infinite cylindrical bodies is studied. A nonstationary plane elastic problem is solved. The variable boundary of the contact area is determined. A mixed boundary problem is formulated. Its solution is represented by Fourier series. An infinite system of Volterra equations of the second kind for the unknown expansion coefficients is derived by satisfying boundary conditions. The piezoelectric phenomenon has been exploited in science and engineering for decades. Recent advances in smart structures technology have lead to a resurgence of interest in piezoelectricity, and in particular, in the solution of fundamental boundary-value problems. In this paper, we develop an analytic solution to the axisymmetric problem of an infinitely long, radially polarized, radially orthotropic piezoelectric hollow circular cylinder. The cylinder is subjected to uniform internal pressure, or a constant potential difference between its inner and outer surfaces, or both. An analytic solution to the governing equilibrium equations (a coupled system of second-order ordinary differential equations) is obtained. On application of the boundary conditions, the problem is reduced to solving a system of linear algebraic equations. The stress distributions in the cylinder are obtained numerically for two typical piezoceramics of technological interest, namely PZT-4 and BaTiO3. It is shown that the hoop stresses in a cylinder composed of these materials can be made virtually uniform throughout the cross-section by applying an appropriate set of boundary conditions. A structurally nonlinear contact problem of a punch shaped like a paraboloid of revolution is studied. An equation for the contactpressure density is derived with allowance for the radial tangential displacements of the boundary points of an elastic halfspace. 本文是以一组聚碳酸脂园盘试件,用焦散线法对小接触问题所进行的一系列实验分析,其中包括一个滚柱轴承的模拟分析,定量地得到了接触面宽度和面上的应力。对小接触奇异应力场给出可靠的定量结果,这是其他实验力学手段目前难以解决的。此外,本文的实验分析结果也与理论计算相当一致。  相似文献
