We consider actions of compact real Lie GroupsK on complex spacesX such that the associated reducedK-space admits a semistable quotient, e.g.X is a Stein space. By associating with an affine dependence the resultant of a related probability measure, we are able to define the set ofdivisible points, D(K), of a compact convex setK. Some general properties ofD(K) are discussed, and its equivalence with a set recently introduced by Reay for convex polytopes demonstrated. For polytopes,D(K) is a continuous image of a projective space. A conjecture concerningD(K) is settled affirmatively for cubes.  相似文献

The hyperspace mpcc(? n ) of max-plus convex compact subsets of ? n , n ≥ 2, is considered. The main result is as follows: this hyperspace is a contractible manifold modeled on the Hilbert cube Q. It is also shown that the projection mapping mpcc(? n ) → mpcc(? m ), nm, is open. The structure of the set of closed two-sided ideals in aC*-algebraU with identity is described by means of a topology on the set e K of extreme points of the state spaceK ofU. Recent results of Alfsen, Andersen, Combes, Perdrizet, Wils, and others have shown that such a topology can be defined on the set e K of extreme points of an arbitrary compact convex subset of a locally convex Hausdorff topological vector space.The structure of the set of closed left ideals in aC*-algebraU with identity can also be described by means of a set of subsets of the set e K of extreme points of its state spaceK. Akemann, Giles, and Kummer showed that this formed a more general structure than a topology which was called aq-topology. In this paper it is shown that for a reasonably wide class of compact convex subsetsK of locally convex Hausdorff topological vector spaces such aq-topology can also be defined on e K and that it shares many of the properties of theq-topology defined forC*-algebras. The methods used depend strongly upon recent results of Alfsen and Shultz on the spectral theory of affine functions on compact convex sets.  相似文献

If X is a compact convex set in a real locally convex space, BX is said to be its boundary if every affine continuous function on X attains its maximum at some point of B. We study relations between fragmentability of B and the whole set X. As a byproduct we obtain a characterization of separable Asplund spaces. We also study the possibility of finding the Haar system in a boundary of a metrizable compact convex set.  相似文献

An algorithm is presented which minimizes continuously differentiable pseudoconvex functions on convex compact sets which are characterized by their support functions. If the function can be minimized exactly on affine sets in a finite number of operations and the constraint set is a polytope, the algorithm has finite convergence. Numerical results are reported which illustrate the performance of the algorithm when applied to a specific search direction problem.
