Asymptotic properties of a real scalar self-interacting classical field depending on one variablez = t 2x 2 are studied. It is expected that quantum effects endow spacetime with stochastic properties near the Planck scale as exemplified by random fluctuations of the metric, usually referred to as spacetime foam or geometrodynamics. In this paper, a methodology is presented for incorporating Planck scale stochastic effects and corrections into general relativity within the ADM formalism, by coupling the Riemann 3-metric to white noise. The ADM—Cauchy evolution of a Riemann 3-metric h ij (t) induced on spacelike hypersurface C(t) can be interpreted within pure general relativity as a smooth geodesic flow in superspace, whose points consist of equivalence classes of 3-metrics. Coupling white noise to h ij gives Langevin stochastic differential equations for the Cauchy evolution of h ij, which is now a Brownian motion or diffusion in superspace. A fluctuation hij away from h ij is considered to be related to h ij by elements of the diffeomorphism group diff(C). Hydrodynamical Fokker—Planck continuity equations are formulated describing the stochastic Cauchy evolution of h ij as a probability flow. The Cauchy invariant or equilibrium solution gives a stationary probability distribution of fluctuations peaked around the deterministic metric. By selecting a physically viable ansatz for the scale dependent diffusion coefficient, one reproduces the Wheeler uncertainty relation for the metric fluctuations of quantum geometrodynamics. Treating h ij as a random variable, a non-linear Raychaudhuri—Langevin equation is derived describing the geometro-hydrodynamics of a congruence of fluid or dust matter propagating on the stochastic spacetime. For an initially converging congruence >0 at s the singularity =– at future proper time s=3/||$, which is expected in general relativity, is now smeared out near the Planck scale. Proper time s can be extended indefinitely (s) so that intrinsic metric fluctuations can restore geodesic completeness although the geodesics remain trapped for all time: although a singularity can be removed the collapsing matter still creates a black hole. A Fokker—Planck formulation also gives zero probability that – for s. Essentially, the short distance stochastic corrections to the deterministic equations of general relativity can remove pathologies such as singularities, conjugate points and geodesic incompleteness.  相似文献

Statics and dynamics of the modified kinetic discrete Gaussian model are treated selfconsistently using a Gaussian probability assumption. A non-trivial roughening temperatureT R is found in exactly two dimensions only. The free energyF, the correlation length and the interface roughness h 2 are found to behave—lnFlnh 2(T R T)–1 for temperaturesT approachingT R from below. The linear relaxation rate of the order parameter is found to be proportional to –2. As a model for crystal growth, the growth rate depends linearly upon the chemical potential difference aboveT R , shows a metastable regime belowT R with a spinodal limit of metastability c , beyond which oscillatory growth starts. We define a covariant and gauge-invariant generalization of the Wigner functions of particles with spins 1/2 and 0. The collisionless kinetic equations are obtained for these particles in external gravitational and electromagnetic fields in the quasiclassical approximation; also obtained are the momentum representations of the energy-momentum tensor, current, and spin tensor, taking into account the effects of the spin's interaction with the gravitational field an electromagnetic field. A system of coordinates on a set of selfdual lattices in a two-dimensionalp-adic symplectic space (V,) is suggested. A unitary irreducible representation of the Heisenberg group of the space (V,) depending on a lattice (an analogue of the Cartier representation) is constructed and its properties are investigated. By the use of such representations for three different lattices one defines the Maslov index =(1,2,3) of a triple of lattices. Properties of the index are investigated and values of in coordinates for different triples of lattices are calculated.  相似文献

A high-frequency sum-rule expansion is derived for the transverse elements of the relativistic classical plasma dielectric tensor in an isotropic system. The relativistic results are different from the nonrelativistic ones by a factor of –1(1 – 2/3c 2) for 2 (k) and longitudinal plasmon and transverse photon frequencies, and by –2(1–2 2/3c 2) for 2 (k).  相似文献

We analyze the Schrödinger equation , whereH() is the hamiltonian of the molecular system consisting of nuclei with masses proportional to –4 and electrons with masses of order 1. Using the Born-Oppenheimer method we construct the leading order asymptotic expansion to the exact solutions of the equation. We show that if the particles interact through smooth potentials decaying suitably as the distance between particles tends to , then the expansion holds uniformly for all timest[0,). A study has been made of the effects of radiation corrections of order as regards the probability of lepton decay of a moving neutral vector meson V e+e and V + (V = 0, , ); -e universality has been checked by examining the effects of radiation corrections due to exchange of virtual photons between lepton and antilepton, and also to vacuum polarization by e+e electron and +muon closed loops; in addition, a study has been made of the emission of soft photons as regards the partial width for the electron and muon modes of V-meson decay. Zero field SR spectra from Cr85Mo15 are well described by the sum of a lightly damped (0.02s–1<1<0.2s–1) and a heavily damped (2s–1<2<15s–1) exponential. The temperature dependence of these components is discussed in relation to the condensation of the incommensurate spin density wave and the onset of the antiferromagnetic state in this Cr-like alloy below TN=120K. Evidence is presented for the nucleation of the spin density wave at temperatures greater than 1.5TN.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of the refractive index of germanium in a wave-length region of 1·8–5·5 and temperature region of 100–530 °K is given for three samples of single crystal germanium having different concentrations of impurities. The temperature dependence of the refractive index is non-linear. Our results are compared with those of other authors. An attempt is also made to theoretically interpret the observed dependence.

The present paper summarizes new experimental proposals on muon catalyzed fusion (CF) research with a sharply pulsed negative muon beam now available at the UTMSL/KEK facility and soon to be available in a more extensive way at the RIKEN/RAL facility. Special emphasis is placed on (1) CF studies on ultra-pure D-T mixture, (2) slow beam production via CF, and (3) some exotic CF phenomena.  相似文献

We define affine transport lifts on the tangent bundle by associating a transport rule for tangent vectors with a vector field on the base manifold. Our aim is to develop tools for the study of kinetic/dynamic symmetries in particle motion. The new lift unifies and generalizes all the various existing lifted vector fields, with clear geometric interpretations. In particular, this includes the important but little-known matter symmetries of relativistic kinetic theory. We find the affine dynamical symmetries of general relativistic charged particle motion, and we compare this to previous results and to the alternative concept of matter symmetry.  相似文献

A general formulation is given of Simon's Ising model inequality: whereB is any set of spins separating from . We show that b can be replaced by b A whereA is the spin system insideB containing . An advantage of this is that a finite algorithm can be given to compute the transition temperature to any desired accuracy. The analogous inequality for plane rotors is shown to hold if a certain conjecture can be proved. This conjecture is indeed verified in the simplest case, and leads to an upper bound on the critical temperature. (The conjecture has been proved in general by Rivasseau. We have suggested and implemented a method of creation (growing) of sublimatescreens formed by singlecrystal luminophor columns which are perpendicular to an amorphous (e.g., glass) substrate. The diameters of the columns are 3–5 m, the height 7–10 m. The columnar singlecrystal structure of the screen ensures the high light yield and radiation color needed for field emission displays. It is possible to select the growing regime so that the columns are very closely spaced (1–2 m). The gaps can be filled with a conducting opaque material that increases the contrast of the screen and improves their electrical conductivity.  相似文献
