Due to their complexity and wide-ranging utility, biomacromolecular research is an especially interdisciplinary branch of
chemistry. It is my goal that the Biomacromolecules subject area of Chemistry Central Journal will parallel this richness
and diversity. In this inaugural commentary, I attempt to set the stage for achieving this by highlighting several areas where
biomacromolecular research overlaps more traditional chemistry sub-disciplines. Specifically, it is discussed how Materials
Science and Biotechnology, Analytical Chemistry, Cell Biology and Chemical Theory are each integral to modern biomacromolecular
research. Investigators with reports in any of these areas, or any other dealing with biomacromolecules, are encouraged to

It is well known that several reports on the common educational problems of nuclear chemistry have been prepared by certain
groups of experts from time to time. According to very important statements in these reports, nuclear chemistry and related
courses generally do not take sufficient importance in undergraduate chemistry curricula and it was generally proposed that
nuclear chemistry and related courses should be introduced into undergraduate chemistry curricula at universities worldwide.
Starting from these statements, an ideal program in an undergraduate chemistry curriculum was proposed to be introduced into
the undergraduate chemistry program at the Department of Chemistry, Ege University, in Izmir, Turkey during the regular updating
of the chemistry curriculum. Thus, it has been believed that this Department of Chemistry has recently gained an ideal teaching
program in the field of nuclear chemistry and its applications in scientific, industrial, and medical sectors. In this contribution,

An overview is presented of the beginnings, evolution and current status of research on analytical chemistry in Brazil. Among the various fields of chemistry two decades ago, Analytical Chemistry was considered one of the least developed in Brazil. In the last 15 years, however, research and development in this field have expanded considerably and today it is one of the most highly developed fields of Chemistry in Brazil. This perspective article serves to highlight the contributions to this special volume of Journal of Organometallic Chemistry entitled “Organometallics for Energy Conversion”. The key features of dihydrogen coordination to transition metal complexes are discussed in the context of the challenge of producing and utilizing hydrogen as the energy carrier of the future. Ultimately, production of H2 fuel from water will be needed rather than its current production principally from natural gas. Schemes involving use of solar energy to split water are currently of high interest, and a massive research effort is underway worldwide to accomplish this goal. This is primarily a chemistry problem (rather than engineering or materials), and it can then be assumed that organometallic chemistry will play an important role for both hydrogen production and storage. 相似文献
