The equilibrium geometries and harmonic vibrational frequencies of three low-lying triplet excited states of vinyl chloride have been calculated using the state-averaged complete active space self-consistent field (CASSCF) method with the 6-311++G(d,p) basis set and an active space of four electrons distributed in 13 orbitals. Both adiabatic and vertical excitation energies have been obtained using the state-averaged CASSCF and the multireference configuration-interaction methods. The potential-energy surfaces of six low-lying singlet states have also been calculated. While the 3(pi, pi*) state has a nonplanar equilibrium structure, the 3(pi, 3s) and 3(pi, sigma*) states are planar. The calculated vertical excitation energy of the 3(pi, pi*) state is in agreement with the experiment. The singlet excited states are found to be multiconfigurational, in particular, the first excited state is of (pi, 3s) character at the planar equilibrium structure, of (pi, sigma*) as the C-Cl bond elongates, and of (pi, pi*) for highly twisted geometries. Avoided crossings are observed between the potential-energy surfaces of the first three singlet excited states. The absorption spectra of vinyl chloride at 5.5-6.5 eV can be unambiguously assigned to the transitions from the ground state to the first singlet excited state. The dissociation of Cl atoms following 193-nm excitation is concluded to take place via two pathways: one is through (pi, sigma*) at planar or nearly planar structures leading to fast Cl atoms and the other through (pi, pi*) at twisted geometries from which internal conversion to the ground state and subsequent dissociation produces slow Cl atoms.  相似文献

The ligand (tBu2PCH2SiMe2)2N1- (PNP) in [PNP]RuCl leads to an intermediate spin ground state, S = 1, which has been characterized by NMR and X-ray diffraction as having a planar structure. This spin state is attributed in part to N --> Ru pi donation. DFT calculations confirm that the singlet state lies higher in energy and is nonplanar. The molecule is converted to a diamagnetic product by addition of 2 mol of PhCN. The half-filled orbitals of the S = 1 state are suggested to be the reason agostic interactions do not compensate for the 14-valence electron count.  相似文献

The photophysical and photochemical properties of N-phthaloyl-methionine (1), S-methyl-N-phthaloyl-cysteine methyl ester (2) and N-phthaloyltranexamic acid (3) were studied by time-resolved UV/Vis spectroscopy, using laser pulses at 248 or 308 nm. The quantum yield of fluorescence is low (phi(f)< 10(-2)) for 1-3 in fluid and glassy media, whereas that of phosphorescence is large (0.3-0.5) in ethanol at - 196 degrees C. The triplet properties were examined in several solvents, at room temperature and below. The spectra and decay kinetics are similar, but the population of the pi(pi*) triplet state, as measured by T-T absorption, is much lower for 1 and 2 than for 3 or N-methyltrimellitimide (5') at ambient temperatures. The quantum yield (phi(delta)) of singlet molecular oxygen O2(1deltag) formation is substantial for 3 and 5' in several air- or oxygen-saturated solvents at room temperature, but small for 2 and 1. The quantum yield of decomposition is substantial (0.2-0.5) for 3 and small (<0.05) for 2 and 1. It is postulated that photoinduced charge separation in the spectroscopically undetectable 3n,pi* state may account for the cyclization products of 1 and 2. In aqueous solution, this also applies for 3, whereas in organic solvents cyclization involves mainly the lower lying 3pi,(pi*) state. Triplet acetone, acetophenone and xanthone are quenched by 1-3 in acetonitrile; the rate constant is close to the diffusion-controlled limit, but smaller for benzophenone. While the energy transfer from the triplet ketone occurs for 3, a major contribution of electron transfer to the N-phthalimide derivative is suggested for 1 and 2, where the radical anion of benzophenone or 4-carboxybenzophenone is observed in alkaline aqueous solution.  相似文献

The VUV electronic spectroscopy of acetone studied by synchrotron radiation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The electronic state spectroscopy of acetone (CH3)2CO has been investigated using high-resolution VUV photoabsorption spectroscopy in the energy range 3.7-10.8 eV. New vibronic structure has been observed, notably in the low energy absorption band assigned to the 1(1)A(1) --> 1(1)A2 (ny --> pi*) transition. The local absorption maximum at 7.85 eV has been tentatively attributed to the 4(1)A1 (pi --> pi*) transition. Six Rydberg series converging to the lowest ionisation energy (9.708 eV) have been assigned as well as a newly-resolved ns Rydberg series converging to the first ionic excited state (12.590 eV). Rydberg orbitals of each series have been classified according to the magnitude of the quantum defect (delta) and are extended to higher quantum numbers than in the previous analyses.  相似文献

A series of trannulene (all-trans annulene) derivatives of [60]fullerene have been prepared by reacting C(60)F(18) with methanetricarboxylate esters that incorporate a range of photoactive functions. All the compounds have the intense emerald-green colour of fullerene trannulenes, characterised by strong bands at ca. 612 and 667 nm. Single crystal X-ray studies show that the packing varies with the nature of the addend, attributable to differing steric effects. UV/vis absorption spectra display transitions of the respective fullerene and addend models, indicating absence of electronic interactions between them in the ground state. These now provide an extensive series for testing photoactive (light-harvesting) properties, with the exceptional properties of having strong visible light absorption. Their exceptional stability is attributed to the 18[small pi] aromatic circuit, inability to undergo nucleophilic substitution without disrupting this circuit, and a curved cage region that is shielded to reagents by the three bulky addends.  相似文献

Ultrafast processes in photoexcited N-salicylideneaniline have been investigated with femtosecond time-resolved resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization spectroscopy. The ion signals via the S(1)(n,pi( *)) state of the enol form as well as the proton-transferred cis-keto form emerge within a few hundred femtoseconds after photoexcitation to the first S(1)(pi,pi( *)) state of the enol form. This reveals that two ultrafast processes, excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) reaction and an internal conversion (IC) to the S(1)(n,pi( *)) state, occur on a time scale less than a few hundred femtoseconds from the S(1)(pi,pi( *)) state of the enol form. The rise time of the transient corresponding to the production of the proton-transferred cis-keto form is within 750 fs when near the red edge of the absorption is excited, indicating that the ESIPT reaction occurs within 750 fs. The decay time of the S(1)(pi,pi( *)) state of the cis-keto form is 8.9 ps by exciting the enol form at 370 nm, but it dramatically decreases to be 1.5-1.6 ps for the excitation at 365-320 nm. The decrease in the decay time has been attributed to the opening of an efficient nonradiative channel; an IC from S(1)(pi,pi( *)) to S(1)(n,pi( *)) of the cis-keto form promotes the production of the trans-keto form as the final photochromic products. The two IC processes may provide opposite effect on the quantum yield of photochromic products: IC in the enol form may substantially reduce the quantum yield, but IC in the cis-keto form increase it.  相似文献

A series of platinum(II) terpyridyl alkynyl complexes, [Pt{4'-(4-R1-C6H4)terpy}(C[triple chemical bond]C-C6H4-R(2)-4)]ClO4 (terpy=2,2':6',2'-terpyridyl; R1=R2=N(CH3)2 (1); R1=N(CH3)2, R2=N-[15]monoazacrown-5 (2); R1=CH3, R2=N(CH3)2 (3); R1=N(CH3)2, R2=H (4); R1=CH3, R2=H (5)), has been synthesized and the photophysical properties of the complexes have been examined through measurement of their UV/Vis absorption spectra, photoluminescence spectra, and transient absorptions. Complex 3 shows a lowest-energy absorption corresponding to a ligand-to-ligand charge-transfer (LLCT) transition from the acetylide to the terpyridyl ligand, whereas 4 shows an intraligand charge-transfer (ILCT) transition from the pi orbital of the 4'-phenyl group to the pi* orbital of the terpyridyl. Upon protonation of the amino groups in 3 and 4, their lowest-energy excited states are switched to dpi(Pt)-->pi*(terpy) metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) states. The lowest-energy absorption for 1 and 2 may be attributed to an LLCT transition from the acetylide to the terpyridyl. Upon addition of an acid to a solution of 1 or 2, the amino group on the acetylide is protonated first, followed by the amino group on the terpyridyl. Thus, the lowest excited state of 1 and 2 can be successively switched from the LLCT state to the ILCT state and then to the MLCT state by controlling the amount of the acid added. Such switches in the excited state are fully reversible upon subsequent addition of a base to the solution. Sequential addition of alkali metal or alkaline earth metal ions and then an acid to a solution of 2 also leads to switching of its lowest excited state from the LLCT state, first to the ILCT state and then to the MLCT state. All of the complexes exhibit a transient absorption of the terpyridyl anion radical, which is present in all of the LLCT, ILCT, and MLCT states. However, the shape of the transient absorption spectrum depends on both the substitution pattern on the terpyridyl moiety and the nature of the excited state.  相似文献

The active role of the optically dark pi sigma* state, following UV absorption, has been implicated in the photochemistry of a number of biomolecules. This work focuses on the role of the pi sigma* state in the photochemistry of phenol upon excitation at 200 nm. By probing the neutral hydrogen following UV excitation, we show that hydrogen elimination along the dissociative pi sigma* potential energy surface occurs within 103 +/- 30 fs, indicating efficient coupling at the S1/S2 and S0/S2 conical intersections, with no identifiable role of statistical unimolecular decay of vibronically excited (S0) phenol in the timeframe of our measurements.  相似文献

The ground- and excited-state properties of a Ni(II) porphyrin bearing peripheral alkylthio group, NiOMTP (OMTP = 2,3,7,8,12,13,17,18-octakis methylthio porphyrinate) have been investigated by steady-state and time-resolved absorption spectrometry and DFT/TDDFT theoretical methods. Several conformations corresponding to different deformations of the porphyrin core and to different orientations of the alkylthio groups have been theoretically explored. The nearly degenerate, purely ruffled D(2d) and hybrid (ruffled with a modest degree of saddling) D(2) conformations, both characterized by an up-down (ud) orientation of the vicinal methylthio groups are by far the preferred conformations in the "gas phase". In contrast to NiOEP, it is the orientation of the peripheral substituents rather than the type and degree of distortions of the porphyrin core that determines the stability of the NiOMTP conformers. The ground-state electronic absorption spectra of NiOMTP exhibit significant changes compared to its parent NiP and beta-alkylated analogues, such as NiOEP, resulting in a considerable red shift of the B and the Q bands, intensification and broadening of the Q band, and additional weak absorptions in the region between the Q and B bands. These spectral changes can be understood in terms of the electronic effects of the methylthio groups with nonplanar distortions of the porphyrin ring playing a very minor role. Transient absorption measurements with sub-picosecond resolution performed in toluene and TDDFT calculations reveal that following photoexcitation, NiOMTP deactivates by the pathway 1(pi,pi) --> 3(d(z2),d(x2-y2))--> ground state. The (d,d) state exhibits complex spectral evolution over ca. 8 ps, interpreted in terms of vibrational relaxation and cooling. The cold ligand-field excited state decays with a lifetime of 320 ps. At variance with the highly distorted nickel porphyrins but similar to the planar analogues, the (d,d) spectrum of NiOMTP has transient absorption bands immediately to the red of the bleaching of the ground-state Q and B bands.  相似文献

Density functional theory as well as M?ller-Plesset investigations has been carried out on tetrafluoro cyclobutadiene, C4F4, to explore the origin of its nonplanarity. Although Petersson et al. (Petersson, E. J.; Fanuele, J. C.; Nimlos, M. R.; Lemal, D. M.; Ellison, G. B.; Radziszewski, J. G. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1997, 119, 11122-11123) had earlier predicted a nonplanar geometry of this compound on the basis of spectral and bond orbital analysis, the explanation of the same from a more fundamental point of view is still missing. In the present study, we provide a heuristic explanation for the origin of nonplanarity of C4F4. The two major driving forces behind this nonplanar geometry are the unusual aromaticity of this cyclic homoatomic 4pi electron system and the second-order Jahn-Teller effect (SOJTE). These driving forces can well be explained by various energy and density parameters and also by nucleus-independent chemical shift (NICS) values. Aromaticity of a cyclic homoatomic 4pi electron system is quite remarkable. The enhancement of pi- delocalization as evidenced from molecular orbital analysis may be attributed to s-ppi mixing in nonplanar C4F4.  相似文献

A combination of supersonic-jet laser spectroscopy and quantum chemistry calculation was applied to 1,4-bis(phenylethynyl)benzene, BPEB, to study the role of the dark pisigma* state on electronic relaxation and the effect of ring torsion on electronic spectra. The result provides evidence for fluorescence break-off in supersonic jet at high S1(pi pi*) <-- S0 excitation energies, which can be attributed to the pi pi*-pi sigma* intersection. The threshold energy for the fluorescence break-off is much larger in BPEB (approximately 4000 cm(-1)) than in diphenylacetylene (approximately 500 cm(-1)). The high-energy barrier in BPEB accounts for the very large fluorescence quantum yield of the compound (in solution) relative to diphenylacetylene. The comparison between the experimentally derived torsional barrier and frequency with those from the computation shows overall good agreement and demonstrates that the low-energy torsional motion involves the twisting of the end ring in BPEB. The torsional barrier is almost an order of magnitude greater in the pi pi* excited state than in the ground state. The finding that the twisting of the end ring in BPEB is relatively free in the ground state, but strongly hindered in the excited state, provides rationale for the well-known temperature dependence of the spectral shape of absorption and the lack of mirror symmetry relationship between the absorption and fluorescence at elevated temperatures.  相似文献

The geometries, electronic structures, and spectroscopic properties of a series of novel cationic iridium(III) complexes [trans-(C/N)(2)Ir(PH(3))(2)]+ (C/N = 2-phenylpyridine, 1; benzoquinoline, 2; 1-phenylpytazolato, 3; 2-(4,6-difluorophenyl)pyridimato, 4) were investigated theoretically. The ground- and excited-state geometries were optimized at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ and CIS/LANL2DZ levels, respectively. The optimized geometry structural parameters agree well with the corresponding experimental results. The unoccupied molecular orbitals are dominantly localized on the C/N ligand, while the occupied molecular orbitals are composed of Ir atom and C/N ligand. Under the time-dependent density functional theory (TDDFT) level with the polarized continuum model (PCM) model, the absorption and phosphorescence in acetonitrile (MeCN) media were calculated based on the optimized ground- and excited-state geometries, respectively. The calculated results showed that the lowest-lying absorptions at 364 nm (1), 389 nm (2), 317 nm (3), and 344 nm (4) are all attributed to a {[d(yz)(Ir) + pi(C/N)] --> [pi*(C/N)]} transition with metal-to-ligand and intraligand charge transfer (MLCT/ILCT) characters; moreover, the phosphorescence at 460 (1) and 442 nm (4) originates from the 3{[d(yz)(Ir) + pi(C/N)] [pi*(C/N)]} (3)MLCT/(3)ILCT excited state, while that at 505 (2) and 399 nm (3) can be described as originating from different types of (3)MLCT/(3)ILCT excited state (3){[d(xy)(Ir) + pi(C/N)] [pi*(C/N)]}. The calculated results also revealed that the absorption and emission transition character can be altered by adjusting the pi electron-withdrawing groups and, furthermore, suggested that the phosphorescent color can be tuned by changing the pi-conjugation effect of the C/N ligand.  相似文献

Molecular modeling demonstrates that the first excited state of the triplet ketone (T1K) in azide 1b has a (pi,pi*) configuration with an energy that is 66 kcal/mol above its ground state and its second excited state (T2K) is 10 kcal/mol higher in energy and has a (n,pi*) configuration. In comparison, T1K and T2K of azide 1a are almost degenerate at 74 and 77 kcal/mol above the ground state with a (n,pi*) and (pi,pi*) configuration, respectively. Laser flash photolysis (308 nm) of azide 1b in methanol yields a transient absorption (lambdamax=450 nm) due to formation of T1K, which decays with a rate of 2.1 x 105 s-1 to form triplet alkylnitrene 2b (lambdamax=320 nm). The lifetime of nitrene 2b was measured to be 16 ms. In contrast, laser flash photolysis (308 nm) of azide 1a produced transient absorption spectra due to formation of nitrene 2a (lambdamax=320 nm) and benzoyl radical 3a (lambdamax=370 nm). The decay of 3a is 2 x 105 s-1 in methanol, whereas nitrene 2a decays with a rate of approximately 91 s-1. Thus, T1K (pi,pi*) in azide 1b leads to energy transfer to form nitrene 2b; however, alpha-cleavage is not observed since the energy of T2K (n,pi*) is 10 kcal/mol higher in energy than T1K, and therefore, T2K is not populated. In azide 1a both alpha-cleavage and energy transfer are observed from T1K (n,pi*) and T2K (pi,pi*), respectively, since these triplet states are almost degenerate. Photolysis of azide 1a yields mainly product 4, which must arise from recombination of benzoyl radicals 3a with nitrenes 2a. However, products studies for azide 1b also yield 4b as the major product, even though laser flash photolysis of azide 1b does not indicate formation of benzoyl radical 3b. Thus, we hypothesize that benzoyl radicals 3 can also be formed from nitrenes 2. More specifically, nitrene 2 does undergo alpha-photocleavage to form benzoyl radicals and iminyl radicals. The secondary photolysis of nitrenes 2 is further supported with molecular modeling and product studies.  相似文献

Three series of cationic oligo p-phenyleneethynylenes (OPEs) have been synthesized to study their structure-property relationships and gain insights into the transition from molecular to macromolecular properties. The absorbance maxima and molar extinction coefficients in all three sets increase with increasing number of repeat units; however, the increase in λ(max) between the oligomers having 2 and 3 repeat units is very small, and the oligomer having 3 repeat units shows virtually the same spectra as a p-phenyleneethynylene polymer having 49 repeat units. A computational study of the oligomers using density functional theory calculations indicates that while the simplest oligomers (OPE-1) are fully conjugated, the larger oligomers are nonplanar and the limiting "segment chromophore" may be confined to a near-planar segment extending over three or four phenyl rings. Several of the OPEs self-assemble on anionic "scaffolds", with pronounced changes in absorption and fluorescence. Both experimental and computational results suggest that the planarization of discrete conjugated segments along the phenylene-ethynylene backbone is predominantly responsible for the photophysical characteristics of the assemblies formed from the larger oligomers. The striking differences in fluorescence between methanol and water are attributed to reversible nucleophilic attack of structured interfacial water on the excited singlet state.  相似文献

The view that the large red shifts seen in the UV-visible absorption bands of peripherally crowded nonplanar porphyrins are the result of nonplanar deformations of the macrocycle has recently been challenged by the suggestion that the red shifts arise from substituent-induced changes in the macrocycle bond lengths and bond angles, termed in-plane nuclear reorganization (IPNR). We have analyzed the contributions to the UV-visible band shifts in a series of nickel or zinc meso-tetraalkylporphyrins to establish the origins of the red shifts in these ruffled porphyrins. Structures were obtained using a molecular mechanics force field optimized for porphyrins, and the nonplanar deformations were quantified by using normal-coordinate structural decomposition (NSD). Transition energies were calculated by the INDO/S semiempirical method. These computational studies demonstrate conclusively that the large Soret band red shifts ( approximately 40 nm) seen for very nonplanar meso-tetra(tert-butyl)porphyrin compared to meso-tetra(methyl)porphyrin are primarily the result of nonplanar deformations and not IPNR. Strikingly, nonplanar deformations along the high-frequency 2B(1u) and 3B(1u) normal coordinates of the macrocycle are shown to contribute significantly to the observed red shifts, even though these deformations are an order of magnitude smaller than the observed ruffling (1B(1u)) deformation. Other structural and electronic influences on the UV-visible band shifts are discussed and problems with the recent studies are examined (e.g., the systematic underestimation of the 2B(1u) and 3B(1u) modes in artificially constrained porphyrin structures that leads to a mistaken attribution of the red shift to IPNR). The effect of nonplanar deformations on the UV-visible absorption bands is then probed experimentally with a series of novel bridled nickel chiroporphyrins. In these compounds, the substituent effect is essentially invariant and the amount of nonplanar deformation decreases as the length of the straps connecting adjacent meso-cyclopropyl substituents decreases (the opposite of the effect observed for conventional strapped porphyrins). Several spectroscopic markers for nonplanarity (UV-visible bands, resonance Raman lines, and (1)H NMR resonances) are found to correlate with time-averaged deformations obtained from an NSD analysis of molecular dynamics snapshot structures. These results suggest that UV-visible band shifts of tetrapyrroles in proteins are potentially useful indicators of changes in nonplanarity provided other structural and electronic factors can be eliminated.  相似文献

The total absorption spectrum of the UV absorber sodium 2-(2′-hydroxy-5′-methylphenyl) benzotriazole sulfonate (TINS) has been resolved into contributions by two ground-state forms in acetonitrile-water solvent mixtures and hydrogen bonding polymer and protein substrates. These two ground-state species can be assigned to (i) a planar intramolecularly hydrogen bonded form which can undergo the efficient nonradiative energy dissipation process of excited-state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT), and (ii) a fluorescent nonplanar species in which ESIPT is effectively prevented. The mole fractions of each contributing conformer in the polymeric substrates have been estimated. In all the polymer systems studied, a significant proportion of the TINS molecules exist in the nonplanar form and thus may not contribute to photostabilization of the substrate. The proportion of nonplanar molecules varied from 11 to 86% in synthetic polymers and 20 to 41% in protein substrates.  相似文献

The six isomeric trideuteriopyridines and the three isomeric tetradeuteriopyridines undergo phototransposition upon S0 --> S2 (pi, pi*) excitation in the vapor phase at 254 nm. On the basis of the products formed, the six trideuteriopyridine isomers can be divided into two triads. Similarly, the three isomeric tetradeuteriopyridines also constitute a triad. Irradiation of any one member of each triad results in the formation of the other two members of that triad. These isomerizations are consistent with a mechanism involving photocyclization, nitrogen migration around the five sides of the cyclopentenyl ring, and rearomatization.  相似文献

The synthesis and single-crystal X-ray structures of two quinacridone derivatives, N,N'-di(n-butyl)quinacridone (1) and N,N'-di(n-butyl)-1,3,8,10-tetramethylquinacridone (2), are reported, and the 1H NMR, absorption, photoluminescent (PL), and electroluminescent (EL) characteristics are presented. Both these crystal structures are characterized by intermolecular pi...pi and hydrogen bonding interactions. The intermolecular pi...pi interactions lead to the formation of molecular columns in the solids of 1 and 2, and the interplanar contact distances between two adjacent molecules are 3.48 and 3.55 angstroms, respectively. Crystals of 1 display shorter intermolecular pi...pi contacts and higher density than 2. These results suggest that tighter intermolecular interactions exist in 1. The 1H NMR, absorption, and PL spectra of 1 and 2 in solutions exhibit concentration-dependent properties. The PL quantum yields of 1 in solutions decrease more quickly with the increase of concentration compared to that of 2 in solutions. For solid thin films of Alq3:1 (Alq3 = tris(8-hydroxyquinolinato)aluminum), emission intensities dramatically decrease and obvious red shifts are observed when the dopant concentration is above 4.2%, while for films of Alq3:2, a similar phenomenon occurs when the concentration is above 6.7%. EL devices with Alq3:1 as emitting layer only show high efficiencies (20.3-14.5 cd/A) within the narrow dopant concentration range of 0.5-1.0%. In contrast, high efficiencies (21.5-12.0 cd/A) are achieved for a wider dopant concentration range of 0.5-5.0% when Alq3:2 films are employed as emitting layer. The different PL and EL concentration-dependent properties of the solid thin films Alq3:1 and Alq3:2 are attributed to their different molecular packing characteristics in the solid state.  相似文献

The series of novel mixed-ligand iridium(III) complexes Ir(Mebib)(ppy)X (Mebib = bis(N-methylbenzimidazolyl)benzene and ppy = phenylpyridine; X = Cl, 1; X = -C[triple band]CH, 2; X = CN, 3) have been investigated theoretically to explore their electronic structures and spectroscopic properties. The ground and excited state geometries have been fully optimized at the B3LYP/LANL2DZ and CIS/LANL2DZ levels, respectively. The optimized geometry structural parameters agree well with the corresponding experimental results. The HOMO of 1 and 3 are mainly localized on the Ir atom, Mebib, and ppy ligand, but that of 2 has significant X ligand composition. Absorptions and phosphorescences in CH2 Cl2 media have been calculated using the TD-DFT level of theory with the PCM model based on the optimized ground and excited state geometries, respectively. The lowest lying absorptions of 1 and 3 at 444 and 416 nm are attributed to a {[d(yz)(Ir) + pi(Mebib) + pi(ppy)] --> [pi*(Mebib)]} transition with metal-to-ligand, ligand-to-ligand, and intra-ligand charge transfer (MLCT/LLCT/ILCT) character, whereas that of 2 at 458 nm is related to a {[d(yz)(Ir) + pi(Mebib) + pi(ppy) + pi(C[triple band]CH)] --> [pi*(Mebib)]} transition with MLCT/LLCT/ILCT and X ligand-to-ligand charge transfer (XLCT) transition character. The phosphorescence of 1 and 3 at 565 and 543 nm originates from the 3{[dy(yz)(Ir) + pi(Mebib) + pi(ppy)] [pi*(Mebib)]} excited state, while that of 2 at 576 nm originates from the 3{[d(yz)(Ir) + pi(Mebib) + pi(ppy) + pi(C[triple band]CH)] [pi*(Mebib)]} excited state. The calculation results show that the absorption and emission transition character can be changed by altering the pi electron-withdrawing ability of the X ligand and the phosphorescent color can be tuned by adjusting the X ligand.  相似文献

The effects of ruffling on the axial ligation properties of a series of nickel(II) tetra(alkyl)porphyrins have been investigated with UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, resonance Raman spectroscopy, X-ray crystallography, classical molecular mechanics calculations, and normal-coordinate structural decomposition analysis. For the modestly nonplanar porphyrins, porphyrin ruffling is found to cause a decrease in binding affinity for pyrrolidine and piperidine, mainly caused by a decrease in the binding constant for addition of the first axial ligand; ligand binding is completely inhibited for the more nonplanar porphyrins. The lowered affinity, resulting from the large energies required to expand the core and flatten the porphyrin to accommodate the large high-spin nickel(II) ion, has implications for nickel porphyrin-based molecular devices and the function of heme proteins and methyl-coenzyme M reductase.  相似文献
