Inspired by the concept of deviation measure between two linguistic preference relations, this paper further defines the deviation measure of a linguistic preference relation to the set of consistent linguistic preference relations. Based on this, we present a consistency index of linguistic preference relations and develop a consistency measure method for linguistic preference relations. This method is performed to ensure that the decision maker is being neither random nor illogical in his or her pairwise comparisons using the linguistic label set. Using this consistency measure, we discuss how to deal with inconsistency in linguistic preference relations, and also investigate the consistency properties of collective linguistic preference relations. These results are of vital importance for group decision making with linguistic preference relations.  相似文献

A Pairwise Comparison Matrix (PCM) has been used to compute for relative priorities of elements and are integral components in widely applied decision making tools: the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and its generalized form, the Analytic Network Process (ANP). However, PCMs suffer from several issues limiting their applications to large-scale decision problems. These limitations can be attributed to the curse of dimensionality, that is, a large number of pairwise comparisons need to be elicited from a decision maker. This issue results to inconsistent preferences due to the limited cognitive powers of decision makers. To address these limitations, this research proposes a PCM decomposition methodology that reduces the elicited pairwise comparisons. A binary integer program is proposed to intelligently decompose a PCM into several smaller subsets using interdependence scores among elements. Since the subsets are disjoint, the most independent pivot element is identified to connect all subsets to derive the global weights of the elements from the original PCM. As a result, the number of pairwise comparison is reduced and consistency is of the comparisons is improved. The proposed decomposition methodology is applied to both AHP and ANP to demonstrate its advantages.  相似文献

Selecting relevant features to make a decision and expressing the relationships between these features is not a simple task. The decision maker must precisely define the alternatives and criteria which are more important for the decision making process. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) uses hierarchical structures to facilitate this process. The comparison is realized using pairwise matrices, which are filled in according to the decision maker judgments. Subsequently, matrix consistency is tested and priorities are obtained by calculating the matrix principal eigenvector. Given an incomplete pairwise matrix, two procedures must be performed: first, it must be completed with suitable values for the missing entries and, second, the matrix must be improved until a satisfactory level of consistency is reached. Several methods are used to fill in missing entries for incomplete pairwise matrices with correct comparison values. Additionally, once pairwise matrices are complete and if comparison judgments between pairs are not consistent, some methods must be used to improve the matrix consistency and, therefore, to obtain coherent results. In this paper a model based on the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) neural network is presented. Given an AHP pairwise matrix, this model is capable of completing missing values and improving the matrix consistency at the same time.  相似文献

Pairwise comparison is a popular assessment method either for deriving criteria-weights or for evaluating alternatives according to a given criterion. In real-world applications consistency of the comparisons rarely happens: intransitivity can occur. The aim of the paper is to discuss the relationship between the consistency of the decision maker—described with the error-free property—and the consistency of the pairwise comparison matrix (PCM). The concept of error-free matrix is used to demonstrate that consistency of the PCM is not a sufficient condition of the error-free property of the decision maker. Informed and uninformed decision makers are defined. In the first stage of an assessment method a consistent or near-consistent matrix should be achieved: detecting, measuring and improving consistency are part of any procedure with both types of decision makers. In the second stage additional information are needed to reveal the decision maker’s real preferences. Interactive questioning procedures are recommended to reach that goal.  相似文献

The decision making problem considered in this paper is to rank n alternatives from the best to the worst, using the information given by the decision maker in the form of an \(n\times n\) pairwise comparison matrix. Here, we deal with pairwise comparison matrices with fuzzy elements. Fuzzy elements of the pairwise comparison matrix are applied whenever the decision maker is not sure about the value of his/her evaluation of the relative importance of elements in question. We investigate pairwise comparison matrices with elements from abelian linearly ordered group (alo-group) over a real interval. The concept of reciprocity and consistency of pairwise comparison matrices with fuzzy elements have been already studied in the literature. Here, we define stronger concepts, namely the strong reciprocity and strong consistency of pairwise comparison matrices with fuzzy intervals as the matrix elements (PCF matrices), derive the necessary and sufficient conditions for strong reciprocity and strong consistency and investigate their properties as well as some consequences to the problem of ranking the alternatives.  相似文献

Evaluating the level of inconsistency of pairwise comparisons is often a crucial step in multi criteria decision analysis. Several inconsistency indices have been proposed in the literature to estimate the deviation of expert’s judgments from a situation of full consistency. This paper surveys and analyzes ten indices from the numerical point of view. Specifically, we investigate degrees of agreement between them to check how similar they are. Results show a wide range of behaviors, ranging from very strong to very weak degrees of agreement.  相似文献

Several decision-making techniques involve pairwise comparisons to elicit the preferences of a decision maker (DM). This paper proposes a new approach for prioritization from pairwise comparisons using the concept of indirect judgments. No method exists that simultaneously minimizes deviations from both direct and indirect judgments. In order to estimate preferences, it is sensible to consider both the acquired judgments and the other judgments latent in the DM’s mind. Hence, a technique is developed here to minimize the deviations from both types of judgments.  相似文献

Several known and newly introduced classes of positive reciprocal matrices emerging from pairwise comparisons in multiattribute decision problems are studied in the paper. Mainly qualitative features in connection with consistency and inconsistency are considered in order to extend the range of the available analytical methods regarding pairwise comparisons. By using graph representation of positive reciprocal matrices, graph theoretic approach is applied for the argumentation. The applied notions and the theorems developed in the paper can be useful for eliminating the illogical data that may occur during pairwise comparisons.  相似文献

In the analytic hierarchy process (AHP), a decision maker first gives linguistic pairwise comparisons, then obtains numerical pairwise comparisons by selecting certain numerical scale to quantify them, and finally derives a priority vector from the numerical pairwise comparisons. In particular, the validity of this decision-making tool relies on the choice of numerical scale and the design of prioritization method. By introducing a set of concepts regarding the linguistic variables and linguistic pairwise comparison matrices (LPCMs), and by defining the deviation measures of LPCMs, we present two performance measure algorithms to evaluate the numerical scales and the prioritization methods. Using these performance measure algorithms, we compare the most common numerical scales (the Saaty scale, the geometrical scale, the Ma–Zheng scale and the Salo–Hämäläinen scale) and the prioritization methods (the eigenvalue method and the logarithmic least squares method). In addition, we also discuss the parameter of the geometrical scale, develop a new prioritization method, and construct an optimization model to select the appropriate numerical scales for the AHP decision makers. The findings in this paper can help the AHP decision makers select suitable numerical scales and prioritization methods.  相似文献

In many outranking methods, the alternatives are first compared pairwise to build a valued outranking relation, which is then exploited to derive a recommendation for the decision maker. This paper proposes extensions of Arrow and Raynaud’s prudence principle to exploit a valued outranking relation, even in cases where the outranking values have an ordinal interpretation. The idea is to build a ranking that maximizes the weakest support for its implicit pairwise comparisons. We present a family of exploitation models providing three types of solutions, depending on the decision maker’s request: a linear order, a weak order, or a partial preorder. An algorithm is provided which solves the exploitation models. Relations between these models and some of their properties are also discussed.  相似文献

In a multi-attribute decision making problem, indigenous values are assigned to attributes based on a decision maker’s subjective judgments. The given judgments are often uncertain, because of the uncertainty of situations and intuitiveness of human judgments. In order to reflect the uncertainty in the assigned values, they are denoted as intervals whose widths represent the possibilities of attributes. Since it is difficult for a decision maker to assign values directly to attributes in case of more than two attributes, he/she gives a pairwise comparison matrix by comparing two attributes at one occasion. The given matrix contains two kinds of uncertainty, one is inconsistency among comparisons and the other is incompleteness of comparisons. This paper proposes the models to obtain intervals of attributes from the given uncertain pairwise comparison matrix. At first, the uncertainty indexes of a set of intervals are defined from the viewpoints of entropy in probability, sum or maximum of widths, or ignorance. Then, considering that too uncertain information is not useful, the intervals of attributes are obtained by minimizing their uncertainty indexes.  相似文献

The main concern of this article is to present the R UBIS method for tackling the choice problem in the context of multiple criteria decision aiding. Its genuine purpose is to help a decision maker to determine a single best decision alternative. Methodologically we focus on pairwise comparisons of these alternatives which lead to the concept of bipolar-valued outranking digraph. The work is centred around a set of five pragmatic principles which are required in the context of a progressive decision aiding methodology. Their thorough study and implementation in the outranking digraph lead us to define a choice recommendation as an extension of the classical digraph kernel concept.

In this paper we focus on an extension of the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) that accommodates ambiguity on the part of the decision maker (DM), and facilitates the exploration of the decision domain. We propose a systematic action learning process that builds confidence as it converges from numeric interval estimates to numeric point estimates. Our Multiple Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) problem procedure structures the problem as a hierarchy, evaluates all objects using pairwise comparisons that accommodate vagueness and ambiguity, uses interval prioritization techniques, and does synthesis using the linear additive value function. This action learning process facilitates the understanding of key stakeholders, which is imperative for the successful implementation of the subsequent decision.  相似文献

We present a new method, called ELECTREGKMS, which employs robust ordinal regression to construct a set of outranking models compatible with preference information. The preference information supplied by the decision maker (DM) is composed of pairwise comparisons stating the truth or falsity of the outranking relation for some real or fictitious reference alternatives. Moreover, the DM specifies some ranges of variation of comparison thresholds on considered pseudo-criteria. Using robust ordinal regression, the method builds a set of values of concordance indices, concordance thresholds, indifference, preference, and veto thresholds, for which all specified pairwise comparisons can be restored. Such sets are called compatible outranking models. Using these models, two outranking relations are defined, necessary and possible. Whether for an ordered pair of alternatives there is necessary or possible outranking depends on the truth of outranking relation for all or at least one compatible model, respectively. Distinguishing the most certain recommendation worked out by the necessary outranking, and a possible recommendation worked out by the possible outranking, ELECTREGKMS answers questions of robustness concern. The method is intended to be used interactively with incremental specification of pairwise comparisons, possibly with decreasing confidence levels. In this way, the necessary and possible outranking relations can be, respectively, enriched or impoverished with the growth of the number of pairwise comparisons. Furthermore, the method is able to identify troublesome pieces of preference information which are responsible for incompatibility. The necessary and possible outranking relations are to be exploited as usual outranking relations to work out recommendation in choice or ranking problems. The introduced approach is illustrated by a didactic example showing how ELECTREGKMS can support real-world decision problems.  相似文献

We present an outranking procedure that supports selection of alternatives represented by multiple attributes with interval valued data. The procedure is interactive in the sense that the decision maker directs the search for preferred alternatives by providing weights of the different attributes as well as parameters related to risk attitude and weighted dominance. The outranking relation builds on pairwise comparisons between optimistic and pessimistic weighted values as well as weighted dominance relations supported by volume based measures. The suggested procedure is referred to as the Weighted Overlap Dominance procedure (WOD).  相似文献

The analytic hierarchy process with stochastic judgements   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is a widely-used method for multicriteria decision support based on the hierarchical decomposition of objectives, evaluation of preferences through pairwise comparisons, and a subsequent aggregation into global evaluations. The current paper integrates the AHP with stochastic multicriteria acceptability analysis (SMAA), an inverse-preference method, to allow the pairwise comparisons to be uncertain. A simulation experiment is used to assess how the consistency of judgements and the ability of the SMAA-AHP model to discern the best alternative deteriorates as uncertainty increases. Across a range of simulated problems results indicate that, according to conventional benchmarks, judgements are likely to remain consistent unless uncertainty is severe, but that the presence of uncertainty in almost any degree is sufficient to make the choice of best alternative unclear.  相似文献

This paper introduces two new meta-objectives into the extended goal programming framework. The first meta-objective is the number of unmet goals and the second is a measure of closeness to the pairwise comparisons given by the decision maker. These complement the original two meta-objectives of the weighted sum of deviations and the maximal weighted deviation to provide a flexible four meta-objective framework. Lexicographic and non-lexicographic representations of the framework are developed. An example relating to transportation is solved in both the lexicographic and non-lexicographic forms. Weight sensitivity analysis is applied to the meta-weight parameters for the non-lexicographic case in order to find a range of available distinct solutions.  相似文献

In multiresponse surface optimization (MRSO), responses are often in conflict. To obtain a satisfactory compromise, the preference information of a decision maker (DM) on the tradeoffs among the responses should be incorporated into the problem. In most existing work, the DM expresses a subjective judgment on the responses through a preference parameter before the problem-solving process, after which a single solution is obtained. In this study, we propose a posterior preference articulation approach to MRSO. The approach initially finds a set of nondominated solutions without the DM’s preference information, and then allows the DM to select the best solution from among the nondominated solutions. An interactive selection method based on pairwise comparisons made by the DM is adopted in our method to facilitate the DM’s selection process. The proposed method does not require that the preference information be specified in advance. It is easy and effective in that a satisfactory compromise can be obtained through a series of pairwise comparisons, regardless of the type of the DM’s utility function.  相似文献
