 This paper is concerned with the approximation of the effective conductivity σ(A, μ) associated to an elliptic operator ∇ xA (x,η)∇ x where for xℝ d , d≥1, A(x,η) is a bounded elliptic random symmetric d×d matrix and η takes value in an ergodic probability space (X, μ). Writing A N (x, η) the periodization of A(x, η) on the torus T d N of dimension d and side N we prove that for μ-almost all η
We extend this result to non-symmetric operators ∇ x (a+E(x, η))∇ x corresponding to diffusions in ergodic divergence free flows (a is d×d elliptic symmetric matrix and E(x, η) an ergodic skew-symmetric matrix); and to discrete operators corresponding to random walks on ℤ d with ergodic jump rates. The core of our result is to show that the ergodic Weyl decomposition associated to 2(X, μ) can almost surely be approximated by periodic Weyl decompositions with increasing periods, implying that semi-continuous variational formulae associated to 2(X, μ) can almost surely be approximated by variational formulae minimizing on periodic potential and solenoidal functions.  Let X be one of the Banach spaces c 0 , ℓ p , 1≤p<∞; Ω⊂X pseudoconvex open, a holomorphic Banach vector bundle with a Banach Lie group G * for structure group. We show that a suitable Runge-type approximation hypothesis on X, G * (which we also prove for G * a solvable Lie group) implies the vanishing of the sheaf cohomology groups H q (Ω, 𝒪 E ), q≥1, with coefficients in the sheaf of germs of holomorphic sections of E. Further, letting 𝒪Γ (𝒞Γ) be the sheaf of germs of holomorphic (continuous) sections of a Banach Lie group bundle Γ→Ω with Banach Lie groups G, G * for fiber group and structure group, we show that a suitable Runge-type approximation hypothesis on X, G, G * (which we prove again for G, G * solvable Lie groups) implies the injectivity (and for X=ℓ1 also the surjectivity) of the Grauert–Oka map H 1 (Ω, 𝒪Γ)→H 1 (Ω, 𝒞Γ) of multiplicative cohomology sets. In 1934, Whitney raised the question of how to recognize whether a function f defined on a closed subset X of ℝ n is the restriction of a function of class 𝒞 p . A necessary and sufficient criterion was given in the case n=1 by Whitney, using limits of finite differences, and in the case p=1 by Glaeser (1958), using limits of secants. We introduce a necessary geometric criterion, for general n and p, involving limits of finite differences, that we conjecture is sufficient at least if X has a “tame topology”. We prove that, if X is a compact subanalytic set, then there exists q=q X (p) such that the criterion of order q implies that f is 𝒞 p . The result gives a new approach to higher-order tangent bundles (or bundles of differential operators) on singular spaces. Fordc + 6 (i.e.r ≥ 3) we construct this curve on a surface of degree 2r-2 in ℙr, and fordc + 8 (i.e.r ≥ 4) we show that such a curve cannot be found on a surface in ℙr of smaller degree.  Let ω(G) be the clique number of a graph G. We prove that if G runs over the set of graphs with a fixed degree sequence d, then the values ω(G) completely cover a line segment [a,b] of positive integers. For an arbitrary graphic degree sequence d, we define min(ω,d) and max(ω,d) as follows:
where is the graph of realizations of d. Thus the two invariants a:=min(ω,d) and b:=max(ω,d) naturally arise. For a graphic degree sequence d=r n :=(r,r,…,r) where r is the vertex degree and n is the number of vertices, the exact values of a and b are found in all situations. Since the independence number, α(G)=ω(Gˉ), we obtain parallel results for the independence number of graphs. Summary.  A parametric curve fL 2 (m) ([a,b]ℝ d ) is a ``near-interpolant' to prescribed data z ij ℝ d at data sites t i [a,b] within tolerances 0<ɛ ij ≤∞ if |f (j−1) (t i )−z ij |≤ɛ ij for i=1:n and j=1:m, and a ``best near-interpolant' if it also minimizes ∫ a b |f (m) |2. In this paper optimality conditions are derived for these best near-interpolants. Based on these conditions it is shown that the near-interpolants are actually smoothing splines with weights that appear as Lagrange multipliers corresponding to the constraints. The optimality conditions are applied to the computation of near-interpolants in the last sections of the paper.  We study the robustness under perturbations of mixing times, by studying mixing times of random walks in percolation clusters inside boxes in Z d . We show that for d≥2 and p>p c (Z d ), the mixing time of simple random walk on the largest cluster inside is Θ(n 2 ) – thus the mixing time is robust up to a constant factor. The mixing time bound utilizes the Lovàsz-Kannan average conductance method. This is the first non-trivial application of this method which yields a tight result. We prove that the set K(f) of generalized critical values of f is contained in the algebraic hypersurface of degree at most D=(d+s(m−1)(d−1)) n , where .  Many results of classical Potential Theory are extended to sub-Laplacians ▵𝔾 on Carnot groups 𝔾. Some characterizations of ▵𝔾-subharmonicity, representation formulas of Poisson-Jensen's kind and Nevanlinna-type theorems are proved. We consider a variation of a classical Turán-type extremal problem as follows: Determine the smallest even integer σ(Kr,r,n) such that every n-term graphic sequence π = (d1,d2,...,dn) with term sum σ(π) = d1 + d2 + ... + dn ≥ σ(Kr,r,n) is potentially Kr,r-graphic, where Kr,r is an r × r complete bipartite graph, i.e. π has a realization G containing Kr,r as its subgraph. In this paper, the values σ(Kr,r,n) for even r and n ≥ 4r2 - r - 6 and for odd r and n ≥ 4r2 + 3r - 8 are determined.  相似文献

 A percolation problem on Sierpinski carpet lattices is considered. It is obtained that the critical probability of oriented percolation is equal to 1. In contrast it was already shown that the critical probability p c of percolation is strictly less than 1 in Kumagai [9]. This result shows a difference between fractal-like lattice and ℤ d lattice.  We derive a precise Ornstein-Zernike asymptotic formula for the decay of the two-point function 〈Σ0Σ x β in the general context of finite range Ising type models on ℤ d . The proof relies in an essential way on the a-priori knowledge of the strict exponential decay of the two-point function and, by the sharp characterization of phase transition due to Aizenman, Barsky and Fernández, goes through in the whole of the high temperature region β<β c . As a byproduct we obtain that for every β<β c , the inverse correlation length ξβ is an analytic and strictly convex function of direction.  Subordination of a killed Brownian motion in a bounded domain D⊂ℝ d via an α/2-stable subordinator gives a process Z t whose infinitesimal generator is −(−Δ| D )α/2, the fractional power of the negative Dirichlet Laplacian. In this paper we study the properties of the process Z t in a Lipschitz domain D by comparing the process with the rotationally invariant α-stable process killed upon exiting D. We show that these processes have comparable killing measures, prove the intrinsic ultracontractivity of the generator of Z t , prove the intrinsic ultracontractivity of the semigroup of Z t , and, in the case when D is a bounded C 1,1 domain, obtain bounds on the Green function and the jumping kernel of Z t .
