The usual way of obtaining rate equations (RE) and a single equation for the field amplitude (EFA) from the semiclassical laser equations (Lorenz-Haken model) is reexamined by undertaking a systematic elimination procedure developed in synergetics. The RE and EFA are justified in the case 1 (, ) and case 2 (, ), respectively. We show that, because the eliminated variable happens to contain a considerable contribution from an unstable mode, the usual elimination technique in the case 3 (, ) leads to an inconsistency. As important by-products we obtain the RE and EFA for arbitrary cavity relaxation constant (). Some remarks are given on the direct elimination technique in the non-diagonal representation in the study of instabilities.  相似文献

Under weak technical assumptions on a net of local von Neumann algebras {A(O)} in a Hilbert space , which are fulfilled by any net associated to a quantum field satisfying the standard axioms, it is shown that for every vector state in there exist observables localized in complementary wedge-shaped regions in Minkowski space-time that maximally violate Bell's inequalities in the state . If, in addition, the algebras corresponding to wedge-shaped regions are injective (which is known to be true in many examples), then the maximal violation occurs in any state on () given by a density matrix.  相似文献

Here is a certain class of nonnegative, Riemann integrable functions,D is a cube of volume |D|, anda 0() is the free energy density of a system withK=0 and density . Removing a black hole conic singularity by means of Kruskal representation is equivalent to imposing extensibility on the Kasner–Fronsdal local isometric embedding of the corresponding black hole geometry. Allowing for globally non-trivial embeddings, living in Kaluza–Klein-like M 5 × S 1 (rather than in standard Minkowski M 6 ) and parametrized by some wave number k, extensibility can be achieved for apparently forbidden frequencies in the range 1 (k) 2 (k). As k 0, 1, 2 (0) H (e.g., H = 1/4M in the Schwarzschild case) such that the Hawking–Gibbons limit is fully recovered. The various Kruskal sheets are then viewed as slices of the Kaluza–Klein background. Euclidean k discreteness, dictated by imaginary time periodicity, is correlated with flux quantization of the underlying embedding gauge field.  相似文献

Nuclear emulsions were used to study the energy spectrum and forward-backward asymmetry of neutrons from the Co59(p,n) reaction forE p 6·5 MeV. It was found that the decay of the compound nucleus makes a maximum contribution of 50% to the reaction yield. Energies of some excited states of the Ni59 nucleus were also determined.

The damping of particle oscillations in a general field with periodic structure I
A liner theory is derived, discussing the dynamics of particles in the region of an equilibrium orbit in a general electromagnetic field, which forms a periodic system. The total particle damping is determined from the Hamiltonian found and from dissipative forces brought out by a classical reaction radiation. Relations for the damping of the synchrotron oscillations are derived from the study of the appropriate phase space.

We define a covariant and gauge-invariant generalization of the Wigner functions of particles with spins 1/2 and 0. The collisionless kinetic equations are obtained for these particles in external gravitational and electromagnetic fields in the quasiclassical approximation; also obtained are the momentum representations of the energy-momentum tensor, current, and spin tensor, taking into account the effects of the spin's interaction with the gravitational field an electromagnetic field. To determine the mechanism of the amplification of moving striations one starts out from the processes which [3] showed to be decisive for the production of stratification of the plasma of a positive column. An analysis of the influence of other processes shows that the main processes leading to the decay of space charges and thus to a smoothing out of the inhomogeneities and thereby to the attenuation of the periodic structure, cannot by overcome by ionization phenomena caused by changes in the concentration of electrons but only partially compensated.It was found that the process which can lead to the predomination of the processes of amplification over the attenuation is the process of the spatial shift of the temperature deflections of the electrons with respect to the additional electric field, which is expressed in a simplified way by Eq. (12).By solving the extremely simplified basic equations it is proved that under favourable conditions this displacement can lead to both a time and a spatial amplification of the striations. Such a possibility is also verified quantitatively by substituting numerical values into the formulae obtained.

On the basis of general summation formulae for light reflected and transmitted by a thin film the author derives formulae for a thin dielectric film, for a thin metallic film and for a system of thin dielectric films. This solution is based on Stokes's principle of reversibility, which is the idea unifying the cases into one theory. In conclusion he gives the solution of a general case, dealing with light reflected and transmitted by a system of thin dielectric and metallic films.

Deviations of nuclear magnetic moments of oddA nuclei from the Schmidt lines are explained by configuration mixing. The general results obtained are applied to several nuclei and the magnitudes of the admixture coefficients necessary to explain the deviations are estimated. The results show that the deviations can be successfully explained only for those nuclei, in which possible configuration admixtures give contributions to the magnetic moment linear in the admixture coefficient.

The possibility of explaining non-zero electroluminescence brightness below the minimum ionization voltage by the influence of thermal velocities of electrons is pointed out; the derived voltage dependence of electroluminescence brightness agrees with the measurements in [1].

Bohr's 1930 derivation of the uncertainty relation c 2 m th bears a close relationship to Einstein's 1913 derivation of the gravitational redshift via the equivalence principle. A rewording of Bohr's argument is presented here, not taking the last step of acceleration as equivalent to a uniform gravity field, thus yielding a derivation of the formula c 2 m th, avoiding Treder's 1971 objection.  相似文献

The vapour jets of electrode material of a short-time high-intensity electric discharge
The velocity of vapours from electrodes and the values of the electric gradient of the channel were measured. An explanation is given of the dependence of the discharge rate of the vapours on the electrode material and the thermal origin of the jets is confirmed. The validity of the results is shown for the case of a different experimental arrangement, or the formation of other types of discharges on electrodes.

The possibility to obtain information on n scattering at intermediate energies from the reaction dnp is analyzed. To this aim, the differential cross sectiond 3 /d ,d n dE n and the scattering asymmetry with linearly polarized photons are calculated at photon energies 100 to 400 MeV in the diagrammatic approach. The pole diagrams of the impulse approximation are evaluated with realistic n and p scattering amplitudes. One-loop diagrams withnp rescattering in the final state and with meson-exchange and isobar currents are taken into account as well. The main contribution to the differential cross sectiond 3 /d ,d n dE n in the kinematics of quasi-free n scattering arises from the neutron pole diagram. The correction due to other diagrams is typically –30% to –10% and decreases with increasing photon energy and momentum transfer. The sensitivity of the cross sections to the magnitude of the neutron electric polarizability and to the sign of the 02 decay constant is demonstrated.  相似文献

Using Van Vleck's modification of the Heisenberg theory of ferro-magnetism for substances with arbitrary spin per atom, a generalization of the theory is given for the case of ferrimagnetics, anti-ferromagnetics and thin films with an arbitrary number of sub-lattices and with arbitrary spin per atom. The exchange part of the energy operator is formulated by means of rotated spin operators. The theory contains the quantum-mechanical generalization of non-quantum theories given by Néel and later generalized by Yafet and Kittel. It also contains the theory of thin films proposed recently by the author. The magnetization laws are completely analogous to the relations derived from the theory of molecular fields. The constants of the molecular fields are interpreted by means of exchange integrals. For the special case of spin S=1/2the theory agrees with the results of the work of Vlasov and Imuchametov for ferrimagnetics and anti-ferromagnetics and with the author's for thin films.
