Multimicrogratings are one-off written on silicate glass by two interfered femtosecond pulsed laser beams with the aid of a mask. The period and depth of the multimicrogratings are revealed by optical microscopy and atomic force microscopy. The depth is dependent on both the colliding angle between the two interfered laser beams and the laser pulse energy, but the period relies on the colliding angle only. We also observe a series of grooves formed at the middle of each bulge of the multimicrogratings and attribute it to the higher-order modulation arising from second-harmonic generation of the femtosecond laser pulse during the one-off writing processes. 相似文献

Modulation grating has been achieved by two interfered femtosecond laser pulses on the surface of the silica glass. The modulation grating formed at the middle of each bulge of the common grating and was attributed to the higher-order modulation arising from second-harmonic generation (SHG) of the femtosecond laser pulse incident to the surface of silica glass. The periods and depths of the fundamental grating and the modulation grating have been observed by using an atomic force microscopy (AFM). Experimental results show that the average depth of the modulation grating is nearly a half of the depth of the fundamental grating. 相似文献

A simple method for generating multiple isolated femtosecond pulses by step gratings is presented, and a criterion for judging whether or not an incident pulse is just split into multiple independent pulses is obtained. The dependences of multiple pulses on the structural parameters of the step gratings are explored. The results show that an incident pulse can split into multiple isolated similar diffraction pulses for enough step height, and the pulse repetition interval increases with the increasing of the step height. 相似文献

We characterize the gratings induced in commercial SF57 glass by femtosecond pulses. A simple technique enables us to measure both the real and the imaginary parts of the refractive index and shows that the induced grating is mainly a phase grating. An index variation of as much as 6x10(-3) is reported. Then we study the diffraction efficiency of the grating with respect to the intensity of the femtosecond pulse. Permanent structures are induced above the damage threshold. Below this threshold, the grating relaxes. The long-time dynamics of the decay is studied and described by two models. The formation of transient and permanent gratings in various other glasses is observed. 相似文献

Fiber Bragg gratings were written in thulium-doped and undoped single-mode ZBLAN fibers by focusing femtosecond laser pulses on the fiber core through a phase mask. Maximum index modulation of the order of 1 x 10(-3) was induced in both types of fibers. Measurements of the transverse refractive index changes across the core and cladding regions indicate that the grating formation originates from a negative index change. 相似文献

We have fabricated long-period fiber gratings by use of a novel technique using focused irradiation of infrared femtosecond laser pulses. We investigate the thermal stability of the fabricated fiber gratings. The values of the loss peak wavelength and the transmittance of the fiber gratings after heat treatment below 500 degrees C are the same as initial values before heat treatment. The fiber gratings that were fabricated by this technique have a high resistance to thermal decay. We propose that this technique will be useful for fabrication of fiber gratings with a superior aging characteristic. 相似文献

We demonstrate a novel all-optical scheme for measuring the correlation of spectrally phase-coded ultrashort optical waveforms that uses second-harmonic generation (SHG) in long, periodically poled lithium niobate crystals. The SHG yield can be controlled over a range of ~30 dB, depending on the correlation of the applied phase codes. Such a spectral phase correlator has applications for ultrashort-pulse optical code-division multiple-access networking and could serve as a nonlinear optical but classical analog for certain schemes for coherent quantum control of multiphoton processes. 相似文献

基于由光子晶体光纤飞秒激光器产生的高重复频率飞秒激光搭建了飞秒激光微加工系统,利用LabVIEW编写程序精密控制三维移动平台的移动路径和高速快门,在加工功率为1.5W、移动速率为1mm/s时,利用直写技术在无胶铬版上得到了微米量级的任意形状的平面衍射光栅。利用CCD相机对光栅制备过程进行实时监视,保证了光栅的加工质量。制备的光栅在显微镜下观察,条纹边缘清晰、线纹粗细均匀。使用He-Ne激光照射加工的光栅,可以获得清晰、稳定、与理论符合很好的夫琅和费(Frauhofer)衍射图样,显示了所加工的光栅具有良好的光学性能。实验结果也表明了光子晶体光纤飞秒激光在光栅制作过程中所具备的良好的加工性能。 相似文献

Two-dimensional periodic microstructures, including both microholes and micro-orbicular platforms, have been fabricated on the surface of silica glass by a single shot of three interfered femtosecond laser pulses. The three-dimensional structure of a fabricated hexagonal lattice can be revealed by atomic force microscopy. We investigated the generation of cascaded four-wave mixing (CFWM) sidebands by using two crossing chirped femtosecond pulses with the same central wavelength in tellurite glass (Te glass). Sidebands of broadband spectra, which contained non-degenerate and degenerate CFWM signals, were obtained at different delay time between two input pulses. The CFWM sidebands observed on different sides of input beams were flexibly controlled by adjusting the delay time. 相似文献

An inherent property of the ultrashort pulse lasers used presently for materials processing is that the main pulse is accompanied by an amplified spontaneous emission background. The temporal quality of the pulses is characterized by the temporal contrast. Due to the 5-6 orders of magnitude difference in the duration of the main pulse and the pedestal, high intensity contrast does not mean necessarily high enough difference in the respective energies. In materials processing applications consideration of the energy contrast is advisable. The importance of the contrast in determining the ablation process is exemplified by the dependence of the ablation rate of boron carbide on the cleanness of the pulses of a high brightness hybrid dye/excimer laser system. It is shown that serious consideration of the effects of the nanosecond background is mandatory when evaluating the results. 相似文献

Fabrication of surface relief-type gratings in transparent dielectrics, which are hard to machine, has been achieved by a
holographic technique using two infrared femtosecond (fs) pulses from a mode-locked Ti:sapphire laser. The present method
can be applied for a variety of transparent dielectrics, Al2O3 (sapphire), TiO2, ZrO2, LiNbO3, SiC, ZnO, CdF2, MgO, CaF2 crystals, and SiO2 glass. It is found that the grating formation is due primarily to laser ablation processes. Planar surface relief gratings
can be fabricated by colliding two fs laser pulses on the surface of substrates which move at a constant speed, synchronized
with the laser repetition rate.

理论上研究了两束交叉传播的激光束与等离子体相互作用产生的电子和离子密度调制. 用一维粒子模拟程序(particle-in-cell,PIC)研究了两束激光脉冲产生的干涉场激发的等离子体布拉格光栅. 研究表明等离子体初始密度、脉冲强度和宽度共同影响等离子体布拉格光栅的演化. 光栅的密度峰值可以达到初始等离子体密度的8倍以上,并且可以维持几皮秒的时间. 等离子体布拉格光栅可以囚禁由受激拉曼散射形成的电磁孤子,从而形成准稳态的孤子结构,很大程度上降低了形成电磁孤子所要求的激光脉冲强度.

We present volume Bragg gratings (VBGs) with a period of 1.075 μm inscribed in fused silica using a femtosecond laser and
a phase mask. The femtosecond-inscribed VBGs can be used as reflecting elements with reflectivities of about 80% for a 1-mm-long
grating. Due to the non-sinusoidal refractive-index shape, higher order Bragg resonances up to the 7th reflection order could

We report on the fabrication of highly efficient fiber Bragg gratings (FBG) in non-photosensitive fibers based on nonlinear absorption of fs laser light. Up to 40 mm long gratings with a transmission of T=-25 dB at the Bragg reflection wavelength were obtained and their coupling constant determined by spectral analysis. The generation of relativistic electromagnetic solitons in plasma with spatiotemporal density modulation is investigated.
When two counter-propagating laser pulses overlap in underdense plasma, the interaction between the pulses and plasma modulates
the electron and ion densities resulting in localized, stable, long-living relativistic electromagnetic solitons. They are
caused by the Stimulated Raman Scattering instability. The dependence of the formation of relativistic electromagnetic solitons
