The convergence properties of q-Bernstein polynomials are investigated. When q1 is fixed the generalized Bernstein polynomials nf of f, a one parameter family of Bernstein polynomials, converge to f as n→∞ if f is a polynomial. It is proved that, if the parameter 0<q<1 is fixed, then nff if and only if f is linear. The iterates of nf are also considered. It is shown that nMf converges to the linear interpolating polynomial for f at the endpoints of [0,1], for any fixed q>0, as the number of iterates M→∞. Moreover, the iterates of the Boolean sum of nf converge to the interpolating polynomial for f at n+1 geometrically spaced nodes on [0,1].  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss properties of the ω,q-Bernstein polynomials introduced by S. Lewanowicz and P. Woźny in [S. Lewanowicz, P. Woźny, Generalized Bernstein polynomials, BIT 44 (1) (2004) 63–78], where fC[0,1], ω,q>0, ω≠1,q−1,…,qn+1. When ω=0, we recover the q-Bernstein polynomials introduced by [G.M. Phillips, Bernstein polynomials based on the q-integers, Ann. Numer. Math. 4 (1997) 511–518]; when q=1, we recover the classical Bernstein polynomials. We compute the second moment of , and demonstrate that if f is convex and ω,q(0,1) or (1,∞), then are monotonically decreasing in n for all x[0,1]. We prove that for ω(0,1), qn(0,1], the sequence converges to f uniformly on [0,1] for each fC[0,1] if and only if limn→∞qn=1. For fixed ω,q(0,1), we prove that the sequence converges for each fC[0,1] and obtain the estimates for the rate of convergence of by the modulus of continuity of f, and the estimates are sharp in the sense of order for Lipschitz continuous functions.  相似文献

We introduce polynomials B n i (x;ω|q), depending on two parameters q and ω, which generalize classical Bernstein polynomials, discrete Bernstein polynomials defined by Sablonnière, as well as q-Bernstein polynomials introduced by Phillips. Basic properties of the new polynomials are given. Also, formulas relating B n i (x;ω|q), big q-Jacobi and q-Hahn (or dual q-Hahn) polynomials are presented. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Recently, q-Bernstein polynomials have been intensively investigated by a number of authors. Their results show that for q ≠ 1, q-Bernstein polynomials possess of many interesting properties. In this paper, the convergence rate for iterates of both q-Bernstein polynomials and their Boolean sum are estimated. Moreover, the saturation of {Bn(., qn)} when n → ∞ and convergence rate of Bn(f,q;x) when f ∈ C^n-1 [0, 1], q → ∞ are also presented.  相似文献

The rate of convergence of q-Bernstein polynomials for   总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
In the note, we obtain the estimates for the rate of convergence for a sequence of q-Bernstein polynomials {Bn,q(f)} for 0<q<1 by the modulus of continuity of f, and the estimates are sharp with respect to the order for Lipschitz continuous functions. We also get the exact orders of convergence for a family of functions , and the orders do not depend on α, unlike the classical case.  相似文献

An affine de Casteljau type algorithm to compute q-Bernstein Bézier curves is introduced and its intermediate points are obtained explicitly in two ways. Furthermore we define a tensor product patch, based on this algorithm, depending on two parameters. Degree elevation procedure is studied. The matrix representation of tensor product patch is given and we find the transformation matrix between a classical tensor product Bézier patch and a tensor product q-Bernstein Bézier patch. Finally, q-Bernstein polynomials B n,m (f;x,y) for a function f(x,y), (x,y)∈[0,1]×[0,1] are defined and fundamental properties are discussed. AMS subject classification (2000)  65D17  相似文献

In the paper, we discuss Voronovskaya-type theorem and saturation of convergence for q-Bernstein polynomials for arbitrary fixed q, 0<q<1. We give explicit formulas of Voronovskaya-type for the q-Bernstein polynomials for 0<q<1. If , we show that the rate of convergence for the q-Bernstein polynomials is o(qn) if and only ifWe also prove that if f is convex on [0,1] or analytic on (-ε,1+ε) for some ε>0, then the rate of convergence for the q-Bernstein polynomials is o(qn) if and only if f is linear.  相似文献

Since in the case q > 1, q-Bernstein polynomials are not positive linear operators on C[0,1], the study of their approximation properties is essentially more difficult than that for 0<q<1. Despite the intensive research conducted in the area lately, the problem of describing the class of functions in C[0,1] uniformly approximated by their q-Bernstein polynomials (q > 1) remains open. It is known that the approximation occurs for functions admit ting an analytic continuation into a disc {z:|z| < R}, R > 1. For functions without such an assumption, no general results on approximation are available. In this paper, it is shown that the function f(x) = ln (x + a), a > 0, is uniformly approximated by its q-Bernstein polynomials (q > 1) on the interval [0,1] if and only if a ≥ 1.   相似文献

Let {pk(x; q)} be any system of the q-classical orthogonal polynomials, and let be the corresponding weight function, satisfying the q-difference equation Dq(σ)=τ, where σ and τ are polynomials of degree at most 2 and exactly 1, respectively. Further, let {pk(1)(x;q)} be associated polynomials of the polynomials {pk(x; q)}. Explicit forms of the coefficients bn,k and cn,k in the expansions
are given in terms of basic hypergeometric functions. Here k(x) equals xk if σ+(0)=0, or (x;q)k if σ+(1)=0, where σ+(x)σ(x)+(q−1)xτ(x). The most important representatives of those two classes are the families of little q-Jacobi and big q-Jacobi polynomials, respectively.Writing the second-order nonhomogeneous q-difference equation satisfied by pn−1(1)(x;q) in a special form, recurrence relations (in k) for bn,k and cn,k are obtained in terms of σ and τ.  相似文献

Korovkin-type theorem and application   总被引:9,自引:1,他引:8
Let (Ln) be a sequence of positive linear operators on C[0,1], satisfying that (Ln(ei)) converge in C[0,1] (not necessarily to ei) for i=0,1,2, where ei(x)=xi. We prove that the conditions that (Ln) is monotonicity-preserving, convexity-preserving and variation diminishing do not suffice to insure the convergence of (Ln(f)) for all fC[0,1]. We obtain the Korovkin-type theorem and give quantitative results for the approximation properties of the q-Bernstein operators Bn,q as an application.  相似文献

Dual generalized Bernstein basis   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The generalized Bernstein basis in the space Πn of polynomials of degree at most n, being an extension of the q-Bernstein basis introduced by Philips [Bernstein polynomials based on the q-integers, Ann. Numer. Math. 4 (1997) 511–518], is given by the formula [S. Lewanowicz, P. Woźny, Generalized Bernstein polynomials, BIT Numer. Math. 44 (2004) 63–78],
We give explicitly the dual basis functions for the polynomials , in terms of big q-Jacobi polynomials Pk(x;a,b,ω/q;q), a and b being parameters; the connection coefficients are evaluations of the q-Hahn polynomials. An inverse formula—relating big q-Jacobi, dual generalized Bernstein, and dual q-Hahn polynomials—is also given. Further, an alternative formula is given, representing the dual polynomial (0jn) as a linear combination of min(j,n-j)+1 big q-Jacobi polynomials with shifted parameters and argument. Finally, we give a recurrence relation satisfied by , as well as an identity which may be seen as an analogue of the extended Marsden's identity [R.N. Goldman, Dual polynomial bases, J. Approx. Theory 79 (1994) 311–346].  相似文献

Let Bn (f, q; x), n=1, 2, ... , 0 < q < ∞, be the q-Bernstein polynomials of a function f, Bn (f, 1; x) being the classical Bernstein polynomials. It is proved that, in general, {Bn (f, qn; x)} with qn ↓ 1 is not an approximating sequence for fC[0, 1], in contrast to the standard case qn ↓ 1. At the same time, there exists a sequence 0 < δn ↓ 0 such that the condition implies the approximation of f by {Bn (f, qn; x)} for all fC[0, 1]. Received: 15 March 2005  相似文献

In this paper, the approximation properties of q-Durrmeyer operators Dn,q(f;x) for fC[0,1] are discussed. The exact class of continuous functions satisfying approximation process limnDn,q(f;x)=f(x) is determined. The results of the paper provide an elaboration of the previously-known ones on operators Dn,q.  相似文献

Let be compact with #S=∞ and let C(S) be the set of all real continuous functions on S. We ask for an algebraic polynomial sequence (Pn)n=0 with deg Pn=n such that every fC(S) has a unique representation f=∑i=0 αiPi and call such a basis Faber basis. In the special case of , 0<q<1, we prove the existence of such a basis. A special orthonormal Faber basis is given by the so-called little q-Legendre polynomials. Moreover, these polynomials state an example with A(Sq)≠U(Sq)=C(Sq), where A(Sq) is the so-called Wiener algebra and U(Sq) is the set of all fC(Sq) which are uniquely represented by its Fourier series.  相似文献

The paper aims to investigate the convergence of the q  -Bernstein polynomials Bn,q(f;x)Bn,q(f;x) attached to rational functions in the case q>1q>1. The problem reduces to that for the partial fractions (x−α)−j(xα)j, j∈NjN. The already available results deal with cases, where either the pole α   is simple or α≠q−mαqm, m∈N0mN0. Consequently, the present work is focused on the polynomials Bn,q(f;x)Bn,q(f;x) for the functions of the form f(x)=(x−q−m)−jf(x)=(xqm)j with j?2j?2. For such functions, it is proved that the interval of convergence of {Bn,q(f;x)}{Bn,q(f;x)} depends not only on the location, but also on the multiplicity of the pole – a phenomenon which has not been considered previously.  相似文献

A special case of the big q-Jacobi polynomials Pn(x;a,b,c;q), which corresponds to a=b=−c, is shown to satisfy a discrete orthogonality relation for imaginary values of the parameter a (outside of its commonly known domain 0<a<q−1). Since Pn(x;qα,qα,−qα;q) tend to Gegenbauer (or ultraspherical) polynomials in the limit as q→1, this family represents another q-extension of these classical polynomials, different from the continuous q-ultraspherical polynomials of Rogers. For a dual family with respect to the polynomials Pn(x;a,a,−a;q) (i.e., for dual discrete q-ultraspherical polynomials) we also find new orthogonality relations with extremal measures.  相似文献

We show that the only orthogonal polynomials satisfying a q-difference equation of the form π(x)D q P n (x) = (α n x + β n )P n (x) + γ n P n−1(x) where π(x) is a polynomial of degree 2, are the Al-Salam Carlitz 1, little and big q-Laguerre, the little and big q-Jacobi, and the q-Bessel polynomials. This is a q-analog of the work carried out in [1]. 2000 Mathematics Subject Classification Primary—33C45, 33D45  相似文献

We introduce operators of q-fractional integration through inverses of the Askey–Wilson operator and use them to introduce a q-fractional calculus. We establish the semigroup property for fractional integrals and fractional derivatives. We study properties of the kernel of q-fractional integral and show how they give rise to a q-analogue of Bernoulli polynomials, which are now polynomials of two variables, x and y. As q→1 the polynomials become polynomials in xy, a convolution kernel in one variable. We also evaluate explicitly a related kernel of a right inverse of the Askey–Wilson operator on an L2 space weighted by the weight function of the Askey–Wilson polynomials.  相似文献

For a certain class of discrete approximation operators Bnf defined on an interval I and including, e.g., the Bernstein polynomials, we prove that for all f ε C(I), the ordinary moduli of continuity of Bnf and f satisfy ω(Bnf; h) cω(f; h), N = 1,2,…, 0 < h < ∞, with a universal constant c > 0. A similar result is shown to hold for a different modulus of continuity which is suitable for functions of polynomial growth on unbounded intervals. Some special operators are discussed in this connection.  相似文献

Let f∈C[0,1],and Bn(f,x) be the a-th Bernstein polynomial associated with function f.ln 1967,the limit of iterates for B.(f,x) was given by Kelisky and Rivlin. After this,Many mathematicians studied and generalized this result. But anyway, all these discussions are only for univariate case ,In this paper, the main contrlbution is that the limit of lterates for Bernstein polynomial defined on a triangle is given completely.  相似文献
