The collective charge density excitations in asymmetric double-quantum-well (DQW) structures with different tunneling strengths are systematically studied. In particular, the damping properties of the plasmon modes in various tunneling strengths are investigated in detail. It is shown that plasmon modes in asymmetric DQW structures are quite different from those in symmetric DQW systems. In weak tunneling regime, an intra-subband mode ω - with an acoustic-like dispersion relation which is damped in symmetric DQW structures arises and coexists with the optical-like mode ω + while the inter-subband mode ω 10 is highly damped. With the tunneling strength being increased, the ω 10 branch gradually becomes undamped and emerges out of the (1-0) single-particle continuum, whereas the ω - branch gradually approaches the (0-0) single-particle continuum. In intermediate coupling regime, these three branches of modes coexist undamped. In strong tunneling regime, ω - enters the (0-0) single-particle continuum and becomes damped. Consequently, only the ω + and ω 10 modes exist in this regime. Received 10 July 2001 and Received in final form 17 September 2001  相似文献

We develop a non-perturbative local moment approach (LMA) for the gapped Anderson impurity model (GAIM), in which a locally correlated orbital is coupled to a host with a gapped density of states. Two distinct phases arise, separated by a level-crossing quantum phase transition: a screened singlet phase, adiabatically connected to the non-interacting limit and as such a generalized Fermi liquid (GFL); and an incompletely screened, doubly degenerate local moment (LM) phase. On opening a gap (δ) in the host, the transition occurs at a critical gap δc, the GFL [LM] phase occurring for δ<δc [ δ>δc] . In agreement with numerical renormalization group (NRG) calculations, the critical δc = 0 at the particle-hole symmetric point of the model, where the LM phase arises immediately on opening the gap. In the generic case by contrast δc > 0, and the resultant LMA phase boundary is in good quantitative agreement with NRG results. Local single-particle dynamics are considered in some detail. The major difference between the two phases resides in bound states within the gap: the GFL phase is found to be characterised by one bound state only, while the LM phase contains two such states straddling the chemical potential. Particular emphasis is naturally given to the strongly correlated, Kondo regime of the model. Here, single-particle dynamics for both phases are found to exhibit universal scaling as a function of scaled frequency ω/ωm 0 for fixed gaps δ/ωm 0, where ωm 0 is the characteristic Kondo scale for the gapless (metallic) AIM; at particle-hole symmetry in particular, the scaling spectra are obtained in closed form. For frequencies |ω|/ωm 0 ≫δ/ωm 0, the scaling spectra are found generally to reduce to those of the gapless, metallic Anderson model; such that for small gaps δ/ωm 0≪ 1 in particular, the Kondo resonance that is the spectral hallmark of the usual metallic Anderson model persists more or less in its entirety in the GAIM.  相似文献

We have measured the storage instabilities of electrons in a Penning trap at low magnetic fields. These measurements are carried out as a function of the trapping voltage, for different magnetic fields. It is seen that these instabilities occur at the same positions when the trapping voltage is expressed as a percentage of the maximum voltage, given by the stability limit. The characteristic frequencies at which these instabilities occur, obey a relation that is given by n zω z + n +ω + + n -ω - = 0, where ω z, ω + and ω - are the axial, perturbed cyclotron and the magnetron frequencies of the trapped electrons respectively, and the n's are integers. The reason for these instabilities are attributed to higher order static perturbations in the trapping potential. We derive a microscopic transport theory of multiterminal hybrid structures in which a superconductor is connected to several spin-polarized electrodes. We discuss the non-perturbative physics of extended contacts, and show that such contacts can be well represented by averaging out the phase of the electronic wave function. The intercontact Andreev reflection and elastic cotunneling conductances are identical if the phase can be averaged out, namely in the presence of at least one extended contact. The maximal conductance of a two-channel contact is proportional to (e 2/h)(a 0/D)2exp[-D/ξ(ω*)], where D is the distance between the contacts, a0 the lattice spacing, ξ(ω) is the superconducting coherence length, and ω* is the cross-over frequency between a perturbative regime ( ω < ω*) and a non perturbative regime ( ω* < ω < Δ). We calculate the elastic and inelastic ωN→ωN, →πN, →ρN, →ρπN, →ππN, →σN reactions within a boson exchange approximation where the ωρπ coupling constant and form factor are fixed by the reaction πN→ωN in comparison to the experimental data. We find rather large ωN cross sections at low relative momenta of the ω-meson which leads to a substantial broadening of the ω-meson width in nuclear matter. The implications of the ωN final state interactions are studied for ω production in 12C +12C, 40Ca +40Ca and 58Ni +58Ni reactions at about 2 · A GeV within the HSD transport approach; the drastic changes of the transverse mass spectra relative to a general m T-scaling (for π0 and η mesons) might be controlled experimentally by the TAPS Collaboration. We explore the possibility to measure the elastic and inelastic ωN cross section in p+dd+ω+p sp and p+A reactions. Our studies indicate that the elastic scattering cross sections can be determined for ω momenta above 1 GeV/c in p+d reactions by gating on high proton spectator momenta whereas the ωN absorption cross section down to low relative ω momenta is most effectively studied in p+A reactions at beam energies 2.0–2.7 GeV. Bosonic properties of α particles such as single-α orbits and occupation numbers in Jπ = 0+, 2+, 1- and 3- states of 12C around the 3α threshold are investigated with the semi-microscopic 3α cluster model. As in other studies, we found that the 0+2 (2+2) state has dilute-3α-condensate-like structure in which the α particle is occupied in the single S (D) orbit with about 70% (80%) probability. The radial behaviors of the single-α orbits as well as the occupation numbers are discussed in detail in comparison with those for the 0+1 and 2+1 states together with the 1-1 and 3-1 states.  相似文献

Using a mean-field approximation, we have developed a systematic treatment of collective electronic modes in a semiconductor superlattice (SL) in the presence of strong electric and magnetic fields parallel to the SL axis. The spectrum of collective modes with zero wavevector along the SL axis is shown to consist of a principle magnetoplasmon mode and an infinite set of Bernstein-like modes. For non-zero wavevector along the SL axis, in addition to the cyclotron modes, extra collective modes are found at the frequencies |Nω c±Mω s|, which we call cyclotron-Stark modes (ω c and ω s are respectively the cyclotron and Stark frequencies, N and M are integer numbers). The frequencies of the modes propagating in “oblique” direction with respect to the SL axis show oscillatory behavior as a function of electric field strength. All the modes considered have very weak spatial dispersion and they are not Landau damped. The specific predictions made for the dispersion relations of the collective excitations should be observable in resonant Raman scattering experiments. The effect of the final state Coulomb interaction on particles produced in Pb+Pb collisions at 158 AGeV/c has been investigated in the WA98 experiment through the study of the π-+ and K-/K+ ratios measured as a function of mT-m0. While the ratio for kaons shows no significant mT dependence, the π-+ ratio is enhanced at small mT-m0 values with an enhancement that increases with centrality. A silicon pad detector located near the target is used to estimate the contribution of hyperon decays to the π-+ ratio. The comparison of results with predictions of the RQMD model in which the Coulomb interaction has been incorporated allows to place constraints on the time of the pion freeze-out.  相似文献

The two-channel Anderson lattice model which has SU (2) ⊗ SU (2) symmetry is of relevance to understanding of the magnetic, quadrupolar and superconducting phases in U1-xThxBe13 or Pr based skutterudite compounds such as PrFe4P12 or PrOs4Sb12. Possible unconventional superconducting phases of the model are explored. They are characterized by a composite order parameter comprising of a local magnetic or quadrupolar moment and a triplet conduction electron Cooper-pair. This binding of local degrees of freedom removes the entropy of the non Fermi-liquid normal state. We find superconducting transitions in the intermediate valence regime which are suppressed in the stable moment regime. The gap function is non analytic and odd in frequency: a pseudo-gap develops in the conduction electron density of states which vanishes as |ω| close to ω = 0. In the strong intermediate valent regime, the gap function acquires an additional -dependence. Received 28 February 2002 / Received in final form 18 April 2002 Published online 9 July 2002  相似文献

The isospin-violating decay f 1(1285) → π+π-π0 has been studied at the VES facility. This study is based on the statistics acquired in π- Be interactions at 27, 36.6 and 41 GeV/c in the diffractive reaction π- N → (f 1π-)N . The f 1(1285) → π+π-π0 decay is observed. The preliminary ratio of decay probabilities BR(f 1(1285) → π+π-π0) to BR(f 1(1285) → ηπ+π-). BR(η → γγ) is ∼ 2% . Original article based on material presented at HADRON 2007.  相似文献

The translationally invariant diagrammatic quantum perturbation theory (TPT) is applied to the polaron problem on the 1D lattice, modeled through the Holstein Hamiltonian with the phonon frequency ω0, the electron hopping t and the electron-phonon coupling constant g. The self-energy diagrams of the fourth-order in g are calculated exactly for an intermittently added electron, in addition to the previously known second-order term. The corresponding quadratic and quartic corrections to the polaron ground state energy become comparable at t/ω0>1 for g/ω0∼(t/ω0) 1/4 when the electron self-trapping and translation become adiabatic. The corresponding non adiabatic/adiabatic crossover occurs while the polaron width is large, i.e. the lattice coarsening negligible. This result is extended to the range (t/ω0)1/2>g/ω0>(t/ω0)1/4>1 by considering the scaling properties of the high-order self-energy diagrams. It is shown that the polaron ground state energy, its width and the effective mass agree with the results found traditionally from the broken symmetry side, kinematic corrections included. The Landau self-trapping of the electron in the classic self-consistent, localized displacement potential, the restoration of the translational symmetry by the classic translational Goldstone mode and the quantization of the polaronic translational coordinate are thus all encompassed by a quantum theory which is translationally invariant from the outset. This represents the first example, open to various generalizations, of the capability of TPT to hold through the adiabatic symmetry breaking crossover. Plausible arguments are also given that TPT can describe the g/ω0>(t/ω0)1/2 regime of the small polaron with adiabatic or non-adiabatic translation, i.e., that TPT can cover the whole g/ω0, t/ω0 parameter space of the Holstein Hamiltonian.  相似文献

Isospin-violating mixing of ρ- and ω-mesons is reconsidered in terms of propagators. Its influence on various pairs of (ρ,ω)-decays to the same final states is demonstrated. Some of them, (ρ,ω)↦π+π- and (ρ,ω)↦πγ, have been earlier discussed in the literature, others (e.g., (ρ,ω)↦ηγ and (ρ,ω)↦e + e -) are new in this context. Changes in partial widths for all the decay pairs are shown to be correlated. The set of present experimental data, though yet inconclusive, provides some limits for the direct (ρω)-coupling and indirectly supports enhancement of ρ↦πγ in comparison with ρ±↦π±γ, though not so large as in some previous estimates. With accumulation of high statistics data at BES and CLEO-c, many new interesting channels can get enough statistics for partial-wave analysis (PWA). Among them, ψ↦γpˉ,γΛˉ,γΣˉ,γΞˉ channels provide a good place for studying baryon-antibaryon interactions; the double radiative decays ψ↦γγV with V ≡ ρ,ω,φ have a potential to provide information on the flavor content of any meson resonances (R) with positive charge parity (C = +) and mass above 1 GeV through ψ↦γR↦γγV; ψ(2s)↦γχc0,1,2 with χc0,1,2Kˉπ+π- and 2π+- decays are good processes to study χcJ charmonium decays. Using the covariant tensor formalism, here we provide theoretical PWA formulae for these channels.  相似文献

The weighted total cross-section (WTCS) theory is used to calculate electron impact excitation, ionisation and dissociation cross-sections and rate coefficients of OH, H2, OH+, H2 +, OH- and H2 - diatomic molecules in the temperature range 1500–15000 K. Calculations are performed for H2(X, B, C), OH(X, A, B), H2 +(X), OH+(X, a, A, b, c), H2 -(X) and OH-(X) electronic states for which Dunham coefficients are available. Rate coefficients are calculated from WTCS assuming Maxwellian energy distribution functions for electrons and heavy particles. One and two temperature (θe and θg respectively for electron and heavy particles kinetic temperatures) results are presented and fitting parameters (a, b and c) are given for each reaction rate coefficient: k(θ) = a (θb)exp (-c/θ).  相似文献

We derive expressions for the effective nonlinear susceptibility tensors for both the second harmonic generation (SHG) and induced third harmonic generation (THG) of nonlinear composite materials, in which nondilute coated particles with radial dielectric anisotropy are randomly embedded in the linear host. Two types of coated particles are considered. The first is that the core possesses a second order nonlinear susceptibility and the shell is linear and radially anisotropic, while the second is that the core is linear with radial anisotropy and the shell has a second order nonlinear susceptibility. We observe greatly enhanced SHG and THG susceptibilities at several surface plasmon resonant frequencies. For the second model, due to the coating material being metallic, there exists two fundamental resonant frequencies ωc1 and ωc2, whose difference ωc2c1 is strongly dependent on the interfacial parameter and the radial dielectric anisotropy. Furthermore, in both systems, the adjustment of the dielectric anisotropy results in larger enhancement of both SHG and induced THG susceptibilities at surface plasmon resonant frequencies than the corresponding isotropic systems. Therefore, both the core-shell structure and the dielectric anisotropy play important roles in determining the nonlinear enhancement and the surface resonant frequencies.  相似文献

The isoscalar-isovector (ρ-ω) interferences in the exclusive reactions π- pne + e - and π+ npe + e - near the ω threshold leads to a distinct difference of the dielectron invariant-mass distributions depending on beam energy. The strength of this effect is determined by the coupling of resonances to the nucleon vector-meson channels and other resonance properties. Therefore, a combined analysis of these reactions can be used as a tool for determining the baryon resonance dynamics. Received: 14 August 2001 / Accepted: 3 October 2001  相似文献

Light emission during sputtering of graphite targets with 1–10 keV Ne+, Kr+ and Xe+ beams has been investigated in the 180-600 nm wavelength range. Beside the characteristic lines of sputtered C1 and C1 +, a continuum superimposed with a number of broad structures was observed in the 250-520 nm range, and having a maximum at 386 nm. Mass analysis of the sputtered flux confirmed the presence of negative carbon clusters C m - , C2 - being the dominant one. Ion beam parameters i.e. ion mass, energy, current density and ion dose were varied to identify the origin of the continuum emission. On the basis of the experimental results, it is suggested that the continuum is predominantly due to the overlapping of various band systems of sputtered C2 with a small contribution from the heavier sputtered carbon clusters Cm (m>2). Using 160GeV muon scattering data collected with the COMPASS experiment at CERN, the exclusive production of ωπ0 via virtual photons was studied. Selective population of a peak around 1250MeV is observed. Possible contributions from spin-parity 1- are searched for, inspecting decay angular correlations. In particular, the orientation of the ω decay plane may allow a distinction from the 1+ b 1(1235) state. Our observation is compared with indications of a (1250) in annihilation and in γp .
