A excellent sensitive and selective method for spectrophotometric determination of trace gold has been developed, the method is based on the color reaction of gold(III) with new reagent 5-(2-hydroxy-5-nitrophenylazo)rhodanine (HNAR). Under optimal conditions, HNAR reacts with gold(III) to form a 1:5 orange complex, which has an maximum absorption peak at 480 nm. Maximum enhancement of the absorbance of the complex was obtained in the presence of the mixed surfactant of Triton X-100 and CTMAB; the reaction completed rapidly and the absorbance is stable for 5 h at least at 20 degrees C; 0-48 microg L(-1) Au(III) obeyed Beer's law. The apparent molar absorptivity of the complex, Sandell's sensitivity, the limit of quantification, the limit of detection and relative standard deviation were found to be 2.0x10(6) L mol(-1) cm(-1), 0.000,098,483 micro g cm(-2), 1.02 ng mL(-1), 0.35 ng mL(-1) and 1.09%, respectively. The effect of co-existing ions was studied seriously; most metal ions can be tolerated in considerable amounts. Its sensitivity and selectivity are remarkably superior to other reagents in the literature. The proposed method was used successfully to determine trace gold in geological samples. Moreover, the synthesis, characteristics and analytical reaction of HNAR with gold are also described in detail.  相似文献

A new chromogenic reagent, 2-(2-quinolylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol (QADEAP), was synthesized. A sensitive, selective and rapid method has been developed for the determination of microg/L level silver ion based on the rapid reaction of silver(l) with QADEAP and the solid phase extraction of the colored chelate with C18 cartridge. The QADEAP reacts with Ag(l) to form a violet chelate of a molar ratio 1:2 (silver to QADEAP) in pH 3.5-8.0. This chelate was prconcentrated by solid phase extraction with C18 cartridge. An enrichment factor of 100 was achieved. The molar absorptivity of the chelate is 1.30 x 10(5) L mol(-1) cm(-1) at 590 nm in measured solution. Beer's law is obeyed in the range of 0.01-0.6 microg/ml. The relative standard deviation for eleven replicate samples of 0.01 microg/ml is 1.15%. The detection limit is 0.02 microg/L in the original samples. This method was applied to the determination of microg/L level silver ion in water with good results.  相似文献

A new derivative spectrophotometric method for rapid and selective trace analysis of Ga3+ and In3+ and for their simultaneous determination using 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol in a cationic micellar medium is reported. Molar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity of 1:1 Ga+ and In3+ complexes at their lambda(max) 553 nm and 558 nm are: 7.22 x 10(4) l mol(-1) cm(-1) and 5.85 x 10(4) l mol(-1) cm(-1), and 0.96 ng cm(-2) and 1.96 ng cm(-2), respectively. Linearity is observed in the concentration range 0.023-0.700 microg ml(-1) for gallium and 0.076-1.52 microg ml(-1) for indium; IUPAC detection limit is 0.012 and 0.035 ng ml(-1), respectively. These metal ions interfere with the determination of each other. However, 0.07-0.70 microg ml(-1) Ga3+ and 0.115-1.150 microg ml(-1) In3+ could be determined simultaneously when present together by the derivative method without any prior separation. The proposed procedures have been successfully applied for the individual and simultaneous determination of gallium and indium in synthetic binary mixtures, standard reference materials and environmental samples.  相似文献

A selective and sensitive derivative photometric method has been developed for the determination of trace amounts of Zn2+ with 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol in the presence of cetylpyridinium chloride, a cationic surfactant. The molar-absorption coefficient and analytical sensitivity of the 1:2 complex at 554 nm are 1.19 x 10(5) L mol(-1) cm(-1) and 0.56 ng mL(-1), respectively. The detection limit is 1.96 x 10(-2) ng mL(-1) and Beer's law is valid in the 0.02-0.66 microg mL(-1) range of Zn2+. The developed derivative procedure, using the zero-crossing measurement approach, is applied for the rapid and selective simultaneous determination of Zn2+ and Cd2+ in the range of 0.06-0.66 and 0.20-1.60 microg mL(-1), respectively. Complex matrices, including reference materials, environmental and biological samples and synthetic mixtures, have been successfully analyzed for trace amounts of the two metal ions.  相似文献

6-Chloro-3-hydroxy-2-(5'-methylfuryl)-4H-chromene-4-one (CHMFC) has been used as an analytical reagent for the spectrophotometric determination of molybdenum. Molybdenum(VI) in the presence of several cations, anions and complexing agents forms a yellow 1:2 complex with CHMFC. The complex is quantitatively extractable into 1,2-dichloroethane from 1 mol dm(-3) acetic acid medium and is stable for more than 6 h. The complex shows an absorption maximum at 438 nm with a molar absorptivity of 5.36 x 10(4) dm3 mol(-1) cm(-1) and Sandell's sensitivity equal to 0.0017 microg Mo cm(-2). The method obeys Beer's law up to 1.9 microg Mo ml(-1). The relative standard deviations are 0.2% for solutions and 0.5-1.5% for solid samples. The method is simple, selective, precise and rapid, and has been satisfactorily applied to the micro determination of molybdenum in various synthetic and standard samples.  相似文献

Tervalent gold was determined spectrophotometrically as its anionic 1:4 gold-thiol complex extracted into chloroform from aqueous acidic medium (1.5M sulphuric acid) in the presence of tri-iso-octylamine. The complex exhibits maximum absorption at 480 nm (molar absorptivity 4.60 x 10(3) l.mole(-1).cm(-1)) and Beer's law is obeyed in the concentration range 5-50 microg of gold(III) per ml. The relative standard deviation and relative error, calculated from ten determinations of solutions containing 15 microg of gold(III) per ml were 1.0% and 0.8%. The method is simple, selective and reproducible. It permits separation of gold(III) from associated elements and its determination in synthetic mixtures.  相似文献

A new method for direct spectrophotometric determination of cadmium with 4-(2-pyridylazo)-resorcinol is reported. Absorption maximum, molar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity of the 1:1 (M:L) complex are 510 nm, 2.5 x 10(5) l mol(-1) cm(-1) and 3.55 ng cm(-2), respectively. A linear calibration graph is obtained up to 4.49 microg ml(-1). The zero-crossing measurement technique is found suitable for the direct measurement of the first-derivative value at the specified wavelengths. Cadmium(II) (0.42-9.2 microg ml(-1)) and mercury(II) (0.35-7.4 microg ml(-1)) in different ratios have been determined simultaneously. A critical evaluation of the proposed method is performed by statistical analysis of the experimental data. The developed method was applied to the simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of Cd and Hg in some synthetic mixtures and was found to give satisfactory results.  相似文献

A spectrophotometric procedure is suggested for the determination of Cr(III). The reaction between Cr(III) and 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-dimethylaminophenol is accelerated by sodium dodecyl sulphate(SDS), sodium benzoate causes a further increase in the absorbance of the chelate. The optimum pH range for the reaction is 5-5.8(benzoate buffer). The chelate exhibits maximum absorbance at 590 nm, obeys Beer's law over the concentration range 0.02-0.56 microg/ml of Cr(III), has molar absorptivity of 7.8 x 10(4) 1. mol(-1) cm(-1) and a Sandell sensitivity of 0.66 ng/cm. The metal to ligand ratio is 1:2 in the absence of SDS and 1:1 in its presence. A procedure for the determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI), when present together, is described. The method has been applied to the analysis of Cr(III) in tap water.  相似文献

A new chromogenic reagent, 5-(2-hydroxy-5-nitrophenylazo)thiorhodanine (HNATR) was synthesized. A highly sensitive, selective and rapid method for the determination microg l(-1) level of Au(III) based on the rapid reaction of Au(III) with HNATR and the solid phase extraction of the colored complex with a reversed phase polymer-based C(18) cartridge have been developed. The HNATR reacted with Au(III) to form a red complex of a molar ratio 1:2 (Au(III) to HNATR) in the presence of 0.05 - 0.5 mol l(-1) of phosphoric acid solution and emulsifier-OP medium. This complex was enriched by the solid phase extraction with a polymer-based C(18) cartridge. The enrichment factor of 100 was achieved. The molar absorptivity of the complex is 1.37 x 10(5) l mol(-1) cm(-1) at 520 nm in the measured solution. The system obeys Beer's law in the range of 0.01 - 3 microg ml(-1). The relative standard deviation for eleven replicates sample of 0.5 microg l(-1) level is 2.18%. The detection limit, based on the three times of standard deviation is 0.02 microg l(-1) in the original sample. This method was applied to the determination of gold in water and ore with good results.  相似文献

The solution properties of nickel complex with 4-(2'-benzo-thiazolylazo) salicylic acid (BTAS) have been studied by zero-order absorption spectrophotometry in 40% (v/v) ethanol at 20 degrees C and an ionic strength of 0.1 mol dm(-3) (KNO(3)). The equilibria that exist in solution were established and the basic characteristics of complexes formed were determined. A new direct spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amounts of the nickel is proposed based on the formation of the Ni (BTAS) complex at pH 7.0. The absorption maximum, molar absorbtivity, and Sandell's sensitivity of 1:1 (M:L) complex are 525 nm, 0.6 x 10(4) l mol(-1) cm(-1) and 2.824 x 10(-9) microg cm(-2), respectively. The use of first-derivative spectrophotometry eliminates the interference of iron and enables the simultaneous determination of nickel and iron using BTAS. Quantitative determination of Ni(II) and Fe(III) is possible in the range (0.59-7.08) and (2.1-8.4) microg ml(-1), respectively with a relative standard deviation of 0.5%. The proposed method has been successfully applied to the simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of nickel and iron in steel alloys and aluminum alloys.  相似文献

A new pyridylazo reagent, 5-(5-nitro-2-pyridylazo)-2,4-diaminotoluene (5-NO(2)-PADAT) has been synthesized, and found to be a good chromogenic reagent for palladium. In sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid and perchloric acid palladium reacts with 5-NO(2)-PADAT to form a 1:1 chelate, exhibiting an absorption maximum at 592 nm. The apparent molar absorptivity is 1.25 x 10(5) l(-1) mol(-1) cm(-1). Beer's law was obeyed in the range 0-0.9 microg ml(-1) Pd. Relatively large amounts of co-existing elements, including all other noble metals, can be tolerated. The method is based on the formation of a ternary complex by the reaction of beryllium with haematoxylin in the presence of micellar medium (cationic surfactant, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide). The ternary complex of beryllium has a maximum absorbance at 592 nm and showed an excellent sensitivity (molar absorption coefficient of 7.07 x 10(4)L mol(-1)cm(-1) and the Sandell's sensitivity being 1.27 x 10(-4) microg cm(-2)) and reproducibility (within-day precision: R.S.D.相似文献

A sensitive and highly selective aqueous as well as extractive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of titanium(IV) using 2,3-dihydroxynaphthalene (H(2)ND) as a chromogenic agent. The reagent (H(2)ND) forms a 1:3 (TiOH(3+):ligand) complex at pH 4-9. The molar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity are 3.2 x 10(4) l . mol(-1)mol . cm(-1) and 0.001 microg/cm(2), respectively at lambda(max) 375 nm. The method has been found highly selective for Ti(IV) determination in rock samples. Solvent extraction of Ti(IV) in ethylacetate greatly improves the detection limit of the method. The method has been successfully applied to diverse silicate rock samples and results obtained are favourably comparable with those obtained from the tiron method. The reagent (H(2)ND) used in the present investigation is a much better variant than tiron for titanium(IV) determination in silicate rock samples in terms of sensitivity, selectivity, operational simplicity and economy.  相似文献

A selective and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of Th(IV) has been based on the reaction with thorin and subsequent extraction of the red-orange coloured complex with N-hydroxy-N,N'-diphenylbenzamidine (HDPBA) in benzene as floated complex at pH 2.2. The complex in ethanol exhibits a maximum absorbance at 495 nm, with a molar absorptivity of 6.0x10(4) l mol(-1) cm(-1), with a Sandell's sensitivity of 3.9x10(-3) microg cm(-2). The method follows Beer's law up to 3.0 microg Th(IV) ml(-1). None of the common cations and anions tested interfere. The detection limit of the method is 0.04 microg Th(IV) ml(-1), the RSD (n=10) is 1.4%. The method has been successfully employed for the determination of thorium in various standard and monazite samples.  相似文献

A simple, rapid, and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of selenium in real samples of water, soil, plant materials, human hair, and synthetic cosmetic and in pharmaceutical preparations. The method is based on the reaction of selenium with potassium iodide in an acidic medium to liberate iodine. The liberated iodine bleaches the violet color of thionin, and which is measured at 600 nm. This decrease in absorbance is directly proportional to selenium concentration and obeys Beer's law in the range 1-5 micro g selenium in a final volume of 10 mL (0.1-0.5 microg mL(-1)). The molar absorptivity and Sandell's sensitivity of the method were found to be 7.33 x 10(4) L mol(-1) cm(-1) and 0.0011 microg cm(-2), respectively. The optimum reaction conditions and other analytical conditions were evaluated. The effect of interfering ions on the determination is described.  相似文献
