We report the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies of MgTi2O4 in the 300–140 K range. Above the transition temperature T t (~258 K), the EPR results indicate that MgTi2O4 is paramagnetic. The parameters of the EPR spectra show an anomalous change at T t. The clear EPR lines can be observed in temperature between T t and 220 K. Besides that the EPR intensity, g value, and EPR linewidth increase with decreasing temperature; in temperature range below 220 K, no clear EPR line can be detected. The EPR spectra results demonstrate that magnetic spin-singlet state and the orbital density wave of MgTi2O4 system are formed gradually with decreasing temperature at low temperature range.  相似文献

A Cu2+-doped single crystal of catena-trans-bis(N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-ethylenediamine) zinc(II)-tetra-m-cyanopaladate(II) [ZnPd(CN)4(C4H12N2O2)] complex has been investigated by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) technique at room temperature. EPR spectra indicate that Cu2+ ions substitute for magnetically equivalent Zn2+ ions and form octahedral complexes in [ZnPd(CN)4(C4H12N2O2)] hosts. The crystal field affecting the Cu2+ ion is nearly axial. The optical absorption studies show two bands at 322 nm (30864 cm−1) and 634 nm (15337 cm−1) which confirm the axial symmetry. The spin Hamiltonian parameters and the relevant wave function are determined.  相似文献

We performed multifrequency electron spin resonance (ESR) on the antiferromagnetic (TN = 160 K) and charge-ordered (T co = 250 K) insulating manganite Nd0.5Ca0.5MnO3. Temperature (4–300 K) and frequency (9.4–285 GHz) dependence of the linewidth, intensity and position of the ESR line were studied. In the paramagnetic state we observe a single Lorentzian absorption line. For a given frequency, the ESR line position is temperature independent (close tog = 1.99). A strong linewidth broadening is observed below Tco. This indicates that there is no magnetic order in the temperature rangeT cos>T >T N but strong antiferromagnetic fluctuations are present. Below TN, due to high-frequency and high-field ESR (up to 12 T) measurements, we were able to observe unexpected lines within the antiferromagnetic gap revealing the presence of a phase separation.  相似文献

The results of the measurements of the 6, 7Li and 23Na nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) and 63, 65Cu nuclear quadrupole resonance in LiCu2O2 and NaCu2O2 quasi-one-dimensional compounds with a spin chains in the paramagnetic and magnetically ordered states are presented. The shape of the NMR line below T c = 24 and 13 K for LiCu2O2 and NaCu2O2, respectively, is characteristic of the incommensurate static modulation of the local magnetic field matching with the incommensurate spiral modulation of the magnetic moments. The differences in the shape of the NMR spectra of 23Na and 7Li are discussed in terms of the features of the crystal structure of LiCu2O2 and NaCu2O2.  相似文献

It was pointed out in some works that asymmetry of an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) line is generally caused by both the electrical conduction and the nondiagonal elements of the dynamic susceptibility of a magnetic subsystem. Direct measurements of the temperature dependences of the conductivity and the EPR line shape in a La0.70Ca0.25Ba0.05MnO3 sample showed that the conduction makes the predominant contribution to the EPR line asymmetry.  相似文献

The EPR spectrum of a KDy(WO4)2 monoclinic crystal is investigated. It is found that the EPR spectrum of magnetically concentrated materials at a low frequency (9.2 GHz) undergoes a substantial transformation in addition to the well-known broadening of the EPR lines. At low Dy3+ concentrations (x<10?2), the EPR spectrum of an isomorphic crystal, namely, KY(1?x)Dyx(WO4)2, is characterized by the parameters gx=0, gy=1.54, and gz=14.6. For a magnetically concentrated crystal KDy(WO4)2, the g values are as follows: gx=0, gy=0.82, and gz=2.52. It is demonstrated that the difference in the parameters is associated with the specific spin-spin interaction between Dy3+ ions, including the Dzyaloshinski interaction, which is not observed at high frequencies.  相似文献

This paper reports on the results of measurements of the magnetic susceptibility, heat capacity, neutron scattering, muon spin relaxation, and electron paramagnetic resonance in Cu3B2O6 for the study of the ground state of the spin system of this compound. The results obtained suggest that, at a temperature of 10 K, the spin subsystem of the crystal, which consists of single spins and clusters of pairs and fours of spins interacting with one another, undergoes a transition to a state representing a superposition of the singlet (for clusters) and magnetically ordered (for single spins) states.  相似文献

A pronounced Curie-like upturn of the magnetic susceptibility χ( T ) of the quasi one-dimensional spin chain compound Ba2V3O9 has been found recently [#!kaul:02!#]. Frequently this is taken as a signature for a staggered field mechanism due to the presence of g-factor anisotropy and Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. We calculate this contribution within a realistic structure of vanadium 3 d- and oxygen 2 p-orbitals and conclude that this mechanism is far too small to explain experimental results. We propose that the Curie term is rather due to a segmentation of spin chains caused by broken magnetic bonds which leads to uncompensated S = ? spins of segments with odd numbers of spins. Using the finite-temperature Lanczos method we calculate their effective moment and show that ∼ 1% of broken magnetic bonds is sufficient to reproduce the anomalous low-T behavior of χ( T ) in Ba2V3O9. Magnetic and electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) properties of EuFe3(BO3)4 single crystals have been studied over the temperature range of 300–4.2 K and in a magnetic field up to 5 T. The temperature, field and orientation dependences of susceptibility, magnetization and EPR spectra are presented. An antiferromagnetic ordering of the Fe subsystem occurs at about 37 K. The easy direction of magnetization perpendicular to the c axis is determined by magnetic measurements. Below 10 K, we observe an increase of susceptibility connected with the polarization of the Eu sublattice by an effective exchange field of the ordered Fe magnetic subsystem. In a magnetic field perpendicular to the c axis, we have observed an increase of magnetization at T < 10 K in the applied magnetic field, which can be attributed to the appearance of the magnetic moment induced by the magnetic field applied in the basal plane. According to EPR measurements, the distance between the maximum and minimum of derivative of absorption line of the Lorentz type is equal to 319 Gs. The anisotropy of g-factor and linewidth is due to the influence of crystalline field of trigonal symmetry. The peculiarities of temperature dependence of both intensity and linewidth are caused by the influence of excited states of europium ion (Eu3+). It is supposed that the difference between the g-factors from EPR and the magnetic measurements is caused by exchange interaction between rare earth and Fe subsystems via anomalous Zeeman effect.  相似文献

Anisotropy in the magnetic properties of YbNiAl2 intermetallide has been studied. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) signals assigned to the localized magnetic moments of trivalent ytterbium have been detected at temperatures below 20 K. Spin–lattice relaxation processes like the Orbach–Aminov process with participation of the first excited Stark sublevel of the Yb3+ ion with an energy of 96 K govern electron–spin dynamics and the disappearance of spectrum lines with a further increase in temperature. Strong magnetic anisotropy effects are discussed as a main reason for the appearance of electron paramagnetic resonance.  相似文献

Vortex excitations have been detected at temperatures both below and above the critical temperature when investigating local magnetic fields on the surface of a Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10 single crystal by means of an electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) probe. A thin layer of a diphenyl picrylhydrazyl organic radical deposited on the crystal surface is used as the EPR probe. A narrow EPR signal makes it possible to detect weak distortions of the magnetic field appearing at TT c. The analysis of the temperature dependences of the resonance field and the EPR linewidth is thebasis of the assumption of the vortex nature of magnetic excitations in this temperature range.  相似文献

The magnetic properties of the magnetite Fe3O4(110) surface have been studied by spin resolved Auger electron spectroscopy (SRAES). Experimental spin resolved Auger spectra are presented. The results of calculation of Auger lines polarization carried out on the basis of electronic state density are presented. Problems related to magnetic moments of bivalent (Fe2+) and trivalent (Fe3+) ions on the Fe3O4(110) surface are discussed. It is established that the deposition of a thin bismuth film on the surface results in significant growth of polarization of iron Auger peaks, which is due to additional spin-orbit scattering of electrons by bismuth atoms.  相似文献

Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) studies on a single crystal of diamagnetic compound La2Si2O7, potentially a phosphorescent/luminescent/laser material, with the Gd3+ ion substituting for the La3+ ion, were carried out at X-band (9.61 GHz) over the 4–295 K temperature range. The asymmetry exhibited by the Gd3+ EPR line positions for the orientations of the external magnetic field about the magnetic Z- and Y-axes in the ZY-plane was ascribed to the existence of monoclinic site symmetry at the site of the Gd3+ ion, as confirmed by the significant values of the spin Hamiltonian parameters g YZ , b 2 −1, b 4 m (m = 1, 3), b 6 m (m = 1, 3, 5), estimated by fitting all EPR line positions observed at room temperature for the orientation of the magnetic field in the magnetic ZX- and ZY-planes using a rigorous least-squares fitting procedure. At 8 K measurements were only carried out for orientation of B in the magnetic ZX-plane, due to difficulty in orientation of the crystal inside the cryostat, enabling estimation of all spin Hamiltonian parameters b n m except those characterized by negative m values and g YZ . The absolute sign of the zero-field splitting parameter b 2 0 was determined to be negative from the relative intensities of the lines at 8 K. Authors' address: Sushil K. Comprehensive NMR investigation of low-frequency spin dynamics of LiCu2O2 (LCO) and NaCu2O2 (NCO) low-dimensional helical magnets in the paramagnetic state has been carried out for the first time. Temperature dependences of the spin–lattice relaxation rate and anisotropy on various LCO/NCO nuclei have been determined at various orientations of single crystals in an external magnetic field. The spatial asymmetry of spin fluctuations in LCO multiferroic has been discovered. The quantitative analysis of the anisotropy of spin–lattice relaxation in LCO/NCO has allowed estimating the contributions of individual neighboring Cu2+ ions to the transferred hyperfine field on Li+(Na+) ions.  相似文献

Complex studies of the magnetic, magnetoelectric, and magnetoelastic properties of GdMn2O5 single crystals in strong pulsed magnetic fields are carried out in order to obtain additional indirect information on the character of the rare-earth and manganese spin ordering. It is shown that magnetic ordering of Gd3+ spins affects the manganese sublattice spin orientation and initiates new magnetic phase transitions. The observed magnetoelectric properties of the GdMn2O5 system are interpreted in terms of the theory of phase transitions.  相似文献

The magnetically ordered phase of the CuCrO2 single crystal has been studied by the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) method on 53Cr nuclei in the absence of an external magnetic field. The 53Cr NMR spectrum is observed in the frequency range νres = 61–66 MHz. The shape of the spectrum depends on the delay tdel between pulses in the pulse sequence τπ/2t del–τπt del–echo. The spin–spin and spin–lattice relaxation times have been measured. Components of the electric field gradient, hyperfine fields, and the magnetic moment on chromium atoms have been estimated.  相似文献

We have studied the magnetodielectric response of Y2Cu2O5, the so-called blue phase in the Y2O3-CuO-BaO phase diagram. Based on symmetry principles, we predict and demonstrate magneto-dielectric coupling on a single crystal sample. We report an anomaly in the dielectric constant at the ordering temperature of the Cu spins. We probe the magnetic field-induced phase transitions between four different magnetic phases using magneto-capacitance measurements, demonstrating relatively strong magnetodielectric coupling. We observe an increase in dielectric constant in the spin-flip phase where there exists spontaneous magnetization. We construct a detailed magnetic phase diagram. The magnetodielectric coupling is analyzed in terms of striction induced by symmetric superexchange and optical phonon frequency shifts.  相似文献

High-frequency electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of the KPb2Cl5:Tb3+ crystal have been investigated. Three types of spectra were observed in the frequency range of 74–200 GHz. The most intensive spectrum with the resolved hyperfine structure corresponded to transitions between sublevels of the159Tb3+ ground quasi-doublet with the zero-field splitting (ZFS) close to 48 GHz. Experimental results were analyzed by the exchange charge model of the crystal field affecting terbium ions in low-symmetry Pb2+ positions with the chlorine sevenfold coordination and the charge compensating vacancy in the nearest potassium site. The calculated values ofg-factors and ZFS were in agreement with the experimental data. The nature of a broad EPR line with ZFS of about 180 GHz and of additional weak EPR lines observed as satellites of the main Tb3+ lines was discussed.  相似文献

The temperature dependence of electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of a series of dithiocarbamates Fe(RR′dtc)3 was studied in the temperature range from 5 to 300 K. A small part of solvated complexes serving as spin probes in the EPR-silent matrix enabled the observation of EPR of the Fe(III) ion in the whole temperature range. The spin transition was revealed in the reduction of the integral intensity of the signal from the high-spin complexes and in the non-monotonous change of the line width with temperature decrease due to the effect of the low-spin complexes with short spin–lattice relaxation times. Below ca. 60 K, the ferromagnetic ordering of the magnetic moments in low-spin particles (“domains”) arising at the spin transition was observed.  相似文献
