Recovery of the magnetic dipolar interaction between nuclei bearing the same gyromagnetic ratio in rotating solids can be promoted by synchronous rf irradiation. Determination of the dipolar interaction strength can serve as a tool for structural elucidation in polycrystalline powders. Spinning frequency dependent narrow-band (nb) RFDR and SEDRA experiments are utilized as simple techniques for the determination of dipolar interactions between the nuclei in coupled homonuclear spin pairs. The magnetization exchange and coherence dephasing due to a fixed number of rotor-synchronously applied pi-pulses is monitored at spinning frequencies in the vicinity of the rotational resonance (R(2)) conditions. The powder nbRFDR and nbSEDRA decay curves of spin magnetizations and coherences, respectively, as a function of the spinning frequency can be measured and analyzed using simple rate equations providing a quantitative measure of the dipolar coupling. The effects of the phenomenological relaxation parameters in these rate equations are discussed and an improved methodology is suggested for analyzing nbRFDR data for small dipolar couplings. The distance between the labeled nuclei in the 1,3-(13)C(2)-hydroxybutyric acid molecule is rederived using existing nbRFDR results and the new simulation procedure. A nbSEDRA experiment has been performed successfully on a powder sample of singly labeled 1-(13)C-L-leucine measuring the dipolar interaction between the labeled carboxyl carbon and the natural abundant beta-carbon. Both narrowband techniques are employed for the determination of the nuclear distances between the side-chain carbons of leucine and its carbonyl carbon in a tripeptide Leu-Gly-Phe that is singly (13)C-labeled at the leucine carbonyl carbon position.  相似文献

Using average Hamiltonian (AH) theory, we analyze recently introduced homonuclear dipolar recoupling pulse sequences for exciting central-transition double-quantum coherences (2QC) between half-integer spin quadrupolar nuclei undergoing magic-angle-spinning. Several previously observed differences among the recoupling schemes concerning their compensation to resonance offsets and radio-frequency (rf) inhomogeneity may qualitatively be rationalized by an AH analysis up to third perturbation order, despite its omission of first-order quadrupolar interactions. General aspects of the engineering of 2Q-recoupling pulse sequences applicable to half-integer spins are discussed, emphasizing the improvements offered from a diversity of supercycles providing enhanced suppression of undesirable AH cross-terms between resonance offsets and rf amplitude errors.  相似文献

The application of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) to systems of limited quantity has stimulated the use of micro-coils (diameter <1 mm). One method recently proposed for the union of micro-coils with Magic Angle sample Spinning (MAS), involves the integration of a tuned micro-coil circuit within standard MAS rotors inductively coupled to the MAS probe coil, termed “magic-angle coil spinning” (MACS). The spinning of conductive materials results in the creation of circulating Foucault (eddy) currents, which generate heat. We report the first data acquired with a 4 mm MACS system and spinning up to 10 kHz. The need to spin faster necessitates improved methods to control heating. We propose an approximate solution to calculate the power losses (heat) from the eddy currents for a solenoidal coil, in order to provide insight into the functional dependencies of Foucault currents. Experimental tests of the dependencies reveal conditions which result in reduced sample heating and negligible temperature distributions over the sample volume.  相似文献

Recoupling of homonuclear double quantum (DQ)-dipolar interactions is a useful technique for the structural analysis of molecules in solids. We have designed a series of elemental 0 degrees pulses for the recoupling sequences with the rf phase rotation about the z-axis, known as CN. The proposed 0 degrees pulses whose total flip angle >/=360 degrees provide spin rotation vectors in the xy-plane. Thus, the residual spin rotation can be canceled by rf phase rotation about the z-axis. An analysis by the coherent averaging theory showed that effective bandwidths of the recoupling sequences are limited not by the reduction in the dipolar scaling factor but by the increase in the residual spin rotation due to offset. A CN sequence with these elemental pulses provides an effective bandwidth of DQ-dipolar recoupling from ca. 0.5nu(R) to 4nu(R) for numerical simulations. Here, nu(R) is the sample spinning frequency. The 0 degrees pulses were applied to band-selective recoupling for the magnetization transfer in uniformly 13C-labeled molecules. Narrow-band recoupling enhances the magnetization transfer between spins within the effective range by decoupling the dipolar interactions between spins one of which is outside the range. The narrow band operation reduces rf field strength, which improves the CH decoupling. Increases in signal intensities by the use of the proposed 0 degrees pulses are experimentally shown for 13C-labeled amino acids.  相似文献

Fibre Bragg gratings (FBGs) are an integral component of optical fibre based communication systems for signal processing. Uniform FBGs and phase-shifted FBGs find major applications as add-drop filters in dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) systems where these are used to filter out channels and to shape the signal spectrum. We investigate numerically the spatiotemporal deformation of pulses as they propagate through the gratings. In particular, the effect on the pulse dynamics of phase shift or defect present in the gratings, often introduced intentionally in a grating to generate a narrow transmission spike within the stopband, is studied in time domain. This study is of significance since the deformation in the pulse in time limits the maximum bit rate achievable, and hence the pulse duration and shape need to be analysed and controlled accurately. A time domain numerical tool based on the Transmission Line Modelling (TLM) method is developed to study the pulse dynamics. The results obtained give useful information about the signal dynamics in gratings with defects, including the signal oscillations trapped in the defect, to be considered in applications such as while designing spectral filters.  相似文献

A novel experiment is proposed to provide inter-residue sequential correlations among carbonyl spins in (13)C detected, protonless NMR experiments. The COCO-TOCSY experiment connects, in proteins, two carbonyls separated from each other by three, four or even five bonds. The quantitative analysis provides structural information on backbone dihedral angles phi as well as on the side chain dihedral angles of Asx and Glx residues. This is the first dihedral angle constraint that can be obtained via a protonless approach. About 75% of backbone carbonyls in Calbindin D(9K), a 75 amino acid dicalcium protein, could be sequentially connected via a COCO-TOCSY spectrum. 49 [Formula: see text] values were measured and related to backbone phi angles. Structural information can be extended to the side chain orientation of aminoacids containing carbonyl groups. Additionally, long range homonuclear coupling constants, (4)J(CC) and (5)J(CC), could be measured. This constitutes an unprecedented case for proteins of medium and small size.  相似文献
