Contribution à l'étude des ondes gravito-capillaires forcées d'amplitude finie

Résumé Dans ce travail, on expose une méthode de perturbation régulière permettant de calculer une solution au 3° ordre des équations de propagation des ondes gravito-capillaires forcées induites à la surface libre d'un liquide. La solution est présentée sous forme d'une série entière par rapport à un petit paramètre, dont les coefficients sont développés à leur tour en séries de fonctions propres. Une étude sommaire de quelques cas limites permet aussi d'éxaminer l'évolution de la zône d'établissement du régime d'ondes en fonction de certains paramètres fondamentaux.

Summary In this paper, a regular perturbation method is proposed to calculate a third order solution, for equations governing the forced propagation of gravity-capillary waves in a perfect fluid. The solution is presented as a series in a small parameter, for which the coefficients are also developed in series of eigenfunctions. The study of some limiting cases gives also an approximation of the wave's structure near the wave-maker.

Summary The well-known Moreau-Yosida approximation is inoperative for nonconvex functionals without an a priori inequality of quadratic type. We point out an inf-convolution approximation (generally locally lipschitz) by a convex function (called « referential ») connected to the «infinite negative growth» of the approximated function. This method is easily extended to problems of - convergence: epi- convergence, epi-hypo-convergence ... Several applications are given to the case of integral functionals and to conditional expectations of integrands.

We show thatL ₁ (G) is semi-simple and give a characterization of the closed ideals ofL ₁ (G). Using the -spherical Fourier transform, we characterize all linear bounded operators inL ₁ (G) which are invariants by -translations (i.e. such that ¹(( _x f) )=( _x ((f)) for eachxG andfL ₁ (G); where _x f(y)=f(xy); x,y G). WhenG is compact, we study the algebraL ₁ (G) and obtain results analogous to ones obtained for the commutative case: we show thatL ₁ (G) is regular, all closed sets of its Guelfand spectrum are sets of synthesis and establish theorems of harmonic synthesis for functions inL _p (G) (p=1,2 or +).

We estimate the mean number of level upcrossings for a continuous stationary process with regular trajectories from discretized observations. We apply a non parametric estimator such that the joint probability density function of the process and its derivative is approximated by a polynomial perturbation of the product of the marginal densities. We evaluate the bias and the variance of this estimator with respect to the number of observations, the discretization step and the dimension of the polynomial space.
