The dielectric permittivity tensor elements of a rotating cold collisionless plasma spheroid in an external magnetic field with toroidal and axial components are obtained. The effects of inhomogeneity in the densities of charged particles and the initial toroidal velocity on the dielectric permittivity tensor and field equations are investigated. The field components in terms of their toroidal components are calculated and it is shown that the toroidal components of the electric and magnetic fields are coupled by two differential equations. The influence of thermal and collisional effects on the dielectric tensor and field equations in the rotating plasma spheroid are also investigated. In the limiting spherical case, the dielectric tensor of a stationary magnetized collisionless cold plasma sphere is presented. 相似文献

A perfectly conducting elliptical cylinder filled with a warm plasma and immersed in an infinite axial magnetic field is considered. Using Maxwell’s equations and dielectric tensor, a Mathieu differential equation for axial component of electric field is obtained. Considering the boundary conditions, dispersion relation for waves in a plasma of warm electrons and immobile ions, which fills an elliptical waveguide and it is under the action of infinite axial magnetic field are calculated. Furthermore, dispersion relation and scalar potential in the quasi-static approximation in a cold magnetized plasma elliptical waveguide is calculated. Transverse and parallel dielectric permittivity elements have been derived for radio frequency waves in a laboratory dipole magnetic field plasma. Vlasov equation is resolved for both the trapped and untrapped particles as a boundary value problem to define their separate contributions to the dielectric tensor components. To estimate the wave power absorbed in the plasma volume the perturbed electric field and current density components are decomposed in a Fourier series over the poloidal angle. In this case, the dielectric characteristics can be analyzed independently of the solution of the Maxwell's equations. As usual, imaginary part of the parallel permittivity elements is necessary to estimate the electron Landau damping of radio frequency waves, whereas imaginary part of the transverse permittivity elements is important to estimate the wave dissipation by the cyclotron resonances. Dispersion equations are obtained and analysis and homogenization are carried out in periodic and quasiperiodic plane layered structures consisting of alternating dielectric layers, metal and dielectric layers, as well as graphene sheets and dielectric (SiO2) layers. Situations are considered when these structures acquire the properties of hyperbolic metamaterials (HMMs), i.e., materials the real parts of whose effective permittivity tensor have opposite signs. It is shown that the application of solely dielectric layers is more promising in the context of reducing losses. 相似文献

Propagation characteristics of a high-power electromagnetic wave through an inhomogeneous magnetized plasma is investigated. Considering the momentum transfer equations for electrons and ions and taking into account the ponderomotive force, the distribution of electron density and dielectric permittivity are obtained. Using non-linear dielectric permittivity and Maxwell's equations in the absence of external current and charge densities, non-linear wave equations are achieved. The results indicate that the external static magnetic field can modify the profiles of both the electric and magnetic fields. It is also shown that the external static magnetic field enhances the amplitude of the electron density and the non-linear dielectric permittivity. 相似文献

从线性极化模的耦合模理论出发,分析了双叶应力区扭转光纤,即扭转保偏光纤,和四叶应力区扭转光纤.推导应力引起的在光纤芯区各向异性的介质张量表达式;利用该表达式得到线性极化模在有转角时的多叶应力区光纤中传输的耦合模方程;从而推得多叶应力区扭转光纤中的超本地模,由超本地模的相位常数来确定该光纤的双折射.在双叶、四叶应力区理想对称的条件下,前者可以得到较高的椭圆双折射,而后者则无任何双折射.同样的结论可推广到8叶或16叶的扭转光纤,都无任何双折射. 相似文献

Guided modes of a planar dielectric waveguide which encounter a nondiagonal permittivity tensor are neither TE nor TM, but hybrid. They are described by a pair of coupled second-order differential equations for the transversal electric and magnetic field components. We construct a real-valued function which plays the role of the transversal electric or magnetic field in the uncoupled Sturm-Liouville differential equation for TE or TM modes. The number of zeroes, or nodes, of this function labels the modes. The nodes increase with the prospective propagation constant. This fact is proven by constructing suitable self-adjoint operators and referring to the minimax principle. The nodal properties allow to formulate an efficient bisection algorithm for effective indices and field distributions of guided hybrid modes. 相似文献

the frequency domain and recovers the solutions for the guided and radiation fields in the time domain using the Laplace transformation

The paper presents an analytical investigation of the electromagnetic wave propagation in a tapered core dielectric elliptical step-index fiber. Implementing Maxwell's equations in elliptical coordinates, field components are deduced that essentially incorporate Mathieu and the modified Mathieu functions. The equations of electrodynamics in a rotating isotropic homogeneous dielectric are obtained in a covariant form in coordinates of a reference frame that accompanies the rotation of the dielectric. It is found from these equations, which have variable coefficients, that the medium of the rotating dielectric is anisotropic and inhomogeneous. To derive tensors of the electromagnetic field in a rotating reference frame (RRF), the fields and inductions of a virtual inertial reference frame (IRF) that instantaneously accompanies the motion of one of the points of the dielectric are used twice. Initially, using instantaneous local relations, they are expressed in terms of real fields and inductions of the rotating medium, and then they are transformed into fields and inductions of a stationary IRF, in which they are used as components of the tensors of the electromagnetic field. Thus, the electromagnetic field tensors in the IRF are determined taking into account a priori unknown real inhomogeneous permittivity \(\bar \varepsilon \) and permeability \(\bar \varepsilon \) of the rotating medium. At the final stage, the tensors in the RRF are obtained by transformation rules for covariant and contravariant tensor components in accordance with known analytical relationships of fixed and rotating coordinates. The properties of modes of a rotating ring resonator in the form of homogeneous TE waves that travel along and against the direction of rotation and, in particular, their normal frequencies are examined. The contribution of inhomogeneous properties of the medium of a rotating dielectric to the difference between the normal frequencies of the counterpropagating waves (to the Sagnac effect) is determined. In a solid material with known elastic and striction characteristics, its density and dielectric permittivity depend on the radial coordinate. These dependences are caused by the action of the centrifugal force and changes in the polarization and magnetization of the medium because of the rotational motion of charged particles. The coordinate dependences of permittivity \(\bar \varepsilon \) and permeability \(\bar \varepsilon \) make additional contributions to the inhomogeneous properties of the medium of the rotating dielectric and to the Sagnac effect. 相似文献

在外磁场作用下,复合介质的法拉第磁光效应依赖于颗粒膜电介质张量。而复合介质的电介质张量的计算相当复杂。运用了有效介质近似理论,利用非均匀复合介质的有效电场等于单个颗粒中局域场的平均值的自恰条件,由电介质张量εe方程及自洽条件导出了计算磁性颗粒膜系统磁光法拉第转角的解析公式。并应用导出的关系,以Cu金属颗粒为例,讨论了颗粒膜中金属颗粒含量及对应的基质、离子浓度、颗粒形状对法拉第转角的影响,结果表明,利用有效介质近似理论计算的结果与实验结果一致。 相似文献

The asymptotic solution of the Vlasov equation under the drift approximation, for an axially symmetric toroidal plasma configuration with an elliptic cross section of magnetic surfaces, is presented. The analytical expressions for the parallel component of the dielectric permittivity tensor are obtained. These expressions are used for theoretical analyses of the trapped and untrapped electron influence on the collisionless wave dissipation. The propagation of electromagnetic waves in a moving isotropic plasma and in a moving magnetoactive plasma is considered using the invariant methods of tensor analysis. Expressions are obtained for the dielectric permittivity tensor, the dispersion equations, and the refractive indexes of electromagnetic waves in these media. Using the quantum hydrodynamic (QHD) equations with magnetic field on the Wigner-Maxwell system, the general dielectric tensor and dispersion equation for quantum plasmas were derived. Dispersion relations of one-, two-stream and beam-plasma instabilities in uniform quantum magnetized plasmas are investigated through the new dielectric tensor. The magnetic field which is parallel to the fluid velocity does not work on stream instabilities. The quantum and thermal effects have remarkable impact on two-stream instability. The critical wave number for beam-plasma instability with quantum effects correction is given too. 相似文献
