A comb-like copolymer consisting of a poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene) backbone and poly(hydroxy ethyl acrylate) side chains, i.e. P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-PHEA, was synthesized through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using CTFE units as a macroinitiator. Successful synthesis and a microphase-separated structure of the copolymer were confirmed by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), FT-IR spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). This comb-like polymer was crosslinked with 4,5-imidazole dicarboxylic acid (IDA) via the esterification of the –OH groups of PHEA and the –COOH groups of IDA. Upon doping with phosphoric acid (H3PO4) to form imidazole–H3PO4 complexes, the proton conductivity of the membranes continuously increased with increasing H3PO4 content. A maximum proton conductivity of 0.015 S/cm was achieved at 120 °C under anhydrous conditions. In addition, these P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-PHEA/IDA/H3PO4 membranes exhibited good mechanical properties (765 MPa of Young's modulus), and high thermal stability up to 250 °C, as determined by a universal testing machine (UTM) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively.  相似文献

Proton conducting nanocomposite membranes consisting of poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene)-graft-poly(styrene sulfonic acid), i.e., P(VDF-co-CTFE)-g-PSSA graft copolymer and sulfonated silica and were prepared using a sol–gel reaction and subsequent oxidation of a silica precursor, i.e., (3-mercaptopropyl) trimethoxysilane (MPTMS). The successful formation of amorphous phase nanocomposite membranes was confirmed via FT-IR and wide-angle X-ray scattering. All membranes were semi-transparent and mechanically strong, as characterized by a universal tensile machine. Transmission electron microscopy and small-angle X-ray scattering analysis revealed that silica 5–10 nm in size were homogeneously dispersed in the matrix at up to 5 wt.% of MPTMS. At higher concentrations, the silica grew to more than 50 nm in size, which disrupted the microphase-separated structure of the graft copolymer. As a result, both proton conductivity (0.12 S/cm at 25 °C) and single cell performance (1.0 W/cm2 at 75 °C) were maximal at 5 wt.% MPTMS.  相似文献

Adsorption of the thermoresponsive copolymer of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide-co-4-vinylpyridine) (PNIPAM-co-P4VP) onto the core-shell microspheres of poly(styrene-co-methylacrylic acid) (PS-co-PMAA) is studied. The core-shell PS-co-PMAA microspheres are synthesized by one-stage soap-free polymerization in water. The copolymer of PNIPAM-co-P4VP is synthesized by free radical polymerization of N-isopropylacrylamide and 4-vinylpyridine in the mixture of DMF and water using K2S2O8 as initiator. Adsorption of PNIPAM-co-P4VP onto the core-shell PS-co-PMAA microspheres results in formation of the composite microspheres of PS/PMAA-P4VP/PNIPAM. The driven force to adsorb the copolymer of P4VP-co-PNIPAM onto the core-shell PS-co-PMAA microspheres is ascribed to hydrogen-bonding and electrostatic affinity between the P4VP and PMAA segments. The resultant composite microspheres of PS/PMAA-P4VP/PNIPAM with surface chains of PNIPAM are thermoresponsive in water and show a cloud-point temperature at about 33 °C.  相似文献

A series of amphiphilic graft copolymers of poly (vinylidene fluoride‐co‐chlorotrifluoroethylene)‐g‐poly(2‐vinyl pyridine), P (VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐P2VP, with different degrees of P2VP grafting (from 26.3 to 45.6 wt%) was synthesized via one‐pot atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The amphiphilic properties of P (VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐P2VP graft copolymers allowed itself to self‐assemble into nanoscale structures. P (VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐P2VP graft copolymers were introduced into neat P (VDF‐co‐CTFE) as additives to form blending membranes. When two different solvents, N‐methyl‐2‐pyrrolidone (NMP) and dimethylformamide (DMF), were used, specific organized crystalline structures were observed only in the NMP systems. P (VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐P2VP played a pivotal role in controlling the morphology and pore structure of membranes. The water flux of the membranes increased from 57.2 to 310.1 L m?2 h?1 bar?1 with an increase in the PVDF‐co‐CTFE‐g‐P2VP loading (from 0 to 30 wt%) due to increased porosity and hydrophilicity. The flux recovery ratio (FRR) increased from 67.03% to 87.18%, and the irreversible fouling (Rir) decreased from 32.97% to 12.82%. Moreover, the pure gas permeance of the membranes with respect to N2 was as high as 6.2 × 104 GPU (1 GPU = 10–6 cm3[STP]/[s cm2 cmHg]), indicating their possible use as a porous polymer support for gas separation applications.  相似文献

Glycerol 1,3-diglycerolate diacrylate (GDD) was graft copolymerized onto poly(3-hydroxyoctanoate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate) P(3HO-co-3HHX) to render the latter more hydrophilic. Grafting of P(3HO-co-3HHX) backbone was performed using benzoyl peroxide as free radical initiator in homogenous acetone solution. The graft copolymer of P(3HO-co-3HHX)-g-GDD was characterized using spectroscopic and thermal methods. The presence of GDD monomer in the grafted P(3HO-co-3HHX) materials linked through covalent bond was indicated by spectroscopic analyses. Different parameters affecting the graft yield viz. monomer concentration, initiator concentration, temperature and reaction time were also investigated. Water uptake measurement showed that P(3HO-co-3HHX)-g-GDD copolymer became more hydrophilic as the GDD concentration in the copolymer increased. Introduction of hydroxyl groups via grafted GDD monomers improved the wettability and imparted amphiphilicity to the graft copolymer, thus potentially improving their facility for cellular interaction. Thermal stability of grafted copolymer reduced with increased grafting yield. The activation energy, Ea, for the graft copolymerization was calculated at ~ 51 kJ mol?1. Mechanism of grafting reaction was also proposed.  相似文献

In this study, poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐chlorotrifluoroethylene)‐graft‐poly(oxyethylene methacrylate), P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐POEM, an amphiphilic comb copolymer with hydrophobic P(VDF‐co‐CTFE) backbone and hydrophilic POEM side chains at 73:27 wt % was synthesized. The POEM side chains were grafted from the P(VDF‐co‐CTFE) mainchain backbone via atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using direct initiation of the chlorine atoms in CTFE units. Synthesis of microphase‐separated P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐POEM comb copolymer was successful, as confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR), FTIR spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Nanocomposite films were prepared using the comb copolymer as a template film and the in situ reduction of AgCF3SO3 precursor to silver nanoparticles under UV irradiation. Silver nanoparticles with 4–8 nm in average size were in situ created in the solid state template film, as revealed by TEM, UV–visible spectroscopy, and wide angle X‐ray scattering (WAXS). Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) presented the selective incorporation and the in situ growth of silver nanoparticles within the hydrophilic POEM domains of microphase‐separated comb copolymer film. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Gold nanoparticles by using the mixture of polystyrene-block-poly(2-vinyl pyridine)/poly(2-vinyl pyridine)-block-poly(ethylene oxide) (PS-b-P2VP/P2VP-b-PEO) block copolymers as encapsulating agent was prepared. The prepared nanoparticles were characterized by transmission electron microscopy, UV-Vis spectroscopy and contact angle. It is demonstrated that the obtained gold nanoparticles are covered with mixed block copolymer shells. The hydrophilic property of the nanoparticles can be varied by the change of the dispersion medium. The obtained gold nanoparticles with mixed block copolymer shells are stable in organic solvents (such as tetrahydrofuran and toluene) and water.  相似文献

Cellulose diacetate-graft-poly(L-lactide) (CDA-g-PLLA) and poly(vinyl acetate-co-vinyl alcohol)-graft-PLLA (P(VAc-co-VOH)-g-PLLA) were synthesized over a range of compositions, by ring-opening copolymerization of L-lactide at the original hydroxyl positions of the respective trunk polymers, CDA (acetyl DS = 2.15) and P(VAc-co-VOH)-g-PLLA (VAc = 64.2 mol%). All the products of both graft copolymer series were non-crystallizable and their solution-cast films showed no domain segregation of the two components that constituted the trunk and side-chains. A comparative study on the molecular orientation and optical anisotropy induced by uniaxial stretching of film samples was undertaken for the two copolymer series with various side-chain lengths. Overall behaviour of the orientation was estimated from the statistical second (<cos2 ω>) and fourth (<cos4 ω>) moments obtained by a fluorescence polarization method using a rod-like probe of ~2.5 nm. Upon stretching, any film of both series imparted a positive orientation function, i.e., f = (3 <cos2 ω> − 1)/2 > 0, which increased with the extent of deformation. The degree of molecular orientation was higher in the CDA-graft series with a semi-rigid trunk, and, in both series, it declined monotonically with increasing content of the PLLA side-chain. With regard to the optical anisotropy, CDA-g-PLLA films always exhibited a positive birefringence (Δn > 0) upon stretching, while drawn films of P(VAc-co-VOH)-g-PLLA displayed a negative one. This contrast in polarity reflects a difference in the intrinsic birefringence between the two trunk polymers. Of interest was the finding of a discontinuous change in Δn value with copolymer composition (PLLA content) for the respective graft series, when compared at a given stage of elongation of the films. Discussion took into consideration the locally different orientation manners of the attached PLLA chain segments.  相似文献

In this work,a new type of block polymers,polystyrene-b-poly[(N-isopropyl acrylamide)-co-(vinyl benzyl chloride)](PS-b-P(NIPAM-co-VBC)),was prepared via reversible addition fragmentation transfer polymerization, then pentacyano(4-(dimethylamino pyridine))ferrate(Fe-DMAP) was attached to VBC units through a quaternization process. The Fe(Ⅱ)-coordinated PS-b-P[NIPAM-co-(VBC-Fe-DMAP)]block copolymers were characterized by ~1H-NMR,FT-IR and TGA.The self-assembly behavior of the block copolymers was also investigated and the micelle morphology was characterized by TEM.It was found that the PS-b-P(NIPAM-co-VBC) block polymer and Fe-coordinated block copolymer could both form spherical micelles in DMF/MeOH mixed solvent.  相似文献

Nanofiber-coated polypropylene (PP) separator membranes were prepared by coating a Celgard® microporous PP membrane with electrospun polyvinylidene fluoride-co-chlorotrifluoroethylene (PVDF-co-CTFE) and PVDF-co-CTFE/polyvinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene (PVDF-co-HFP) nanofibers. Three PVDF polymer solutions of varying compositions were used in the preparation of the nanofiber coatings. Two of the polymer solutions were PVDF-co-CTFE blends made using different types of PVDF-co-HFP copolymers. The PVDF-co-CTFE and PVDF-co-CTFE/PVDF-co-HFP blend nanofiber coatings have been found to have comparable adhesion to the PP microporous membrane substrate. The electrolyte uptakes and separator–electrode adhesion properties of nanofiber-coated membranes were evaluated. Both the electrolyte uptake and the separator–electrode adhesion were improved by the nanofiber coatings. The improvement in electrolyte update capacity is not only related to the gelation capability of the PVDF copolymer nanofibers, but also attributed to the increased porosity and capillary effect on nanofibrous structure of the electrospun nanofiber coatings. Enhancement of the separator–electrode adhesion was owing to the adhesion properties of the copolymer nanofiber coatings. Compared with the PVDF-co-CTFE/PVDF-co-HFP blend nanofiber coatings studied, the PVDF-co-CTFE coating was more effective in improving the electrolyte uptake and separator–electrode adhesion. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Graft copolymers comprising poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐chlorotrifluoroethylene) backbone and poly(styrene sulfonic acid) side chains, i.e. P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐PSSA were synthesized using atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) for composite nanofiltration (NF) membranes. Direct initiation of the secondary chlorinated site of CTFE units facilitates grafting of PSSA, as revealed by FT‐IR spectroscopy. The successful “grafting from” method and the microphase‐separated structure of the graft copolymer were confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Wide angle X‐ray scattering (WAXS) also showed the decrease in the crystallinity of P(VDF‐co‐CTFE) upon graft copolymerization. Composite NF membranes were prepared from P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐PSSA as a top layer coated onto P(VDF‐co‐CTFE) ultrafiltration support membrane. Both the rejections and the flux of composite membranes increased with increasing PSSA concentration due to the increase in SO3H groups and membrane hydrophilicity, as supported by contact angle measurement. The rejections of NF membranes containing 47 wt% of PSSA were 83% for Na2SO4 and 28% for NaCl, and the solution flux were 18 and 32 L/m2 hr, respectively, at 0.3 MPa pressure. Micelles with azobenzene at the coronas or the cores were prepared by the micellization of nonamphiphilic diblock copolymers through hydrogen bond cross-linking. We used 4-(phenylazophenoxymethyl)styrene (AS) as the azobenzene. A poly(vinylphenol)-block-poly(AS-co-styrene) diblock copolymer (PVPh-b-P(AS-co-St)) was prepared by combination of the nitroxide-mediated living radical polymerization and the hydrolysis. The copolymer contained ca. 1 mol% of the azobenzene units in the P(AS-co-St) blocks on the basis of 1H NMR analysis. The PVPh-b-P(AS-co-St) copolymer showed no micellization in 1,4-dioxane, the nonselective solvent. Dynamic light scattering demonstrated that the copolymer formed micelles in the presence of 1,4-butanediamine (BDA) in this solvent. 1H NMR analysis revealed that the azobenzene moieties were located at the coronas of the micelles, because the signals of the aromatic protons originating from the azobenzene had no changes in the shape and the intensity by the micellization. UV analysis supported the presence of the azobenzene at the micellar coronas. The size of the PVPh-b-P(AS-co-St) micelles was independent of the copolymer concentration. On the other hand, the aggregation number of the micelles was dependent not only on the copolymer concentration but also on the kind of the diamine. A poly(AS-co-vinylphenol)-block-polystyrene diblock copolymer (P(AS-co-VPh)-b-PSt) formed the micelles with the azobenzene at the cores of the micelles by BDA. UV analysis demonstrated that the azobenzene at the micellar cores still had the potential to function as photorefractive switching.  相似文献

A series of supramolecular block copolymers were prepared using poly(styrene)-b-poly(4-vinylpyridine)(PS-b-P4VP) which coordinated with cobalt dodecyl benzene sulfonate (Co(DBS)2) in tetrahydrofuran (THF). Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), UV-vis absorption spectroscopy (UV) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) showed that Co(DBS)2 coordinated to the lone electron pairs of the pyridine nitrogens in the P4VP block and leaded to complexes. The supramolecular block copolymers could self-assemble into nanosized micelles with different shapes and dimensions in THF, depending on the number of Co(DBS)2 groups per 4-vinylpyridine (repeat unit was denoted by n) and the ratio between PS block length and P4VP block length. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) results showed that when the number of repeat units of P4VP was more than that of PS, micelles with different interesting shapes such as spheres, rods, vesicles, large compound vesicles (LCVs) and the large compound micelles (LCMs) were observed if increasing the content of the Co(DBS)2 in PS-b-P4VP copolymer/THF solution; When the number of repeat units of P4VP was less than that of PS, the micelle morphologies changed from spheres to rods, bi-layer, and LCMs if the Co(DBS)2 content was increased progressively.  相似文献

Simulated graft copolymer of poly(acrylic acid-co-stearyl acylate) [P(AA-co-SA)] and poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) was synthesized, where acrylic acid, stearyl acylate and PEG was employed as the pH-sensitive, hydrophobic and hydrophilic segment, respectively. Polymeric nanoparticles prepared by the dialysis of simulated graft copolymer solution in dimethylformamide against citrate buffer solution with different pH values were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), fluorescence technique and laser light scattering (LLS). TEM image revealed the spherical shape of the self-aggregates, which was further confirmed by LLS measurements. The critical aggregation concentration increased markedly (10 to 150 mg/L) with increasing pH (4.6 to 7.0), consistent with the de-protonation of carboxylic groups at higher pH. The hydrodynamic radius of polymeric nanoparticles decreased from 118 nm at pH 3.4 to 90 nm at pH 7.0. The controlled release of indomethacin from those nanoparticles was investigated, and the self-assembled nanoparticles exhibited improved performance in controlled drug release.  相似文献

Poly(4‐vinylpyridine) macromonomer (St‐P4VP) with a styryl end group was synthesized by atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of 4‐vinylpyridine using p‐(chloromethyl)styrene (CMSt) as functional initiator, CuCl as catalyst and tris[2‐(dimethylamino)ethyl]amine (Me6TREN) as ligand in 2‐propanol. The structure of St‐P4VP macromonomer was identified by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR). The result of gel permeation chromatography (GPC) illustrated that the number‐average molecular weight of St‐P4VP could be controlled by adjusting polymerization conditions. Poly(4‐vinylpyridine) grafted polystyrene microspheres (P4VP‐g‐PSt) were then prepared by dispersion copolymerization of styrene with St‐P4VP macromonomers. The effects of polymerization reaction parameters such as medium polarity, concentration of St‐P4VP macromonomer and polymerization temperature on the sizes and size distribution of P4VP‐g‐PSt microspheres were investigated. The results of transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and laser light scattering (LLS) indicated that mono‐dispersed P4VP‐g‐PSt microspheres with average diameters of 100–200 nm could be obtained when the molar ratio of St to St‐P4VP was 0.25:100 in ethanol/water mixed solvents (V/V=80:20) at 60°C. Such kind of graft copolymer microspheres was expected to be applied to many fields such as drug delivery system and protein adsorption/separation system due to their particular structure.  相似文献

A novel graft copolymer consisting of a poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐chlorotrifluoroethylene) backbone and poly(glycidyl methacrylate) side chains, that is, P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐PGMA, was synthesized through atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) using CTFE units as a macroinitiator. Successful synthesis and microphase‐separated structure of the polymer were confirmed by 1H NMR, FTIR spectroscopy, and TEM. As‐synthesized P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐PGMA copolymer was sulfonated by sodium bisulfite, followed by thermal crosslinking with sulfosuccinic acid (SA) via the esterification to produce grafted/crosslinked polymer electrolyte membranes. The IEC values continuously increased with increasing SA content but water uptake increased with SA content up to 10 wt %, above which it decreased again as a result of competitive effect between crosslinking and hydrophilicity of membranes. At 20 wt % of SA content, the proton conductivity reached 0.057 and 0.11 S/cm at 20 and 80 °C, respectively. The grafted/crosslinked P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐PGMA/SA membranes exhibited good mechanical properties (>400 MPa of Young's modulus) and high thermal stability (up to 300 °C), as determined by a universal testing machine (UTM) and TGA, respectively. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. To address the challenge of metal contamination, a “graft from” approach via organocatalyzed atom transfer radical polymerization (O‐ATRP) is developed to synthesize poly(vinylidene fluoride‐co‐chlorotrifluoroethylene) (P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)) graft copolymers. N‐phenylphenothiazine is utilized as a model organic photoredox catalyst for catalyzing the (co)polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA), methacrylate (MA), and n‐butyl acrylate (BA). By employing this technique, high temporal control of polymerization and graft content are achieved. A series of P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐PMMA, P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐PMA, and P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐PBA is prepared under mild conditions. The resultant graft copolymer can be used as macroinitiator to re‐initiate O‐ATRP to synthesize P(VDF‐co‐CTFE)‐g‐(PMMA‐b‐PMA), which might exhibit the potential application as novel dielectric material.  相似文献

Abstract

Novel thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) consisting of a central rubbery polyisobutylene (PIB) segment flanked by two glassy outer segments comprising indene (Ind)-co-p-methylstyrene (pMeSt) random copolymers have been prepared. The synthesis was effected by sequential monomer addition in one reactor: The process starts by the biliving homopolymerization of isobutylene (IB) and yields the living dication +PIB+; the latter, upon the introduction of Ind/pMeSt mixtures, induces the living copolymerization of these monomers and yields the target TPE P(Ind-co-pMeSt)-b-PIB-b-P(Ind-co-pMeSt) triblock. The length of the rubbery midblock and the composition of the Ind-co-pMeSt random copolymer outer blocks (i.e., the overall composition of the triblocks) can be readily controlled. The glass transition temperature (Tg ) of the outer blocks can be fine-tuned by controlling the relative Ind/ pMeSt composition. The triblocks are excellent TPEs; for example, a P(Ind-co-pMeSt)-b-PIB-b-P(Ind-co-pMeSt) of M n ≈ 115,000 g/mol containing a PIB midblock of M n ≈ 70,200 g/mol and glassy copolymer outer blocks of P(Ind-co-pMeSt) [Ind/pMeSt = 41/59 (w/w)] exhibited 23.4 MPa tensile strength and 460% elongation. Tensile strengths and 300% moduli increase with the relative amount of the glassy segment present. Hardness increases with increasing Ind content.  相似文献

Light-stable micelles with azo dyes were prepared by micelle formation of a nonamphiphilic diblock copolymer containing azobenzene and UV absorbent at ca. 1 mol% as the unit ratios. The nonamphiphilic block copolymer consists of two different kinds of random copolymer blocks: poly[4-(phenylazophenoxymethyl)styrene-co-vinylphenol] (P(AS-co-VPh)) and poly[4-(2-hydroxybenzophenoxymethyl)styrene-co-styrene] (P(HBS-co-St)). This random block copolymer, P(AS-co-VPh)-b-P(HBS-co-St) formed the micelles in the presence of 1,4-butanediamine (BDA) through hydrogen bond cross-linking between the VPh units via BDA. The micelles had the azobenzene moieties at the cores and the UV absorbents at the coronas. The micelles showed a small color difference in color fading experiments, in comparison with the unimers and with micelles having no UV absorbent at the coronas. It is significant that the diblock copolymer forms the micelles and has the UV absorbents at the coronas to suppress the color fading. Furthermore, the chain length of ,-diamines had no effect on the hydrodynamic radius of the micelles, but affected the aggregation number and the cmc.  相似文献

Novel kind of core-shell corona complex micelles were prepared, which enhanced both the hydrolytic stability and the photostability of water-soluble zinc tetrakis(4-sulfonatophenyl) porphyrin (ZnTPPS) in acidic aqueous solutions. The core-shell gold nanoparticles (AuNPS) were synthesized by reducing HAuCl4 and di-thioester terminated block copolymer, poly(Nisopropylacrylamide)-block-poly(4-vinylpyridine) (PNIPAM-b-P4VP). The complex micelles with gold core, P4VP/ZnTPPS shell and PNIPAM corona were formed by simple mixing of gold nanoparticles and ZnTPPS. The photochemical properties of the complex micelles were studied by UV–Visiblespectroscopy and fluorescence spectroscopy. The results showed trapping of ZnTPPS in the positively charged micellar shell that effectively prevented demetallation of the ZnTPPS that would occur in acidic aqueous solutions. Furthermore, with appropriate concentration of gold nanoparticles, ZnTPPS in the complex micelle had excellent photostability by suppression of generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS). The enhanced stability of ZnTPPS in acidic aqueous media could be extensively used for photocatalysis and in solar cells.  相似文献
