A novel and simple fluorescent chemosensor based on rhodamine was designed and synthesized to detect Hg(2+) with high selectivity. The structure of chemosensor 1 was characterized by IR, (1)H NMR, and HRMS spectroscopies. Chemosensor 1 exhibited distinct fluorescent and colorimetric changes toward Hg(2+) in an ethanol/water (80/20, v/v) solution, which resulted in the formation of 1/Hg(2+) complex with the Hg(2+)-induced ring opening of the spirolactam ring in rhodamine. The reversibility of chemosensor 1 was verified through its spectral response toward Hg(2+) ions and TBAI (tetrabutylammonium iodide) titration experiments.  相似文献

A novel squaraine-based chemosensor SQ-1 has been synthesized, and its sensing behavior toward various metal ions was investigated by UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopies. In AcOH-H(2)O (40:60, v/v) solution, Hg(2+) ions coordinate with SQ-1 causing a deaggregation which induces a visual color and absorption spectral changes as well as strong fluorescence. In contrast, the addition of other metals (e.g., Pb(2+), Cd(2+), Cu(2+), Zn(2+), Al(3+), Ni(2+), Co(2+), Fe(3+), Ca(2+), K(+), Mg(2+), Na(+), and Ag(+)) does not induce these changes at all. Thus SQ-1 is a specific Hg(2+) sensing agent due to the inducing deaggregation of the dye molecule by Hg(2+).  相似文献

Dansyl-labeled methionine is synthesized by solid-phase synthesis, and found to be a highly sensitive and selective sensor for Hg(2+). The sensor sensitively detects Hg(2+) ions in aqueous solution by a turn-on response; however, the sensor detects Hg(2+) ions by a turn-off response in organic and mixed aqueous-organic solutions. We investigated the binding stoichiometry, binding constant, and binding mode of the sensor under various solvent conditions. In 100% aqueous solution, 2 : 1 complexation of the sensor with Hg(2+) ions is more favorable than 1 : 1 complexation, whereas the sensor preferentially forms a 1 : 1 complex in 100% CH(3)CN or in 50% CH(3)CN-aqueous solutions. Results reveal that the stoichiometry of the sensor-Hg(2+) complex plays an important role in the type of response to Hg(2+) ions, and that 2 : 1 complexation is required for a turn-on response to Hg(2+) ions in aqueous solution.  相似文献

A coumarin-derived complex, Hg(2)L(2), was reported as a highly sensitive and selective probe for the detection of mercapto biomolecules in aqueous solution. The addition of Cys to a 99% aqueous solution of Hg(2)L(2) resulted in rapid and remarkable fluorescence OFF-ON (emission at 525 nm) due to the ligand-exchange reaction of Cys with L coordinated to Hg(2+). The increased fluorescence can be completely quenched by Hg(2+) and recovered again by the subsequent addition of Cys. Such a fluorescence OFF-ON circle can be repeated at least 10 times by the alterative addition of Cys and Hg(2+) to the solution of Hg(2)L(2), indicating that it can be used as a convertible and reversible probe for the detection of Cys. The interconversion of Hg(2)L(2) and L via the decomplexation/complexation by the modulation of Cys/Hg(2+) was definitely verified from their crystal structures. Other competitive amino acids without a thiol group cannot induce any fluorescence changes, implying that Hg(2)L(2) can selectively determine mercapto biomolecules. Using confocal fluorescence imaging, L/Hg(2)L(2) as a pair of reversible probes can be further applied to track and monitor the self-detoxification process of Hg(2+) ions in SYS5 cells.  相似文献

A novel rhodamine-based highly sensitive and selective colorimetric off-on fluorescent chemosensor for Hg(2+) ions is designed and prepared by using the well-known thiospirolactam rhodamine chromophore and furfural hydrazone as signal-reporting groups. The photophysical characterization and Hg(2+)-binding properties of sensor RS1 in neutral N, N-dimethylformamide (DMF) aqueous solution are also investigated. The signal change of the chemosensor is based on a specific metal ion induced reversible ring-opening mechanism of the rhodamine spirolactam. The response of the chemosensor for Hg(2+) ions is instantaneous and reversible. And it successfully exhibits a remarkably "turn on" response toward Hg(2+) over other metal ions (even those that exist in high concentration). Moreover, this sensor is applied for in vivo imaging in Rat Schwann cells to confirm that RS1 can be used as a fluorescent probe for monitoring Hg(2+) in living cells with satisfying results, which further demonstrates its value of practical applications in environmental and biological systems.  相似文献

Contamination of the environment with heavy metal ions has been an important concern throughout the world for decades. Driven by the need to detect trace amounts of mercury in environmental samples, this article demonstrates for the first time that nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of MPA-HCys-PDCA-modified gold nanoparticles can be used for rapid, easy and reliable screening of Hg(II) ions in aqueous solution, with high sensitivity (5 ppb) and selectivity over competing analytes. The hyper Rayleigh scattering (HRS) intensity increases 10 times after the addition of 20 ppm Hg(2+) ions to modified gold nanoparticle solution. The mechanism for HRS intensity change has been discussed in detail using particle size-dependent NLO properties as well as a two-state model. Our results show that the HRS assay for monitoring Hg(II) ions using MPA-HCys-PDCA-modified gold nanoparticles has excellent selectivity over alkali, alkaline earth (Li(+), Na(+), K(+), Mg(2+), Ca(2+)), and transition heavy metal ions (Pb(2+), Pb(+), Mn(2+), Fe(2+), Cu(2+), Ni(2+), Zn(2+), Cd(2+)).  相似文献

The syntheses and chromogenic properties of calix[4]arenes, carrying 5,17-bisallyl-11,23-bis(p-X-phenyl)azo 3a-c, 5,11,17-triallyl-23-(p-X-phenyl)azo 4a-c, and 5,17-bis(hydroxypropyl)-11,23-bis(p-X-phenyl)azo groups on the upper rims 5a,b, are described. Unexpectedly, UV/vis spectra of the very popular 4-(4-nitrophenyl)azophenol-coupled calix[4]arenes 3c and 4c did not show any shift in lambda(max) when 10 different metal perchlorates were added separately to the host in a methanol-chloroform (v/v = 1/399) cosolvent. In contrast, the absorption spectra of calix[4]arenes with either 4-methoxyphenylazo (3b-5b) or 4-phenylazo (3a-5a) on the upper rim showed substantial bathochromic shifts (Deltalambda = 128-162 nm) upon the addition of soft metal ions (such as Hg(2+), Cr(3+), and Cu(2+)). The 4-(4-methoxyphenyl)azophenol-coupled calix[4]arenes (the 3b-5b series) are found to be highly sensitive for mercury ion (Hg(2+)) among the 10 different metal ions screened. Strong interactions between Hg(2+) ion and the 4-(4-methoxyphenyl)azophenol(s) as well as the p-allyl groups are corroborated by the (1)H NMR studies of 3a,b.Hg(2+) complexes. Furthermore, Job's plots revealed 1:1 binding stoichiometry for all these p-allyl- and arylazo-coupled calix[4]arenes with transition metal ions, and Benesi-Hilderbrand plots were used for the determination of their association constants.  相似文献

Strong luminescence CdS quantum dots (QDs) have been prepared and modified with l-cysteine by a facile seeds-assistant technique in water. They are water-soluble and highly stable in aqueous solution. CdS QDs evaluated as a luminescence probe for heavy and transition metal (HTM) ions in aqueous solution was systematically studied. Five HTM ions such as silver(I) ion, copper(II) ion, mercury(II) ion, cobalt(II) ion, and nickel(II) ion significantly influence the photophysics of the emission from the functionalized CdS QDs. Experiment results showed that the fluorescence emission from CdS QDs was enhanced significantly by silver ion without any spectral shift, while several other bivalent HTM ions, such as Hg(2+), Cu(2+), Co(2+), and Ni(2+), exhibited effective optical quenching effect on QDs. Moreover, an obvious red-shift of emission band was observed in the quenching of CdS QDs for Hg(2+) and Cu(2+) ions. Under the optimal conditions, the response was linearly proportional to the concentration of Ag(+) ion ranging from 1.25 x 10(-7) to 5.0 x 10(-6)molL(-1) with a detection limit of 2.0 x 10(-8)molL(-1). The concentration dependence of the quenching effect on functionalized QDs for the other four HTM ions could be well described by typical Stern-Volmer equation, with the linear response of CdS QDs emission proportional to the concentration ranging from 1.50 x 10(-8) to 7.50 x 10(-7)molL(-1) for Hg(2+) ion, 3.0 x 10(-7) to 1.0 x 10(-5)molL(-1) for Ni(2+) ion, 4.59 x 10(-8) to 2.295 x 10(-6)molL(-1) for Cu(2+) ion, and 1.20 x 10(-7) to 6.0 x 10(-6)molL(-1) Co(2+) ion, respectively. Based on the distinct optical properties of CdS QDs system with the five HTM ions, and the relatively wide linear range and rapid response to HTM ions, CdS QDs can be developed as a potential identified luminescence probe for familiar HTM ions detection in aqueous solution.  相似文献

The first novel rhodamine B based sensor, rhodamine B hydrazide methyl 5-formyl-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate Schiff base (2) capable of detecting both Cu(2+) and Hg(2+) using two different detection modes has been designed and synthesized. The metal ion induced optical changes of 2 were investigated in MeOH:H(2)O (3:1) HEPES buffered solution at pH 7.4. Sensor 2 exhibits selective colorimetric recognition of Cu(2+) and fluorogenic recognition of Hg(2+) with UV-vis and fluorescence spectroscopy, respectively. Moreover, both of the Cu(2+) and Hg(2+) recognition processes are proven to be hardly influenced by other coexisting metal ions.  相似文献

A test strip for detection of Hg(2+) in aqueous solution based on the DNA-functionalized gold nanoparticles (DNA-AuNPs) was developed and evaluated. When Hg(2+) ions were introduced, the biotinylated DNA(2) hybridized with thiolated DNA(1) functionalized on the AuNPs (DNA(1)-AuNPs) to form mismatch complexes through thymine-Hg(2+)-thymine (T-Hg(2+)-T) coordination. The formed mismatch complexes and excess DNA(1)-AuNPs could be captured on the test line formed by streptavidin and the control line formed by DNA(3)-BSA, respectively. Two red lines appeared due to the accumulation of AuNPs, enabling visual detection of Hg(2+) with a detection limit of about 6 nM. The assay results can be obtained within 5 min. The results show that the test strip has excellent sensitivity and selectivity for detection of Hg(2+); thus it holds a great potential for rapid, on-site and real time detection of Hg(2+).  相似文献

Nuclear spin-spin coupling constants (1)J(Hg-Hg) in the systems Hg(2)(2+) and Hg(3)(2+) represent the largest coupling constants so far observed in NMR experiments. We have performed a computational study on these ions, on Hg(2)(2+) complexes with 18-crown-6 and 15-crown-5, and on Hg(3)(2+) with solvent molecules and counterions. The results obtained with our recently developed program for the density functional computation of heavy nucleus spin-spin coupling constants are in good agreement with experiments. The data reveal that the bare ions Hg(2)(2+) and Hg(3)(2+) would afford much larger coupling constants than those experimentally observed, with an upper limit of approximately 0.9 MHz for Hg(2)(2+). This limit is much larger than that previously estimated by Hückel theory. It is demonstrated that in solution or due to complexation the experimentally determined values are much smaller than the free ion's coupling constants. With the help of intuitive MO arguments, it is illustrated how the environment strongly reduces the coupling constants in Hg(2)(2+) and Hg(3)(2+). The two-bond coupling constant (2)J(Hg-Hg) in Hg(3)(2+) is also examined.  相似文献

Three new compounds bearing furyl, aryl, or thienyl moieties linked to an imidazo-crown ether system (1, 2, and 3) were synthesized and fully characterized by elemental analysis, infrared, UV-vis absorption, and emission spectroscopy, X-ray crystal diffraction, and MALDI-TOF-MS spectrometry. The interaction toward metal ions (Ca(2+), Cu(2+), Ni(2+), and Hg(2+)) and F(-) has been explored in solution by absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. Mononuclear and binuclear metal complexes using Cu(2+) or Hg(2+) as metal centers have been synthesized and characterized. Compounds 2 and 3 show a noticeable enhancement of the fluorescence intensity in the presence of Ca(2+) and Cu(2+) ions. Moreover compound 3 presents a dual sensory detection way by modification of the fluorimetric and colorimetric properties in the presence of Cu(2+) or Hg(2+). EPR studies in frozen solution and in microcrystalline state of the dinuclear Cu(II)3 complex revealed the presence of an unique Cu(2+) type.  相似文献

A new rhodamine appended tripodal receptor 1 has been designed and synthesized. The receptor selectively recognizes Hg(2+) ions in CH(3)CN-water (4:1, v/v; 10 μM tris HCl buffer, pH 7.0) by displaying a ratiometric change in emission. Additionally, the visual detection is possible by a sharp change in color. The receptor shows in vitro detection of Hg(2+) ions in human cervical cancer (HeLa) cells.  相似文献

A colorimetric assay has been developed for the simultaneous selective detection of silver(I) and mercury(II) ions utilizing metal nanoparticles (NPs) as sensing element based on their unique surface plasmon resonance properties. In this method, sulfhydryl group modified cytosine-(C)-rich ssDNA (SH-C-ssDNA) was self-assembled on gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to produce the AuNPs-C-ssDNA complex, and sulfhydryl group modified thymine-(T)-rich ssDNA (SH-T-ssDNA) was self-assembled on silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) to produce the AgNPs-T-ssDNA complex. Oligonucleotides (SH-C-ssDNA or SH-T-ssDNA) could enhance the AuNPs or AgNPs against salt-induced aggregation. However, the presence of silver(I) ions (Ag(+)) in the complex of ssDNA-AuNPs would reduce the stability of AuNPs due to the formation of Ag(+) mediated C-Ag(+)-C base pairs accompanied with the AuNPs color change from red to purple or even to dark blue. Moreover, the presence of mercury(II) ions (Hg(2+)) would also reduce the stability of AgNPs due to the formation of Hg(2+) mediated T-Hg(2+)-T base pairs accompanied with the AgNPs color change from yellow to brown, then to dark purple. The presence of both Ag(+) and Hg(2+) will reduce the stability of both AuNPs and AgNPs and cause the visible color change. As a result, Ag(+) and Hg(2+) could be detected qualitatively and quantitatively by the naked eye or by UV-vis spectral measurement. The lowest detectable concentration of a 5 nM mixture of Ag(+) and Hg(2+) in the river water was gotten by the UV-vis spectral measurement.  相似文献

In this work, a novel fluorescence biosensor was demonstrated for detection of Hg(2+) ions with relatively high selectivity and sensitivity. The sensing scheme was based on G-quenching induced by Hg(2+) ions. In the presence of Hg(2+) ions, the single-stranded signal probe which has carboxylfluorescein (FAM) and guanine segment at its 5' and 3' ends, respectively, folded into duplex-like structure via the Hg(2+)-mediated coordination of T-Hg(2+)-T base pairs. It brought guannine segment close to the dye and caused a remarkable decrease of fluorescence signal. The sensor showed a sensitive response to Hg(2+) ions in a concentration range from 0.5 to 10 μM, and a detection limit of 0.5 nM was given. This homogeneous system required only a single-labeled oligonucleotide, operated by concise procedures, and possessed comparable sensitivity as previous approaches. Furthermore, the sensor exhibits a great perspective for future practical applications.  相似文献

Mercury ions (Hg(2+)) can specifically interact with the thymine-rich Hg(2+) aptamer and malachite green (MG) to form the Hg(2+) aptamer-MG-Hg(2+) complex, inducing the increase of resonance scattering (RS) intensity at 611 nm, which enables the label-free detection of Hg(2+) in aqueous solution with high selectivity and a detection limit of 1.7 nM.  相似文献

There is widespread interest in non-covalent bonding and weak interactions, such as electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonding, solvophobic/hydrophobic interactions, metal-metal interactions, and π-π stacking, to tune the molecular assembly of planar π-conjugated organic and inorganic molecules. Inspired by the roles of metal-aromatic interaction in biological systems, such as in ion channels and metalloproteins, herein, we report the first example of the use of Hg(2+) -aromatic interactions to selectively control the assembly and disassembly of zinc-salen complexes in aqueous media; moreover, this process exhibited significant "turn on" fluorescent properties. UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopic analysis of the titration of Hg(2+) ions versus complex ZnL(1) revealed that the higher binding affinity of Hg(2+) ions (compared to 13 other metal ions) was ascribed to specific interactions between the Hg(2+) ions and the phenyl rings of ZnL(1); this result was also confirmed by (1)H NMR spectroscopy and HRMS (ESI). Further evidence for this type of interaction was obtained from the reaction of small-molecule analogue L(1) with Hg(2+) ions, which demonstrates the proximity of the N-alkyl group to the aromatic protons during Hg(2+)-ion binding, which led to the consequential H/D exchange reaction with D(2) O. DFT modeling of such interactions between the Hg(2+) ions and the phenyl rings afforded calculated distances between the C and Hg atoms (2.29 ?) that were indicative of C-Hg bond-formation, under the direction of the N atom of the morpholine ring. The unusual coordination of Hg(2+) ions to the phenyl ring of the metallosalen complexes not only strengthened the binding ability but also increased the steric effect to promote the disassembly of ZnL(1) in aqueous media.  相似文献

A naphthylthiourea-modified cyclodextrin (1) and its urea derivative (2) were synthesized, and their fluorescence behaviors in the presence of various metal ions were investigated. Significantly, 1 showed a highly sensitive and selective fluorescence sensing ability for Hg(2+) over other metal ions in both water and living cells. That is, the addition of Hg(2+) to an aqueous solution of 1 gave a significantly enhanced fluorescence at ~380 nm. In contrast, the addition of other metal ions induced negligible fluorescence changes. The possible mechanism may be due to the transformation of thiourea to urea by Hg(2+)-induced desulfurization in water.  相似文献

A new approach for the detection of Hg(2+) is reported based on color changes from which gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) are surrounded by a layer of HgS quantum dots to form in situ Au@HgS core-shell nanostructures. The surface plasmon resonance (SPR) absorption of the gold core was changed due to a shell layer of HgS formed on the surface of the Au NPs, which brings the colour change of the aqueous solution. Therefore, Hg(2+) can be recognized by visualizing the colour change of the Au@HgS core-shell nanostructures, and can be detected quantitatively by measurement of the UV-vis spectra. Some effects on the detection of Hg(2+) were investigated in detail. This method was used to detect Hg(2+) with excellent selectivity and high sensitivity. In our method, the lowest detected concentrations for mercury ions were 5.0 × 10(-6) M observed by the naked eye and 0.486 nM as measured by UV-vis spectra. At the range from 8.0 × 10(-5) to 1.0 × 10(-8) M of Hg(2+), this method was shown to have a good linear relationship.  相似文献

A series of monostyryl boron dipyrromethenes appended with an NO(4), NO(2)S(2), N(3)O(4), or N(3)O(2)S(2)-type ligand have been prepared and characterised. While the UV-Vis spectra of the former three compounds in CH(3)CN/H(2)O (2?:?3 v/v) do not respond towards a wide range of metal ions, the derivative with an N(3)O(2)S(2)-ligand exhibits a highly selective and sensitive spectral response towards Hg(2+) ions. The absorption band is blue-shifted by 40 nm due to inhibition of the intramolecular charge transfer process upon metal complexation. The fluorescence is also turned on giving a strong emission band at 572 nm. The colour changes can be easily detected by the naked eye. The results suggest that this compound serves as a promising colourimetric and fluorescent sensor for Hg(2+) ions in this mixed aqueous medium.  相似文献
