We establish a stability estimate for an inverse boundary coefficient problem in thermal imaging. The inverse problem under consideration consists in the determination of a boundary coefficient appearing in a boundary value problem for the heat equation with Robin boundary condition (we note here that the initial condition is assumed to be a priori unknown). Our stability estimate is of logarithmic type and it is essentially based on a logarithmic estimate for a Cauchy problem for the Laplace equation.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider a nonlinear viscoelastic inverse problem with memory in the boundary. Under some suitable conditions on the coefficients, relaxation function, and initial data, we proved stability of solutions when the integral overdetermination tends to zero as time goes to infinity. Stationary thermography can be used for investigating the functional form of a nonlinear cooling law that describes heat exchanges through an inaccessible part of the boundary of a conductor. In this paper, we obtain a logarithmic stability estimate for the associated nonlinear inverse problem. This stability estimate is obtained from the convergence and sensitivity analysis of a finite difference method for the numerical solution of the Cauchy problem for Laplace's equation, based on the Störmer–Verlet scheme.  相似文献

Two algorithms are described [Ferris D. H. (fixed time‐step method) and Gupta and Kumar (variable time‐step method)] that solve a mathematical model for the study of the one‐dimensional moving boundary problem with implicit boundary conditions. Landau's transformation is used, in order to work with a fixed number of nodes at each time‐step. The p.d.e. is discretized using an implicit finite difference scheme. The mathematical model describes the oxygen diffusion in absorbing tissues. We use the singular sources method to detect the shape of the obstacle in a mixed boundary value problem. The basic idea of the method is based on the singular behavior of the scattered field of the incident point-sources on the boundary of the obstacle. Moreover we take advantage of the scattered field estimate by the backprojection operator. Also we give a uniqueness proof for the shape reconstruction.  相似文献

Conditional inference about a mean of an inverse Gaussian distribution with known coefficient of variation is discussed. For a random sample from the distribution, sufficient statistics with respect to the mean parameter include an ancillary statistic. The effects of conditioning on the ancillary statistic are investigated. It is shown that the model provides a good illustration of R. A. Our objective, here, is to generalize our earlier results on the existence of classical convex solution to a free boundary problem with a Bernoulli-type boundary gradient condition and with the -Laplacian as the governing operator. The main theorems of this paper assert that the exterior and the interior free boundary problem with a Bernoulli law, i.e. with a prescribed pressure on the ``free' streamline of the flow, have convex solutions provided the initial domains are convex. The continuous function is subject to certain convexity properties. In our earlier results we have considered the case of constant . In the lines of the proof of the main results we also prove the semi-continuity (up to the boundary) of the gradient of the -capacitary potentials in convex rings, with boundaries.

We study the stability of the planar travelling wave solution to a free boundary problem for the heat equation in the whole . We turn the problem into a fully nonlinear parabolic system and establish a stability result which is the proper generalization of the one-dimensional case. The curvature terms contribute a gradient squared corresponding to critical growth. The latter is eliminated by means of the Hopf-Cole transformation. We recently proposed in [Cheng, XL et al. A novel coupled complex boundary method for inverse source problems Inverse Problem 2014 30 055002] a coupled complex boundary method (CCBM) for inverse source problems. In this paper, we apply the CCBM to inverse conductivity problems (ICPs) with one measurement. In the ICP, the diffusion coefficient q is to be determined from both Dirichlet and Neumann boundary data. With the CCBM, q is sought such that the imaginary part of the solution of a forward Robin boundary value problem vanishes in the problem domain. This brings in advantages on robustness and computation in reconstruction. Based on the complex forward problem, the Tikhonov regularization is used for a stable reconstruction. Some theoretical analysis is given on the optimization models. Several numerical examples are provided to show the feasibility and usefulness of the CCBM for the ICP. It is illustrated that as long as all the subdomains share some portion of the boundary, our CCBM-based Tikhonov regularization method can reconstruct the diffusion parameters stably and effectively.  相似文献

Competitive autonomous systems in have the remarkable property of verifying an analogue of the Poincaré-Bendixon theorem for planar equations. This fact allows us to prove the existence of orbitally stable closed orbits for those systems under easily checkable hypothesis. Our aim is to introduce, by changing the ordering in , a new class of autonomous systems for which the preceding results directly extend. As a consequence we shall reinterpret some of the results of R. A. Smith in terms of the theory of monotone systems.

The purpose of this paper is to discuss basic results of boundary value problems of fractional differential equations (BVP-FDEs) via the concept of Caputo fractional derivative with respect to another function with the order α(1,2). The existence and uniqueness results of a solution for BVP-FDEs are discussed by utilizing Banach fixed point theorem and Schaefer's fixed point theorem. We also provide new sufficient conditions to guarantee the Hyers-Ulam stability and the Hyers–Ulam–Rassias stability of BVP-FDEs. In this study, we consider a coefficient problem of a quasi-linear two-dimensional parabolic inverse problem with periodic boundary and integral over determination conditions. We prove the existence, uniqueness and continuously dependence upon the data of the solution by iteration method. This article considers the inverse problem of identification of a time‐dependent thermal diffusivity together with the temperature in an one‐dimensional heat equation with nonlocal boundary and integral overdetermination conditions when a heat exchange takes place across boundary of the material. The well‐posedness of the problem is studied under some regularity, and consistency conditions on the data of the problem together with the nonnegativity condition on the Fourier coefficients of the initial data and source term. The inverse problem is also studied numerically by using the Crank–Nicolson finite difference scheme combined with predictor‐corrector technique.
