Although R2O3:MoO3=1:6 (R=rare earth) compounds are known in the R2O3-MoO3 phase diagrams since a long time, no structural characterization has been achieved because a conventional solid-state reaction yields powder samples. We obtained single crystals of R2Mo6O21·H2O (R=Pr, Nd, Sm, and Eu) by thermal decomposition of [R2(H2O)12Mo8O27nH2O at around 685-715 °C for 2 h, and determined their crystal structures. The simulated XRD patterns of R2Mo6O21·H2O were consistent with those of previously reported R2O3:MoO3=1:6 compounds. All R2Mo6O21·H2O compounds crystallize isostructurally in tetragonal, P4/ncc (No. 130), a=8.9962(5), 8.9689(6), 8.9207(4), and 8.875(2) Å; c=26.521(2), 26.519(2), 26.304(2), and 26.15(1) Å; Z=4; R1=0.026, 0.024, 0.024, and 0.021, for R=Pr, Nd, Sm, and Eu, respectively. The crystal structure of R2Mo6O21·H2O consists of two [Mo2O7]2−-containing layers (A and B layers) and two interstitial R(1)3+ and R(2)3+ cations. Each [Mo2O7]2− group is composed of two corner-sharing [MoO4] tetrahedra. The [Mo2O7]2− in the B layer exhibits a disorder to form a pseudo-[Mo4O9] group, in which four Mo and four O sites are half occupied. R(1)3+ achieves 8-fold coordination by O2− to form a [R(1)O8] square antiprism, while R(2)3+ achieves 9-fold coordination by O2− and H2O to form a [R(2)(H2O)O8] monocapped square antiprism. The disorder of the [Mo2O7]2− group in the B layer induces a large displacement of the O atoms in another [Mo2O7]2− group (in the A layer) and in the [R(1)O8] and [R(2)(H2O)O8] polyhedra. A remarkable broadening of the photoluminescence spectrum of Eu2Mo6O21·H2O supported the large displacement of O ligands coordinating Eu(1) and Eu(2).  相似文献

Pyrolysis of rare earth (R) polyoxomolybdate, [R2(H2O)12Mo8O27xH2O (R=La, Nd and Sm), at 750°C for 2-8 h results in crystallization of R2Mo4O15 compounds. β-La2Mo4O15 crystallizes together with an α-form in monoclinic P21/a (No. 14), a=13.8893(5), b=13.0757(4), c=20.0927(8) Å, β=95.199(2)°, V=3634.1(2) Å3, Z=12, R1(I>2σ(I))=0.048, Rw (all data)=0.116. The structure is built up with {LaOn} (n=9, 10) and {MoOn′} (n′=4-6) polyhedral units. The {LaOn} units are polymerized into a linear {La6O39} chain, while the {MoOn} are connected together to form {Mo4O15} and {Mo7O26} groups. The structure can be related to the α-form by partial rearrangement of O atoms and small shifts of La and Mo atoms. The R2Mo4O15 (R=Nd and Sm) compounds are isomorphous with the previously reported R=Eu and Gd analogs, crystallizing in triclinic, (No. 2), a=9.4989(5) and 9.4076(7), b=11.0088(7) and 10.9583(8), c=11.5665(6) and 11.5234(8) Å, α=104.141(3) and 104.225(3), β=109.838(3) and 109.603(3), γ=108.912(3) and 108.999(3)°, V=987.3(1) and 970.5(1) Å3, Z=3, R1(I>2σ(I))=0.028 and 0.030, Rw (all data)= 0.079 and 0.094, respectively. The crystal structure is composed of {RO8} and {MoOn′} (n′=4-6) polyhedral units. The molybdate units are condensed to give a corrugated {Mo4O17} chain. The square-antiprismatic {RO8} units share their trigonal and square faces, forming {R2O13} and {R2O12} groups, respectively. A very short R?R distance (3.557(6) Å for R=Nd; 3.4956(6) Å for R=Sm) is achieved in the latter unusual {R2O12} group. A common cationic arrangement was found in all the structures in the R2Mo4O15 family: a R-R pair with the shortest separation and surrounding 12 Mo atoms. The symmetry of the cationic arrangement was reduced with an increase of atomic number of R, viz. La>Ce, Pr>Nd-Gd≈Tb, Ho.  相似文献

Nine new A2Mo4Sb2O18 (A=Ce, Pr, Eu, Tb, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu) compounds have been synthesized by solid-state reactions. They are isostructural with six reported analogues of yttrium and other lanthanides and the monoclinic unit cell parameters of all fifteen of them vary linearly with the size of A3+ ion. Single crystal X-ray structures of eight A2Mo4Sb2O18 (A=Ce, Pr, Eu, Gd, Tb, Ho, Er, Tm) compounds have been determined. Neat A2Mo4Sb2O18 (A=Pr, Sm, Eu, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm) compounds exhibit characteristic rare earth metal photoluminescence.  相似文献

Single crystals of K3RESi2O7 (RE=Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu) were grown from a potassium fluoride flux. Two different structure types were found for this series. Silicates containing the larger rare earths, RE=Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb crystallize in a structure K3RESi2O7 that contains the rare-earth cation in both a slightly distorted octahedral and an ideal trigonal prismatic coordination environment, while in K3LuSi2O7, containing the smallest of the rare earths, lutetium is found solely in an octahedral coordination environment. The structure of K3LuSi2O7 crystallizes in space group P63/mmc with a=5.71160(10) Å and c=13.8883(6) Å. The structures containing the remaining rare earths crystallize in the space group P63/mcm with the lattice parameters of a=9.9359(2) Å, c=14.4295(4) Å, (K3GdSi2O7); a=9.88730(10) Å, c=14.3856(3) Å, (K3TbSi2O7); a=9.8673(2) Å, c=14.3572(4) Å, (K3DySi2O7); a=9.8408(3) Å, c=14.3206(6) Å, (K3HoSi2O7); a=9.82120(10) Å, c=14.2986(2) Å, (K3ErSi2O7); a=9.80200(10) Å, c=14.2863(4) Å, (K3TmSi2O7); a=9.78190(10) Å, c=14.2401(3) Å, (K3YbSi2O7). The optical properties of the silicates were investigated and K3TbSi2O7 was found to fluoresce in the visible.  相似文献

RCrO4 oxides (R=Pr, Gd, Tb, Tm, and Yb) have been synthesized at 773 K using the corresponding nitrates as precursors. X-ray diffraction data reveal that these samples are single phases and crystallize with the zircon-type structure, showing tetragonal symmetry, space group I41/amd. All the compounds are antiferromagnetic and the Néel temperature, which depends on the R3+ ion, takes values lower than 30 K. The presence of a canting appears to be responsible for the negative values of the magnetic susceptibility found below the compensation temperature. This uncommon phenomenon is named reversal of magnetization. It is field-dependent, being suppressed at 500 Oe for the TmCrO4 compound. The highest value of the compensation temperature (24 K) corresponds to the YbCrO4 oxide. A metamagnetic transition has been observed in all cases at critical fields ranging from 225 Oe (GdCrO4) to 1600 Oe (YbCrO4).  相似文献

Six new isostructural A2(Mo4Sb2O18) (A=Y, La, Nd, Sm, Gd and Dy) compounds have been synthesized by solid-state reactions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and spectroscopic techniques. They crystallize in C2/c space group with 4 formula units and contain A3+ cations and discrete centrosymmetric anionic (Mo4Sb2O18)6− aggregates, made of tetrahedral MoO4 and disphenoidal SbO4 moieties. They exhibit characteristic Sb3+ photoluminescence.  相似文献

The reaction of Lu3+ or Yb3+ and H5IO6 in aqueous media at 180 °C leads to the formation of Yb(IO3)3(H2O) or Lu(IO3)3(H2O), respectively, while the reaction of Yb metal with H5IO6 under similar reaction conditions gives rise to the anhydrous iodate, Yb(IO3)3. Under supercritical conditions Lu3+ reacts with HIO3 and KIO4 to yield the isostructural Lu(IO3)3. The structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Crystallographic data are (MoKα, λ=0.71073 Å): Yb(IO3)3, monoclinic, space group P21/n, a=8.6664(9) Å, b=5.9904(6) Å, c=14.8826(15) Å, β=96.931(2)°, V=766.99(13), Z=4, R(F)=4.23% for 114 parameters with 1880 reflections with I>2σ(I); Lu(IO3)3, monoclinic, space group P21/n, a=8.6410(9), b=5.9961(6), c=14.8782(16) Å, β=97.028(2)°, V=765.08(14), Z=4, R(F)=2.65% for 119 parameters with 1756 reflections with I>2σ(I); Yb(IO3)3(H2O), monoclinic, space group C2/c, a=27.2476(15), b=5.6296(3), c=12.0157(7) Å, β=98.636(1)°, V=1822.2(2), Z=8, R(F)=1.51% for 128 parameters with 2250 reflections with I>2σ(I); Lu(IO3)3(H2O), monoclinic, space group C2/c, a=27.258(4), b=5.6251(7), c=12.0006(16) Å, β=98.704(2)°, V=1818.8(4), Z=8, R(F)=1.98% for 128 parameters with 2242 reflections with I>2σ(I). The f elements in all of the compounds are found in seven-coordinate environments and bridged with monodentate, bidentate, or tridentate iodate anions. Both Lu(IO3)3(H2O) and Yb(IO3)3(H2O) display distinctively different vibrational profiles from their respective anhydrous analogs. Hence, the Raman profile can be used as a complementary diagnostic tool to discern the different structural motifs of the compounds.  相似文献

The new complex germanates RCrGeO5 (R=Nd-Er, Y) have been synthesized and investigated by means of X-ray powder diffraction, electron microscopy, magnetic susceptibility and specific heat measurements. All the compounds are isostructural and crystallize in the orthorhombic symmetry, space group Pbam, and Z=4. The crystal structure of RCrGeO5, as refined using X-ray powder diffraction data, includes infinite chains built by edge-sharing Cr+3O6 octahedra with two alternating Cr−Cr distances. The chains are combined into a three-dimensional framework by Ge2O8 groups consisting of two edge-linked square pyramids oriented in opposite directions. The resulting framework contains pentagonal channels where rare-earth elements are located. Thus, RCrGeO5 germanates present new examples of RMn2O5-type compounds and show ordering of Cr+3 and Ge+4 cations. Electron diffraction as well as high-resolution electron microscopy confirm the structure solution. Magnetic susceptibility data for R=Nd, Sm, and Eu are qualitatively consistent with the presence of isolated 3d (antiferromagnetically coupled Cr+3 cations) and 4f (R+3) spin subsystems in the RCrGeO5 compounds. NdCrGeO5 undergoes long-range magnetic ordering at 2.6 K, while SmCrGeO5 and EuCrGeO5 do not show any phase transitions down to 2 K.  相似文献

The La2W2−xMoxO9 series has been synthesized by the ceramic method. An alternative synthesis using microwave radiation is also reported. La2W2O9 has two polymorphs and the low-temperature phase (α) transforms to the high-temperature form (β) at 1077°C. The influence of the W/Mo substitution in this phase transition has been investigated by DTA. The β structure for x≥0.7 compositions can be prepared as single phase at any cooling rate. The β phase for 0.3≤x≤0.7 compounds can be prepared as single phase by quenching, whereas a mixture of α and β phases is obtained by slow cooling. The W/Mo ratio in both coexisting phases is different with the β-phase having a higher Mo content. The x=0.1 and 0.2 compounds have been prepared as mixtures of phases. The room temperature structure of β-La2W1.7Mo0.3O9 has been analyzed by the Rietveld method in P213 space group. The final R-factors were RWP=9.0% and RF=5.6% with a structure similar to that of β-La2Mo2O9. Finally, the thermal expansion of both types of structures has been determined from a thermodiffractometric study. The thermal expansion coefficients were 2.9×10−6 and 9.7×10−6°C−1 for α-La2W2O9 and β-La2W1.2Mo0.8O9, respectively.  相似文献

Reduction of MoO2Cl2(DMF)2 (DMF = dimethylformamide) with PPh3 in mild conditions afforded the dinuclear species Mo2O3Cl4(DMF)4. Related compounds could be prepared by substitution of DMF with stronger bases. While attempting to grow crystals of these compounds new complexes with the syn-[Mo2O4]2+ core were obtained. The molecular structures of Mo2O4Cl2(DMF)4, and Mo2O4Cl2(bipy)2 (bipy = 2,2′-bipyridine) have been established by X-ray diffraction analysis.  相似文献

Synthesis, structures, and magnetic properties of ternary rare earth oxides ALnO2 (A=Cu or Ag; Ln=rare earths) have been investigated. CuLnO2 (Ln=La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu) were synthesized by the direct solid state reaction of Cu2O and Ln2O3, and AgLnO2 (Ln=Tm, Yb, Lu) were obtained by the cation-exchange reaction of NaLnO2 and AgNO3 in a KNO3 flux. These compounds crystallized in the delafossite-type structure with the rhombohedral 3R type (space group: R-3m). Magnetic susceptibility measurements showed that these compounds are paramagnetic down to 1.8 K. Specific heat measurements down to 0.4 K indicated that CuNdO2 ordered antiferromagnetically at 0.8 K.  相似文献

The new rare earth metal (RE)-nickel-indides Dy5Ni2In4 and RE4Ni11In20 (RE=Gd, Tb, Dy) were synthesized from the elements by arc-melting. Well-shaped single crystals were obtained by special annealing sequences. The four indides were investigated by X-ray diffraction on powders and single crystals: Lu5Ni2In4 type, Pbam, Z=2, a=1784.2(8), b=787.7(3), c=359.9(1) pm, wR2=0.0458, 891 F2 values, 36 variables for Dy5Ni2In4, U4Ni11Ga20 type, C2/m, a=2254.0(9), b=433.8(3), c=1658.5(8) pm, β=124.59(2)°, wR2=0.0794, 2154 F2 values, 108 variables for Gd4Ni11In20, a=2249.9(8), b=432.2(1), c=1657.9(5) pm, β=124.59(2)°, wR2=0.0417, 2147 F2 values, 108 variables for Tb4Ni11In20, and a=2252.2(5), b=430.6(1), c=1659.7(5) pm, β=124.58(2)°, wR2=0.0550, 2003 F2 values, 109 variables for Dy4Ni10.80In20.20. The 2d site in the dysprosium compound shows mixed Ni/In occupancy. Most nickel atoms in both series of compounds exhibit trigonal prismatic coordination by indium and rare earth atoms. Additionally, in the RE4Ni11In20 compounds one observes one-dimensional nickel clusters (259 pm Ni1-Ni6 in Dy4Ni10.80In20.20) that are embedded in an indium matrix. While only one short In1-In2 contact at 324 pm is observed in Dy5Ni2In4, the more indium-rich Dy4Ni10.80In20.20 structure exhibits a broader range in In-In interactions (291-364 pm). Together the nickel and indium atoms build up polyanionic networks, a two-dimensional one in Dy5Ni2In4 and a complex three-dimensional network in Dy4Ni10.80In20.20. These features have a clear consequence on the dysprosium coordination, i.e. a variety of short Dy-Dy contacts (338-379 pm) in Dy5Ni2In4, while the dysprosium atoms are well separated (430 pm shortest Dy-Dy distance) within the distorted hexagonal channels of the [Ni10.80In20.20] polyanion of Dy4Ni10.80In20.20. The crystal chemistry of both structure types is comparatively discussed.  相似文献

The floating-zone furnace method was used to synthesize single crystals of the fluorite-related δ-Bi2O3-type phase Bi38Mo7O78 for the first time. Single crystal synchrotron X-ray diffraction data, in conjunction with ab initio (density functional theory) calculations, were used to solve, optimize, and refine the 5×3×3 commensurate superstructure of fluorite-type δ-Bi2O3 in Pbcn (a=28.7058(11) Å, b=16.8493(7) Å and c=16.9376(6) Å, Z=4, RF=11.26%, wRI=21.67%). The structure contains stepped channels of Mo6+ in tetrahedral environments along the b axis and chains of Mo6+ in octahedral environments along the ac plane. The role of the stepped channels in oxide ion conduction is discussed. The simultaneous presence of both tetrahedral and octahedral coordination environments for Mo6+, something not previously observed in Mo6+-doped δ-Bi2O3-type phases, is supported by charge balance considerations in addition to the results of crystallographic and ab initio analysis.  相似文献

The vanadium-molybdenum mixed oxide bronzes of composition K0.23(V5.35Mo0.65)O15 and K0.32(V5.48Mo0.52)O15 have a monoclinic structure with s.g. C2/m, Z=2, and unit-cell dimensions a=15.436(2), b=3.6527(5), c=10.150(1) Å, β=108.604(3)° and a=15.452(2), b=3.6502(5), c=10.142(1) Å, β=109.168(3)°, respectively, as determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. These compounds show the β-NaxV6O15 tunnel structure, which is isostructural with bannermanite, natural sodium-potassium vanadate. Structure refinements from diffracted intensities collected in the 2-38°θ range converged to final R=5.58% and 7.48% for the two crystals, respectively. The V atoms are distributed on three different crystallographic sites. Partial substitution of V with Mo occurs in only one of these positions. Oxygen atoms involved in vanadyl groups point toward the tunnels. The K ions in the tunnels are coordinated by seven oxygen atoms. The alkali metal content in these crystals is much lower than the solubility limit found for the analogous Na containing compound.  相似文献

The crystal structures of ternary compounds RPt3−xSi1−y(R=Y, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb) have been elucidated from X-ray single crystal CCD data. All compounds are isotypic and crystallize in the tetragonal space group P4/mbm. The general formula RPt3−xSi1−y arises from defects: x≈0.20, y≈0.14. The crystal structure of RPt3−xSi1−y can be considered as a packing of four types of building blocks which derive from the CePt3B-type unit cell by various degrees of distortion and Pt, Si-defects.  相似文献

The entire family of carefully oxygen-adjusted RBaCo2O5.5 or R2Ba2Co4O11 (R=Y, Ho-La) double-perovskite oxides is systematically investigated for the lattice parameters, A-site cation disorder, and characteristic physical properties, i.e. the metal-insulator transition, ferromagnetic transition and so-called metamagnetic transition. With increasing size of the R constituent, the lattice parameters start to deviate from the linear behavior, indicating partial oxygen/vacancy and A-site cation disorder for the largest Rs of Nd, Pr and La. Both the metal-insulator transition and the two magnetic transitions are found to be highly sensitive to even minor deviations from the ideal 5.5 oxygen stoichiometry, thus underlining the importance of proper oxygen-content adjustment.  相似文献

As part of the study of interaction of the Ba2RCu3O6+z (R=lanthanides and Y) superconductor with SrTiO3 buffer, phase equilibria of the subsystem, R2O3-TiO2-CuO (R=Nd, Y, and Yb), have been investigated in air at 960 °C. While the phase relationships of the two phase diagrams with smaller R (Y and Yb) are similar, substantial differences were found in the Nd2O3-TiO2-CuO system, partly due to different phase formation in the binary R2O3-TiO2 and R2O3-CuO systems. R2CuTiO6 and R2Cu9Ti12O36 were the only ternary phases established in all the three diagrams. R2Cu9Ti12O36 belongs to the perovskite-related [AC3](B4)O12 family which is cubic Im3. Depending on the size of R3+, R2CuTiO6 crystallizes in two crystal systems: Pnma (R=La-Gd), and P63cm (R=Dy-Lu). The structure and crystal chemistry of the Pnma series of R2CuTiO6 (R=La, Nd, Sm, Eu, and Gd) are discussed in detail in this paper. Patterns for selected members of R2CuTiO6 have also been prepared and submitted for inclusion in the Powder Diffraction File (PDF).  相似文献

An organic-inorganic hybrid compound, (Bu4N)2[Mo6O18(NAr)] (Ar = p-BrC6H4) has been synthesized via the DCC dehydrating protocol of the reaction of [α-Mo8O26]4− with 4-bromoaniline hydrochloride in anhydrous acetonitrile, which has been characterized by UV-Vis spectra, 1H NMR and single crystal X-ray diffraction study. By comparing the UV-Vis spectra, which were used to monitor the reaction, the optimum preparative condition for this compound was also determined. This compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21/n, which is featured in a terminal para-bromophenylimido group linked to an Mo atom of a hexamolybdate cluster by a Mo-N triply bond. In addition, there are π-π dimerization of the neighboring cluster anions though the parallel aromatic rings in their crystals.  相似文献

The single crystals of caesium magnesium titanium (IV) tri-oxo-tetrakis-diphosphate bis-monophosphate, Cs3.70Mg0.60Ti2.78(TiO)3(P2O7)4(PO4)2, crystallize in sp. gr. P-1 (No. 2) with cell parameters a=6.3245(4), b=9.5470(4), c=15.1892(9) Å, α=72.760(4), β=85.689(5), γ=73.717(4), z=1. The titled compound possesses a three-dimensional tunnel structure built by the corner-sharing of distorted [TiO6] octahedra, [Ti2O11] bioctahedra, [PO4] monophosphate and [P2O7] pyrophosphate groups. The Cs+ cations are located in the tunnels. The partial substitution of Ti positions with Mg atoms is observed. The negative charge of the framework is balanced by Cs cations and Mg atoms leading to pronounced concurrency and orientation disorder in the [P2O7] groups, which coordinate both.  相似文献
