Let X be one of the Banach spaces c 0 , ℓ p , 1≤p<∞; Ω⊂X pseudoconvex open, a holomorphic Banach vector bundle with a Banach Lie group G * for structure group. We show that a suitable Runge-type approximation hypothesis on X, G * (which we also prove for G * a solvable Lie group) implies the vanishing of the sheaf cohomology groups H q (Ω, 𝒪 E ), q≥1, with coefficients in the sheaf of germs of holomorphic sections of E. Further, letting 𝒪Γ (𝒞Γ) be the sheaf of germs of holomorphic (continuous) sections of a Banach Lie group bundle Γ→Ω with Banach Lie groups G, G * for fiber group and structure group, we show that a suitable Runge-type approximation hypothesis on X, G, G * (which we prove again for G, G * solvable Lie groups) implies the injectivity (and for X=ℓ1 also the surjectivity) of the Grauert–Oka map H 1 (Ω, 𝒪Γ)→H 1 (Ω, 𝒞Γ) of multiplicative cohomology sets. If P is a pleated plane in 3-dimensional hyperbolic space H 3 and α a geodesic in its intrinsic metric we define B(P,α), the average bending of P in the direction α. We show that if P is a convex pleated plane embedded in H 3 then B(P,α)≤K for some universal K. Furthermore if PΓ is a boundary component of the convex hull of a quasi-Fuchsian group Γ then B(PΓ,α)=B(Γ) almost everywhere, where B(Γ) is a constant times the length of the bending lamination βΓ of the pleated surface X Γ=PΓ/Γ. We use these to prove a number of results about quasi-Fuchsian groups including a universal bound on the Lipschitz constant for the map to infinity and a bound on the length of βΓ by a constant times the Euler characteristic of X Γ. A finitely presented group G is hyperbolic iff H (1) 1(G,ℝ)=0=(1) 2(G, ℝ), where H (1) * (resp. (1) *) denotes the ℓ1-homology (resp. reduced ℓ1-homology). If Γ is a graph, then every ℓ1 1-cycle in Γ with real coefficients can be approximated by 1-cycles of compact support. A 1-relator group G is hyperbolic iff H (1) 1(G,ℝ)=0. Let Γ ⊂ ℝd be a bounded strictly convex surface. We prove that the number kn(Γ) of points of Γ that lie on the lattice satisfies the following estimates: lim inf kn(Γ)/nd−2 < ∞ for d ≥ 3 and lim inf kn(Γ)/log n < ∞ for d = 2. Let X be a proper hyperbolic geodesic metric space and let G be a closed subgroup of the isometry group Iso(X) of X. We show that if G is not elementary then for every p ∈ (1, ∞) the second continuous bounded cohomology group H2cb(G, Lp(G)) does not vanish. As an application, we derive some structure results for closed subgroups of Iso(X). Partially supported by Sonderforschungsbereich 611.  相似文献

LetG be a connected complex semisimple Lie group. Let Γ be a cocompact lattice inG. In this paper, we show that whenG isSL 2(C), nontrivial deformations of the canonical complex structure onX exist if and only if the first Betti number of the lattice Γ is non-zero. It may be remarked that for a wide class of arithmetic groups Γ, one can find a subgroup Γ′ of finite index in Γ, such that Γ′/[Γ′,Γ′] is finite (it is a conjecture of Thurston that this is true for all cocompact lattices inSL(2, C)). We also show thatG acts trivially on the coherent cohomology groupsH i(Γ/G, O) for anyi≥0.  相似文献

We prove the boundedness of the maximal operator Mr in the spaces L^p(·)(Г,p) with variable exponent p(t) and power weight p on an arbitrary Carleson curve under the assumption that p(t) satisfies the log-condition on Г. We prove also weighted Sobolev type L^p(·)(Г, p) → L^q(·)(Г, p)-theorem for potential operators on Carleson curves.  相似文献

If a finite group G acts on a quasi-projective variety X, then H*c(X,Z/n), the étale cohomology with compact support of X with coefficients inZ/n, has aZ/n[G]-module structure. It is well known that there is a finer invariant, an object RΓc(X,Z/n) of the derived category ofZ/n[G]-modules, whose cohomology is H*c(X,Z/n). We show that there is a finer invariant still, a bounded complex Λc(X,Z/n) of direct summands of permutationZ/n[G]-modules, well-defined up to chain homotopy equivalence, which is isomorphic to RΓc(X,Z/n) in the derived category. This complex has many properties analogous to those of the simplicial chain complex of a simplicial complex with a group action. There are similar results forl-adic cohomology.  相似文献

Let Γ denote a distance-regular graph with diameter d≥3. By a parallelogram of length 3, we mean a 4-tuple xyzw consisting of vertices of Γ such that (x,y)=(z,w)=1, (x,z)=3, and (x,w)=(y,w)=(y,z)=2, where denotes the path-length distance function. Assume that Γ has intersection numbers a 1=0 and a 2≠0. We prove that the following (i) and (ii) are equivalent. (i) Γ is Q-polynomial and contains no parallelograms of length 3; (ii) Γ has classical parameters (d,b,α,β) with b<−1. Furthermore, suppose that (i) and (ii) hold. We show that each of b(b+1)2(b+2)/c 2, (b−2)(b−1)b(b+1)/(2+2bc 2) is an integer and that c 2b(b+1). This upper bound for c 2 is optimal, since the Hermitian forms graph Her2(d) is a triangle-free distance-regular graph that satisfies c 2=b(b+1). We study strictly G-convex renormings and extensions of strictly G-convex norms on Banach spaces. We prove that ℓω(Γ) space cannot be strictly G-convex renormed given Γ is uncountable and G is bounded and separable.  相似文献

We prove that the functionals of a d-dimensional Brownian process are Hida distributions, i.e., generalized Wiener functionals. Here, δΓ(·) is a generalization of the δ-function constructed on a bounded closed smooth surface Γ⊂R d , k≥1 and acting on finite continuous functions φ(·) in R d according to the rule where ι(·) is a surface measure on Γ.  相似文献

Let G be a compact nonmetrizable topological group whose local weight b(G) has uncountable cofinality. Let H be an amenable locally compact group, A(G×H) the Fourier algebra of G×H, and UC2(G×H) the space of uniformly continuous functionals in VN(G×H)=A(G×H). We use weak factorization of operators in the group von Neumann algebra VN(G×H) to prove that there exist at least 2b(G)2 left ideals of dimensions at least 2b(G)2 in A(G×H)∗∗ and in UC2(G×H). We show that every nontrivial right ideal in A(G×H)∗∗ and in UC2(G×H) has dimension at least 2b(G)2.  相似文献

For a given bi-continuous semigroup (T(t)) t⩾0 on a Banach space X we define its adjoint on an appropriate closed subspace X° of the norm dual X′. Under some abstract conditions this adjoint semigroup is again bi-continuous with respect to the weak topology σ(X°,X). We give the following application: For Ω a Polish space we consider operator semigroups on the space Cb(Ω) of bounded, continuous functions (endowed with the compact-open topology) and on the space M(Ω) of bounded Baire measures (endowed with the weak*-topology). We show that bi-continuous semigroups on M(Ω) are precisely those that are adjoints of bi-continuous semigroups on Cb(Ω). We also prove that the class of bi-continuous semigroups on Cb(ω) with respect to the compact-open topology coincides with the class of equicontinuous semigroups with respect to the strict topology. In general, if is not a Polish space this is not the case.  相似文献

We prove a “unique crossed product decomposition” result for group measure space II1 factors L (X)⋊Γ arising from arbitrary free ergodic probability measure preserving (p.m.p.) actions of groups Γ in a fairly large family G\mathcal{G}, which contains all free products of a Kazhdan group and a non-trivial group, as well as certain amalgamated free products over an amenable subgroup. We deduce that if T n denotes the group of upper triangular matrices in PSL (n,ℤ), then any free, mixing p.m.p. action of G = \operatornamePSL(n,\mathbbZ)*Tn\operatornamePSL(n,\mathbbZ)\Gamma=\operatorname{PSL}(n,\mathbb{Z})*_{T_{n}}\operatorname{PSL}(n,\mathbb{Z}) is W-superrigid, i.e. any isomorphism between L (X)⋊Γ and an arbitrary group measure space factor L (Y)⋊Λ, comes from a conjugacy of the actions. We also prove that for many groups Γ in the family G\mathcal{G}, the Bernoulli actions of Γ are W-superrigid.  相似文献

It is proved that the singular partH b 2/(2) (G) of the second group of bounded homology of the discrete groupG is isomorphic to the space of 2-cocycles that vanish on the diagonal. For groupsG representable as HNN-extensions or free products with amalgamation, as well as for groupsG with one defining relation, conditions for the infinite-dimensionality ofH b 2/(2) (G) are found. Some applications of bounded cohomology to the width problem for verbal subgroups and to the boundedness problem for group presentations are indicated. Cusp forms
LetG andHG be two real semisimple groups defined overQ. Assume thatH is the group of points fixed by an involution ofG. LetπL 2(H\G) be an irreducible representation ofG and letf επ be aK-finite function. Let Γ be an arithmetic subgroup ofG. The Poincaré seriesP f(g)=ΣH∩ΓΓ f(γ{}itg) is an automorphic form on Γ\G. We show thatP f is cuspidal in some cases, whenH ∩Γ\H is compact. Partially supported by NSF Grant # DMS 9103608.  相似文献

Let (G, I, N, S) be an affine topological Tits system, and let Γ be a torsion-free cocompact lattice in G. This article studies the coinvariants H 0(Γ; C(Ω,Z)), where Ω is the Furstenberg boundary of G. It is shown that the class [1] of the identity function in H 0(Γ; C(Ω, Z)) has finite order, with explicit bounds for the order. A similar statement applies to the K 0 group of the boundary crossed product C *-algebra C(Ω)Γ. If the Tits system has type ? 2, exact computations are given, both for the crossed product algebra and for the reduced group C *-algebra.  相似文献

In this article we study the (small) Hankel operator hb on the Hardy and Bergman spaces on a smoothly bounded convex domain of finite type in ℂn. We completely characterize the Hankel operators hb that are bounded, compact, and belong to the Schatten ideal Sp, for 0 < p < ∞. In particular, if hb denotes the Hankel operator on the Hardy space H2 (Ω), we prove that hb is bounded if and only if b ∈ BMOA, compact if and only if b ∈ VMOA, and in the Schatten class if and only if b ∈e Bp, 0 < p < ∞. This last result extends the analog theorem in the case of the unit disc of Peller [19] and Semmes [21]. In order to characterize the bounded Hankel operators, we prove a factorization theorem for functions in H1 (Ω), a result that is of independent interest.  相似文献

Straightening and bounded cohomology of hyperbolic groups   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
It was stated by M. Gromov [Gr2] that, for any hyperbolic group G, the map from bounded cohomology Hnb(G,\Bbb R) H^n_b(G,{\Bbb R}) to Hn(G,\Bbb R) H^n(G,{\Bbb R}) induced by inclusion is surjective for n 3 2 n \ge 2 . We introduce a homological analogue of straightening simplices, which works for any hyperbolic group. This implies that the map Hnb(G,V) ? Hn(G,V) H^n_b(G,V) \to H^n(G,V) is surjective for n 3 2 n \ge 2 when V is any bounded \Bbb QG {\Bbb Q}G -module and when V is any finitely generated abelian group.  相似文献
