Investigation has been performed for the characteristics of the fiber ring laser incorporating an intracavity unpumped Er-doped fiber Sagnac loop for narrow linewidth continuous wave (CW) and gain-switched pulsed operation. The gain-switched pulse has duty cycle of 4.4% with more than 113 mW in peak power at the reflective optical filter output and the laser was stable both in output power and the peak wavelength.  相似文献

A Tm–Ho codoped fiber amplifier system is built. And, amplification of a gain-switched Tm–Ho codoped fiber laser is investigated. Average output of 300 mW is obtained at repetition rate of tens of kHz with an amplification gain bigger than 11 dB. And, pulse amplification efficiency of resonantly pumped Tm–Ho codoped single clad fiber is comparable with 793 nm pumped Tm-doped double clad fiber. The maximal pulse energy generated is about 13.1 μJ, corresponding to a peak power of 282 W at 20 kHz. During the amplification process, gain-switching, partially modulated gain-switched mode-locking and 100% modulated gain-switched mode-locking are observed sequentially. At gain-switching mode, the laser output enjoys a narrow linewidth of 0.31 nm, while at gain-switched mode-locking mode, the spectral linewidth broadens to 0.6 nm.  相似文献

We build a Tm-doped fiber amplifier based on a gain-switched seed laser. At Er-doped fiber-laser pumping, the maximum peak power of the gain-switched seed pulse is 227.7 W with a pulse duration of 48.3 ns. In the amplifier, peak power of the amplified pulse reaches 1.1 kW with a 3 dB linewidth of 0.06 nm. Supercontinuum generation is observed when this amplified pulsed laser source is injected into a section of 7 m long Tm-doped double-clad fiber.  相似文献

A numerical model that describes the operation behaviors and output characteristics of stable gain-switched Tm-doped fiber (Tm:fiber) lasers resonantly pumped at 1.56 mm is presented in this paper. Effects of some important laser parameters, such as repetition rates, pump power levels, transmission of the laser output coupler, fiber core sizes, fiber lengths, Tm concentrations, etc., on laser output were investigated. The model and simulating results were verified by preliminary experiments and good agreements have been achieved, suggesting that the model are useful for design and optimization of stable gain-switched Tm:fiber lasers at 2 mm wavelength region.  相似文献

以波长为975 nm的半导体激光器作为泵浦源,周期性地脉冲泵浦一个包含Yb掺杂光纤和光纤光栅对的Yb光纤激光器,实现了基于增益调制技术的全光纤化高功率Yb光纤激光器的稳定脉冲输出.在50 kHz重频下,采用20 W的泵浦功率和2.4 μs的泵浦脉冲宽度,获得了1 060 nm波长脉冲宽度仅100 ns的稳定脉冲激光输出,单脉冲激光能量约为20 μJ.以此作为脉冲激光种子进行功率放大,获得了性能稳定的全光纤结构高功率脉冲激光输出,放大后单脉冲能量超过200 μJ,激光放大器斜率效率达到60%.  相似文献

A diode-pumped Q-switched Tm-doped double-clad fluoride fiber laser is reported providing up to 90 microJ pulse energy (160 ns, 100 kHz, i.e., 9 W of average power). The dependence of the fiber laser's repetition rate on pump power and modulator repetition rate was investigated. By amplification even higher pulse energies of 410 microJ could be generated. In a second stage of the setup the Q-switched fiber laser serves as a pump for a gain-switched tunable Cr2+:ZnSe laser. The pulse energies reported are to the author's knowledge the highest generated by Tm-doped fluoride fiber lasers or amplifiers today.  相似文献

利用半导体激光器的单模速率方程及超短光脉冲在光纤中传输的非线性薛定谔(NLS)方程,从理论及实验上研究了增益开关DFB半导体激光器出射的啁啾光脉冲在色散补偿光纤(DCF)及色散位移光纤(DSF)中的压缩过程与规律.实验上,从1.55μm增益开关DFB半导体激光器出射的重复频率为2.5GHz、脉冲宽度为53.8ps的光脉冲经色散补偿光纤压缩至12ps,而后利用色散位移光纤中的高阶孤子压缩效应将脉冲压缩至2.5ps.改变色散位移光纤参数及入射光功率后获得最窄光脉冲宽度为2.1ps.理论与实验结果符合. 关键词:  相似文献

We demonstrate the generation of nanosecond and multikilowatt peak-power pulses in a double-clad Yb-doped fiber amplifier seeded by a spectrally narrowed gain-switched laser diode. Injected pulses with 100 ns duration were simultaneously compressed and amplified by the combination of high amplifier gain and stimulated Brillouin scattering. A maximum peak power of 20 kW has been obtained, corresponding to a single-pass gain of +57 dB in terms of peak power. Part of this output signal was also converted into IR continuum light by splicing a length of single-mode fiber at the end of the fiber amplifier.  相似文献

采用脉冲泵浦方案,研制出了基于增益调制技术的全光纤结构高重频脉冲激光器。采用电路直接调制的激光二极管作为泵浦源,双包层光纤作为增益介质,构造了光纤光栅选模的线形腔结构。实验中通过调整泵浦光脉冲宽度和光纤激光器谐振腔长度,得到了稳定的高重频脉冲。在100kHz重复频率下,采用21W的峰值泵浦功率和2.5μs的泵浦脉冲宽度,获得了1.06μm波长,脉冲宽度247ns的稳定脉冲激光输出。脉冲峰值功率一致性好,平均功率长期功率稳定性为2%。观察并分析了由于纵模拍频在脉冲包络上产生的次脉冲特性。通过一级放大实现89.6 W输出。  相似文献

Visible and near-infrared laser light pulses were coupled into two different types of optical fiber cavities. One cavity consisted of a short strand of fiber waveguide that contained two identical fiber Bragg gratings. Another cavity was made using a loop of optical fiber. In either cavity ∼40 ps laser pulses, which were generated using a custom-built gain-switched diode laser, circulated for a large number of round trips. The optical loss of either cavity was determined from the ring-down times. Cavity ring-down spectroscopy was performed on 200 pL volumes of liquid samples that were injected into the cavities using a 100 μm gap in the fiber loop. A detection limit of 20 ppm of methylene blue dye in aqueous solution, corresponding to a minimum absorptivity of εC<6 cm-1, was realized. PACS 42.62.Fi; 42.81.-i  相似文献

We report on the operation and performance of a gain-switched Er:ZBLAN fiber laser based on an active pulsed diode pump system. The produced laser pulses offer high peak powers while retaining the high average powers and efficiency of the cw regime. The measured pulse duration was about 300 ns and nearly independent of the pump repetition frequency. The maximum obtained 68 W of peak power is the highest reported, to our knowledge, for diode-pumped Er:ZBLAN fiber lasers, and the 2 W of average power at the repetition frequency of 100 kHz is 2 orders of magnitude higher than previously reported average power in a pulsed regime. The supercontinuum (SC) generation in conventional dispersion-shifted fiber (DSF) at the repetition rate of 10 GHz with a three-stage compressed gain-switched distributed feedback (DFB) laser as pump source was demonstrated. A novel SC pulse source with a bandwidth up to 120 nm was obtained. At the same time, the stable, narrow pulses with pulsewidth of 9.2 ps and time-bandwidth product of 0.46 were filtered out across the whole SC bandwidth.  相似文献

A 64 W fiber laser at 1.9 microm with a slope efficiency of 68% with respect to the launching pump power at 800 nm was demonstrated in a one-end pump configuration using a piece of 20 cm long newly developed thulium-doped germanate glass double-cladding single-mode fiber. A quantum efficiency of 1.8 was achieved. An output laser power of 104 W at 1.9 microm was demonstrated from a piece of 40 cm long fiber with a dual-end pump configuration.  相似文献

A novel method is proposed that simultaneously eliminates chirp and compresses pulses from gain-switched distributed-feedback Bragg (G-S DFB) semiconductor laser employing chirped fiber Bragg grating (FBG) with narrow bandwidth. It is demonstrated that with this method, only the central frequency of the FBG is slightly shifted from the central frequency of the G-S DFB laser; the nearly transform-limited narrow pulse with symmetrical waveform can be obtained.  相似文献

The operation of a diode-pumped Tm-doped silica fiber laser that uses the cladding-pumping arrangement to produce high-power cw output at wavelengths near 2 microm is reported. We obtained a maximum output power of 5.4 W at a slope efficiency of 31% with respect to the launched pump power at a total optical-to-optical efficiency of 22%. The fiber-laser output wavelength was tuned between 1.880 and 2.033 microm by adjustment of the fiber length, with >4W of power obtainable from 1.94 to 2.01 microm. Self-pulsations detected in the output from the double-clad fiber laser may indicate the presence of ion-clustering effects.  相似文献

根据超短光脉冲在光纤中传输的非线性薛定谔方程,模拟了不同色散参量情况下色散补偿和色散位移光纤对增益开关半导体激光器产生的光脉冲的压缩,给出了光脉冲在经过色散补偿光纤前后的啁啾曲线。结果表明,使用色散参量D分别为-150,-180和-20ps/(nm·km)的色散补偿光纤可以实现其他脉冲压缩方法的压缩效果,最大压缩因子达到6.09,但色散参量越大,所需光纤长度就越短。此外,脉冲经过色散补偿光纤后线性啁啾几乎为零。还利用色散位移光纤对脉冲进行孤子压缩,脉冲宽度由最初的45ps减小到1.23ps。指出采用这2种光纤相结合的方法可以对光脉冲实现高效压缩。  相似文献

We experimentally demonstrate the simultaneous generation of tunable multi-wavelength picosecond laser pulses using a self-seeding configuration that consists of a gain-switched Fabry-Perot laser diode (FPLD) with an external cavity formed by a tilted multimode fiber Bragg grating.Dualand triple-wavelength pulses are obtained and tuned in a flexible manner by changing the temperature of the FPLD.The side mode suppression ratio larger than 25 dB is achieved at different dualand triple-wavelengths and the typical pulsewidth of the output pulses is ~70 ps.In the experiment,the wavelength separation can be narrowed to 0.57 nm.  相似文献
