Double-polarization asymmetries for inclusive ep scattering were measured at Jefferson Lab using 2.6 and 4.3 GeV longitudinally polarized electrons incident on a longitudinally polarized NH3 target in the CLAS detector. The polarized structure function g(1)(x,Q2) was extracted throughout the nucleon resonance region and into the deep inelastic regime, for Q(2)=0.15-1.64 GeV2. The contributions to the first moment Gamma(1)(Q2)= integral g(1)(x,Q2) dx were determined up to Q(2)=1.2 GeV2. Using a parametrization for g(1) in the unmeasured low x regions, the complete first moment was estimated over this Q2 region. A rapid change in Gamma(1) is observed for Q2<1 GeV2, with a sign change near Q(2)=0.3 GeV2, indicating dominant contributions from the resonance region. At Q(2)=1.2 GeV2 our data are below the perturbative QCD evolved scaling value.  相似文献

We report the results of a search for a narrow resonance in electron-positron events in the invariant mass range of 150-950 GeV/c(2) using 1.3 fb(-1) of pp[over] collision data at square root s = 1.96 TeV collected by the CDF II detector at Fermilab. No significant evidence of such a resonance is observed and we interpret the results to exclude the standard-model-like Z' with a mass below 923 GeV/c(2) and the Randall-Sundrum graviton with a mass below 807 GeV/c(2) for k/M[over](pl) = 0.1, both at the 95% confidence level. Combining with diphoton data excludes the Randall-Sundrum graviton for masses below 889 GeV/c(2) for k/M[over](pl) = 0.1.  相似文献

The cross section for e(+)e(-)-->pi(+)pi(-)J/psi between 3.8 and 5.5 GeV/c(2) is measured using a 548 fb(-1) data sample collected on or near the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at KEKB. A peak near 4.25 GeV/c(2), corresponding to the so called Y(4260), is observed. In addition, there is another cluster of events at around 4.05 GeV/c(2). A fit using two interfering Breit-Wigner shapes describes the data better than one that uses only the Y(4260), especially for the lower-mass side of the 4.25 GeV enhancement.  相似文献

A Regge model with absorptive corrections is employed in a global analysis of the world data on positive and negative pion photoproduction for photon energies from 3 to 8GeV. In this region resonance contributions are expected to be negligible so that the available experimental information on differential cross-sections and single polarization observables at - t ⩽ 2 GeV^2 allows us to determine the non-resonant part of the reaction amplitude reliably. The model amplitude is then used to predict observables for photon energies below 3GeV. Differences between our predictions and data in this energy region are systematically examined as possible signals for the presence of excited baryons. We find that the data available for the polarized photon asymmetry show promising resonance signatures at invariant energies around 2GeV. With regard to differential cross-sections the analysis of negative pion photoproduction data, obtained recently at JLab, indicates likewise the presence of resonance structures around 2GeV.  相似文献

The double spin asymmetry in the (-->)e(-->)p --> e(prime)pi(+)n reaction has been measured for the first time in the resonance region for four-momentum transfer Q2 = 0.35-1.5 GeV(2). Data were taken at Jefferson Lab with the CLAS detector using a 2.6 GeV polarized electron beam incident on a polarized solid NH3 target. Comparison with predictions of phenomenological models shows strong sensitivity to resonance contributions. Helicity-1/2 transitions are found to be dominant in the second and third resonance regions. The measured asymmetry is consistent with a faster rise with Q(2) of the helicity asymmetry A1 for the F(15)(1680) resonance than expected from the analysis of the unpolarized data.  相似文献

New data of the electroexcitation cross section on protons and deuterons in the resonance region are compared with the results in the deep inelastic region for four-momentum transfers q2 ? 1.5 (GeV/c)2. The Bloom-Gilman sum rule is shown to hold for q2 ? 1.2 (GeV/c) while the Rittenberg-Rubinstein sum rule is saturated for q2 ? 0.4 (GeV/c)2. It is shown that the sum rules do not saturate in a local way.  相似文献

We discuss about the nature of f0(400-1200) which we decompose into three parts, i.e., t-channel ρ meson and f2(1270) meson exchange plus an additional s-channel resonance f0(X). Below 1.2GeV of ππ invariant mass, t-channel ρ meson exchange can explain the I=2 ππ S-wave scattering very well. However, the f2(1270) meson exchange must be considered for the ππ invariant mass above 1.2GeV. With the t-channel ρ meson and f2(1270) meson exchange fixed by the isotensor ππ→ππ S-wave scattering, we re-fit the CERN-Mülich(CM) data on ππ scattering to get parameters for the f0(X). We find that it is necessary to introduce a broad 0++ resonance with a pole about 1.6-1.7GeV.  相似文献

We present new data on the reaction K+d → K+π?p(p), at 5.44 GeV/c. This reaction is dominated by absorbed pion exchange and we have used the data to study K+π? scattering between 0.7 and 2 GeV/c2. We find the I=12 s-wave Kπ phase shift increases approximately linearly with mass up to 1.45 GeV/c2, and have evidence for a more rapid variation of the s-wave amplitude in the region of 1.5 GeV/c2. The so-called “up” branches in the region of the K1(890) and K1(1400) are excluded, save for the possibility of narrow s-wave resonances of width <10 MeV/c2. We have explained quantitatively every aspect of the data up to 2 GeV/c2 with s-, p-, d- and f-waves, finding an f-wave resonance at a mass of ≈1.76 GeV/c2 and with a width ≈300 MeV/c2. We have obtained new resonance parameters for the K1(1400) which differ substantially from the currently accepted values.  相似文献

A newly obtained sample of inclusive electron-nucleon scattering data has been analyzed for precision tests of quark-hadron duality. The data are in the nucleon resonance region, and span the range 0. 3相似文献

We present a search for a new narrow, spin-1, high mass resonance decaying to μ(+)μ?+X, using a matrix-element-based likelihood and a simultaneous measurement of the resonance mass and production rate. In data with 4.6 fb?1 of integrated luminosity collected by the CDF detector in pp collisions at √s=1960 GeV, the most likely signal cross section is consistent with zero at 16% confidence level. We therefore do not observe evidence for a high mass resonance and place limits on models predicting spin-1 resonances, including M>1071 GeV/c2 at 95% confidence level for a Z' boson with the same couplings to fermions as the Z boson.  相似文献

The first measurements of the transferred polarization for the exclusive e-->p-->e(')K+Lambda--> reaction have been performed at Jefferson Laboratory using the CLAS spectrometer. A 2.567 GeV beam was used to measure the hyperon polarization over Q2 from 0.3 to 1.5 (GeV/c)(2), W from 1.6 to 2.15 GeV, and over the full K+ center-of-mass angular range. Comparison with predictions of hadrodynamic models indicates strong sensitivity to the underlying resonance contributions. A nonrelativistic quark-model interpretation of our data suggests that the ssmacr; quark pair is produced with spins predominantly antialigned. Implications for the validity of the most widely used quark-pair creation operator are discussed.  相似文献

The two photon cascade decay of the 3.7 GeV resonance into the 3.1 GeV resonance has been observed in two nearly independent experiments. The clustering of the photon energies around 160 MeV and 420 MeV observed in the channel 3.7 → (3.1 → μ+μ?) + γγ indicates the existence of at least one intermediate state with even charge conjugation at a mass around 3.52 GeV or 3.26 GeV.  相似文献

We present differential cross-sections for the electro-production of single charged pions from deuterium for a virtual photon mass squared ?1.0 GeV2 and for pion nucleon masses in the range 1.23–1.68 GeV (the 1st and 2nd resonance regions). The data are compared with predictions from fits to hydrogen data.  相似文献

The kinematic reconstruction of neutral current high Q 2 events at HERA is discussed in detail using as an example the recently published events of the H1 and ZEUS collaborations at Q 2 > 15000 GeV2 and M > 180 GeV, which are more numerous than expected from Standard Model predictions. Taking into account the complete information of these events, the mass reconstruction is improved and the difference between the average mass of the samples of the two experiments is reduced from 26±10 GeV to 17±7 GeV, but remains different enough to render unlikely an interpretation of the excess observed by the two collaborations as originating from the decay of a single narrow resonance.  相似文献

We have studied the excitation function of the reaction 2H(π±, p)X at a fixed proton angle of 90° for several fixed proton momenta of the detected proton as a function of the incident pion energy. No signal was found for a previous candidate for a dibaryon resonance around a mass of 2.23 GeV. The general trend of the data is reproduced by a multiple scattering theory  相似文献

The pion-nucleon forward scattering amplitude has been calculated from new data of the total cross sections, using several assumptions on the energy dependence above 20 GeV. The results are presented as complex diagrams of the forward amplitude, which are of interest for the discussion of the nucleonic resonances and the non-resonant background scattering. In addition the predictions for the elastic forward cross sections are given as well as the contributions of the real parts to this quantity. A comparison with the new Saclay data of the charge exchange forward cross section leads to the estimate αρ≈0.6, if a Regge behaviour is assumed above 20 GeV. There are indications in favour of a new\(T = \tfrac{1}{2}\) resonance at the total c.m. energyW≈2.8 GeV.  相似文献

A search for narrow resonances that decay into tt pairs has been performed using 130 pb(-1) of data in the lepton + jets channel collected by the Dphi detector in pp collisions at square root of (s)=1.8 TeV. There is no significant deviation observed from the standard-model predictions at a top-quark mass of 175 GeV/c2. We therefore present upper limits at the 95% confidence level on the product of the production cross section and branching fraction to tt for narrow resonances as a function of the resonance mass MX. These limits are used to exclude the existence of a leptophobic top-color particle with mass MX<560 GeV/c2, using a theoretical cross section for a width GammaX=0.012MX.  相似文献

We report the observation of the radiative decay B+-->K1(1270)(+) gamma using a data sample of 140 fb(-1) taken at the Upsilon(4S) resonance with the Belle detector at the KEKB e+e- collider. We find the branching fraction to be B(B+-->K1(1270)(+)gamma)=(4.3+/-0.9(stat.)+/-0.9(syst.))x10(-5) with a significance of 7.3sigma. We find no significant signal for B+-->K1(1400)(+)gamma and set an upper limit B(B+-->K1(1400)(+)gamma)<1.5 x 10(-5) at the 90% confidence level. We also measure inclusive branching fractions for B+-->K+pi+pi-gamma and B0-->K0pi+pi-gamma in the mass range 1 GeV/c(2)相似文献
