This paper presents the experimental results of a study on the thermal effects due to pulsed optical pumping in ED2 Nd glass rods, cladded with samarium glass, and in Q88 Nd phosphate glass laser rods. A pseudo-elliptic close-coupled pumping cavity, very efficient and simple to be made has been used; this entails two types of rod deformations which in turn are responsible of two optical effects: a focusing effect and a prismatic effect. The time evolution of these effects under single shot condition and at low repetition rate (1 pulse every 5 s) is described. At single shot the behaviour is opposite to that previously reported in the literature. 相似文献

介绍了一种新型阵列口径的固体片状激光器的设计及初步实验,研究了其激光输出特性。激光器采用2×1阵列的以布儒斯特角放置的片状Nd:YAG激光头模块,并采用氙灯泵浦方式,由平均功率为60 kW电池组电源供电;电源采用大电流恒流放电,对输出放电进行可编程控制。实验得到32 J的单脉冲输出,小信号增益系数为0.047 5 cm-1;泵浦单脉冲运行,脉宽为1~5 ms时,输出能量呈线性增长;当重复频率为20 Hz时,5 ms脉宽比1 ms脉宽输出功率下降30%,其原因是布儒斯特角结构存在时,由热应力引起的热致双折射损耗造成输出下降。 相似文献

A high power laser system delivering a 20-TW, 0.5-0.8 ps ultra-short laser pulse and a 20-J, 500-ps long pulse simultaneously in one shot is completed. This two-beam laser operates at the wavelength of 1053 nm and uses Nd doped glass as the gain media of the main amplification chain. The chirped-pulse amplification (CPA) technology is used to compress the stretched laser pulse. After compression, the ultra-short laser pulse is measured: energy above 16.0 J, S/N contrast ratio-10~5 : 1, filling factor->52.7%. Another long pulse beam is a non-compressed chirped laser pulse, which is measured: energy-20 J, pulse duration 500 ps. The two beams are directed onto the target surface at an angle of 15°. 相似文献

We have developed an all-solid-state master-oscillator-power-amplifier system employing Ce:LiCAF, a new degradation-free tunable ultraviolet laser medium pumped by the fourth harmonic of conventional 10-ns Q -switched Nd:YAG lasers. The low- Q , short-cavity Ce:LiCAF master oscillator produced a satellite-free 1-ns pulse under appropriate pumping-fluence control. 18% energy extraction with sufficient gain was achieved in a single-stage, confocal, double-pass amplifier. As a result, 289-nm, 1-ns, 14-mJ pulses were efficiently obtained from this simple laser system. 相似文献

We report on optical parametric oscillators (OPO's) based on periodically poled RbTiOAsO(4) (PP RTA), which are pumped by Q -switched solid-state lasers. With a diode-pumped Nd:YVO(4) laser (pulse energy, 800microJ ; pulse duration, 5.5 ns; repetition rate, 1 kHz) the PP RTA OPO generated 1.58-microm signal and 3.26-microm idler radiation with a signal pulse energy of 45microJ . The large aperture of 3 mmx3 mm of the PP RTA crystal also permitted OPO operation with pump pulse energies as high as 65 mJ, provided by a flash-lamp-pumped Q -switched Nd:YAG laser (pulse duration, 20 ns; repetition rate, 10 Hz). With this pump source the OPO generated signal pulse energies as high as 17 mJ, corresponding to an efficiency of 26%. The performance of this OPO shows that large-aperture PP RTA crystals are well suited for pulsed nanosecond OPO operation with pump pulse energies of tens of millijoules. 相似文献

A background-free measurement of an individual pulse of a passively mode-locked Nd: glass laser during one laser shot has been performed using a crystal of LiIO3. The method is based on the non-collinearly generated second harmonic intensity spatial distribution measurement. The time resolution was better than 0.1 ps. The method can be successfully used for picosecond pulse measurement of any laser source over a wide wavelength region. 相似文献

A diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser passively Q switched with GaAs is studied theoretically and experimentally. We have demonstrated the influence of single-photon absorption, two-photon absorption and free-carrier absorption in GaAs on the Q-switched pulse characteristics. The pulse profile, pulse energy and pulse width of the Q switching with GaAs are simulated by using the conventional rate equations of the four-level laser system. The experimental results show reasonable agreement with the theoretical results on the whole. 相似文献

Pulse-timing effects in the far field of a passively Q -switched microchip laser that are caused by the changing cavity mode during pulse emission are described. Measurements are performed on a passively Q -switched Nd:YAG laser that produces 3-ns pulses, and delays in pulse arrival times of up to ~270 ps are observed between the center and the off-axis position. The measured data agree well with a simple analytical model. Pulse delays of this order are important, for instance, in high-precision range-finding applications. 相似文献

We demonstrate a high-power passively Q -switched and mode-locked Nd:YVO(4) laser with a Cr(4+):YAG saturable absorber. 2.7 W of average power with an 18-kHz Q -switched repetition rate was generated at a 12.5-W pump power. A passive, Q-switched pulsed, Nd:YAG laser system was designed and built, which can provide a potential compact robust laser source for portable laser induced breakdown spectroscopy systems.The developed laser system operates at 1064 nm. Each laser shot contains a train of pulses having maximum total output energy of 170 mJ. The number of pulses varies from 1–6 pulses in each laser shot depending on the pump energy. The pulse width of each pulse ranges from 20 to 30 ns. The total duration of the output pulse train is within 300 μs. The multi-pulse nature of the laser shots was employed to enhance the LIBS signal. To validate the system, LIBS measurements and analysis were performed on ancient ceramic samples collected from Al-Fustat excavation in Old Cairo. The samples belong to different Islamic periods in Egypt history. The results obtained are highly indicative that useful information can be provided to archeologists for use in restoring and repairing of precious archeological objects. 相似文献

As a passive Q-switcher, it has several excellent properties, such as low saturation fluence, high damage threshold, good thermal conductivity, no degradation and so on. By using a laser-diode as pumping source and Cr4+ :YAG as passive Q switcher, the passive Q-switching run in Nd: Sr5(VO4)3F laser at 1. 065 μm is realized. The average output power, the single pulse energy, the pulse width and the repetition rate for different small-signal transmission of Cr4+:YAG and different pumping power were measured. It has been shown that the generation of the 1st Stokes component (λ = 1.538 μm) in an Nd:KGW laser with a passive V:YAG Q Q -switch is multimodal and its dynamics have a complex spatio-temporal character. The SRS-generation features the impact excitation
manifested as the formation of a high-intensity peak at the beginning of the pulse, the peak position relative to the subsequent
part of the pulse depending on the radius of curvature of the end cavity mirror. The SRS-conversion of the fundamental laser
radiation (λ = 1.351 μm) starts in the central region of the Nd:KGW-element and then spreads towards its boundaries. The total
integral SRS-pulse of duration 15–25 ns represents an envelope of shorter (1–2 ns) time-shifted pulses generated by separate
local areas of the active medium cross-section. The multimode character of generation results in gradual damage to the V:YAG
Q Q -switch at the attained SRS-radiation energy of 8–14 mJ. 相似文献
