In this paper, variational principels in elasticity are classified according to the differences in the constraints used in these principles. It is shown in a previous paper [4] that the stress-strain relations are the constraint conditions in all these variational principles, and cannot be removed by the method of linear Lagrange multiplier. The other possible constraints are four of them: (1) equations of equilibrium, (2) strain-displacement relations, (3) boundary conditions of given external forces and (4) boundary conditions of given boundary displacements. In variational principles of elasticity, some of them have only one kind of such constraints, some have two kinds or three kinds of constraints and at the most four kinds of constraints. Thus, we have altogether 15 kinds of possible variational principles. However, for every possible variational principle, either the strain energy density or the complementary energy density may be used. Hence, there are altogether 30 classes of functional of variational principles in elasticity. In this paper, all these functionals are tabulated in detail.  相似文献

Delamination growth caused by local buckling of delaminated laminate under compression may lead the structure to failure. In this paper, a two-dimensional model of delaminated laminates was studied using a combination of post-buckling theory and fracture mechanics. The delaminated laminate under compression is first analysed by the first-order deformable plate thoery. Then, the energy release rateG at every point along the delamination front is derived by means of a variation problem with a moving boundary. Finally, the near-surface elliptical delamination is also discussed. There is a large variation of energy release rateG along the delamination front, the direction in which delamination growth may occur depends upon the delamination aspect ratio, the state of applied load and the orientation of plies.Supported by the Chinese Science Foundation of Aeronautics  相似文献

The conventional approach to analysis the buckling of rectangular laminates containing an embedded delamination subjected to the in-plane loading is to simplify the laminate as a beam-plate from which the predicted buckling load decreases as the length of the laminate increases. Two-dimensional analyses are employed in this paper by extending the one-dimensional model to take into consideration of the influence of the delamination width on the buckling performance of the laminates. The laminate is simply supported containing a through width delamination. A new parameter β defined as the ratio of delamination length to delamination width is introduced with an emphasis on the influence of the delamination size. It is found that (i) when the ratio β is greater than one snap-through buckling prevails, the buckling load is determined by the delamination size and depth only; (ii) as the ratio β continues to increase, the buckling load will approach to a constant value. Solutions are verified with the well established results and are found in good agreement with the latter.  相似文献

In order to effectively describe the progressively intralaminar and interlam- inar damage for composite laminates, a three dimensional progressive damage model for composite laminates to be used for low-velocity impact is presented. Being applied to three-dimensional (3D) solid elements and cohesive elements, the nonlinear damage model can be used to analyze the dynamic performance of composite structure and its failure be- havior. For the intralaminar damage, as a function of the energy release rate, the damage model in an exponential function can describe progressive development of the damage. For the interlaminar damage, the damage evolution is described by the framework of the continuum mechanics through cohesive elements. Coding the user subroutine VUMAT of the finite element software ABAQUS/Explicit, the model is applied to an example, i.e., carbon fiber reinforced epoxy composite laminates under low-velocity impact. It is shown that the prediction of damage and deformation agrees well with the experimental results.  相似文献

Investigations of viscoelastic composite materials and structural members carried out using the TDLTSDB and initial-imperfection method are reviewed. The investigations address the internal and surface loss of stability of layered and fibrous composites, the loss of stability of plates, and the delamination (buckling) of plates with cracks. Each of these problems is reviewed separately. New areas of further research are proposed. Delamination of a symmetric circular plate made of viscoelastic composite is studied. It is assumed that the plate has a penny-shaped crack whose edges have a minor axisymmetric imperfection. The lateral surface of the plate is clamped and is compressed by uniform radial normal forces through a rigid body. The studies are made using the exact geometrically nonlinear equations of the theory of viscoelasticity. The delamination criterion is assumed unrestrained growth of the initial imperfection. The Laplace transform and FEM are employed. In particular cases, the results are compared with those for elastic composites  相似文献

For viscoelastic materials, the energy release rate is a fairly important parameter for determining whether the crack extends, but so far its meaning for viscoelastic materials is not yet clear enough. In this paper, the thermodynamic mechanical theory is used to derive the local and global energy release rate of viscoelastic materials when constitutive equations are given. Moreover, the method of deriving the viscoelastic energy release rate is discussed. The relation between the energy release rate and internal energy, Helmholz free energy is described. The equivalence between the local and global energy release rates is also proved after some doubts in previous papers are dispelled, although the upshot is not original. Furthermore, the concrete forms of the energy release rate for anisotropic, orthotropic and isotropic viscoelastic media are presented. The forms of the local and global energy release rates in the failure zone are discussed and the difference between the equation presented here and the one given in previous papers is pointed out.  相似文献

Free vibration analysis of composite laminates with delaminations is performed based on a three-dimensional semi-analytical model established by introducing the local radial point interpolation method (LRPIM) into a Hamilton system. The governing equation is derived with a transfer matrix technique and a spring layer model based on a local weak-form equivalent to the modified Hellinger-Reissner variational principle. Main superiority of the present model is that the scale of the governing equation involves only the so-called state variables at the top and bottom surfaces, and is insensitive to the thickness and the layer number of the composite laminates. Several numerical examples for analyzing the vibration frequencies and mode shapes of delaminated composite beams and plates are given to validate the model. The results are in good agreement with the pre-existing results.  相似文献

An analysis of the buckling and post-buckling of a delaminated composite strut is presented using a simple 4 degree of freedom nonlinear Rayleigh–Ritz formulation. Bifurcation analysis indicates that instability occurs in general at an asymmetric point of bifurcation. Depending on the depth of delamination both thin-film and overall buckling can occur in the post-buckling range, the transition being seen at a point of secondary bifurcation. For certain combinations of parameters this becomes a stellar bifurcation, associated with a double eigenvalue, where there are three possible subsequent routes for the post-buckling. The method used is fast and reliable and can be readily extended to modelling a composite with several layers.  相似文献

A new procedure for the optimum layup design of composite laminates is described in this paper. In this method the global optimum search and local relaxing constraints are adequately combined together. The design variables are divided and applied in separate processes. A 16-node hybrid semi-Loof element model is used in the global structure analysis. The iterative complex method is adopted in the optimization. The method is suitable for the minimum weight design of a laminate subjected to the strength and stiffness constraints under multiple loading.
