A fully oxygenated Cu(1)Ba2YCu(2)2O7-delta sample having 0.167 at % of the Cu atoms replaced by enriched 57Fe was synthesized. As confirmed by 57Fe M?ssbauer spectroscopy approximately 16% of the Fe atoms entered the superconducting Cu(2)O2 planes. M?ssbauer spectra recorded at various temperatures between 77 and 373 K exhibited the presence of a weak magnetic hyperfine interaction in the Fe atoms entering the CuO2 planes. The nonzero internal field obtained from the M?ssbauer data increased following a Brillouin-type behavior, from the estimated Néel-like temperature of approximately 400 K down to 96 K where it reached approximately 1.5 T. Upon further cooling below T_{c} the internal field decreased fast down to approximately 0.4 T at 77 K. The presence of the internal field is believed to be related to magnetic correlations among the CuO2-plane atoms, i.e., to reflect local antiferromagnetic coupling between the Cu atoms.  相似文献

Evidence for static alternating magnetic fields in the vortex cores of underdoped YBa2Cu3O6+x is reported. Muon spin rotation measurements of the internal magnetic field distribution of the vortex state of YBa2Cu3O6.50 in applied fields of H = 1 T and H = 4 T reveal a feature in the high-field tail of the field distribution which is not present in optimally doped YBa2Cu3O6.95 and which fits well to a model with static magnetic fields in the vortex cores. The magnitude of the fields is estimated to be 18(2) G and decreases above T = 10 K. We discuss possible origins of the additional vortex core magnetism within the context of existing theories.  相似文献

We discuss some aspects of the problem of the equivalence of dilute antiferromagnets and random field Ising models. We first investigate for dilute antiferromagnets the validity of the arguments of Imry and Ma. It turns out that they are applicable, but some care is required concerning the role played by the so-called internal Peierls contours. Next we consider a hierarchical version of a dilute antiferromagnetic Ising model in the presence of a uniform magnetic field and show that a renormalization group transformation maps it exactly into a hierarchical version of the random field Ising model, thus proving their equivalence as far as the critical behavior is concerned. In particular this implies that phase transition with spontaneous magnetization occurs only for dimensiond>2. Finally we show that in the absence of internal Peierls contours both models, in their hierarchical versions, exhibit phase transition already in dimensiond=2.  相似文献

High-sensitivity atomic magnetometer unaffected by spin-exchange relaxation   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
Alkali-metal magnetometers compete with SQUID detectors as the most sensitive magnetic field sensors. Their sensitivity is limited by relaxation due to spin-exchange collisions. We demonstrate a K magnetometer in which spin-exchange relaxation is completely eliminated by operating at high K density and low magnetic field. Direct measurements of the signal-to-noise ratio give a magnetometer sensitivity of 10 fT Hz(-1/2), limited by magnetic noise produced by Johnson currents in the magnetic shields. We extend a previous theoretical analysis of spin exchange in low magnetic fields to arbitrary spin polarizations and estimate the shot-noise limit of the magnetometer to be 2x10(-18) T Hz(-1/2).  相似文献

When fluid saturated porous media are subjected to an applied uniform magnetic field, an internal magnetic field, inside the pore space, is induced due to magnetic susceptibility differences between the pore-filling fluid and the solid matrix. The microscopic distribution of the internal magnetic field, and its gradients, was simulated based on the thin-section pore structure of a sedimentary rock. The simulation results were verified experimentally. We show that the 'decay due to diffusion in internal field' magnetic resonance technique may be applied to measure the pore size distribution in partially saturated porous media. For the first time, we have observed that the internal magnetic field and its gradients in porous rocks have a Lorentzian distribution, with an average gradient value of zero. The Lorentzian distribution of internal magnetic field arises from the large susceptibility contrast and an intrinsic disordered pore structure in these porous media. We confirm that the single exponential magnetic resonance free induction decay commonly observed in fluid saturated porous media arises from a Lorentzian internal field distribution. A linear relationship between the magnetic resonance linewidth, and the product of the susceptibility difference in the porous media and the applied magnetic field, is observed through simulation and experiment.  相似文献

Neutron scattering measurements on the spin-ice candidate material Ho2Ru2O7 have revealed two magnetic transitions at T approximately 95 and approximately 1.4 K to long-range ordered states involving the Ru and Ho sublattices, respectively. Between these transitions, the Ho3+ moments form short-ranged ordered spin clusters. The internal field provided by the ordered S=1 Ru4+ moments disrupts the fragile spin-ice state and drives the Ho3+ moments to order. We have directly measured a slight shift in the Ho3+ crystal field levels at 95 K from the Ru ordering.  相似文献

Mössbauer spectroscopic (MS) measurements at ambient and cryogenic temperatures on powdered Fe-doped NiAl materials (Ni-40Al-9Fe and Ni-50Al-9Fe) exhibited paramagnetic behavior down to 17 K, with one Fe-site in the hosts. At 4.2 K, Ni-40Al-9Fe (Al deficient) remained paramagnetic, while Ni-50Al-9Fe (Ni deficient) displayed a magnetic transition, resolved in terms of one Fe environment. The internal magnetic field of the magnetically split site of Ni-50Al-9Fe was 185?±?8 kOe determined from a field distribution model. This shows that electronic and magnetic interactions in ordered Fe-doped NiAl depend on Fe site preference tendencies. The single Fe site observed at 4.2 K for the Ni-deficient alloy shows that its Fe distribution or site occupancy is not random but ordered. The interactions leading to the development of internal magnetic field in the Ni-deficient ordered alloy is temperature dependent being absent above 17 K based on MS measurements from ambient to 4.2 K.  相似文献

The Mössbauer spectra of (Fe, Co)S1 + x were recorded at room temperature and 4.2 K for samples of varying composition to study the magnetic behaviour of the solid solutions. The Mössbauer spectra are split magnetically at iron concentrations above 16% Fe. For samples with less than 16%Fe, the Mössbauer spectra show no evidence of magnetic splitting down to 4.2 K. The room temperature centre shift data appear to vary continuously with composition and the hyperfine magnetic field decreases with decreasing Fe2+ concentration. A Mössbauer spectrum of 57Fe:CoS at 4.2 K in an external field of 25 kOe showed no evidence of magnetic splitting beyond that caused by the applied field, indicating a net zero internal field.A high spin to low spin transition in Fe2+ is ruled out as being responsible for the observed magnetic behaviour on the basis of the centre shift data. The Mössbauer data are interpreted to indicate a substantial increase in electron delocalization towards the ligands as the 〈M-S〉 distance decreases with decreasing Fe2+concentration. This causes a reduction in the magnitude of the internal magnetic field contributions as well as a decrease of shielding of the nucleus, giving rise to the observed Mössbauer parameters.The Mössbauer spectrum of 57Fe:CoS at room temperature is compared with the spectrum of FeS above the 6.7 GPa phase transition at room temperature. The similarities of the centre shift and the 〈M-S〉 distance in the two phases indicate that covalency may also be responsible for the observed high pressure behaviour of FeS, and not the presence of Fe3+ as was originally suggested.  相似文献

We report a study of magnetic properties and phase transitions in random anisotropy glasses rich in the rare-earth elements Gd, Tb and Nd. For the Gd glass, which has a small magnetic anisotropy, we find an extremely large, possibly infinite, susceptibility below 120 K and no intrinsic spontaneous magnetization. Below 55 K an hysteretic state develops. The Tb and Nd glasses, both of which have large anisotropy, exhibit transitions to a speromagneic state and they do not show an infinite susceptibility phase. The results are discussed in terms of recent theoretical predictions concerning phase transitions in the presence of random magnetic anisotropy.  相似文献

A preliminary heat capacity study of Fe8 molecules as a function of applied magnetic field, temperature and measuring frequency is presented. The heat capacity versus temperature curve shows in zero field several peaks between 2 and 3 K. The anomalies shift to a lower temperature when a magnetic field is applied. With increasing field the peaks are smeared. No frequency dependence could be established in the measured range of ω =217–4440 Hz. We have also performed heat capacity measurements as a function of magnetic field at fixed temperature. Between 2 and 3 K a pattern of well developed peaks at discrete magnetic field values is observed. The pattern strongly changes in the small temperature range between 2.3 and 2.5 K.  相似文献

We present a new method for observing fluid diffusion in a porous medium. The method employs 2D exchange spectroscopy for molecules diffusing in the presence of local magnetic field inhomogeneities, in our case distilled water in various sized glass bead packs. Our experiment involves an acquisition and evolution time domain with the two Fourier domains corresponding to the spectral distribution of local fields. We show that exchange in the internal magnetic field can be seen in a 2D spectrum with a characteristic time on the order of that required to diffuse 0.15 sphere diameters with similar behavior found for computer simulations. The method is potentially useful for studying the internal migrations in more complicated systems such as sandstones or other porous media.  相似文献

We have studied the random telegraph signal (RTS) generated by a single paramagnetic spin center adjacent to a submicrometer silicon metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistor. An in-plane magnetic field induces a substantial change in the statistics of the RTS. We show that a model using the grand partition theorem can qualitatively explain the change in statistics of the RTS as a function of the applied magnetic field. While the data at high temperatures can be well described by this simple model, quantitative discrepancy increases as the temperature is lowered.  相似文献

We analyze the magnetic kinematic dynamo in a conducting fluid where a stationary shear flow is accompanied by relatively weak random velocity fluctuations. The diffusionless and diffusion regimes are described. The growth rates of the magnetic field moments are related to the statistical characteristics of the flow describing divergence of the Lagrangian trajectories. The magnetic field correlation functions are examined, and their growth rates and scaling behavior are established. General assertions are illustrated by the explicit solution of a model where the velocity field is short-correlated in time.  相似文献

SR measurements on the rare earth orthoferrites ErFeO3 and DyFeO3 are reported. Experiments have been made as a function of temperature (8–460 K) and the external magnetic field. Above 90 K a single internal field on the order of 2 kG parallel to the c-direction is observed. Zero external field measurements between 50 K and 84 K showed in ErFeO3 two distinct local fields. The external field dependence of the observed frequencies demonstrates that the local field is related to the weak ferromagnetism in both orthoferrites.Work supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation.  相似文献

We have studied the spin liquid Tb2Ti2O7 by single crystal neutron diffraction under high pressure up to 2.8 GPa, together with uniaxial stress, down to 0.1 K, in zero and high magnetic fields up to 7 T. In zero magnetic field, a long-range ordered antiferromagnetic structure is induced by pressure. The Néel temperature and ordered magnetic moment can be tuned by the anisotropic pressure component. Under magnetic field, the antiferromagnetic structure transforms into a canted ferromagnetic one at 0.6 T. Spin canting persists even at 7 T. The magnetic phase diagram under pressure shows a strong increase of the Néel temperature with the field.  相似文献

Internal magnetic field gradients in water saturated glass bead packs were studied by numerical simulations and a constant time spin echo (CTSE) experiment. The CTSE is comprised of two spin echo refocusing periods where each of the two evolution periods, tau1 and tau2, is varied so that the total evolution, 2(tau1 + tau2), is held constant. The experiment is similar to that introduced by Norwood and Quilter and allows the effects of dephasing due to diffusion in a magnetic field gradient to be separated from other relaxation mechanisms. In our experiments, the magnetic susceptibility difference between the pore fluid and glass beads creates the internal field gradient. CTSE measurements were performed at 7 T (300 MHz 1H) for water saturated in 50 microm diameter glass bead pack. We find that the internal gradients in the center of the pore bodies, where free diffusion applies, is in the range of 10 to 100 G/cm. This fluid volume accounts for < or =10% of the total pore volume. From direct numerical simulations of the internal magnetic field based on a first principles calculation, we find that the major fraction, >90%, of the pore volume has internal gradients of order 500 to 5,000 G/cm. Signals from water in these large gradients is not observed in our CTSE measurements.  相似文献

Mössbauer effect of Fe57 embedded as very dilute substitutional impurities in Pd2MnSn was studied. The impurities are seen to replace the three elements in the alloy. Although the Curie temperature of the alloy is 189K, well below the room temperature, the Mössbauer spectrum recorded at room temperature consisted of two distinct 6-finger magnetic hyperfine spectra and a single unsplit line. One of the 6-finger patterns which corresponds to an internal magnetic field ofH int=?375 kOe is inferred to arise due to local magnetic coupling of the localized magnetic moments of Fe impurities at the Pd sites with those of the 4 Mn first nearest neighbours of the Fe impurities. The other 6-finger pattern which corresponds to an internal magnetic field ofH int=?335 kOe is inferred to arise due to the local magnetic coupling of the localized magnetic moments of the Fe impurities at the Sn sites with those of the 6 Mn second nearest neighboours of the Fe impurities. The difference in the internal magnetic fields observed at the Pd and Sn sites in the alloy could be understood qualitatively, on the basis of RKKY theory, as arising due to the different conduction electron polarization contributions to the net internal magnetic field at the Fe impurity sites. The results of the measurements suggest that the localized magnetic moments of Fe57 impurities at Pd and Sn sites are antiferromagnetically coupled with the moments of their neighbouring Mn atoms.  相似文献
