In this paper we prove a uniform Sobolev inequality along the Sasaki–Ricci flow. In the process, we develop the theory of basic Lebesgue and Sobolev function spaces, and prove some general results about the decomposition of the heat kernel for a class of elliptic operators on a Sasaki manifold.  相似文献

Weighted Sobolev Inequalities and Ricci Flat Manifolds   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, we prove a weighted Sobolev inequality and a Hardy inequality on manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature satisfying a reverse volume doubling condition. It enables us to obtain rigidity results for Ricci flat manifolds. Received: November 2006, Revision: April 2007, Accepted: April 2007  相似文献

We study the problem of non-explosion of diffusion processes on a manifold with time-dependent Riemannian metric. In particular we obtain that Brownian motion cannot explode in finite time if the metric evolves under backwards Ricci flow. Our result makes it possible to remove the assumption of non-explosion in the pathwise contraction result established by Arnaudon et?al. (arXiv:0904.2762, to appear in Sém. Prob.). As an important tool which is of independent interest we derive an It? formula for the distance from a fixed reference point, generalising a result of Kendall (Ann. Prob. 15:1491?C1500, 1987).  相似文献

This paper studies the geometric and topological properties of complete open Riemannian manifolds which support a weighted Sobolev or log-Sobolev inequality. We show that the constant in the weighted Sobolev inequality on a complete open Riemannian manifold should be bigger than or equal to the optimal one on the Euclidean space of the same dimension and that a complete open manifold of asymptotically non-negative Ricci curvature supporting a weighted Sobolev inequality must have large volume growth. We also show that a complete manifold of non-negative Ricci curvature on which the log-Sobolev inequality holds is not very far from the Euclidean space.  相似文献

We prove a uniform Sobolev inequality for Ricci flow, which is independent of the number of surgeries. As an application, under less assumptions, a noncollapsing result stronger than Perelman's κ noncollapsing with surgery is derived. The proof is much shorter and seems more accessible. The result also improves some earlier ones where the Sobolev inequality depended on the number of surgeries. To cite this article: Q.S. Zhang, C. R. Acad. Sci. Paris, Ser. I 346 (2008).  相似文献

In this article, we produce infinite families of 4-manifolds with positive first Betti numbers and meeting certain conditions on their homotopy and smooth types so as to conclude the non-vanishing of the stable cohomotopy Seiberg–Witten invariants of their connected sums. Elementary building blocks used in Ishida and Sasahira (arXiv:0804.3452, 2008) are shown to be included in our general construction scheme as well. We then use these families to construct the first examples of families of closed smooth 4-manifolds for which Gromov’s simplicial volume is nontrivial, Perelman’s \(\bar{\lambda}\) invariant is negative, and the relevant Gromov–Hitchin–Thorpe type inequality is satisfied, yet no non-singular solution to the normalized Ricci flow for any initial metric can be obtained. Fang et al. (Math. Ann. 340:647–674, 2008) conjectured that the existence of any non-singular solution to the normalized Ricci flow on smooth 4-manifolds with non-trivial Gromov’s simplicial volume and negative Perelman’s \(\bar{\lambda}\) invariant implies the Gromov–Hitchin–Thorpe type inequality. Our results in particular imply that the converse of this fails to be true for vast families of 4-manifolds.  相似文献

Under the assumption of the uniform local Sobolev inequality, it is proved that Riemannian metrics with an absolute Ricci curvature bound and a small Riemannian curvature integral bound can be smoothed to having a sectional curvature bound. This partly extends previous a priori estimates of Li (J Geom Anal 17:495–511, 2007; Adv Math 223:1924–1957, 2010).  相似文献

We prove a sharp Sobolev inequality on manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. Moreover, we prove a Michael-Simon inequality for submanifolds in manifolds with nonnegative sectional curvature. Both inequalities depend on the asymptotic volume ratio of the ambient manifold. © 2022 Wiley Periodicals LLC.  相似文献

In this paper we introduce a new logarithmic entropy functional for the linear heat equation on complete Riemannian manifolds and prove that it is monotone decreasing on complete Riemannian manifolds with nonnegative Ricci curvature. Our results are simpler version, without Ricci flow, of R.-G. Ye’s recent result (arXiv:math.DG/0708.2008). As an application, we apply the monotonicity of the logarithmic entropy functional of heat kernels to characterize Euclidean space.  相似文献

Continuing our previous work(ar Xiv:1509.07981v1),we derive another global gradient estimate for positive functions, particularly for positive solutions to the heat equation on finite or locally finite graphs. In general, the gradient estimate in the present paper is independent of our previous one.As applications,it can be used to get an upper bound and a lower bound of the heat kernel on locally finite graphs. These global gradient estimates can be compared with the Li–Yau inequality on graphs contributed by Bauer et al.[J.Differential Geom.,99,359–409(2015)].In many topics, such as eigenvalue estimate and heat kernel estimate(not including the Liouville type theorems),replacing the Li–Yau inequality by the global gradient estimate,we can get similar results.  相似文献

It was proved in 1957 by Huber that any complete surface with integrable Gauss curvature is conformally equivalent to a compact surface with a finite number of points removed. Counterexamples show that the curvature assumption must necessarily be strengthened in order to get an analogous conclusion in higher dimensions. We show in this paper that any non compact Riemannian manifold with finite -norm of the Ricci curvature satisfies Huber-type conclusions if either it is a conformal domain with volume growth controlled from above in a compact Riemannian manifold or if it is conformally flat of dimension 4 and a natural Sobolev inequality together with a mild scalar curvature decay assumption hold. We also get partial results in other dimensions. Received: April 14, 2000; revised version: March 20, 2001  相似文献

We introduce notions of dynamic gradient flows on time-dependent metric spaces as well as on time-dependent Hilbert spaces. We prove existence of solutions for a class of time-dependent energy functionals in both settings. In particular, in the case when each underlying space satisfies a lower Ricci curvature bound in the sense of Lott, Sturm and Villani, we provide time-discrete approximations of the time-dependent heat flows introduced in Kopfer and Sturm (Heat flows on time-dependent metric measure spaces and super-Ricci flows, 2017. arXiv:1611.02570).  相似文献

We prove a comparison theorem for the isoperimetric profiles of solutions of the normalized Ricci flow on the two-sphere: If the isoperimetric profile of the initial metric is greater than that of some positively curved axisymmetric metric, then the inequality remains true for the isoperimetric profiles of the evolved metrics. We apply this using the Rosenau solution as the model metric to deduce sharp time-dependent curvature bounds for arbitrary solutions of the normalized Ricci flow on the two-sphere. This gives a simple and direct proof of convergence to a constant curvature metric without use of any blowup or compactness arguments, Harnack estimates, or any classification of behaviour near singularities.  相似文献

Let M be a complete, connected noncompact manifold with bounded geometry. Under a condition near infinity, we prove that the Log Sobolev functional (1.1) has an extremal function decaying exponentially near infinity. We also prove that an extremal function may not exist if the condition is violated. This result has the following consequences. 1. It seems to give the first example of connected, complete manifolds with bounded geometry where a standard Log Sobolev inequality does not have an extremal. 2. It gives a negative answer to the open question on the existence of extremal of Perelman?s W entropy in the noncompact case, which was stipulated by Perelman (2002) [22, p. 9, 3.2 Remark]. 3. It helps to prove, in some cases, that noncompact shrinking breathers of Ricci flow are gradient shrinking solitons.  相似文献

We give a sharp upper diameter bound for a compact shrinking Ricci soliton in terms of its scalar curvature integral and the Perelman’s entropy functional. The sharp cases could occur at round spheres. The proof mainly relies on a sharp logarithmic Sobolev inequality of gradient shrinking Ricci solitons and a Vitali-type covering argument.

In this paper we study a Poincaré-Sobolev type inequality on compact Riemannian n-manifolds with boundary where the exponent growth is critical. Two constants have to be determined. We show that, contrary to the classical Sobolev inequality, the first best constant in this inequality does not depend on the dimension only, but depends on the geometry. It can be represented as the minimum of a given energy functional. We study the nonlinear PDE associated to this functional which involves the geometry of the boundary. For a star-shaped domain D in whose boundary has positive Ricci curvature, we give explicitly two Sobolev constants corresponding to the embedding in . This result is used to obtain an explicit geometrical lower bound for . Received November 15, 1999 / Published online April 12, 2001  相似文献

In this paper, we derive a general evolution formula for possible Harnack quantities. As a consequence, we prove several differential Harnack inequalities for positive solutions of backward heat-type equations with potentials (including the conjugate heat equation) under the Ricci flow. We shall also derive Perelman's Harnack inequality for the fundamental solution of the conjugate heat equation under the Ricci flow.  相似文献

This paper studies Sobolev type inequalities on Riemannian manifolds. We show that on a complete non-compact Riemannian manifold the constant in the Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality cannot be smaller than the optimal one on the Euclidean space of the same dimension. We also show that a complete non-compact manifold with asymptotically non-negative Ricci curvature admitting some Gagliardo-Nirenberg inequality is not very far from the Euclidean space.  相似文献

We prove a Poincaré inequality for Orlicz–Sobolev functions with zero boundary values in bounded open subsets of a metric measure space. This result generalizes the (p, p)-Poincaré inequality for Newtonian functions with zero boundary values in metric measure spaces, as well as a Poincaré inequality for Orlicz–Sobolev functions on a Euclidean space, proved by Fuchs and Osmolovski (J Anal Appl (Z.A.A.) 17(2):393–415, 1998). Using the Poincaré inequality for Orlicz–Sobolev functions with zero boundary values we prove the existence and uniqueness of a solution to an obstacle problem for a variational integral with nonstandard growth.  相似文献

We define the coarse Ricci curvature of metric spaces in terms of how much small balls are closer (in Wasserstein transportation distance) than their centers are. This definition naturally extends to any Markov chain on a metric space. For a Riemannian manifold this gives back, after scaling, the value of Ricci curvature of a tangent vector. Examples of positively curved spaces for this definition include the discrete cube and discrete versions of the Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. Moreover this generalization is consistent with the Bakry-Émery Ricci curvature for Brownian motion with a drift on a Riemannian manifold.Positive Ricci curvature is shown to imply a spectral gap, a Lévy-Gromov-like Gaussian concentration theorem and a kind of modified logarithmic Sobolev inequality. The bounds obtained are sharp in a variety of examples.  相似文献
