In this paper, a nonlinear mathematical model is proposed and analyzed to study the removal of gaseous pollutants and particulate matters from the atmosphere of a city by precipitation. The atmosphere consists of four interacting phases i.e. the raindrops phase, the gaseous pollutants phase, the phase of gaseous pollutants absorbed (dissolved) in rain drops and the phase of particulate matters. The dynamics of these phases is assumed to be governed by ordinary differential equations with source, interaction, removal and recycle terms. The proposed model is analyzed by using stability theory of differential equations. It is shown that the pollutants can be removed from the atmosphere and their removal rates depend mainly upon the rates of emission of the pollutants, rate of rain drops formation and the rate of falling rain drops on the ground. If the rate of precipitation is very high, the pollutants may be removed completely from the atmosphere.  相似文献

A novel approach to estimate the Young’s modulus of a functionally graded rubber composite (FGRC) from the damping ratio is demonstrated with the examples of unreinforced and fly ash-reinforced materials. FGRC coupons were prepared using the conventional casting technique. The occurrence of gradation in the specimens was attributed to the variable density of particles present in the fly ash, settling at different depths. The technique of free vibrations was used for experimentation. The damping response of the FGRC specimens was studied. The results obtained from the experiments showed that, with growing filler weight fraction, the Young’s modulus of the composite increased. The empirical model developed to predict the magnitude of the modulus turned out to be in good agreement with experimental data.  相似文献

Importance and applicability of numerical flow analysis to environmental science are outlined. Fluid phenomena in the ocean, rivers, atmosphere and the ground are investigated by means of numerical methods and in turn proposals for the control, restoration and counterplans against the so-called environmental disrupters which disorder natural environment as well as ecological systems in nature. All such environmental disrupters diffuse in and are transported by environmental fluids. Those disrupters sometimes react on some other chemicals to generate offensive odor and even more poisonous materials. Environmental fluid dynamics is effective for the evaluation, prediction and restoration of the environmental damage. In this paper we focus our attention on the dynamical analysis of the diffusion and advection processes of environmental disrupters in environmental fluids. The first objective is to make an attempt to formulate a mathematical model for environmental fluids. The second objective is to exhibit some results of numerical simulations of the motion of offensive odor or pollutants in the atmosphere over a complex geographical topography.  相似文献

In the present study, a modified nonlocal elasticity theory is used for flutter and divergence analyses of the cantilever carbon nanotubes (CNTs) conveying fluid. The CNT is embedded in viscoelastic foundation and is subjected to an axial compressive load acting at the free end. An extreme high-order governing equation as well as higher-order boundary conditions is developed using Hamilton's principle for vibration and stability analysis of the CNT. The numerical solution for flutter and divergence velocities is computed using the extended Galerkin method. The validity of the present analysis is confirmed by comparing with molecular dynamics simulation (MDS) and numerical solutions available in the literature. In the numerical results, the effects of nonlocal parameter, surface effects, viscoelastic foundation and compressive axial load on the stability boundaries of the system are investigated. The results show that the stability boundaries of the CNT are strongly dependent on the small scale coefficient and surface effects.

This study is intended to investigate piezoelectric energy harvesting from vibrations of a beam induced by multi-moving loads. Various multi-moving loads are analyzed by considering various parameters. The system of equations for electro-mechanical materials is derived by using the generalized Hamilton's principle under the assumptions of the Euler–Bernoulli beam theory. The electromechanical behavior of piezoelectric harvesters in a unimorph configuration is analyzed using finite element method. The Newmark's explicit integration technique is adopted for the transient analysis. The predictions of the results of the finite element models are verified by that of the available solutions. The effects of piezoelectric bonding location, velocity and number of moving loads as well as time lags between moving loads on the produced power are investigated. The numerical results show that the investigated parameters have significant effects on the energy harvesting from a vibration of beams under the action of multi-moving loads.  相似文献

In this paper, the second order statistics of post buckling response of functionally graded materials plate (FGM) subjected to mechanical and thermal loading with nonuniform temperature changes subjected to temperature independent (TID) and dependent (TD) material properties is examined. Material properties such as material properties of each constituent’s materials, volume fraction index are taken as independent random input variables. The basic formulation is based on higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) with von-Karman nonlinear kinematic using modified C0 continuity. A direct iterative based C0 nonlinear finite element method (FEM) combined with mean centered first order perturbation technique (FOPT) proposed by last two authors for the composite plate is extended for Functionally Graded Materials (FGMs) plate with reasonable accuracy to compute the second order statistics (mean and coefficient of variation) of the post buckling load response of the FGM plates. The effect of random material properties with amplitude ratios, volume fraction index, plate thickness ratios, aspect ratios, boundary conditions and types of loadings subjected to TID and TD material properties are presented through numerical examples. The performance of outlined present approach is validated with the results available in literatures and independent Monte Carlo simulation (MCS).  相似文献

The nonlinear in-plane buckling analysis for fixed shallow functionally graded (FG) graphene reinforced composite arches which are subjected to uniform radial load and temperature field is presented in this paper. The arch is composed of multiple graphene platelet reinforced composite (GPLRC) layers with gradient changes of concentration of graphene platelets (GPLs) in each layer. The principle of virtual work, combined with the effective materials properties estimated by the Halpin-Tsai micromechanics model for GPLRC layer, is used to derive the nonlinear buckling equilibrium equations of the FG-GPLRC arch, and then the analytical solutions for the limit point and bifurcation buckling loads are obtained. Comprehensive parametric studies are conducted to explore the effects of various distribution patterns and geometries of GPL, temperature field and arch geometry on the nonlinear equilibrium path and buckling behavior of the composite arch. The influence of temperature on the geometric parameters which are defined as switches between limit point buckling, bifurcation buckling and no buckling are also discussed. It is found that a higher temperature field can increase the buckling loads of the FG-GPLRC arch but reduce the value of the minimum geometric parameters that switching the buckling modes. The results also show that even a small amount of GPLs filler content can increase the buckling loads of the FG-GPLRC arch considerably, and distributing more GPLs near the surface layers is the best pattern to enhance the buckling performances of FG-GPLRC arches.  相似文献

The complexity of transition to chaotic flow is discussed. It is shown that many different bifurcation processes may coexist and join together to excite the chaotic flow. The profile of this nonlinear dynamical behaviour is developed on the basis of a four-mode truncation model.  相似文献

Stability of a growing viscoelastic rod subjected to ageing   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The stability of a compressed growing rod of viscoelastic material that possesses the property of ageing /1/ is investigated. In conformity with the Chatayev definition of the stability of dynamic systems and the Lyapunov method described in /2/, stability conditions are obtained for a rod growing during a finite time interval, and in finite and semi-infinite time intervals. Some results of a numerical analysis of the behaviour of such a rod are presented in /3/.  相似文献

This paper presents an analytical investigation on the nonlinear response of thick functionally graded doubly curved shallow panels resting on elastic foundations and subjected to some conditions of mechanical, thermal, and thermomechanical loads. Material properties are assumed to be temperature independent, and graded in the thickness direction according to a simple power law distribution in terms of the volume fractions of constituents. The formulations are based on higher order shear deformation shell theory taking into account geometrical nonlinearity, initial geometrical imperfection and Pasternak type elastic foundation. By applying Galerkin method, explicit relations of load-deflection curves for simply supported curved panels are determined. Effects of material and geometrical properties, in-plane boundary restraint, foundation stiffness and imperfection on the buckling and postbuckling loading capacity of the panels are analyzed and discussed. The novelty of this study results from accounting for higher order transverse shear deformation and panel-foundation interaction in analyzing nonlinear stability of thick functionally graded cylindrical and spherical panels.  相似文献

The existence and stability conditions for the steady motions and equilibrium positions of non-linear quasi-conservative systems with fast external perturbations having quasi-periodic and random components are investigated. A change of variables is proposed which reduces Lagrange's equations of the system to standard form. It is shown the averaged system of the first approximation has a canonical form and the effect of fast perturbations (not necessarily potential) is equivalent to a change in the system's potential. This leads to stabilization of unstable equilibrium positions and to the appearance of additional stationary points different from the equilibrium positions of the unperturbed system. The approach used is illustrated by examples; the stability of a pendulum on an elastic suspension when there is suspension point, and the steady motion of a sphere subjected to a high-frequency load. The critical loading of a double pendulum loaded by a pulsating tracking force is estimated. A form of wide-band random perturbations capable of stabilizing the system is considered.  相似文献

This paper studies the dynamics of a system composed of a collection of particles that exhibit collisions between them. Several entropy measures and different impact conditions of the particles are tested. The results reveal a Power Law evolution both of the system energy and the entropy measures, typical in systems having fractional dynamics.  相似文献

Summary This note presents the critical values of the downward point load applied at the crown of clamped circular arches with inextensible centroidal line. The calculations are based on the Euler theory of the initially curved elastica undergoing large deflections. In contrast to the two-highed circular arches the buckling is not always of the sidesway type; for most practical dimensions of the clamped arch the instability is characterized by snap-through.

In this article bio-economics of a renewable resource that is subjected to strong Allee effect (multiplicative Allee effect) is investigated from sole owner perspective. The considered optimal harvesting problem has been solved using Pontryagin maximum principle. The control problem admits multiple singular equilibrium solutions in contrast to the case where the growth of the resource is of compensatory nature. Thus the choice of optimal singular solution and the nature of associated approach paths make the problem pertinent and interesting.  相似文献

The problem of heat and mass transfer in an unsteady free-convection flow over a continuous moving vertical sheet in an ambient fluid is investigated for constant heat flux using the group theoretical method. The nonlinear coupled partial differential equation governing the flow and the boundary conditions are transformed to a system of ordinary differential equations with appropriate boundary conditions. The obtained ordinary differential equations are solved numerically using the shooting method. The effect of Prandlt number on the velocity and temperature of the boundary-layer is plotted in curves. A comparison with previous work is presented.  相似文献

We are concerned with the well-posedness theory of two-dimensional compressible subsonic jet flow issuing from a semi-infinitely long nozzle of arbitrary cross-section. Given any atmospheric pressure p0, we show that there exists a critical mass flux mcr depending on p0 and Ω, such that if the incoming mass flux m0 is less than the critical value, then there exists a unique smooth subsonic jet flow, issuing from the given nozzle. The jet boundary is a free streamline, which initiates from the end point of the nozzle smoothly and extends to the infinity. One of the key observations in this paper is that the restriction of the incoming mass flux guarantees completely the subsonicity of the compressible jet in the whole flow field, which coincides with the observation on the compressible subsonic flows in an infinitely long nozzle without free boundary in [8].  相似文献

In this work, new methods of guaranteeing the stability of linear time periodic dynamical systems with stochastic perturbations are presented. In the approaches presented here, the Lyapunov-Floquet (L-F) transformation is applied first so that the linear time-periodic part of the equations becomes time-invariant. For the linear time periodic system with stochastic perturbations, a stability theorem and related corollary have been suggested using the results previously obtained by Infante. This technique is not only applicable to systems with stochastic parameters but also to systems with deterministic variation in parameters. Some illustrative examples are presented to show the practical applications. These methods can be used to investigate the degree of robustness and design controllers for systems with time periodic coefficients subjected to random perturbations.  相似文献
