Since gold clusters have mostly been studied theoretically by using DFT calculations, more accurate studies are of importance. Thus, small neutral and anionic gold clusters (Aun and Aun?, n=4–7) were investigated by means of coupled cluster with singles, doubles, and perturbative triple excitations [CCSD(T)] calculations with large basis sets, and some differences between DFT and CCSD(T) results are discussed. Interesting isomeric structures that have dangling atoms were obtained. Structures having dangling atoms appear to be stable up to n=4 for neutral gold clusters and up to n=7 for anionic clusters. The relative stabilities and electronic properties of some isomers and major structures are discussed on the basis of the CCSD(T) calculations. This accurate structure prediction of small gold clusters corresponding to experimental photoelectron spectral peaks is valuable in the field of atom‐scale materials science including nanocatalysts.  相似文献

Electronic and vibrational gas phase spectra of 1‐methylthymine (1MT) and 1‐methyluracil (1MU) and their clusters with water are presented. Mass selective IR/UV double resonance spectra confirm the formation of pyrimidine‐water clusters and are compared to calculated vibrational spectra obtained from ab initio calculations. In contrast to Y. He, C. Wu, W. Kong; J. Phys. Chem. A, 2004 , 108, 94 we are able to detect 1MT/1MU and their water clusters via resonant two‐photon delayed ionization under careful control of the applied water‐vapor pressure. The long‐living dark electronic state of 1MT and 1MU detected by delayed ionization, survives hydration and the photostability of 1MT/1MU cannot be attributed solely to hydration. Oxygen coexpansions and crossed‐beam experiments indicate that the triplet state population is probably small compared to the 1nπ* and/or hot electronic ground state population. Ab initio theory shows that solvation of 1MT by water does not lead to a substantial modification of the electronic relaxation and quenching of the 1nπ* state. Relaxation pathways via 1ππ*1nπ*1 and 1ππ *–S0 conical intersections and barriers have been identified, but are not significantly altered by hydration.  相似文献

Theoretical studies on BCn (n=1–6) clusters are carried out using density functional theory, Møller–Plesset second‐order perturbation theory (MP2), coupled‐cluster calculations including up to triple excitations (CCSD(T)), and higher‐level approaches. All possible isomers depending on the positions of the boron atom are generated and the lowest‐energy isomers are determined for doublet and quartet electronic states. The three potential evolution paths of the clusters are determined as a function of their size. The energetic and electronic consequences for the increased size of structures differ significantly, which leads to representatives of the ground electronic state from different structural groups. The ab initio calculated thermal functions allow enhancements to the available atomization energies and improve the agreement between the calculated and experimental heat content.  相似文献

Despite utmost importance in understanding water ionization process, reliable theoretical results of structural changes and molecular dynamics (MD) of water clusters on ionization have hardly been reported yet. Here, we investigate the water cations [(H2O)n = 2–6+] with density functional theory (DFT), Möller–Plesset second‐order perturbation theory (MP2), and coupled cluster theory with single, double, and perturbative triple excitations [CCSD(T)]. The complete basis set limits of interaction energies at the CCSD(T) level are reported, and the geometrical structures, electronic properties, and infrared spectra are investigated. The characteristics of structures and spectra of the water cluster cations reflect the formation of the hydronium cation moiety (H3O+) and the hydroxyl radical. Although most density functionals fail to predict reasonable energetics of the water cations, some functionals are found to be reliable, in reasonable agreement with high‐level ab initio results. To understand the ionization process of water clusters, DFT‐ and MP2‐based Born‐Oppenheimer MD (BOMD) simulations are performed on ionization. On ionization, the water clusters tend to have an Eigen‐like form with the hydronium cation instead of a Zundel‐like form, based on reliable BOMD simulations. For the vertically ionized water hexamer, the relatively stable (H2O)5+ (5sL4A) cluster tends to form with a detached water molecule (H2O). © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Using basis‐set extrapolation schemes for a given data set, we evaluated the binding energies and geometries at the complete basis set (CBS) limit at the levels of the second order Møller–Plesset perturbation theory (MP2) and the coupled cluster theory with singles, doubles, and perturbative triples excitations [CCSD(T)]. The systems include the hydrogen bonding (water dimer), aromatic interaction (benzene dimer), π–H interaction (benzene–water), cation–water, anion–water, π–cation interaction (cation–benzene), and π–anion interaction (anion–triazine). One extrapolation method is to exploit both BSSE‐corrected and BSSE‐uncorrected binding energies for the aug‐cc‐pVNZ (N = 2, 3, 4, …) basis set in consideration that both binding energies give the same CBS limit (CBSB). Another CBS limit (CBSC) is to use the commonly known extrapolation approach to exploit that the electron correlation energy is proportional to N?3. Since both methods are complementary, they are useful for estimating the errors and trend of the asymptotic values. There is no significant difference between both methods. Overall, the values of CBSC are found to be robust because of their consistency. However, for small N (in particular, for N = 2, 3), CBS is found to be slightly better for water–water interactions and cation–water and cation–benzene interactions, whereas CBS is found to be more reliable for bezene–water and anion–water interactions. We also note that the MP2 CBS limit value based on N = 2 and 3 combined with the difference between CCSD(T) and MP2 at N = 2 would be exploited to obtain a CCSD(T)/CBS value for aromatic–aromatic interactions and anion–π interactions, but not for cationic complexes. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report the synthesis and spectroscopic identification of the trisbenzene complexes of strontium and barium M(Bz)3 (M=Sr, Ba) in low‐temperature Ne matrix. Both complexes are characterized by a D3 symmetric structure involving three equivalent η6‐bound benzene ligands and a closed‐shell singlet electronic ground state. The analysis of the electronic structure shows that the complexes exhibit metal–ligand bonds that are typical for transition metal compounds. The chemical bonds can be explained in terms of weak donation from the π MOs of benzene ligands into the vacant (n?1)d AOs of M and strong backdonation from the occupied (n?1)d AO of M into vacant π* MOs of benzene ligands. The metals in these 20‐electron complexes have 18 effective valence electrons, and, thus, fulfill the 18‐electron rule if only the metal–ligand bonding electrons are counted. The results suggest that the heavier alkaline earth atoms exhibit the full bonding scenario of transition metals.  相似文献

Ion mobility mass spectrometry and PM7 semiempirical calculations are effective complementary methods to study gas phase formation of noncovalent complexes from vaselike macrocycles. The specific association of large‐ring chiral hexaimines, derived from enantiomerically pure trans‐1,2‐diaminocyclohexane and various isophthaldehydes, is driven mostly by CH–π and ππ stacking interactions. The isotrianglimine macrocycles are prone to form two types of aggregates: tail‐to‐tail and head‐to‐head (capsule) dimers. The stability of the tail‐to‐tail dimers is affected by the size and electronic properties of the substituents at the C‐5 position of the aromatic ring. Electron‐withdrawing groups stabilize the aggregate, whereas bulky or electron‐donating groups destabilize the complexes.  相似文献

A novel azo dye ligand, 2,2′‐(1,3‐phenylenebis(diazene‐2,1‐diyl))bis(4‐chlorophenol), was synthesized from the diazotization of m ‐phenelyenediamine and coupling with p ‐chlorophenol in alkaline medium. Mononuclear Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes of the azo ligand (H2L) were prepared and characterized using elemental analyses, infrared spectroscopy, electron spin resonance, magnetic susceptibility, conductance measurements and thermal analyses. The UV–visible, 1H NMR and mass spectra of the ligand and its chelates were also recorded. The analytical data showed that the metal‐to‐ligand ratio in the mononuclear azo complexes was 1:1. Diffuse reflectance and magnetic moment measurements revealed the complexes to have octahedral geometry. The infrared spectral data showed that the chelation behaviour of the ligand towards transition metal ions was through phenolic oxygen and azo nitrogen atoms. The electronic spectral results indicated the existence of π → π* (phenyl rings) and n → π* (─N═N) and confirmed the mentioned structure. Molar conductivity revealed the non‐electrolytic nature of all chelates. The presence of water molecules in all complexes was supported by thermal studies. Molecular docking was used to predict the binding between H2L and the receptors of breast cancer mutant 3hb5‐oxidoreductase, crystal structure of Escherichia coli (3 t88) and crystal structure of Staphylococcus aureus (3q8u). The molecular and electronic structure of H2L was optimized theoretically and the quantum chemical parameters were calculated. In addition, the effects of the H2L azo ligand and its complexes on the inhibition of bacterial or fungal growth were evaluated. The prepared complexes had enhanced activity against bacterial or fungal growth compared to the H2L azo ligand.  相似文献

The adsorption of propene on neutral gold clusters is investigated in a collision cell under a few collision conditions. The adsorption reaction is studied by pressure‐dependent kinetic measurements and delayed unimolecular dissociation of the excited Aun?propene complexes. The cluster size (n=9–25) and temperature (T=90–300 K) dependence of the propene adsorption is analyzed. Strong size dependences of the absorption reaction are observed; a larger propene adsorption probability was found for gold clusters composed of an even number of atoms. Propene binding energies are estimated by comparison of the temperature‐dependent unimolecular dissociation rates with rates obtained by using statistical RRKM modeling. The Aun–propene binding energies decrease non‐monotonously with cluster size and are in the range of 1.2–0.85 eV for n=9–25. Finally, the bonding of C3H6 on Aun is qualitatively described and similarities with the absorption of CO molecules on gold clusters are discussed.  相似文献

A discrete sequence of bare gold clusters of well‐defined nuclearity, namely Au25+, Au38+ and Au102+, formed in a process that starts from gold‐bound adducts of the protein lysozyme, were detected in the gas phase. It is proposed that subsequent to laser desorption ionization, gold clusters form in the gas phase, with the protein serving as a confining growth environment that provides an effective reservoir for dissipation of the cluster aggregation and stabilization energy. First‐principles calculations reveal that the growing gold clusters can be electronically stabilized in the protein environment, achieving electronic closed‐shell structures as a result of bonding interactions with the protein. Calculations for a cluster with 38 gold atoms reveal that gold interaction with the protein results in breaking of the disulfide bonds of the cystine units, and that the binding of the cysteine residues to the cluster depletes the number of delocalized electrons in the cluster, resulting in opening of a super‐atom electronic gap. This shell‐closure stabilization mechanism confers enhanced stability to the gold clusters. Once formed as stable magic number aggregates in the protein growth medium, the gold clusters become detached from the protein template and are observed as bare Aun+ (n=25, 38, and 102) clusters.  相似文献

It is well known that alkynes act as π‐acids in the formation of complexes with metals. We found unprecedented attractive Au–π interactions in diacetylene‐modified [core+exo]‐type [Au8]4+ clusters. The 4‐phenyl‐1,3‐butadiynyl‐modified cluster has unusually short Au–Cα distances in the crystal structure, revealing the presence of attractive interactions between the coordinating C≡C moieties and the neighboring bitetrahedral Au6 core, which is further supported by IR and NMR spectra. Such weak interactions are not found in mono‐acetylene‐modified clusters, which indicates that they are specific for diacetylenic ligands. The attractive Au–π interactions are likely associated with the low energy of the π* orbital in the diacetylenic moieties, into which the valence electrons of the gold core may be back donated. The [Au8]4+ clusters show clear red‐shifts of >10 nm with respect to the corresponding mono‐acetylenic clusters in UV/Vis absorption bands, which indicates substantial electronic perturbation effects of the Au–π interactions.  相似文献

B3 LYP hybrid functional with LACVP* pseudopotential was applied for the optimization of geometries of complexes resulting from interaction of benzene, pyridine, naphthalene, and quinoline with Ptn (n = 4, 7) clusters. For benzene‐containing complexes, the most stable form corresponds to a bridge adsorption, with benzene undergoing considerable geometric distortions, assuming a boat‐like conformation. C? H bonds are bended upward from the plane of the cluster. C? C bonds stretch, especially when they form π‐complexes with low coordinated Pt atoms. Some arrangements for pyridine complexes involving the N atom of the organic moiety undergo further distortions, apparently preserving a formal C? N π bond. Except for that distortion, the behavior of any heteroaromatic complex is similar to that of benzene in the same arrangement. The quinoline–Pt7 complex can suitably be used for simulation of the cinchonidine (CD) anchorage over Pt. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Int J Quantum Chem, 2003  相似文献

The formation of carbonaceous clusters in ion‐irradiated polymer films was investigated extensively. Information about these clusters may be obtained with ultraviolet–visible (UV–vis) spectroscopy. The optical band gap (Eg), calculated from the absorption edge of the UV spectra of these polymers, can be correlated to the number of carbon atoms (N) in a cluster with the modified Tauc equation. The structure of the cluster is also related to Eg; for example, a six‐membered‐benzene‐ring‐type structure has an Eg of ≈5.3 eV, whereas a buckminsterfullerene‐type structure has an Eg of ≈4.9 eV. These clusters are responsible for the electrical conductivity in these films. In this work, polycarbonate films (20 μm thick) were irradiated with 45‐MeV Li ions at fluences of 1 × 1012 to 1 × 1013 cm−2 and were characterized with UV–vis spectroscopy and impedance measurements. The Eg values, calculated from the absorption edge in the 280–315‐nm region with the Tauc relation, varied from 4.39 to 4.35 eV for the pristine and various irradiated samples, respectively. The cluster size showed a range of 60–62 carbon atoms per cluster. The sheet conductivity (σdc) and loss (tan δ) values of 10−16 Ω−1cm−1 and 10−3 for the pristine sample changed to 10−15 Ω−1cm−1 and 10−2, respectively, for the irradiated samples. This increase in the values of σdc and tan δ may be correlated to the increase in the size of the carbonaceous clusters. This study provides insight into the mechanism of electrical conductivity in irradiated polymers. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. J Polym Sci B: Polym Phys 38: 1589–1594, 2000  相似文献

The optical spectrum of a model oxyheme complex has been calculated using a new intermediate neglect of differential overlap (INDO-SCF-CI ) method that allows for the inclusion of configuration interaction and transition metals. In addition to the porphyrin π→π* transitions common to all heme proteins, four weak x,y polarized transitions observed only in oxyheme complexes have been calculated and assigned to excitations involving the lowest-empty highly delocalized (Oπ, dπ) orbital. Two broad z-polarized bands observed in the single-crystal polarized absorption spectra of oxymyoglobin and hemoglobin have also been calculated. Controversy exists over the assignment of these transitions and, in particular, over the extent of involvement of the oxygen ligand. Our calculations assign the weaker near-IR visible band mainly to the d σ dπ→ dπ* excitations and the more intense UV band mainly to a2udσ* excitations. While significant participation (25%) of the highly delocalized (Oπ, dπ) virtual orbital is also found, these z-polarized transitions need not be totally unique to oxyheme complexes, in keeping with experimental observation.  相似文献

A series of copper(II) complexes were synthesized by the reaction of copper(II) chlorid with 1‐phenyl‐3methyl‐(3‐dervitives phenylhydrazo)‐5‐pyrazolone (HLn) yields 1:1 and 1:2 (M:L) complexes depending on the reaction conditions. The elemental analysis, spectral (IR, 1H NMR, UV‐Vis and ESR), conductance and magnetic measurements were used to characterize the isolated complexes. The IR spectral data indicate that the metal ions are coordinated through the oxygen of the keto and nitrogen of hydrazone groups. The UV‐Vis spectra, magnetic moments and ESR studies indicate square planar geometry for Cu(II) complexes ( 1–3 ) by NO monobasic bidentate and the two monobasic trans bidentate in octahedral geometry for Cu(II) complexes ( 4–6 ). It is found that the change of substituent affects the theoretical calculations of Cu(II) complexes. Molecular docking was used to predict the binding between the ligands (HLn) and the receptors of prostate cancer mutant (2Q7K), breast cancer mutant (3HB5), crystal structure of E. coli (3T88) and crystal structure of S. aureus (3Q8U). The molecular and electronic structures of Cu(II) complexes and quantum chemical calculations were studied. According to intramolecular hydrogen bond leads to increasing of the complexes stability.  相似文献

Ground‐state equilibrium Born–Oppenheimer molecular dynamics on I?(H2O)3–5 clusters at ~200 K are performed to sample configurations for calculating the charge‐transfer‐to‐solvent (CTTS) absorption spectra for these clusters. When there are more water molecules in clusters, the calculated CTTS spectra are found to become more intense with the absorption maxima shifting to higher energies, which is in agreement with experimental results. In addition, compared with the findings for optimized structures, the absorption energies of the iodide 5p orbitals are red‐shifted at ~200 K because, on average, the distances between the iodide and the dangling hydrogen atoms are increased at finite temperatures which weakens the interactions between the iodide and water molecules in the clusters. Moreover, the number of ionic hydrogen bonds in the clusters are also reduced. However, it is found that all dangling hydrogen atoms must be considered to obtain a good correlation between the CTTS excitation energy and the average distance between the iodide and the dangling hydrogen atoms, which indicates the existence of the strong interactions of the CTTS electron with all of the dangling hydrogen atoms.  相似文献

A basic N,N‐dimethylaminoazobenzene–fullerene (C60) dyad molecular skeleton is modelled and synthesized. In spite of the myriad use of azobenzene as a photo‐ and electrochromic moiety, the idea presented herein is to adopt a conceptually different path by using it as a bridge in a donor–bridge–acceptor single‐molecular skeleton, connecting the electron acceptor N‐methylfulleropyrrolidine with an electron donor N,N‐dimethylaniline. Addition of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) results in a drastic colour change of the dyad from yellow to pink in dichloromethane (DCM). The structure of the protonated species are established from electronic spectroscopy and time‐dependent density functional theory (TD‐DFT) calculations. UV/Vis spectroscopic investigations reveal the disappearance of the 409 nm 1(π→π*) transition with appearance of new features at 520 and 540 nm, attributed to protonated β and α nitrogens, respectively, along with a finite weight of the C60 pyrrolidinic nitrogen. Calculations reveal intermixing of n(N?N)→π*(N?N) and charge transfer (CT) transitions in the neutral dyad, whereas, the n(N?N)→π*(N?N) transition in the protonated dyad is buried under the dominant 1(π →π*) feature and is red‐shifted upon Gaussian deconvolution. The experimental binding constants involved in the protonation of N,N‐dimethylanilineazobenzene and the dyad imply an almost equal probability of existence of both α‐ and β‐protonated forms. Larger binding constants for the protonated dyads imply more stable dyad complexes than for the donor counterparts. One of the most significant findings upon protonation resulted in frontier molecular orbital (FMO) switching with the dyad LUMO located on the donor part, evidenced from electrochemical investigations. The appearance of a new peak, prior to the first reduction potential of N‐methylfulleropyrrolidine, clearly indicates location of the first incoming electron on the donor‐centred LUMO of the dyad, corroborated by unrestricted DFT calculations performed on the monoanions of the protonated dyad. The protonation of the basic azo nitrogens thus enables a rational control over the energetics and location of the FMOs, indispensable for electron transport across molecular junctions in realizing futuristic current switching devices.  相似文献
