Given a positive measure Σ with gs > 1, we write ΜεΣ if Μ is a probability measure and Σ—Μ is a positive measure. Under some general assumptions on the constraining measure Σ and a weight functionw, we prove existence and uniqueness of a measure λΣ w that minimizes the weighted logarithmic energy over the class ℳΣ. We also obtain a characterization theorem, a saturation result and a balayage representation for the measure λΣ w As applications of our results, we determine the (normalized) limiting zero distribution for ray sequences of a class of orthogonal polynomials of a discrete variable. Explicit results are given for the class of Krawtchouk polynomials. The research done by this author is in partial fulfillment of the Ph.D. requirements at the University of South Florida. We study the approximation of functions f(z) that are analytic in a neighborhood of zero by finite sums of the form H n (z) = H n (h, f, {λ k }; z) = Σ k=1 n λ k h(λ k z), where h is a fixed function that is analytic in the unit disk |z| < 1 and the numbers λ k (which depend on h, f, and n) are calculated by a certain algorithm. An exact value of the radius of the convergence H n (z) → f(z), n, and an order-sharp estimate for the rate of this convergence are obtained; an application to numerical analysis is given.  相似文献

General results of interpolation (e.g., Nevanlinna-Pick) by elements in the noncommutative analytic Toeplitz algebraF (resp., noncommutative disc algebraA n) with consequences to the interpolation by bounded operator-valued analytic functions in the unit ball of ℂn are obtained. Noncommutative Poisson transforms are used to provide new von Neumann type inequalities. Completely isometric representations of the quotient algebraF /J on Hilbert spaces whereJ is anyw *-closed, 2-sided ideal ofF , are obtained and used to construct aw *-continuous,F /J-functional calculus associated to row contractionsT=[T 1,…,T n] whenf(T1, …, Tn)=0 for anyf∈J. Here proposed are certain asympotic expansion formulas for L n (∞-1) (λz) and C n (∞) (λz) in which 0<w=0(λ) and Cn/(w)(λz), z being a complex number. Also presented are certain estimates for the remainders (error bounds) of the asymptotic expansions within the regions D1(-∞<Rez<=1/2(ω/λ) and D2(1/2(ω/λ)<=Rez<∞), respectively. We use microlocal and paradifferential techniques to obtain L 8 norm bounds for spectral clusters associated with elliptic second-order operators on two-dimensional manifolds with boundary. The result leads to optimal L q bounds, in the range 2⩽q⩽∞, for L 2 - normalized spectral clusters on bounded domains in the plane and, more generally, for two-dimensional compact manifolds with boundary. We also establish new sharp L q estimates in higher dimensions for a range of exponents q̅nq⩽∞. In this paper, we prove the algebraic independence of the reciprocal sums of odd terms in Fibonacci numbers ∑ n=1 F 2n−1−1, ∑ n=1 F 2n−1−2, ∑ n=1 F 2n−1−3 and write each ∑ n=1 F 2n−1s (s≥4) as an explicit rational function of these three numbers over ℚ. Similar results are obtained for various series including the reciprocal sums of odd terms in Lucas numbers.   相似文献

Starting with an initial vector λ = (λ(κ))κ∈z ∈ ep(Z), the subdivision scheme generates asequence (Snaλ)∞n=1 of vectors by the subdivision operator Saλ(κ) = ∑λ(j)a(k - 2j), k ∈ Z. j∈zSubdivision schemes play an important role in computer graphics and wavelet analysis. It is very interesting tounderstand under what conditions the sequence (Snaλ)∞n=1 converges to an Lp-function in an appropriate sense.This problem has been studied extensively. In this paper we show that the subdivision scheme converges forany initial vector in ep(Z) provided that it does for one nonzero vector in that space. Moreover, if the integertranslates of the refinable function are stable, the smoothness of the limit function corresponding to the vectorλ is also independent of λ.  相似文献

Let λ>1. We prove that every separable Banach space E can be embedded isometrically into a separable ℒ λ -spaceX such thatX/E has the RNP and the Schur property. This generalizes a result in [2]. Various choices ofE allow us to answer several questions raised in the literature. In particular, takingE = ℓ2, we obtain a ℒ λ -spaceX with the RNP such that the projective tensor product containsc 0 and hence fails the RNP. An elementary proof of the (known) fact that each element of the Banach space w p (X) of weakly absolutelyp-summable sequences (if 1≤p<∞) in the Banach spaceX is the norm limit of its sections if and only if each element of w p (X) is a norm null sequence inX, is given. Little modification to this proof leads to a similar result for a family of Orlicz sequence spaces. In this paper, we prove the almost sure central limit theorem (ASCLT) and the function-typed almost sure central limit theorem (FASCLT) for the random function Tn. As a consequence, it can be shown that ASCLT and FASCLT also hold for U-statistics, Von-Mises statistics, linear processes, moving average processes, error variance estimates in linear models, power sums, product-limit estimators of a continuous distribution, product-limit estimators of a quantile function, etc.  相似文献
