The temporal history of the release of volatile alkali species during coal combustion is a significant, but poorly understood factor in the fouling and corrosion of heat transfer surfaces within industrial coal-fired boilers. We present new results of the simultaneous measurement of particle temperature, particle size and the atomic sodium concentration in the plume of a burning coal particle. During the char phase, the sodium concentration in the plume was found to be linearly dependent on the inverse of particle diameter, but during the ash phase the sodium concentration was found to decay exponentially with decreasing particle temperature. The centreline decay of Na within the plume above the burning particle consists of one region controlled by a first order chemical reaction and a second region controlled by diffusion.  相似文献

Interactions between isolated nucleosome core particles are studied as a function of the monovalent salt concentration by osmometry and by electrophoretic mobility measurements. The data are compared to the measurements performed on the protein-free DNA fragments and also analysed using the conventional theoretical approach. At low salt, an electrostatic screening effect accounts for the variation of the second virial coefficient whereas the simple hard-core contribution becomes predominant at high salt. In the intermediate range, an attraction occurs. In the light of previous results (Mangenot et al. Biophys. J. 82, 345 (2002)), we show that the flexible basic proteic tails are responsible for this attraction. A tail-bridging effect is discussed. Received 4 October 2001  相似文献

In total light scattering particle sizing technique, the relationship among Sauter mean diameter D32, mean extinction efficiency Q, and particle size distribution function is studied in order to inverse the mean diameter and particle size distribution simply. We propose a method which utilizes the mean extinction efficiency ratio at only two selected wavelengths to solve D32 and then to inverse the particle size distribution associated with (Q) and D32. Numerical simulation results show that the particle size distribution is inversed accurately with this method, and the number of wavelengths used is reduced to the greatest extent in the measurement range. The calculation method has the advantages of simplicity and rapidness.  相似文献

介绍了一种基于光纤气泡和纤芯失配的Mach-Zehnder干涉液体折射率传感器. 将两根纤芯经过腐蚀的普通单模光纤熔接在一起, 在熔接点处形成一个气泡, 在距气泡20 mm处级联一段20 mm的细芯光纤, 再接入一段单模光纤, 形成单模光纤-气泡-单模光纤-细芯光纤-单模光纤结构的传感器. 气泡与光纤芯径失配处的两个节点起到光纤耦合器的作用, 从而形成光纤Mach-Zehnder干涉仪. 环境液体折射率的变化,将使得传感器透射谱能量发生变化, 通过测量干涉谱波峰峰值能量从而实现对折射率的测量. 并对所制作传感器的折射率响应特性进行了实验研究, 实验结果表明干涉谱波峰峰值能量与环境液体折射率之间存在良好的线性关系, 当环境液体折射率变化范围在1.351–1.402时, 响应灵敏度为143.537 dB/RIU, 线性度0.996. 该传感器在生物化学领域有较好的应用前景. 关键词: 光纤气泡 纤芯失配 Mach-Zehnder干涉仪 折射率传感  相似文献

Magnetic particle imaging (MPI) is a powerful new research and diagnostic imaging platform that is designed to image the amount and location of superparamagnetic nanoparticles in biological tissue. Here, we present mathematical modeling results that show how MPI sensitivity and spatial resolution both depend on the size of the nanoparticle core and its other physical properties, and how imaging performance can be effectively optimized through rational core design. Modeling is performed using the properties of magnetite cores, since these are readily produced with a controllable size that facilitates quantitative imaging. Results show that very low detection thresholds (of a few nanograms Fe3O4) and sub-millimeter spatial resolution are possible with MPI.  相似文献

光散射技术通过测量悬浮液中布朗运动颗粒的平移扩散系数,得到颗粒流体力学直径或液体黏度.本文由单参数模型入手,建立了低颗粒浓度下,单颗粒平移扩散系数与颗粒集体平移扩散系数和颗粒浓度之间的线性依存关系并将其引入光散射法中,从而对现有的测量方法进行了改进.改进后的测量方法可实现纳米尺度球型颗粒标称直径的测量和液体黏度的绝对法测量.以聚苯乙烯颗粒+水和二氧化硅颗粒+乙醇两个分散系为参考样本,通过实验,验证了改进后方法的可行性.此外,还针对上述两个分散系,实验探讨了温度和颗粒浓度对颗粒集体平移扩散系数的影响规律,发现聚苯乙烯颗粒+水分散系中,颗粒间相互作用表现为引力;二氧化硅颗粒+乙醇分散系中,颗粒间相互作用表现为斥力.讨论了颗粒集体平移扩散系数随颗粒浓度变化规律与第二渗透维里系数的关系.  相似文献

A diagnostics method was presented that uses emission and scattering techniques to simultaneously determine the distributions of soot particle diameter and number density in hydrocarbon flames. Two manta G-504 C cameras were utilized for the scattering measurement, with consideration of the attenuation effect in the flames according to corresponding absorption coefficients. Distributions of soot particle diameter and number density were simultaneously determined using the measured scattering coefficients and absorption coefficients under multiple wavelengths already measured with a SOC701 V hyper-spectral imaging device, according to the Mie scattering theory. A flame was produced using an axisymmetric laminar diffusion flame burner with 194 mL/min ethylene and 284 L/min air, and distributions of particle diameter and number density for the flame were presented. Consequently, the distributions of soot volume fraction were calculated using these two parameters as well, which were in good agreement with the results calculated according to the Rayleigh approximation,demonstrating that the proposed diagnostic method is capable of simultaneous determination of the distributions of soot particle diameter and number density.  相似文献

The system of hard core particles interacting via slowly decreasing repulsions of a finite range is investitated both theoretically and experimentally. The exponential (EXP) approximation of simple fluids is extended to pure repulsive potentials and is found as an accurate and rapid method to obtaining the radial distribution function. While the results based on the blip-function approximation are accurate only for a short interaction range and/or very low densities, agreement between the EXP results and Monte Carlo simulation data is excellent for all the interaction ranges and densities considered.  相似文献

Nonlinear transmission of a cylindrically symmetric weakly guiding single-mode optical fiber with a sharp change of core diameter is estimated in the approximation of weak nonlinearity of the fiber material and is calculated by direct numerical simulation of light propagation. It is shown that an increase or a decrease of nonlinear transmission in comparison with the linear value depends on the way in which the width of the radial mode distribution changes with changing diameter of the structure. Domains of fiber diameters corresponding to an increase of nonlinear transmission in comparison with the linear value are determined.  相似文献

<正>An optical fiber evanescent wave methane gas sensor based on core diameter mismatch is reported.The sensor consists of a multimode fiber in which a short section of standard single-mode fiber,coated with the inclusion of cryptophane molecules E in a transparent polysiloxane film,is inserted.The sensing principle is analyzed by optical waveguide theory.For different sensing film thicknesses and interaction lengths,the sensor signal is investigated within the methane concentration range of 0-14.5%(v/v).It is shown that the sensor signal with the thickness of 5μm and the interaction length of 3 mm strengthens linearly with the increasing concentration of methane,with a slope of 0.0186.The best detection limit of the sensor for methane is 2.2%(v/v) with a response time of 90 s.This sensor is suitable for the detection of methane concentration below the critical value of 5%.  相似文献

In this paper, the bending loss and the mode field diameter (MFD) of the R-type depressed inner core triple clad single-mode optical fibers are investigated. The effects of the optical and geometrical parameters on the bending loss and the MFD are examined in these fibers. The simulation results indicate that with increasing of the core radius (a), which is desired from manufacturing point of view, the bending loss and MFD coefficients are decreased. Consequently, the large core radius can be used to optimize the bending loss in the foregoing fibers. In the meantime, simulation outcomes show that the Δ and Q have considerable impact on the bending loss in the RI and RII fibers, respectively. The MFD and bending loss is decreased with increasing of Δ, but the case is inversed for Q. Based on the presented simulations, it is found out that the bending loss strongly depends on the distribution profile of the electric field in the cladding region for a given MFD. In other words, the field amplitude and damping rate in the cladding region determine the fiber bending loss.  相似文献

For a standard or canonical ribbon from differential geometry the topological White’s theorem connects the linking number, writhe and total twist of the ribbon. Here we provide an integral expression, analog to the total twist of a canonical ribbon, that connects linking number and writhe of two curves that do not necessarily form a canonical ribbon. First, we apply this integral expression to derive an expression for the writhe of a polygonal curve. Second, but importantly, we revisit the lattice ribbon. Lattice ribbons were introduced some time ago to enable simulation of physical systems modeled by double stranded polymers. Application of the integral expression yields an algorithm for determining the twist of the lattice ribbon. An interesting relation between writhe of the center line of a lattice ribbon and its linking number follows.  相似文献

We consider how beads can diffuse along a chain that wraps them, without becoming displaced from the chain; our proposed mechanism is analogous to the reptation of "stored length" in more familiar situations of polymer dynamics. The problem arises in the case of globular aggregates of proteins (histones) that are wound by DNA in the chromosomes of plants and animals; these beads (nucleosomes) are multiply wrapped and yet are able to reposition themselves over long distances, while remaining bound by the DNA chain.  相似文献

We demonstrate that quark matter in the color-flavor locked phase of QCD is rigorously electrically neutral, despite the unequal quark masses, and even in the presence of an electron chemical potential. As long as the strange quark mass and the electron chemical potential do not preclude the color-flavor locked phase, quark matter is automatically neutral.
