In data from 100 GeV/c \(\bar p\) d, 200 GeV/cpd and 200 GeV/cπ ? d collisions there is evidence that the probability for a double-collisiondecreases slowly with increasing number of hadrons produced in the first projectile-nucleon collision. We argue that the presence of diquarks in baryons is the only plausible explanation of such an effect.  相似文献

In this work, we study the possibility of direct recovery of np helicity amplitudes, which are unknown at incident neutron energies T n > 1.1 GeV, and nn helicity amplitudes, which are unknown at any energy, from data on $\vec p + \vec d$ and $\vec n + \vec d$ scattering. For the inversion of $\vec N + \vec d$ data, we use formulas that relate N d- and NN amplitudes derived in terms of a refined Glauber model. It is found that the critical factors for solving the inverse problem under study are the accuracy and completeness of the set of input $\vec N + \vec d$ observables.  相似文献

We report on the p T dependence of nuclear modification factors (R CP) for K S 0 , ??, ?? and the $\bar NK_S^0 $ ratios at mid-rapidity from Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt {s_{NN} } $ = 39, 11.5 and 7.7 GeV. At $\sqrt {s_{NN} } $ = 39 GeV, the R CP data show a baryon/meson separation at intermediate p T and a suppression for K S 0 for p T up to 4.5 GeV/c; the $\bar \Lambda K_S^0 $ shows baryon enhancement in the most central collisions. However, at $\sqrt {s_{NN} } $ = 11.5 and 7.7 GeV, R CP shows less baryon/meson separation and $\bar NK_S^0 $ shows almost no baryon enhancement. These observations indicate that the matter created in Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt {s_{NN} } $ = 11.5 or 7.7 GeV might be distinct from that created at $\sqrt {s_{NN} } $ = 39 GeV.  相似文献

Inclusive and semi-inclusive production of Λ and \(\bar \Lambda\) inK + p interactions is studied at an incident momentum of 70 GeV/c. Cross sections and single particle distributions are presented and compared with data at lower energies. Scaling is observed between 32 and 70 GeV/c in the Feynmanx variable in the target and the beam fragmentation regions for Λ and \(\bar \Lambda\) inclusive production respectively. An increase of Λ ( \(\bar \Lambda\) ) production is observed in the beam (target) fragmentation regions, whereas the data at 70 and 32 GeV/c are reasonably close in the central region. The dependence of the Λ( \(\bar \Lambda\) ) polarization as a function ofx is measured and found to be in general agreement with the results at 32 GeV/c. The (Λ \(\bar \Lambda\) ) pair production cross section increases significantly from 32 to 70 GeV/c. The Λ and \(\bar \Lambda\) production associated with an identified proton is also studied.  相似文献

We have investigated the properties of off-shell \(\bar K\) K and \(\bar p\) p annihilations into pions by using the interactionsK ? p → Λ + pions at 4.2 GeV/c. The properties considered are multiplicities, hadronic temperatures and angular distributions. These properties appear more akin to those of \(\bar p\) p annihilations in flight than to that of \(\bar p\) p annihilation at rest despite the fact that the annihilation energy is small.  相似文献

Event rates and distributions for high mass gluinos and squarks are computed at Tevatron collider energies, imposing experimentally realisticP T cuts. Gluino and squark masses can be probed up to 200 GeV at \(\sqrt s = 2 TeV\) , and up to about 150 GeV at \(\sqrt s = 1.6 TeV\) with the supersymmetric signal being much more enhanced relative to the standard model background than at CERN \(\bar p\) energies. If the CERN UA1 missing-p T events are indeed indicative for the existence of gluinos and/or squarks with masses of about 50–70 GeV, then the Fermilab collider experiments should easily confirm the expected huge supersymmetric signals.  相似文献

Antilambda production is studied inK ? p interactions at 32 GeV/c. Both total and differential cross sections are presented. The inclusive \(\bar \Lambda \) production cross section amounts to 109±7 μb. A remarkable energy dependence is observed, σ( \(\bar \Lambda \) ) increasing by a factor of four between 14.3 and 32 GeV/c. Thep 2 distribution exhibits an exponential fall-off with a slope of 3.3±0.2 (GeV/c)?2. Most of the \(\bar \Lambda \) 's are emitted in the forward hemisphere. The invariantx distribution increases between 14.3 and 32 GeV/c. Data are presented for \(\bar \Lambda \) production inK - p→Λ \(\bar \Lambda \) +X K - p \(\bar \Lambda \) K n +X, andK - p \(\bar \Lambda \) p+X.  相似文献

A complete set of the data onpp andp \(\bar p\) scattering including measurements in the Coulomb interference region are analised to discover crossingodd effects in soft collisions. It is shown that the odderon is unable to produce a significant increase in ReA/ImA at \(\sqrt s = 546\) GeV. Moreover, the data give preference to that odderon which makes negative contribution to Re \(A_{p\bar p} \) and ceases the decrease of difference inp \(\bar p\) andpp total cross-sections.  相似文献

Two measurements related to the proton and antiproton production near midrapidity in \(\sqrt {s_{{NN}}} = 7.7\) , 11.5, 19.6, 27, 39, 62.4 and 200 GeV Au+Au collisions using the STAR detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) are discussed. At intermediate impact parameters, the net-proton midrapidity dv 1/dy, where v 1 and y are directed flow and rapidity, respectively, shows non-monotonic variation as a function of beam energy. This non-monotonic variation is characterized by the presence of a minimum in dv 1/dy between \(\sqrt {s_{NN}} = 11.5\) and 19.6 GeV and a change in the sign of dv 1/dy twice between \(\sqrt {s_{{NN}}}\) = 7.7 and 39 GeV. At small impact parameters the product of the moments of net-proton distribution, kurtosis × variance (κ σ 2) and skewness × standard deviation (S σ) are observed to be significantly below the corresponding measurements at large impact parameter collisions for \(\sqrt {s_{{NN}}}\) = 19.6 and 27 GeV. The κ σ 2 and S σ values at these beam energies deviate from the expectations from Poisson statistics and that from a hadron resonance gas model. Both these measurements have implications towards understanding the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) phase structures, the first-order phase transition and the critical point in the high baryonic chemical potential region of the phase diagram.  相似文献

The results of an analysis of streamer chamber data from the NA5 experiment are presented. Topological cross sections forpp and \(\bar p\) p interactions and strange neutral particle production at 200 GeV/c have been measured and ( \(\bar p\) p?pp) difference cross sections have been determined. Multiplicity moments were calculated.  相似文献

High-energyp \(\bar p\) collisions provide many quantitative tests of the standard model. Of particular interest are “hard scattering” processes, which test not only standard model matrix elements and higher order perturbative corrections, but also the distributions of quarks and gluons in the colliding hadrons. We present detailed comparisons of data from the CERNSp \(\bar p\) S collider with theory, incorporating up-to-date parton distributions derived from recent deep inelastic scattering data. Encouraged by the excellent agreement between data and theory at \(\sqrt s \) =630GeV, we present a complete set of “benchmark” predictions for the FNALp \(\bar p\) collider at \(\sqrt s \) =1.8TeV.  相似文献

The inclusive proton diffraction dissociation cross sections in 16, 32, and 110 GeV/cK ? p interactions are determined from the spike nearx=1 in the inclusive negative particle spectra and are compared to those obtained inK?p interactions using other selection methods at various energies. The same procedure is applied to events containing aV 0 in order to obtain the cross section for diffractive \(s\bar s\) production. While the total cross section for proton diffraction is found to be approximately constant in the energy range studied here, proton diffraction yielding an \(s\bar s - pair\) is found to increase significantly. In particular it is almost constant at 85 μb forΛ 0 and Σ production but for \(NK\bar K\) it rises from zero at 16 GeV.c to about 200 μb at 110 GeV/c. From the result for \(s\bar s\) diffractive production an estimate for the \(c\bar c\) diffractive production cross section of approximately 1–10 μb at 110 GeV/c is obtained.  相似文献

The possibility of measuring the proton electromagnetic form factors in the time-like region at FAIR with the $ \overline{{P}}$ ANDA detector is discussed. Detailed simulations on signal efficiency for the annihilation of $ \bar{{p}}$ + p into a lepton pair as well as for the most important background channels have been performed. It is shown that precise measurements of the differential cross-section of the reaction $ \bar{{p}}$ + p $ \rightarrow$ e - + e + can be obtained in a wide kinematical range. The determination of the ratio R of the moduli of the electric and magnetic proton form factors will be possible up to a value of momentum transfer squared of q 2 ? 14 (GeV/c)^2 with absolute precision from 0.01 to 0.5 (for R ~ 1 . The total $ \bar{{p}}$ + p $ \rightarrow$ e - + e + cross-section will be measured up to q 2 ? 28 (GeV/c)^2. The results obtained from simulated events are compared to the existing data. Sensitivity to the two-photon exchange mechanism is also investigated.  相似文献

Perturbative QCD is shown to be in quantitative agreement with one-and two-jet production data in the range \(27 \lesssim \sqrt s \lesssim 900GeV\) GeV forP T(jet)?5 GeV. The integrated jet yield above a fixedP T(parton)?3 GeV accounts for the \(\bar pp\) inelastic cross section rise in the same range. QCD predictions for jet yields up to \(\sqrt s = 40TeV\) are presented and the role of non-perturbative corrections, ultimately saving unitarity, is briefly discussed.  相似文献

We have analysed ourpn data at 400 GeV (corresponding to a centre-of-mass energy \(\sqrt s = 27.5\) GeV) together with otherpp and \(p\bar p\) data in the centre of mass energy range 11.5–900 GeV. The fits of all these distributions to a negative binomial distribution are performed. The variations in the fitted average multiplicity and in the inverse of the fitted parameterk are obtained with respect to the centre of mass energy. An assessment of the single diffractive component in the multiplicity distribution is made and its variation with the centre of mass energy discussed. The average number of clans and the average charged multiplicity per clan are determined and the centre of mass energy dependences shown.  相似文献

We present a study of \(B\bar B\) meson pair production inπ ? interactions at 140, 194 and 286 GeV incident pion energy. At 286 GeV, where we have the best statistics, we find a model-dependent \(B\bar B\) production cross-section \(\sigma _{BB} = 14_{ - 6}^{ + 7} nb/nucleon\) .  相似文献

Charged hadron multiplicity distributions in \(\bar v_\mu n\) and \(\bar v_\mu p\) interactions in the energy range \(5< E_{\bar v}< 150GeV\) GeV are presented. They are obtained from about \(6000\bar v_\mu \) charged current events produced in BEBC filled with deuterium. Multiplicity moments are studied as a function of the invariant mass of the hadronic systemW. Results on multiplicity distributions in the forward and backward directions in the hadronic c.m.s. are presented and discussed within the framework of the quark parton model. Values for the average charge of the forward jet are also determined and compared with other experimental data.  相似文献

A composite model of fermions is proposed to explain the “anomaly” in $Z \to b\bar b$ and, to a lesser extent, in $Z \to c\bar c$ It contains a nonsequential fourth family whose mass of one member (the charge ? 1/3 quark) is constrained to be between 47 GeV and 49 GeV. The charge + 2/3 quark is constrained to lie between 67 GeV and 107 GeV. This opens up the exciting prospect for nearfuture discoveries at LEP2 and possibly at the Tevatron.  相似文献

A partial wave analysis of theK \(\bar K\) system produced by 8.25 GeV/cK ? mesons in the reaction \(K^ - p \to K\bar K\Lambda ^{ 0} \) has been performed, taking into account the information provided by the Λ0 decay. Thef′ region is dominated byD 0 (?) andD 1 (+) waves. We see no evidence for the production of new 0++ states in the mass region 1.05 to 1.75 GeV.  相似文献

We present a study of the inclusive production ofK *(892) and ∑t+-(1385)+cc at 3.6 GeV/c from \(\bar p\) p interactions. The sensitivity of the exposure is 35.4 events/μb. Longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions are presented. The indirect production ofK s 0 from parentK * and that of Λ's from parent Σ(1385) are studied. The shape of thex distribution of Λ's for \(p\xrightarrow{{\bar p}}\Lambda \) are calculated from \(p\xrightarrow{p}\Lambda \) and \(p\xrightarrow{{\pi ^ - }}\Lambda \) and compared with the experimental distributions. The difference of antiparticle production cross-section ofK s 0 in the central region is compared with the expectation from Mueller-Regge formalism.  相似文献
