The article presents an overview of the topic of Web access for people with disabilities. First, we describe the four basic disabilities and explain the benefits of making sites accessible, as well as the reasons that more sites are not accessible. We review the relevant laws regarding Web access, and then discuss efforts being made by vendors and professional organizations, especially Microsoft and the World Wide Web Consortium, to encourage accessibility. Finally, we describe major resources that Web developers might consult to assist them in making their sites accessible to people with disabilities  相似文献

In this article we introduce CONNECT, an infrastructure running on small wireless devices (e.g., PDA phones) and servers that aids people with disabilities in leading their everyday lives. We refer to the target (client) devices as personal portable devices (PPDs). The architecture of the CONNECT system is described, with emphasis on the accessibility services provided to its clients. As an example, the reminder service of CONNECT is profiled where care providers and community organizers (or general users who have appropriate rights) can send timely reminders to the PPD owners, giving them a chance to respond to these messages. In conjunction with the connect project, 600 PPDs are deployed to people with disabilities for evaluation purposes.  相似文献

The purpose of this review article is to explore a new paradigm on healthcare assessment and intervention practices for students with learning, physical and/or sensory disabilities. The perspective presented here is regarded as patient centric and relies on ICTs, in order to address evidence–based treatment and care, meeting every individual’s health profile, with regard to his or her needs, preferences, goals and culture. Patient-centric ICTs based approach has an impact on healthcare systems, introducing a multi-disciplinary care planning that overcomes individual, professional and organizational barriers, reduces anxiety and establishes better understanding with the student at the center.Generally, results show the impact of the interoperability of healthcare information between patients’ healthcare record and information systems which facilitate healthcare systems to be lifesaving if available at the time of medical examination. When medical treatment is combined with ICTs based methods and applications such as Serious Games, Mobile Assistive Technologies applications, Telehealth Systems and Virtual Training, patients with learning, physical and/or sensory disabilities can benefit from a cost-effective and flexible network model while having their customized needs fully examined and resolved.The articles presented within this review demonstrate that ICTs based patient-centeredness for students with learning, physical and/or sensory disabilities is associated with better (functional) outcomes leading to quality of life and inclusion, improved quality of care, fewer problem behaviors, higher levels of health-related autonomy and greater patient satisfaction.  相似文献

This study explores the main motivations for continued use of smart devices among adults with movement or mobility impairments in South Korea. The study analyzed data collected through a survey and focus group interviews. Results from the analyses of the two different sets of data indicated that people with physical disabilities viewed smart devices as a necessity and intended to continue use of smart devices primarily for practical purposes—especially for emergency contact—rather than for entertainment or social purposes. Results from the focus group interviews particularly suggested that the sense of autonomy obtained through the use of smart devices was an important motivation for use in this specific group, suggesting that smart devices play a crucial role in elevating the quality of life of people with disabilities.  相似文献

1引言 从1980年开始,使用金属化膜以及膜上金属分割技术的DC滤波电容得到了长足的发展。在过去多年的发展中,电容的体积和重量减小了3到4倍。现在薄膜生产商开发出了更薄的膜,同时改进了金属化的分割技术,极大的帮助了这种电容的发展。用干式设计,使膜电容能够比电解电容更加经济地覆盖600VDC到1200VDC之间的电压范围。根据应用,在电压超过1200VDC时,填注菜籽油的电容被推荐使用。  相似文献
