External confinement by the wrapping of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) sheets is a very effective method for the strengthening and retrofit of round concrete columns. The stability and strength of concrete columns confined by carbon FRP jackets in which the fibers are oriented in the hoop direction was studied. Stability tests were conducted on hinged plain and confined concrete columns of different slenderness. The theoretically predicted critical stress at the on set of in stability was compared with that obtained experimentally, and a good agreement between them was observed. The results of tests on continuous steel-fiber-reinforced concrete (RC) beams, with and without an external strengthening, are presented. The internal flexural steel reinforcement was designed so that to allow steel yielding before the collapse of the beams. To prevent the shear failure, steel stirrups were used. The tests also included two nonstrengthened control beams; the other specimens were strengthened with different configurations of externally bonded carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates. In order to prevent the premature failure from delamination of the CFRP strengthening, a wrapping was also applied. The experimental results obtained show that it is possible to achieve a sufficient degree of moment redistribution if the strengthening configuration is chosen properly, confirming the results provided by two simple numerical models. The strength and fracture mechanism of the contact zone between a carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) and concrete in flexural structural elements is investigated. Two methods for calculating the shear force in the contact zone are considered, one of which takes into account the compliance of the zone and gives results agreeing rather well with experimental data for beams, regardless of the way the CFRP is fastened to concrete. The method of shear stresses is good for beams with in significant shear strains between CFRP and concrete. A method allowing for hardening of the contact zone is suggested. This paper provides mathematical modelling for prefabricated timber-framed walls composed of a timber frame and fibre-plaster boards. Because the tensile strength of the fibre-plaster boards is approximately 10-times lower than the compressive one, it is convenient to strengthen the boards in their tensile diagonal direction with carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) strips, which are glued to the boards. Based on analysis of experimental research results [M. Premrov, P. Dobrila, B.S. Bedenik, Analysis of timber-framed walls coated with CFRP strips strengthened fibre-plaster boards, Int. J. Solids Struct. 41 (24/25) (2004) 7035–7048] special approximate mathematical models have been developed. The models enable simultaneously to consider the influence of inserted CFRP strips, flexibility of mechanical fasteners in the connecting areas and any appearing of tensile cracks in the coating boards.  相似文献

This research deals with RC beams strengthened with FRP. An experimental research is presented which is aimed at evaluating the capability of an experimental modal analysis to assess the stiffness decrease due to damage, as well as the stiffness recovery due to strengthening. Ten beams were tested. All of them were subjected to loading cycles with increasing load levels in order to induce cracking of different severity in them. The beams were then retrofitted by externally bonded FRP sheets. Three types of composites were used. The number of layers was varied, too. Modal tests were carried out after each loading-unloading cycle. The modal frequencies and damping ratios were determined for the first four vibration modes. The results obtained indicate that an experimental modal analysis can give useful information on the severity of damage and the effectiveness of strengthening. For strengthening bent beams, plates of reinforced plastics are glued to their tensioned surface. As s result, the beam becomes layered, and it is possible to control its rigidity and deflection. Based on the methods of structural mechanics of layered media, a method is elaborated for determining the deflection of such beams on the entire range of loading up to their ultimate failure. The paper presents results of an experimental investigations carried out to estimate the cooperation between a steel bar reinforcement and round concrete cylinders confined by a carbon-epoxy composite, concerning the increase in the concrete compression strength due the composite wrapping. The steel bar reinforcement with its yield stress considerably increases the bearing capacity of concrete. This also happens above the unconfined concrete strength of specimens. A finite-element model of a reinforced concrete beam with rebars modeled by a 3-D deformable body has been developed. An analysis of the stress-strain state of the beam allowed us to determine the stress distribution on cross sections of the rebars and the location of zones with cracks in concrete. The proposed approach is based on the generalization of the “freezing” method for ordinary differential equations. This article deals with the analytic and numerical stability of numerical methods for a parabolic partial differential equation with piecewise continuous arguments of alternately retarded and advanced type. First, application of the theory of separation of variables in matrix form and the Fourier method, the necessary and sufficient condition under which the analytic solution is asymptotically stable is derived. Then, the θ‐methods are applied to solve the corresponding initial value problem, the sufficient conditions for the asymptotic stability of numerical methods are obtained. This paper investigates the set stability of probabilistic Boolean networks (PBNs) with switching topology. To deal with this problem, two novel concepts, set reachability and the largest invariant set family, are defined. By constructing an auxiliary system, the necessary and sufficient conditions for verifying set reachability are given and the calculation method for the largest invariant set family is obtained. Based on these two results, an equivalent condition of set stability is derived, which can be used to determine whether a PBN with switching topology can be stabilized to a given set. In addition, the design method of switching signal is proposed by combining the characteristic of the largest invariant set family, and a numerical example is reported to demonstrate the efficiency of presented approach.  相似文献

We proposed a nutrient-phytoplankton interaction model with a discrete and distributed time delay to provide a better understanding of phytoplankton growth dynamics and nutrient-phytoplankton oscillations induced by delay. Standard linear analysis indicated that delay can induce instability of a positive equilibrium via Hopf bifurcation. We derived the conditions guaranteeing the existence of Hopf bifurcation and tracked its direction and the stability of the bifurcating periodic solutions. We also obtained the sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability of the unique positive steady state. Numerical analysis in the fully nonlinear regime showed that the stability of the positive equilibrium is sensitive to changes in delay values under select conditions. Numerical results were consistent with results predicted by linear analysis.  相似文献

This paper analyzes the stability of activation-inhibition Boolean networks with stochastic function structures. First, the activation-inhibition Boolean networks with stochastic function structures are converted to the form of logical networks by the method of semitensor product of matrices. Second, based on the obtained algebraic forms, we use matrices to denote the index set of possible logical operators and transition probabilities for activation-inhibition Boolean networks. Third, equivalence criterions are presented for the stabilities analysis of activation-inhibition Boolean networks with stochastic function structures.
