[reaction: see text] Laser flash photolysis (LFP, 266 nm) of carboethoxyazide produces a mixture of the ethoxycarbonyl radical (lambda(max) = 333 nm, tau = 0.4 micros, CF(2)ClCFCl(2), ambient temperature) and triplet carboethoxynitrene (lambda(max) = 400 nm, tau = 1.5 micros, CF(2)ClCFCl(2), ambient temperature). The carbon-centered radical is selectively scavenged by oxygen allowing sole observation of the triplet nitrene. We deduce that the singlet nitrene has a lifetime between 2 and 10 ns in CF(2)ClCFCl(2) at ambient temperature.  相似文献

Molecular modeling demonstrates that the first excited state of the triplet ketone (T1K) in azide 1b has a (pi,pi*) configuration with an energy that is 66 kcal/mol above its ground state and its second excited state (T2K) is 10 kcal/mol higher in energy and has a (n,pi*) configuration. In comparison, T1K and T2K of azide 1a are almost degenerate at 74 and 77 kcal/mol above the ground state with a (n,pi*) and (pi,pi*) configuration, respectively. Laser flash photolysis (308 nm) of azide 1b in methanol yields a transient absorption (lambdamax=450 nm) due to formation of T1K, which decays with a rate of 2.1 x 105 s-1 to form triplet alkylnitrene 2b (lambdamax=320 nm). The lifetime of nitrene 2b was measured to be 16 ms. In contrast, laser flash photolysis (308 nm) of azide 1a produced transient absorption spectra due to formation of nitrene 2a (lambdamax=320 nm) and benzoyl radical 3a (lambdamax=370 nm). The decay of 3a is 2 x 105 s-1 in methanol, whereas nitrene 2a decays with a rate of approximately 91 s-1. Thus, T1K (pi,pi*) in azide 1b leads to energy transfer to form nitrene 2b; however, alpha-cleavage is not observed since the energy of T2K (n,pi*) is 10 kcal/mol higher in energy than T1K, and therefore, T2K is not populated. In azide 1a both alpha-cleavage and energy transfer are observed from T1K (n,pi*) and T2K (pi,pi*), respectively, since these triplet states are almost degenerate. Photolysis of azide 1a yields mainly product 4, which must arise from recombination of benzoyl radicals 3a with nitrenes 2a. However, products studies for azide 1b also yield 4b as the major product, even though laser flash photolysis of azide 1b does not indicate formation of benzoyl radical 3b. Thus, we hypothesize that benzoyl radicals 3 can also be formed from nitrenes 2. More specifically, nitrene 2 does undergo alpha-photocleavage to form benzoyl radicals and iminyl radicals. The secondary photolysis of nitrenes 2 is further supported with molecular modeling and product studies.  相似文献

The photochemistry of ortho-biphenyl azide (1a) has been studied by laser flash photolysis (LFP), with UV-vis and IR detection of the transient intermediates formed. LFP (266 nm) of 1a in glassy 3-methylpentane at 77 K releases singlet ortho-biphenylnitrene (1b) (lambda(max) = 410 nm, tau = 59 +/- 6 ns), which under these conditions decays cleanly to the lower energy triplet state. In fluid solution at 298 K, 1b rapidly (tau < 10 ns) partitions between formation of isocarbazole (4) (lambda(max) = 430 nm, tau = 70 ns) and benzazirine (1e) (lambda(max) = 305 nm, tau = 12 ns). Isocarbazole 4 undergoes a 1,5-hydrogen shift, with k(H)/k(D) = 3.4 at 298 K to form carbazole 9 and smaller amounts of two other isocarbazoles (7 and 8). Benzazirine 1e ring-opens reversibly to azacycloheptatetraene (1f), which serves as a reservoir for singlet nitrene 1b. Azacycloheptatetraene 1f ultimately forms carbazole 9 on the millisecond time scale by the pathway 1f --> 1e --> 1b --> 4 --> 9. The energies of the transient intermediates and of the transition structures connecting them were successfully predicted by CASPT2/6-31G calculations. The electronic and vibrational spectra of the intermediates, computed by density functional theory, support the assignment of the transient spectra, observed in the formation of 9 from 1a.  相似文献

The photoreactivity of (3-methyl-2H-azirin-2-yl)-phenylmethanone, 1, is wavelength-dependent (Singh et al. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 1972, 94, 1199-1206). Irradiation at short wavelengths yields 2P, whereas longer wavelengths produce 3P. Laser flash photolysis of 1 in acetonitrile using a 355 nm laser forms its triplet ketone (T(1K), broad absorption with λ(max) ~ 390-410 nm, τ ~ 90 ns), which cleaves and yields triplet vinylnitrene 3 (broad absorption with λ(max) ~ 380-400 nm, τ = 2 μs). Calculations (B3LYP/6-31+G(d)) reveal that T(1K) of 1 is located 67 kcal/mol above its ground state (S(0)) and has a long C-N bond (1.58 ?), and the calculated transition state to form 3 is only 1 kcal/mol higher in energy than T(1K) of 1. The calculations show that 3 has significant 1,3-carbon iminyl biradical character, which explains why 3 reacts efficiently with oxygen and decays by intersystem crossing to the singlet surface. Photolysis of 1 in argon matrixes at 14 K produced ketene imine 7, which presumably is formed from 3 intersystem crossing to 7. In comparison, photolysis of 1 in methanol with a 266 nm laser produces mainly ylide 2 (λ(max) ~ 380 nm, τ ~ 6 μs, acetonitrile), which decays to form 2P. Ylide 2 is formed via singlet reactivity of 1, and calculations show that the first singlet excited state of the azirine chromophore (S(1A)) is located 113 kcal/mol above its S(0) and that the singlet excited state of the ketone (S(1K)) is 85 kcal/mol. Furthermore, the transition state for cleaving the C-C bond in 1 to form 2 is located 49 kcal/mol above the S(0) of 1. Thus, we theorize that internal conversion of S(1A) to a vibrationally hot S(0) of 1 forms 2, whereas intersystem crossing from S(1K) to T(1K) results in 3.  相似文献

Steady state and laser flash photolysis (LFP) of a series of p-X-cumyl phenyl sulfides (4-X-C(6)H(4)C(CH(3))(2)SC(6)H(5): 1, X = Br; 2, X = H; 3, X = CH(3); 4, X = OCH(3)) and p-X-cumyl p-methoxyphenyl sulfides (4-X-C(6)H(4)C(CH(3))(2)SC(6)H(4)OCH(3): 5, X = H; 6, X = CH(3); 7, X = OCH(3)) has been carried out in the presence of N-methoxy phenanthridinium hexafluorophosphate (MeOP(+)PF(6)(-)) under nitrogen in MeCN. Steady state photolysis showed the formation of products deriving from the C-S bond cleavage in the radical cations 1(+?)-7(+?) (2-aryl-2-propanols and diaryl disulfides). Formation of 1(+?)-7(+?) was also demonstrated by LFP experiments evidencing the absorption bands of the radical cations 1(+?)-3(+?) (λ(max) = 530 nm) and 5(+?)-7(+?) (λ(max) = 570 nm) mainly localized in the arylsulfenyl group and radical cation 4(+?) (λ(max) = 410, 700 nm) probably mainly localized in the cumyl ring. The radical cations decayed by first-order kinetics with a process attributable to the C-S bond cleavage. On the basis of DFT calculations it has been suggested that the conformations most suitable for C-S bond cleavage in 1(+?)-4(+?) and 7(+?) are characterized by having the C-S bond almost collinear with the π system of the cumyl ring and by a significant charge and spin delocalization from the ArS ring to the cumyl ring. Such a delocalization is probably at the origin of the observation that the rates of C-S bond cleavage result in very little sensitivity to changes in the C-S bond dissociation free energy (BDFE). A quite large reorganization energy value (λ = 43.7 kcal mol(-1)) has been calculated for the C-S bond scission reaction in the radical cation. This value is much larger than that (λ = 12 kcal mol(-1)) found for the C-C bond cleavage in bicumyl radical cations, a reaction that also leads to cumyl carbocations.  相似文献

The 4-methoxyphenylium ion has been generated in the triplet state ((3)An(+)) by photolysis of 4-chloroanisole in polar media and detected by flash photolysis (lambda(max)=400 nm). This is the first detection of a phenylium ion in solution by flash photolysis and the assignment is supported by time-dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations. In neat solvents, the cation was reduced to anisole, a process initiated by electron transfer from the starting compound ((3)An(+)+AnCl-->An(*)+AnCl(*+), with the radical cation detected at 470 nm, then An(*)-->AnH). Addition of pi nucleophiles to the (3)An(+) cation offers a novel access to a number of other cationic intermediates under mild, nonacidic conditions. Two intermediates are successively formed with alkenes, a diradical cation and the phenonium ion, which are detected at 440 and 320 nm, respectively, by flash photolysis and are in accordance with calculations. Allylanisoles or beta-alkoxyalkylanisoles are the end products, with a small amount of alpha-alkoxyalkylanisoles that arises from a Wagner-Meerwein rearrangement to form benzyl cations. Further intermediates that have been predicted and detected are the phenylvinylium ion, possibly in equilibrium with the vinylenephenonium ion, with 1-hexyne (lambda(max)=340 nm) and the benzenium ion with benzene (lambda(max)=380 nm). The final products were anisylhexyne and methoxybiphenyl (an analogous product and intermediate were detected with thiophene).  相似文献

We report the first detection of triplet alkyl nitrenes in fluid solution by laser flash photolysis of alpha-azido acetophenone derivatives, 1. Alphazides 1 contain an intramolecular triplet sensitizer, which ensures formation of the triplet alkyl nitrene by bypassing the singlet nitrene intermediate. At room temperature, azides 1 cleave to form benzoyl and methyl azide radicals in competition with triplet energy transfer to form triplet alkyl nitrene. The major photoproduct 3 arises from interception of the triplet alkyl nitrene with benzoyl radicals. The triplet alkyl nitrene intermediates are also trapped with molecular oxygen to yield the corresponding 2-nitrophenylethanone. Laser flash photolysis of 1 reveals that the triplet alkyl nitrenes have absorption around 300 nm. The triplet alkyl nitrenes were further characterized by obtaining their UV and IR spectra in argon matrices. (13)C and (15)N isotope labeling studies allowed us to characterize the C-N stretch of the nitrene intermediate at 1201 cm(-)(1).  相似文献

The 355 nm laser flash photolysis of nalidixic acid at pH 9.2 leads to the formation of the nalidixate anion triplet state (absorption lambda max = 620 nm; 5700 less than or equal to epsilon T less than or equal to 9000 M-1cm-1; 0.6 less than or equal to phi T less than or equal to 1). The first order triplet state decay (kT = 7.7 x 10(3) s-1) is accompanied by a diffusion controlled triplet-triplet annihilation. Oxygen efficiently quenches the triplet state (k = 3.2 x 10(9) M-1s-1). The nalidixate radical dianion (absorption lambda max = 650 nm; epsilon = 3000 M-1cm-1) is produced by the diffusion controlled reductive quenching of the triplet state by tryptophan and tyrosine. The superoxide anion (O2-.) is produced by diffusion controlled reaction of the radical dianion with oxygen. The O2-. is characterized by its reactions with ferricytochrome c and superoxide dismutase. The physiological form of nalidixic acid is thus a good Type I and Type II photosensitizer.  相似文献

Photochemical profiles of omega-cleavage of carbon-X (X = Br and Cl) bonds in m-bromo- and m-chloromethylbenzophenones (m-BMBP and m-CMBP) were investigated by laser photolysis techniques and DFT calculations. m-BMBP and m-CMBP were found to undergo omega-bond cleavage to yield the m-benzoylbenzyl radical (m-BBR) at 295 K, and the quantum yields were determined. No CIDEP signal was detected upon 308 nm laser photolysis of both the compounds. From these observations, it was inferred that the omega-bond of these m-halomethylbenzophenones (m-HMBP) cleaves in the lowest excited singlet state (S(1)(n,pi(*))) upon direct excitation. Upon triplet sensitization of acetone (Ac), the m-BBR formation was observed in transient absorption for an Ac-m-BMBP system, and an efficiency of the C-Br bond cleavage in the lowest triplet state (T(1)(n,pi(*))) of m-BMBP was determined. In contrast, formation of triplet m-CMBP was seen for an Ac-m-CMBP system. Absence of C-Cl bond cleavage in the triplet state of m-CMBP indicated the reactive state of m-CMBP for omega-cleavage is only the S(1)(n,pi(*)) state. Based on the efficiencies and DFT calculations for excited state energies, photoinduced omega-bond dissociation of m- and p-HMBPs was characterized.  相似文献

Both the neurotransmitter serotonin and the unnatural amino acid 5-hydroxytryptophan (5HT), contain the 5-hydroxyindole chromophore. The photochemistry of 5HT is being investigated in relation to the multiphoton excitation of this chromophore to produce a characteristic photoproduct with green fluorescence ('hyperluminescence'). Laser flash photolysis (308 nm) of 5HT in aqueous solution at neutral pH produces both the neutral 5-indoloxyl radical (lambda(max) 400-420 nm) and another transient absorption with lambda(max) 480 nm and lifetime of 2 micros in deaerated solutions. Based on quenching by oxygen and beta-carotene, the species at 480 nm is identified as the triplet excited state of 5HT. In acidic solution a new oxygen-insensitive intermediate with lambda(max) 460 is assigned to the radical cation of 5HT. Time-resolved measurements of luminescence at 1270 nm have shown that the triplet state of 5HT is able to react with oxygen to form singlet excited oxygen (1O2*) with a quantum yield of approximately 0.1. However, 5HT has also been found to be an effective quencher of singlet oxygen with a second order rate constant of 1.3 x 10(8) dm3 mol(-1) s(-1). The results are discussed in the light of recent observations on the multiphoton-excited photochemistry of serotonin.  相似文献

The 3-cyano-N-methylquinolinium perchlorate (3-CN-NMQ(+)ClO4(-))-photosensitized oxidation of phenyl alkyl sulfoxides (PhSOCR1R2R3, 1, R1 = R2 = H, R3 = Ph; 2, R1 = H, R2 = Me, R3 = Ph; 3, R1 = R2 = Ph, R3 = H; 4, R1 = R2 = Me, R3 = Ph; 5, R1 = R2 = R3 = Me) has been investigated by steady-state irradiation and nanosecond laser flash photolysis (LFP) under nitrogen in MeCN. Steady-state photolysis showed the formation of products deriving from the heterolytic C-S bond cleavage in the sulfoxide radical cations (alcohols, R1R2R3COH, and acetamides, R1R2R3CNHCOCH3) accompanied by sulfur-containing products (phenyl benzenethiosulfinate, diphenyl disulfide, and phenyl benzenethiosulfonate). By laser irradiation, the formation of 3-CN-NMQ(*) (lambda(max) = 390 nm) and sulfoxide radical cations 1(*+) , 2(*+), and 5(*+) (lambda(max) = 550 nm) was observed within the laser pulse. The radical cations decayed by first-order kinetics with a process attributable to the heterolytic C-S bond cleavage leading to the sulfinyl radical and an alkyl carbocation. The radical cations 3(*+) and 4(*+) fragment too rapidly, decaying within the laser pulse. The absorption band of the cation Ph2CH(+) (lambda(max) = 440 nm) was observed with 3 while the absorption bands of 3-CN-NMQ(*) and PhSO(*) (lambda(max) = 460 nm) were observed just after the laser pulse in the LFP experiment with 4. No competitive beta-C-H bond cleavage has been observed in the radical cations from 1-3. The C-S bond cleavage rates were measured for 1(*+), 2(*+), and 5(*+). For 3(*+) and 4(*+), only a lower limit (ca. >3 x 10(7) s(-1)) could be given. Quantum yields (Phi) and fragmentation first-order rate constants (k) appear to depend on the structure of the alkyl group and on the bond dissociation free energy (BDFE) of the C-S bond of the radical cations determined by a thermochemical cycle using the C-S BDEs for the neutral sulfoxides 1-5 obtained by DFT calculations. Namely, Phi and k increase as the C-S BDFE becomes more negative, that is in the order 1 < 5 < 2 < 3, 4, which is also the stability order of the alkyl carbocations formed in the cleavage. An estimate of the difference in the C-S bond cleavage rate between sulfoxide and sulfide radical cations was possible by comparing the fragmentation rate of 5(*+) (1.4 x 10(6) s(-1)) with the upper limit (10(4) s(-1)) given for tert-butyl phenyl sulfide radical cation (Baciocchi, E.; Del Giacco, T.; Gerini, M. F.; Lanzalunga, O. Org. Lett. 2006, 8, 641-644). It turns out that sulfoxide radical cations undergo C-S bond breaking at a rate at least 2 orders of magnitude faster than that of corresponding sulfide radical cations.  相似文献

Laser flash photolysis (LFP) studies, atoms in molecules (AIM) studies, and density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been performed in order to study the mechanism of the hydrogen abstraction by alpha-diketones in the presence of phenols. Laser irradiation of a degassed solution of 1,2-diketopyracene in acetonitrile resulted in the formation of a readily detectable transient with absorption at 610 nm, but with very low absorptivity. This transient decays with a lifetime of around 2 micros. The quenching rate constant for substituted phenols, kq, ranged from 1.10x10(8) L mol-1 s-1 (4-cyanophenol) to 3.87x10(9) L mol-1 s-1 (4-hydroxyphenol). The Hammett plot for the reaction of the triplet of 1,2-diketopyracene with phenols gave a reaction constant rho=-0.9. DFT calculations (UB3LYP/6-311++G**//UB3LYP/6-31G*) of the triplet complex ketone-phenol revealed that hydrogen transfer has predominantly occurred and that the reaction with alpha-diketones are generally 7 kcal/mol less endothermic than the respective reactions of the monoketones. These results together with the geometries obtained from the DFT calculations, natural bond order (NBO) analysis, and AIM results indicate that hydrogen abstraction for alpha-diketones is facilitated by the electrophilicity of the ketone, instead of neighboring group participation by the second carbonyl group.  相似文献

Copper nitrenes are of interest as intermediates in the catalytic aziridination of olefins and the amination of C-H bonds. However, despite advances in the isolation and study of late-transition-metal multiply bonded complexes, a bona fide structurally characterized example of a terminal copper nitrene has, to our knowledge, not been reported. In anticipation of such a report, terminal copper nitrenes are studied from a computational perspective. The nitrene complexes studied here are of the form (beta-diketiminate)Cu(NPh). Density functional theory (DFT), complete active space self-consistent-field (CASSCF) electronic structure techniques, and hybrid quantum mechanical/molecular mechanical (QM/MM) methods are employed to study such species. While DFT methods indicate that a triplet (S = 1) is the ground state, CASSCF calculations indicate that a singlet (S = 0) is the ground state, with only a small energy gap between the singlet and triplet. Moreover, the ground-state (open-shell) singlet copper nitrene is found to be highly multiconfigurational (i.e., biradical) and to possess a bent geometry about the nitrene nitrogen, contrasting with the linear nitrene geometry of the triplet copper nitrenes. CASSCF calculations also reveal the existence of a closed-shell singlet state with some degree of multiple bonding character for the copper-nitrene bond.  相似文献

There has been considerable interest in the photochemistry of tryptophan in connection with ultraviolet inactivation of enzymes. Earlier flash photolysis work has demonstrated that the hydrated electron (e-aq) is an initial product in the irradiation of indole derivatives, accompanied by a longer-lived transient absorption near 500 nm attributed to an aromatic radical species[1–5]. Similar transients were observed in a recent flash photolysis study of lysozyme[6] in which it was proposed that inactivation is a consequence of electron ejection from 1 to 2 essential tryptophan residues in the active center. However, there has been uncertainty concerning the tryptophan radical structure and its relationship to the triplet state and radical spectra reported for tryptophan photolysis in low-temperature rigid media. This note reports a flash photolysis investigation of L-tryptophan (Trp) and 1-Methyl-L-tryptophan (1-MeTrp) undertaken to clarify these points. The flash photolysis apparatus and methods employed are described in Ref. [6].  相似文献

tert-Butyl aroylperbenzoates (1-4) were studied by laser flash photolysis (LFP). LFP (380 nm, pulse width approximately 350 fs) of 2 and 3 allowed direct observation of their singlet states, which showed broad absorption (lambda(max) approximately 625 nm; tau approximately 20 and approximately 7.9 ps, respectively). The triplet state of each (lambda(max) approximately 530-560 nm) rapidly dissociates by O-O cleavage as indicated by the short triplet lifetimes (e.g., triplet lifetime of 3 approximately 0.74 ns). The approximately 550 nm absorption obtained from the 355 nm LFP (pulse width approximately 7 ns) of 1, 2, and 4 has been assigned to the corresponding aroylphenyl radicals. Two representative radicals (4-benzoylphenyl 5 and 3-(4'-methylbenzoyl)phenyl 6) investigated in detail showed solvent-dependent lifetimes. Absolute bimolecular rate constants of reactions of these radicals with various quenchers including double-bond-containing monomers have been observed to range from 7.56 x 10(7) to 1.68 x 10(9) M(-1) s(-1) in CCl(4) at room temperature. A possible structure of the aroylphenyl radicals and the transition responsible for the 550 nm absorption are discussed.  相似文献

5-Azido-8-alkoxy psoralens were synthesized. Laser flash photolysis (LFP: XeF, 351 nm, 55 mJ, 17 ns) of the azides in acetonitrile or benzene solution produces the triplet nitrene and a small amount of ketenimine. Laser flash photolysis of the azides in methanol or aqueous solution cleanly produces the triplet nitrene. In aqueous solution containing highly polymerized calf thymus DNA, LFP produces a mixture of triplet nitrene and ketenimine corresponding to photolysis of free and bound psoralen, respectively. The two transients decay slowly but at different rates. Assignment of the transient spectra were secured by matrix EPR and UV-visible spectroscopy. The triplet nitrene lifetime is the same in buffer and in the presence and absence of calf thymus DNA. The results explain why psoralen azides are unable to efficiently nick plasmid DNA pBR322 upon UV activation.  相似文献

Curcumin [bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione] was studied by means of UV-VIS absorption spectroscopy and nanosecond laser flash photolysis in 1,4-dioxane-water mixtures in a series of dioxane-water volume ratios. The transient characteristics were found to be dependent on the amount of water. In pure dioxane the triplet state of the molecule in its enolic form was detected (lambda(max) = 720 nm, tau = 3.2 micros), whereas upon water addition, the diketo form was found to prevail, because of the perturbation of intramolecular H-bonded structure. This led to hydrogen abstraction from dioxane by curcumin triplet state and the formation of the corresponding ketyl radical (lambda(max) = 490 nm, tau approximately 10 micros). Laser flash photolysis measurements, carried out in solvents of different polarity and proticity (benzene, cyclohexane and various alcohols), allowed the transient assignments to be confirmed, supporting our interpretation.  相似文献

Diphenylgermylene (Ph2Ge) and its Ge=Ge doubly bonded dimer, tetraphenyldigermene (6a), have been characterized directly in solution for the first time by laser flash photolysis methods. The germylene is formed via (formal) cheletropic photocycloreversion of 3,4-dimethyl-1,1-diphenylgermacyclopent-3-ene (4a), which is shown to proceed in high chemical (>95%) and quantum yield (phi = 0.62) by steady-state trapping experiments with methanol, acetic acid, isoprene, and triethylsilane. Flash photolysis of 4a in dry deoxygenated hexane at 23 degrees C leads to the prompt formation of a transient assigned to Ph2Ge (lambda(max) = 500 nm; epsilon(max) = 1650 M(-1) cm(-1)), which decays with second-order kinetics (tau approximately 3 micros), with the concomitant growth of a second transient species that is assigned to digermene 6a (tau approximately 40 micros; lambda(max) = 440 nm). Analogous results are obtained from 1,1-dimesityl- and 1,1-dimethyl-3,4-dimethylgermacyclopent-3-ene (4b and 4c, respectively), which afford Mes2Ge (tau approximately 20 micros; lambda(max) = 560 nm) and Me2Ge (tau approximately 2 micros; lambda(max) = 480 nm), respectively, as well as the corresponding digermenes, tetramesityl- (6b; lambda(max) = 410 nm) and tetramethyldigermene (6c; lambda(max) = 370 nm). The results for the mesityl compound are compared to the analogous ones from laser flash photolysis of the known Mes2Ge/6b precursor, hexamesitylcyclotrigermane. The spectra of the three germylenes and two of the digermenes are in excellent agreement with calculated spectra, derived from time-dependent DFT calculations. Absolute rate constants for dimerization of Ph2Ge and Mes2Ge and for their reaction with n-butylamine and acetic acid in hexane at 23 degrees C are also reported.  相似文献

Photolysis of beta-azido propiophenone derivatives, 1, with built-in sensitizer units, leads to selective formation of triplet alkyl nitrenes 2 that were detected directly with laser flash photolysis (lambdamax = 325 nm, tau = 27 ms) and ESR spectroscopy (|D/hc| = 1.64 cm-1, |E/hc| = 0.004 cm-1). Nitrenes 2 were further characterized with argon matrix isolation, isotope labeling, and molecular modeling. The triplet alkyl nitrenes are persistent intermediates that do not abstract H-atoms from the solvent but do decay by dimerizing with another triplet nitrene to form azo products, rather than reacting with an azide precursor. The azo dimer tautomerizes and rearranges to form heterocyclic compound 3. Nitrene 2a, with an n,pi* configuration as the lowest triplet excited state of the its ketone sensitizer moiety, undergoes intramolecular 1,4-H-atom abstraction to form biradical 6, which was identified by argon matrix isolation, isotope labeling, and molecular modeling. beta-Azido-p-methoxy-propiophenone, with a pi,pi* lowest excited state of its triplet sensitizer moiety, does not undergo any secondary photoreactions but selectively yields only triplet alkyl nitrene intermediates that dimerize to form 3b.  相似文献

The D1-D0 electronic spectrum of jet-cooled cyanocyclopentadienyl (C5H4CN) radical, produced by excimer laser photolysis of 1,3-cyclopentadiene-1-carbonitrile (C5H5CN), was measured by laser-induced fluorescence (LIF). The LIF spectrum was identical to that of radicals produced by photolysis of phenyl isocyanate and o-chloroaniline, which had been assigned to phenyl nitrene. This result shows that the nascent radical product in the photolysis of o-chloroaniline and phenyl isocyanate is isomerized to C5H5CN and the final product of C5H4CN radical is derived via the second photolysis. The rotational contour of the 0-0 band of the C54CN radical, at 27143 cm−1 (368.3 nm), is also presented. The electronic transition is A-type and π electron transition, and the symmetry of both the ground and excited electronic state is 2B1 (of the C2v point group).  相似文献
