Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of doped paramagnetic crystals LiLuF4:U3+ and LiYF4:Yb3+ have been investigated at a frequency of about 9.42 GHz in the temperature range of 10–20 K. The U3+ ion spectrum is characterized by g-factors g = 1.228 and g = 2.516, and contains the hyperfine structure due to the 235U isotope with nuclear spin I = 7/2 and natural abundance of 0.71%. The observed hyperfine interaction constants are A = 81 G and A = 83.8 G. Moreover, the spectrum reveals the well-resolved superhyperfine structure (SHFS) due to two groups of four fluorine ions forming the nearest surrounding of the U3+ ion. This SHFS contains up to nine components with the spacing between components being about 12.7 G. The SHFS is observed also in the EPR spectrum of the LiYF4:Yb3+ crystal; up to 17 components with spacing of about 3.7 G may be traced. Some parameters of the effective Hamiltonian of the SHF interaction are estimated, the contribution of covalent bonding of f-electrons with ligands into these parameters is discussed. EPR spectra of a CaF2 single crystal that was grown from melt containing a small addition of NdF3 were studied. Signals corresponding to tetragonal centers of Nd3+ ions and cubic centers of Er3+ and Yb3+ ions were found. Superhyperfine structure (SHFS) in the spectra of the Nd3+ ions was observed for the first time in this crystal; parameters of the superhyperfine interaction of the Nd3+ ions with the nearest nine fluorine ions were determined. The dependence of the resolution of the Nd3+ EPR spectrum SHFS on the incident microwave power at the temperature of T ≈ 6 K was studied. Obtained results are discussed and compared with the literature data.  相似文献

The results of observation and simulation of the superhyperfine (ligand hyperfine) structure (SHFS) of the electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of rare-earth and uranium impurity ions in dielectric crystals have been systematized. The resolved SHFS of the EPR spectra of doped cubic crystals (with the fluorite and perovskite structures) has been observed for orientations of a constant magnetic field along the crystallographic axes. Most attention has been paid to tetragonal double fluorides LiRF4 (R = Y, Lu, Tm), in which the SHFS of the EPR spectra has also been found for intermediate orientations of the magnetic field. For the LiYF4: Nd3+ single crystal, the splitting of optical spectral lines due to the interaction of Nd3+ ions with nuclear magnetic moments of the nearest neighbor fluorine ions has been observed for the first time. The Van Vleck paramagnet LiTmF4: U3+ is characterized by the SHFS with clearly distinguishable components due to the interaction of uranium ions both with nuclei of the fluorine ions and with enhanced magnetic moments of the thulium nuclei. The SHFS envelopes of the EPR spectra of Yb3+, Ce3+, Nd3+, and U3+ ions in LiYF4 and LiLuF4 crystals are well reproduced by numerical calculations based on the microscopic model using only three fitting parameters: the width of transitions between the electron-nuclear sublevels of the complex containing the paramagnetic ion and nuclei of the ligands and two constants of covalent bonding of the f electrons with 2s and 2p electrons of the nearest neighbor fluorine ions.  相似文献

The superhyperfine structure of the EPR spectra of impurity Nd3+ and U3+ ions in LiYF4, LiLuF4, and LiTmF4 double-fluoride single crystals has been observed and discussed. In LiYF4: Nd (g | = 1.987, g = 2.554) and LiTmF4: Nd, the superhyperfine structure is observed at the orientation of the external magnetic field B in parallel to the c axis of the crystals and consists of nine components with a splitting of ∼15.4 MHz. In LiYF4: U (g | = 1.149, g = 2.508) and LiLuF4: U, the superhyperfine structure is observed at both B | c and Bc and consists of nine and eleven components, respectively, with a splitting of ∼21.5MHz. It should be noted that the resolution of the superhyperfine structure of the EPR spectrum of LiLuF4: U3+ becomes significantly higher with a deviation from the orientation Bc.  相似文献

We have studied the effect of doping with Eu2+ and Ce3+ ions on the photoluminescence (PL) of BaGa2Se4 crystals in the temperature range 77–300 K. We have established that the broad bands with maxima at wavelengths 456 nm and 506 nm observed in the photoluminescence spectra of BaGa2Se4:Ce3+ crystals are due to intracenter transitions 5d → 2F7/2 and 5d →2F5/2 of the Ce3+ ions, while the broad photoluminescence band with maximum at 521 nm in the spectrum of BaGa2Se4:Eu2+ is associated with 4f6 5d → 4f7 (8S7/2) transitions of the Eu2+ ion. We show that in BaGa2Se4:Eu2+,Ce3+ crystals, excitation energy is transferred from the Ce3+ ions to the Eu2+ ions.  相似文献

The EPR spectra of Ce3+ impurity ions in LiYF4, LiLuF4, and LiTmF4 double-fluoride single crystals have been investigated at a frequency of ∼9.3 GHz in the temperature range 5–25 K. The effective g factors of the ground Kramers doublet of the cerium ions in three crystals are close to each other (g = 2.737, g = 1.475 for LiYF4:Ce3+). A superhyperfine structure of the EPR spectrum of Ce3+ ions in the LiTmF4 Van Vleck paramagnet has been observed in the external magnetic field B oriented along the crystallographic axis c (Bc). The superhyperfine structure of the EPR soectra of the Ce3+ ions in the LiYF4 and LiLuF4 diamagnetic matrices is resolved for Bc. Possible factors responsible for this pronounced difference in the properties of the systems studied have been discussed.  相似文献

ESR spectra of Ce3+ ions in polycrystalline Sr2B5O9Br were studied, and the two crystallographic positions of the Ce3+ ion in this compound were identified on the basis of the data obtained. The ESR spectrum of Ce3+ ions with local charge compensation contains a broad line indicating the existence of several types of charge compensation. ESR spectra of Ce3+ ions in samples activated additionally by K+ ions are similar to those of the regular Ce3+ centers, which indicates that the effect of the univalent cation on Ce3+ is negligible.  相似文献

CdWO4 crystals grown by the Czochralski method at the low-temperature gradient were investigated with electron spin resonance (ESR) spectroscopy. ESR spectra did not contain the spectra of impurity ions typical for the CdWO4 structure, i.e., Fe3+, Mn2+, and Cr3+. At the same time, in the studied crystals a complex ESR spectrum having the hyperfine structure due to two nonequivalent tungsten atoms was observed (W183;I=1/2; natural abundance, 14.28%). Angular dependence analysis and simulation of ESR spectra have shown that this novel spectrum is described by a spin-Hamiltonian with the following parameters:D=839 G,E=80 G,g xx=2.01,g yy=1.97,g zz=1.987 and electron spinS=7/2. There is one magnetically nonequivalent position of the center in the crystal structure and the direction ofD zz andg zz corresponds to the direction of Wn-Wn+2 (or Cdn-Cdn+2) in the crystal structure. Because of the fact that it is in principle impossible to achieve the electron stateS=7/2 for the d-shell of one transition metal ion and taking into account the fact that such electron state is realized for two nonequivalent tungsten atoms, we suppose the defect structure to be the chain W2+-M+-W3+. In the structure of this defect the ion M+ is diamagnetic, the ions W2+ and W3+ have electron spinS=2 andS=3/2, respectively. The necessary condition for such defect to exist is to place this chain of ions in cadmium positions for the charge compensation. the reason for such defects to form is supposed to be the incorporation of M+ ions into the CdWO4 lattice. The presence of W2+ and W3+ in Cd positions in the defect structure provides the charge compensation and the lowering of the lattice stress.  相似文献

Photoluminescence studies of pure and Dy3+, Eu3+ doped Sr2CeO4 compounds are presented by oxalate precipitation method for solid state lighting. The prepared samples also characterized by XRD, SEM (EDS) and FTIR spectroscopy. The pure Sr2CeO4 compound displays a broad band in its emission spectrum when excited with 280 nm wavelength, which peaks centered at 488 nm, which is due to the energy transfer between the molecular orbital of the ligand and charge transfer state of the Ce4+ ions. Emission spectra of Sr2CeO4 with different concentration of Dy3+ ions under near UV radiation excitation, shows that intensity of luminescence spectra is found to be affected by Dy3+ ions, and it increases with adding some percentages of Dy3+ ions. The maximum doping concentration for quenching is found to be Dy3+?=?0.2 mol % to Sr2+ions. The observed broad spectrum from 400 to 560 nm is mainly due to CT transitions in Sr2CeO4 matrix and some fractional contribution of transitions between 4F9/26H15/2 of Dy3+ ions. Secondly the effect of Eu3+ doping at the Sr2+ site in Sr2CeO4, have been studied. The results obtained by doping Eu3+ concentrations (0.2 mol% to 1.5 mol%), the observed excitation and emission spectra reveal excellent energy transfer between Ce4+ and Eu3+. The phenomena of concentration quenching are explained on the basis of electron phonon coupling and multipolar interaction. This energy transfer generates white light with a color tuning from blue to red, the tuning being dependent on the Eu3+ concentration. The results establish that the compound Sr2CeO4 with Eu3+?=?1 mol% is an efficient “single host lattice” for the generation of white lights under near UV-LED and blue LED irradiation. The commission internationale de I’Eclairage (CIE) coordinates were calculated by Spectrophotometric method using the spectral energy distribution of prepared phosphors.  相似文献

The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) of Yb3+ ions in a KY(WO4)2 single crystal was investigated at T=4.2 K and fixed frequency of 9.38 GHz. The resonance absorption observed on the lowest Kramers doublet represents the complex superposition of three spectra, corresponding to the ytterbium isotopes with different nuclear moments. The EPR spectrum is characterized by a strong anisotropy of the g-factors. The temperature dependence of the g-factors is shown to be caused by the strong spin-orbital and orbital-lattice coupling. The resonance lines broaden with increasing temperature due to the short spin-lattice relaxation times.  相似文献

We measured the absorption and luminescence spectra of Nd3+ ions in an inorganic solvent POCl3-BCl3. The spectra were analyzed in terms of the Judd-Ofelt theory. We calculated the Judd-Ofelt parameters, oscillator strengths, spontaneous emission probabilities, luminescence quantum yield, and the stimulated emission cross section for the laser transition 4 F 3/24 I 11/2 of the neodymium ion in a POCl3-BCl3-Nd3+ solution.  相似文献

The luminescent properties of Eu3+ and Eu2+ ions in sodium pyrophosphate, Na4P2O7, have been studied. The excitation spectrum of the Eu3+ emission in Na4P2O7 consists of several sets of bands in the range 280–535 nm due to 4f–4f transitions of Eu3+ ions and a broad band with a maximum at about 240 nm interpreted to be due to a charge transfer (CT) transition from oxygen 2p states to empty states of the Eu3+ 4f6-configuration. Although the CT band energy is large enough, the quantum efficiency (η) of the Eu3+ emission in Na4P2O7 under CT excitation was estimated to be very low (η ≤ 0.01). In terms of a configurational coordinate model, this fact is interpreted as a result of the high efficiency of a radiationless relaxation from the CT state to the 7F0 ground state of Eu3+ ions occupying sodium sites in Na4P2O7. A strong reducing agent is required in order to stabilize Eu2+ ions in Na4P2O7 during the synthesis. Several nonequivalent Eu2+ luminescence centers in Na4P2O7 were found.  相似文献

The short-wave transmission spectrum of Na0.4Lu0.6F2.2 with the visible/ultraviolet transmission edge of 8 eV was studied. Absorption spectra of the 4f—5d transitions of the Ce3+ ion in the region of 4–8 eV were studied in Ce3+-doped Na0.4Lu0.6F2.2 single crystals. Luminescence spectra in the ultraviolet and visible spectral regions, luminescence decay kinetics and reflection and luminescence excitation spectra in the visible/ultraviolet and ultraviolet regions (4–20 eV) were investigated at helium and room temperatures.  相似文献

Nanocrystal rods of Eu3+/Tb3+-co-doped ZrO2 were synthesized using a simple chemical precipitation technique. Both ions were successfully doped into the Zr4+ ion site in a mixed structure containing both monoclinic and tetragonal phases. The Eu3+ or Tb3+ singly doped zirconia produced red and green luminescence which are characteristics of Eu3+ and Tb3+ ions, respectively. The co-doped zirconia samples produced blue emission from defect states transitions in the host ZrO2, red and green luminescence from dopant ions giving cool to warm white light emissions. The phosphors were efficiently excited by ultraviolet and near-ultraviolet/blue radiations giving white and red light, respectively. The decay lifetime was found to increase with increasing donor ion concentration contrary to conventional observations reported by previous researchers. Weak quadrupole–quatdrupole multipolar process was responsible for energy transfer from Tb3+ (donor) ion to Eu3+ ion. No energy back-transfer from Eu3+ to Tb3+ ion was observed from the excitation spectra. Temperature-dependent photoluminescence shows the presence of defects at low temperature, but these defects vanished at room temperature and beyond. The Eu3+/Tb3+-co-doped ZrO2 nanocrystal rod is a potential phosphor for white light application using UV as an excitation source. Thermoluminescence measurements show that the inclusion of Tb3+ ion increases trap depths in the host zirconia.  相似文献

Single crystals of double sodium-containing lanthanum and gadolinium molybdates doped with Tm3+ ions were synthesized by the Czochralski method. The spectroscopic properties of these crystals were investigated from the viewpoint of their use as active media in diode-pumped lasers. The polarized spectra of absorption on the 3 H 4 and 3 F 4 levels and the polarized spectra of luminescence due to the 3 F 4-3 H 6 laser transition were recorded, and the lifetimes of the 3 H 4 and 3 F 4 excited states of the Tm3+ ions were determined. The luminescence cross sections were calculated using the Füchtbauer-Ladenburg formula. The simulation of the decay curve of the 3 H 4 excited state according to the Golubov-Konobeev-Sakun method revealed that, in the crystals under investigation, the interaction between Tm3+ ions predominantly occurs through the dipole-dipole mechanism.  相似文献

Single crystals of yttrium aluminum borate YAl3(BO3)4 doped with manganese ions are studied using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy. It is shown that manganese ions introduced at low concentrations into the sample predominantly occupy yttrium ion sites in the crystal structure. The shape of the electron paramagnetic resonance spectrum unambiguously indicates that the valence of manganese ions in this case is equal to 2+. The parameters of the spin Hamiltonian of Mn2+ ions in the YAl3(BO3)4 matrix are determined at room temperature. The magnitude and sign of the fine structure parameter D allow the conclusion that the YAl3(BO3)4 single crystals doped with manganese ions have a strong crystal field at the yttrium ion sites and easy-axis anisotropy.  相似文献

The spectral and luminescent characteristics of samples of Y2O3:Nd3+ ceramics obtained from different precursors under different preparation conditions (the concentration of an HfO2 compacting additive, the temperature and time of synthesis) are studied at 300 and 77 K. It is shown that the spectral positions of absorption and luminescence lines of ceramics correspond to those of a Y2O3:Nd3+ single crystal. At the same time, the absorption and luminescence spectra show an inhomogeneous broadening, characteristic of disordered crystals and glass. The energies of the 4 I 9/2 and 4 F 3/2 Stark states of the Nd3+ ion are calculated. The calculation results nearly coincide with the data from the literature for the Y2O3:Nd3+ single crystal and transparent ceramics. Samples containing the compacting additive show additional lines, whose intensities correlate with its concentration and the method of preparation of Y2O3:Nd3+ ultradispersed powders. It is assumed that these lines are related to the fact that either Nd3+ ions enter the composition of the HfO2 compacting additive or Hf4+ ions are present in the nearest environment of Nd3+ ions at the boundaries of granules enriched with HfO2.  相似文献

For the fist time in Y2SiO5:Pr3+ nanocrystals, the ordered stage in the 1 D 2 luminescence decay curves for Pr3+ ions has been observed at anomalously low doped ion concentration (0.5 at %). This effect is caused by preferred location of the activator ions in the near-surface layer of the nanocrystal that provides the relaxation of elastic tension arising due to the difference of ionic radii of Pr3+ and Y3+ ions. Concentration quenching of Pr3+ luminescence is caused by the cooperative cross-relaxation.  相似文献

The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectra of Ce3+ and Nd3+ impurity ions in unoriented powders of the YBa2Cu3O6.13 compound are observed and interpreted for the first time. It is demonstrated that, upon long-term storage of the samples at room temperature, the EPR signals of these ions are masked by the spectral line (with the g factor of approximately 2) associated with the intrinsic magnetic centers due to the significant increase in its intensity.  相似文献

The high-resolution spectra of LiYF4 and LiLuF4 crystals doped with holmium are studied. It is shown that the weak satellites of some principal lines observed in the optical spectra belong to Ho3+-Ho3+ pair centers. The role played by local crystal-field distortions in the formation of the spectrum of pair centers is verified experimentally.  相似文献
