The time evolution of the phase space distribution function for a classical particle in contact with a heat bath and in an external force field can be described by a kinetic equation. From this starting point, for either Fokker-Planck or BGK (Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook) collision models, we derive, with a projection operator technique, Smoluchowski equations for the configuration space density with corrections in reciprocal powers of the friction constant. For the Fokker-Planck model our results in Laplace space agree with Brinkman, and in the time domain, with Wilemski and Titulaer. For the BGK model, we find that the leading term is the familiar Smoluchowski equation, but the first correction term differs from the Fokker-Planck case primarily by the inclusion of a fourth order space derivative or super Burnett term. Finally, from the corrected Smoluchowski equations for both collision models, in the spirit of Kramers, we calculate the escape rate over a barrier to fifth order in the reciprocal friction constant, for a particle initially in a potential well.  相似文献

A method for deriving exact Fokker-Planck equations from stochastic master equations by expanding the probability distribution in terms of Poisson distribution is given. It is applied to two non-linear chemical processes to obtain the steady state distributions.  相似文献

An approach is presented for extracting phase equations from multivariate time series data recorded from a network of weakly coupled limit cycle oscillators. Our aim is to estimate important properties of the phase equations including natural frequencies and interaction functions between the oscillators. Our approach requires the measurement of an experimental observable of the oscillators; in contrast with previous methods it does not require measurements in isolated single or two-oscillator setups. This noninvasive technique can be advantageous in biological systems, where extraction of few oscillators may be a difficult task. The method is most efficient when data are taken from the nonsynchronized regime. Applicability to experimental systems is demonstrated by using a network of electrochemical oscillators; the obtained phase model is utilized to predict the synchronization diagram of the system.  相似文献

We present a method for obtaining a set of dynamical equations for a system that exhibits a chaotic time series. The time series data is first embedded in an appropriate phase space by using the improved time delay technique of Broomhead and King (1986). Next, assuming that the flow in this space is governed by a set of coupled first order nonlinear ordinary differential equations, a least squares fitting method is employed to derive values for the various unknown coefficients. The ability of the resulting model equations to reproduce global properties like the geometry of the attractor and Lyapunov exponents is demonstrated by treating the numerical solution of a single variable of the Lorenz and Rossler systems in the chaotic regime as the test time series. The equations are found to provide good short term prediction (a few cycle times) but display large errors over large prediction time. The source of this shortcoming and some possible improvements are discussed.  相似文献

A simple model of relaxation phenomena is defined with a variable strength of interaction, where the interaction term is given by a Gaussian unitary ensemble. A set of Fokker-Planck equations are derived which describe the gradual delocalization of the eigenstates with respect to the unperturbed energy with increasing strength of interaction. The effect of localization on the time evolution in the model is a nonergodic property: the system has a memory of the initial state.  相似文献

We propose a parametric approach to solve self-consistency equations that naturally arise in many-body systems described by nonlinear Fokker-Planck equations in general and nonlinear Vlasov-Fokker-Planck equations of Haissinski type in particular. We demonstrate for the Hess-Doi-Edwards model and the McMillan model of nematic and smectic liquid crystals that the parametric approach can be used to compute bifurcation diagrams and critical order parameters for systems exhibiting one or more than one order parameters. In addition, we show that in the context of the parametric approach solutions of the Haissinski model can be studied from the perspective of a pseudo order parameter.  相似文献

The Fokker-Planck approximation for n-dimensional nonmarkovian Langevin equations is discussed through an expansion in powers of the correlation time of the noise. Exact cases are considered and an application to brownian motion is presented.  相似文献
