Comprehensive study on electron impact for acetylene molecule is performed in terms of eigenphase diagram, electronic excitation cross sections as well as total cross section calculations from 1 eV to 5000 eV in this article. Computation of cross section over such a wide range of energy is reported for the first time. We have employed two distinct formalisms to derive cross sections in these impact energies. From 1 eV to ionization threshold of the target we have used the ab initio R-matrix method and then spherical complex optical potential method beyond that. At the crossing point of energy, both theories matched quite well and hence prove that they are consistent with each other. The results presented here expectedly give excellent agreement with other experimental values and theories available. The techniques employed here are well established and can be used to predict cross sections for other targets where data are scarce or not available. Also, this methodology may be integrated to online database such as Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Centre to provide cross section data required by any user.  相似文献

We present absolute partial electron impact ionization cross sections for ethylene in the electron energy range between threshold and 1000 eV measured with a two sector field double focusing mass spectrometer. Ion kinetic energy distribution functions have been measured at all electron energies by applying a deflection field method. Multiplication of the measured relative cross sections by the appropriately determined discrimination factors lead to accurate relative partial cross sections. Normalization of the sum of the relative partial cross sections to an absolute total cross section gives absolute partial cross section values. The initial kinetic energy distributions of several fragment ions show the presence of two or more contributions that exhibit different electron energy dependencies. Differential cross sections with respect to the initial kinetic energy of the ions are provided and are related to specific ion production channels. The electron threshold energies for the direct and numerous other dissociative ionization channels are determined by quantum chemical calculation and these allow the determination of the total kinetic energy release and the electron energy loss for the most prominent dissociative ionization channels.  相似文献

The present work provides a comprehensive set of positron impact scattering cross sections for group 14 tetrahydrides, namely, SiH4, GeH4, SnH4, and PbH4. The well‐established spherical complex optical potential and complex scattering potential‐ionization contribution methods are modified to incorporate positron scattering in the present work to calculate various cross sections. The positronium formation channel is adequately included through an improved inelastic threshold. The energy range chosen for the direct ionization cross section is from the respective ionization potential (I) of the molecule to 5 keV. Likewise, positronium formation and total ionization cross sections are reported from the positronium formation threshold to 300 eV and 5 keV, respectively, and the total cross section is computed for an extensive energy range of 1 eV to 5 keV. The positron impact total cross section for stannane molecule is computed for the first time. A characteristic valley is observed in the total cross sections with minima close to the positronium formation threshold. Further increase of cross section signifies the opening of inelastic channels especially positronium formation. In general, a reasonable agreement is found between the present results and other comparisons, wherever available. Furthermore, this is the first report of the inelastic cross sections (direct ionization, positronium formation, and total ionization) for the present set of targets.  相似文献

We present a joint theoretical-experimental study on electron scattering by methanol (CH(3)OH) and ethanol (C(2)H(5)OH) in a wide energy range. Experimental differential, integral and momentum-transfer cross sections for elastic electron scattering by ethanol are reported in the 100-1000 eV energy range. The experimental angular distributions of the energy-selected electrons are measured and converted to absolute cross sections using the relative flow technique. Moreover, elastic, total, and total absorption cross sections for both alcohols are calculated in the 1-500 eV energy range. A complex optical potential is used to represent the dynamics of the electron-alcohol interaction, whereas the scattering equations are solved iteratively using the Pade?'s approximant technique. Our calculated data agree well with those obtained using the Schwinger multichannel method at energies up to 20 eV. Discrepancies at high energies indicate the importance of absorption effects, included in our calculations. In general, the comparison between our theoretical and experimental results, as well as with other experimental data available in the literature, also show good agreement. Nevertheless, the discrepancy between the theoretical and experimental total cross sections at low incident energies suggests that the experimental cross sections measured using the transmission technique for polar targets should be reviewed.  相似文献

Single and double differential ionization cross sections for the production of ions resulting from dissociative, single and double ionization of SF(6) by electron impact have been calculated using a semiempirical formulation based on the Jain-Khare approach. In addition, triple differential cross sections have been obtained for some of the doubly charged fragment ions at an incident electron energy of 100, 150, and 200 eV, respectively, and a fixed scattering angle of 30 degrees. As no previous data seem to exist for differential cross sections we have derived from these differential cross sections corresponding partial and total ionization cross sections from threshold up to 900 eV and compared those with the available theoretical and experimental data.  相似文献

Experimental absolute differential cross sections for elastic scattering, and for vibrational and electronic excitation of Pt(PF(3))(4) by low-energy electrons are presented. The elastic cross sections have a deep angle-dependent Ramsauer-Townsend minimum (E(min) = 0.26 eV at θ = 135°). The angular distributions of the elastic cross section at and above 6.5 eV show an unusually narrow peak at an angle which decreases with increasing energy (it is at 40° at 20 eV). Wavy structure is observed at higher angles at 15 and 20 eV. Vibrational excitation cross sections reveal five shape resonances, at 0.84, 1.75, 3.3, 6.6, and 8.5 eV. The angular distributions of the vibrational cross sections have a strong forward peak and are nearly isotropic above about 60°. Electronically excited states are characterized by electron energy-loss spectra. They show a number of unstructured bands, the lowest at 5.8 eV. They are assigned to Rydberg states converging to the 1st and 2nd ionization energies. The cross sections for electronic excitation have very high forward peaks, reaching the value of 50 A?(2) at 50 eV and 0° scattering angle. Purity of the sample was monitored by the very low frequency (26 meV) Pt-P stretch vibration in the energy-loss spectra.  相似文献

We report experimental results for electron scattering from perfluorocyclobutane, c-C(4)F(8), obtained from measurements in our two laboratories. A set of differential, integral, and momentum transfer cross sections is provided for elastic scattering for incident electron energies from 1.5 to 100 eV. Inelastic scattering (vibrational excitation) cross sections have been measured for incident electron energies of 1.5, 2, 5, 6, and 7 eV. In order to investigate the role of intermediate negative ions (resonances) in the scattering process we have also measured an excitation function for elastic scattering and vibrational excitation of the ground electronic state of C(4)F(8) for incident energies between 0.6 and 20 eV. These results are compared with the limited amount of data available in the literature for scattering from this molecule.  相似文献

We report results of measurements and calculations of absolute cross sections for electron scattering from furan molecules (C(4)H(4)O). The experimental absolute differential cross sections (DCSs) for elastic electron scattering were obtained for the incident energies from 50 eV to 300 eV and for scattering angles from 20[ordinal indicator, masculine] to 110[ordinal indicator, masculine], by using a crossed electron-target beam setup and the relative flow technique for calibration to the absolute scale. The calculations of the electron interaction cross sections are based on a corrected form of the independent-atom method, known as the screening corrected additivity rule (SCAR) procedure and using an improved quasifree absorption model. The latter calculations also account for rotational excitations in the approximation of a free electric dipole and were used to obtain elastic DCSs as well as total and integral elastic cross sections which are tabulated in the energy range from 10 to 10 000 eV. All SCAR calculated cross sections agree very well with both the present and previously published experimental results. Additionally, calculations based on the first Born approximation were performed to calculate both elastic and vibrationally inelastic DCSs for all the modes of furane, in the energy range from 50 eV to 300 eV. The ratios of the summed vibrational to elastic DCSs are presented and discussed. Finally, the present results for furan are compared with previously published elastic DCSs for the tetrahydrofuran molecule and discussed.  相似文献

Trajectory Surface Hopping (TSH) calculations have been applied to the non-elastic scattering in the K + Br2 collision system over a wide range of relative kinetic energies from 0 to 8000 eV. Absolute total cross sections have been computed for the formation of various collision products with an accuracy of 5% with respect to statistical errors. The following non-elastic processes have been studied: chemical reaction, inelastic neutral scattering, neutral dissociation and ion pair formation, yielding atomic as well as molecular negative bromine ions together with PC ions. The absolute values of the respective total cross sections, obtained from the TSH calculations, are in close agreement with the available experimental data, both for chemical reaction and for ion pair formation, over the whole energy range considered. The three particle character of the collision system is important in describing the experimental results quantitatively at relative kinetic energies below 100 eV.  相似文献

1,1-difluoroethylene (1,1-C2H2F2) molecules have been studied for the first time experimentally and theoretically by electron and positron impact. 0.4-1000 eV electron and 0.2-1000 eV positron impact total cross sections (TCSs) were measured using a retarding potential time-of-flight apparatus. In order to probe the resonances observed in the electron TCSs, a crossed-beam method was used to investigate vibrational excitation cross sections over the energy range of 1.3-49 eV and scattering angles 90 degrees and 120 degrees for the two loss energies 0.115 and 0.381 eV corresponding to the dominant C-H (nu2 and nu9) stretching and the combined C-F (nu3) stretching and CH2 (nu11) rocking vibrations, respectively. Electron impact elastic integral cross sections are also reported for calculations carried out using the Schwinger multichannel method with pseudopotentials for the energy range from 0.5 to 50 eV in the static-exchange approximation and from 0.5 to 20 eV in the static-exchange plus polarization approximation. Resonance peaks observed centered at about 2.3, 6.5, and 16 eV in the TCSs have been shown to be mainly due to the vibrational and elastic channels, and assigned to the B2, B1, and A1 symmetries, respectively. The pi* resonance peak at 1.8 eV in C2H4 is observed shifted to 2.3 eV in 1,1-C2H2F2 and to 2.5 eV in C2F4; a phenomenon attributed to the decreasing C=C bond length from C2H4 to C2F4. For positron impact a conspicuous peak is observed below the positronium formation threshold at about 1 eV, and other less pronounced ones centered at about 5 and 20 eV.  相似文献

Spherical complex optical potential (SCOP) approach has been used to compute the differential, total (elastic + inelastic) and momentum transfer cross sections for electrons scattering from the bound and free germanium and lead atoms in the energy range from 100–5000 eV. We find that the present calculated differential scattering cross sections (DCS) exhibit all important features (such as forward peaking, dip at middle angles and enhanced backward scattering) observed in other theoretical calculations and experimental measurements. The effect of absorption potential is generally to reduce the elastic cross section.  相似文献

We have measured the absolute cross sections for reactions of Xe(+) and Xe(2+) with NH(3) at collision energies in the range from near-thermal to ~34 and ~69?eV, respectively. For Xe(+), the cross section for charge transfer, the only exothermic channel, decreases from ~200A?(2) below 0.1 eV to ~12A?(2) at the highest energies studied. The production of NH(3) (+) is the only channel observed below 5 eV, above which a small amount of NH(2) (+) is also formed. In Xe(2+) reactions, the main products observed are NH(3) (+) and NH(2) (+). The charge transfer cross section decreases monotonically from ~80 to ~6A?(2) over the studied energy range. The NH(2) (+) cross section is similar to the charge transfer cross section at the lowest energies, and exhibits a second component above 0.4 eV, with a maximum of 65A?(2) at 0.7 eV, above which the cross section decreases to ~30A?(2) at the highest energies studied. At energies above 10 eV, a small amount of NH(+) is also observed in Xe(2+) collisions. Product recoil velocity distributions were determined at selected collision energies, using guided-ion beam time-of-flight methods.  相似文献

The cross sections for electron scattering on OH-(H2O)n for n = 0-4 were measured from threshold to approximately 50 eV. All detachment cross sections were found to follow the classical prediction given earlier [Phys. Rev. Lett. 74, 892 (1995)] with a threshold energy for electron-impact detachment that increased upon sequential hydration, yielding values in the range from 4.5 eV +/- 0.2 eV for OH- to 12.10 eV +/- 0.5 eV for OH-(H2O)4. For n > or = 1, we found that approximately 80% of the total reaction events lead to electron detachment plus total dissociation of the clusters into the constituent molecules of OH and H2O. Finally, we observed resonances in the cross sections for OH-(H2O)3 and for OH-(H2O)4. The resonances were located at approximately 15 eV and were ascribed to the formation of dianions in excited states.  相似文献

We present theoretical elastic and electronic excitation cross sections and experimental electronic excitation cross sections for electron collisions with pyrimidine. We use the R-matrix method to determine elastic integral and differential cross sections and integral inelastic cross sections for energies up to 15 eV. The experimental inelastic cross sections have been determined in the 15-50 eV impact energy range. Typically, there is quite reasonable agreement between the theoretical and experimental integral inelastic cross sections. Calculated elastic cross sections agree very well with prior results.  相似文献

We report absolute differential cross sections (DCSs) for elastic electron scattering from GeF(4). The incident electron energy range was 3-200 eV, while the scattered electron angular range was typically 15°-150°. In addition, corresponding independent atom model (IAM) calculations, within the screened additivity rule (SCAR) formulation, were also performed. Those results, particularly for electron energies above about 10 eV, were found to be in good quantitative agreement with the present experimental data. Furthermore, we compare our GeF(4) elastic DCSs to similar data for scattering from CF(4) and SiF(4). All these three species possess T(d) symmetry, and at each specific energy considered above about 50 eV their DCSs are observed to be almost identical. These indistinguishable features suggest that high-energy elastic scattering from these targets is virtually dominated by the atomic-F species of the molecules. Finally, estimates for the measured GeF(4) elastic integral cross sections are derived and compared to our IAM-SCAR computations and with independent total cross section values.  相似文献

The singlet and triplet cross sections and the asymmetry parameter for e-H and e-Li ionization have been calculated in a distorted-wave Born approximation for incident energies in the range 0.5 to 20 eV above the ionization threshold. The two final-state continuum electrons are assumed to share equal energy and to come out 180° apart. The variation with respect to the angle of scattering is found to be qualitatively very different in the two cases. It is found that, in the case of lithium, the 1D and 3F components in the scattering amplitude are quite significant even at very low energies.  相似文献

We measured absolute partial cross sections for the formation of various singly charged and doubly charged positive ions produced by electron impact on silicon tetrachloride (SiCl4) using two different experimental techniques, a time-of-flight mass spectrometer (TOF-MS) and a fast-neutral-beam apparatus. The energy range covered was from the threshold to 900 eV in the TOF-MS and to 200 eV in the fast-neutral-beam apparatus. The results obtained by the two different experimental techniques were found to agree very well (better than their combined margins of error). The SiCl3(+) fragment ion has the largest partial ionization cross section with a maximum value of slightly above 6x10(-20) m2 at about 100 eV. The cross sections for the formation of SiCl4(+), SiCl+, and Cl+ have maximum values around 4x10(-20) m2. Some of the cross-section curves exhibit an unusual energy dependence with a pronounced low-energy maximum at an energy around 30 eV followed by a broad second maximum at around 100 eV. This is similar to what has been observed by us earlier for another Cl-containing molecule, TiCl4 [R. Basner, M. Schmidt, V. Tamovsky, H. Deutsch, and K. Becker, Thin Solid Films 374 291 (2000)]. The maximum cross-section values for the formation of the doubly charged ions, with the exception of SiCl3(++), are 0.05x10(-20) m2 or less. The experimentally determined total single ionization cross section of SiCl4 is compared with the results of semiempirical calculations.  相似文献

The ground state potential energy curves for protons interacting with Ar and Ne atoms are determined by the analysis of new, highly accurate measurements of the elastic differential cross sections at a laboratory collision energy of 14.8 eV. Accompanying theoretical results from SCF-CI calculations are used as starting points to generate analytic potentials that are able to fit all available experimental cross sections for both systems. The final results provide the full shape of the potential curves and give the best existing fit to the measured cross sections for elastic scattering at several energies from 2eV to 30eV.  相似文献
