The phase change in biological tissues during a freezing process is simulated by hyperbolic and parabolic heat equations with temperature-dependent enthalpy. It is observed that the experimental results are in a good agreement with that the calculated results by the enthalpy method. The results shown that the Fourier model predicts tissues temperature lower than of the non-Fourier model. Further decrease in freezing rate and freezing velocity is noticed with an increase in relaxation time value.  相似文献

An exact and a numerical solutions to the problem of a steady mixed convective MHD flow of an incompressible viscous electrically conducting fluid past an infinite vertical porous plate with combined heat and mass transfer are presented.A uniform magnetic field is assumed to be applied transversely to the direction of the flow with the consideration of the induced magnetic field with viscous and magnetic dissipations of energy. The porous plate is subjected to a constant suction velocity as well as a uniform mixed stream velocity. The governing equations are solved by the perturbation technique and a numerical method. The analytical expressions for the velocity field, the temperature field, the induced magnetic field, the skin-friction,and the rate of heat transfer at the plate are obtained. The numerical results are demonstrated graphically for various values of the parameters involved in the problem. The effects of the Hartmann number, the chemical reaction parameter, the magnetic Prandtl number, and the other parameters involved in the velocity field, the temperature field, the concentration field, and the induced magnetic field from the plate to the fluid are discussed. An increase in the heat source/sink or the Eckert number is found to strongly enhance the fluid velocity values. The induced magnetic field along the x-direction increases with the increase in the Hartmann number, the magnetic Prandtl number, the heat source/sink,and the viscous dissipation. It is found that the flow velocity, the fluid temperature, and the induced magnetic field decrease with the increase in the destructive chemical reaction.Applications of the study arise in the thermal plasma reactor modelling, the electromagnetic induction, the magnetohydrodynamic transport phenomena in chromatographic systems, and the magnetic field control of materials processing.  相似文献

Analytically solving a three-dimensional (3-D) bioheat transfer problem with phase change during a freezing process is extremely difficult but theoretically important. The moving heat source model and the Green function method are introduced to deal with the cryopreservation process of in vitro biomaterials. Exact solutions for the 3-D temperature transients of tissues under various boundary conditions, such as totally convective cooling, totally fixed temperature cooling and a hybrid between them on tissue surfaces, are obtained. Furthermore, the cryosurgical process in living tissues subject to freezing by a single or multiple cryoprobes is also analytically solved. A closed-form analytical solution to the bioheat phase change process is derived by considering contributions from blood perfusion heat transfer, metabolic heat generation, and heat sink of a cryoprobe. The present method is expected to have significant value for analytically solving complex bioheat transfer problems with phase change.  相似文献

The aim of the paper is to investigate the effect of heat and mass transfer on the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic free convective flow with Hall current, heat source, and viscous dissipation. The problem is governed by the system of coupled non-linear partial differential equations whose exact solution is difficult to obtain. Therefore, the problem is solved by using the Galerkin finite element method. The effects of the various parameters like Hall current, Eckert number, heat source parameter, Prandtl number, and Schmidt number on the velocity components, the temperature, and the concentration are also examined through graphs.  相似文献

The current study addresses the mathematical modeling aspects of coupled conductive and radiative heat transfer in presence of absorbing, emitting and isotropic scattering gray medium within two-dimensional square enclosure. The walls of the enclosure are considered to be opaque, diffuse and gray. The enclosure comprised of isothermal vertical walls and insulated horizontal walls. A new hybrid method where the concepts of modified differential approximation employed by blending discrete ordinate method and spherical harmonics method, has been developed for modeling the radiative transport equation. The finite volume method has been adopted as the numerical technique. The effect of various influencing parameters i.e., radiation-conduction parameter, surface emissivity, single scattering albedo and optical thickness has been illustrated. The compatibility of the method with regard to solving coupled conduction and radiation has also been addressed.  相似文献

The MHD Couette flow of two immiscible fluids in a parallel plate channel in the presence of an applied electric and inclined magnetic field is investigated in the paper. One of the fluids is assumed to be electrically conducting, while the other fluid and the channel plates are assumed to be electrically insulating. Separate solutions with appropriate boundary conditions for each fluid are obtained and these solutions are matched at the interface using suitable matching conditions. The partial differential equations governing the flow and heat transfer are transformed to ordinary differential equations and closed-form solutions are obtained in both fluid regions of the channel. The results for various values of the Hartmann number, the angle of magnetic field inclination, the loading parameter and the ratio of the heights of the fluids are presented graphically to show their effect on the flow and heat transfer characteristics.  相似文献

A simplified model of heat transfer was developed to investigate the thermal behavior of heat exchangers and stack plates of thermoacoustic devices. The model took advantage of previous results describing the thermal behavior of the thermoacoustic core and heat transfer in oscillating flow to study the performance of heat exchangers attached to the core. The configuration considered is a flat tube (with a working fluid flowing in the tube) of the thickness of the stack plate attached to both ends of the stack plate. Geometrical and operational parameters as well as thermophysical properties of the heat exchangers, transport fluids in the heat exchangers, stack plate and the thermoacoustic working fluid were organized into dimensionless groups that allowed accounting for their impact on the performance of the heat exchangers. Two types of thermal boundary conditions were considered: constant temperature and constant heat flux along the heat exchanger tubes. Numerical simulations were carried out with the model introduced in the paper. The temperature distributions and heat fluxes near the edge of the stack plate were found to be nonlinear. The influence of system parameters on the thermal performance of the heat exchangers was analyzed. This article is dedicated to Prof. D. The paper considers the flow of a power-law fluid past a vertical stretching sheet. Effects of variable thermal conductivity and non-uniform heat source/sink on the heat transfer are addressed. The thermal conductivity is assumed to vary linearly with temperature. Similarity transformation is used to convert the governing partial differential equations into a set of coupled, non-linear ordinary differential equations. Two different types of boundary heating are considered, namely Prescribed power-law Surface Temperature (PST) and Prescribed power-law Heat Flux (PHF). Shooting method is used to obtain the numerical solution for the resulting boundary value problems. The effects of Chandrasekhar number, Grashof number, Prandtl number, non-uniform heat source/sink parameters, wall temperature parameter and variable thermal conductivity parameter on the dynamics are shown graphically in several plots. The skin friction and heat transfer coefficients are tabulated for a range of values of the parameters. Present study reveals that in a gravity affected flow buoyancy effect has a significant say in the control of flow and heat transfer.  相似文献

In the present paper equations are obtained for determining the temperature field in a fluidized layer. The heat and mass transfer processes in a fluidized bed depend significantly on the motion of the solid particles which form the bed. In any small volume of a fluidized bed with nonuniform thermal conditions there are particles with different average temperatures. Therefore it is natural to resort to the statistical representation of such a system, developed previously in [1, 2], for the study of the heat transfer processes. The expression obtained here for the heat conductivity coefficient of the bed is in good qualitative agreement with the experimental data. The author wishes to thank V. G. Levich for his interest and valuable discussions.  相似文献

An analytical skin friction model for compressible, turbulent, internal, fully developed flow involving adiabatic and non-adiabatic, smooth and rough flows has been developed by extending the incompressible law-of-the-wall relation to compressible cases. The formula recovers Prandtl's incompressible law of friction for pipes (within 2%) for incompressible flow. The model also shows good correlation with available data for compressible, adiabatic flows and flows involving cold wall heat transfer (within 15%). Comparison with hot wall data is only moderate (15–30%). Finally, using Reynold's analogy, the Stanton number and Nusselt numbers may be estimated.  相似文献

This paper investigates the problem of hydrodynamic boundary layer flow and heat transfer of a dusty fluid over an unsteady stretching surface. The study considers the effects of frictional heating(viscous dissipation) and internal heat generation or absorption. The basic equations governing the flow and heat transfer are reduced to a set of non-linear ordinary differential equations by applying suitable similarity transformations. The transformed equations are numerically solved by the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg-45 order method. An analysis is carried out for two different cases of heating processes, namely, variable wall temperature(VWT) and variable heat flux(VHF).The effects of various physical parameters such as the magnetic parameter, the fluid-particle interaction parameter, the unsteady parameter, the Prandtl number, the Eckert number, the number density of dust particles, and the heat source/sink parameter on velocity and temperature profiles are shown in several plots. The effects of the wall temperature gradient function and the wall temperature function are tabulated and discussed.  相似文献

A model of heat and mass processes in a body with two types of pores is considered. This model describes the initial stage of substance penetration into the porous system (or the inverse process, namely, substance extraction from the system) and takes into account convective transport in large channels. A kinetic function of impregnation (extraction) of the porous medium and the substance flux density are found for a problem with additional conditions.  相似文献

In this work a solution has been derived for the motion of an incompressible liquid with a temperature dependent viscosity in a conical diffuser. The inertia and diffusion terms are neglected in the equations of motion and heat conduction. It is assumed that the temperature of the diffuser wall is inversely proportional to the spherical radius. It is shown that the stream function and temperature are uniformly convergent series, the terms of which satisfy an infinite system of normal differential equations. An investigation has been made of the behavior of the flow pattern and the effects of a temperature gradient on the radial velocity component. The method has been used to resolve the flow of a liquid between two coaxial cones.  相似文献

An analysis has been carried out to study the magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer flow and heat transfer characteristics of a laminar liquid film over a flat impermeable stretching sheet in the presence of a non-uniform heat source/sink. The basic unsteady boundary layer equations governing the flow and heat transfer are in the form of partial differential equations. These equations are converted to non-linear ordinary differential equations using similarity transformation. Numerical solutions of the resulting boundary value problem are obtained by the efficient shooting technique. The effects of magnetic and the non-uniform heat source/sink parameters on the dynamics are discussed. Findings of the paper reveal that non-uniform heat sinks are better suited for effective cooling of the stretching sheet. Skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number are also explored for typical values of magnetic and non-uniform heat source/sink parameters. The results are in excellent agreement with the earlier published works, under some limiting cases.  相似文献
