We identify Melrose's suspended algebra of pseudodifferential operators with a subalgebra of the algebra of parametric pseudodifferential operators with parameter space . For a general algebra of parametric pseudodifferential operators, where the parameter space may now be a cone , we construct a unique ``symbol valued trace', which extends the -trace on operators of small order. This construction is in the spirit of a trace due to Kontsevich and Vishik in the nonparametric case. Our trace allows us to construct various trace functionals in a systematic way. Furthermore, we study the higher-dimensional eta-invariants on algebras with parameter space . Using Clifford representations we construct for each first order elliptic differential operator a natural family of parametric pseudodifferential operators over . The eta-invariant of this family coincides with the spectral eta-invariant of the operator.

We study dimensional properties of porous measures on . As a corollary of a theorem describing the local structure of nearly uniformly porous measures we prove that the packing dimension of any Radon measure on has an upper bound depending on porosity. We prove that for any real expansive matrix , there exists a bounded -dilation wavelet set in the frequency domain (the inverse Fourier transform of whose characteristic function is a band-limited single wavelet in the time domain ). Moreover these wavelet sets can approximate a cube in arbitrarily. This result improves Dai, Larson and Speegle's result about the existence of (basically unbounded) wavelet sets for real expansive matrices.

We prove low regularity global well-posedness for the 1d Zakharov system and the 3d Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger system, which are systems in two variables and . The Zakharov system is known to be locally well-posed in and the Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger system is known to be locally well-posed in . Here, we show that the Zakharov and Klein-Gordon-Schrödinger systems are globally well-posed in these spaces, respectively, by using an available conservation law for the norm of and controlling the growth of via the estimates in the local theory.

Let be an operator weight, i.e. a weight function taking values in the bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space . We prove that if the dyadic martingale transforms are uniformly bounded on for each dyadic grid in , then the Hilbert transform is bounded on as well, thus providing an analogue of Burkholder's theorem for operator-weighted -spaces. We also give a short new proof of Burkholder's theorem itself. Our proof is based on the decomposition of the Hilbert transform into ``dyadic shifts'.

In this paper we introduce a polynomial frame on the unit sphere of , for which every distribution has a wavelet-type decomposition. More importantly, we prove that many function spaces on the sphere , such as , and Besov spaces, can be characterized in terms of the coefficients in the wavelet decompositions, as in the usual Euclidean case . We also study a related nonlinear -term approximation problem on . In particular, we prove both a Jackson-type inequality and a Bernstein-type inequality associated to wavelet decompositions, which extend the corresponding results obtained by R. A. DeVore, B.
