The feasibility of using homogeneous membrane-type halide ion-selective electrodes in solutions containing cationic surfactant compounds was examined. The results established the applicability of these electrodes for monitoring halide ions in solution without interference by the surfactants. The data also provided a basis for estimation of the surfactant in solution through the halide content. Two typical plating-bath compositions containing CTAB have been successfully analysed for their surfactant content by this procedure.  相似文献

A stepwise titrimetric method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of pharmaceutical quaternary ammonium salts (R4N+) and aromatic amines (R3N). The method is based on the solvent extraction of R4N+ and R3NH+ with an ion association reagent. Sodium tetrakis(4-fluorophenyl)borate and sodium tetraphenylborate were used as titrants and potassium tetrabromophenolphthalein ethyl ester (TBPE) was used as an indicator. The ion associate which formed between R4N+ ion and TBPE made a blue color in 1,2-dichloroethane, while the ion associate formed between R3NH+ and TBPE showed a red-violet one. Sample solutions containing quaternary ammonium and/or amine compounds were titrated with sodium tetrakis(4-fluorophenyl)borate or sodium tetraphenylborate. When one drop of excess titrant was added, the color of the organic phase turned from blue or red-violet to yellow at the equivalence point. On the other hand, in the mixture of R4N+ and R3N, the color changed from blue to red-violet at the first equivalence point, and then its color turned to yellow at the second equivalence point. The quaternary ammonium compound and aromatic amine in pharmaceuticals could be simultaneously and successfully determined by the proposed titration method.  相似文献

Xanthene dyes such as eosin and tetraiodofluorescein form 1:2 ion associates with quaternary ammonium ions at pH 7-9; however, the development of color in the organic solvent is poor. When a quaternary ammonium salt is added in the extractable 1:2 associate formed between a xanthene dye and a cinchona-alkaloid in the neutral media, a mixed ternary ion associate (xanthene dye:cinchona-alkaloid:quaternary ammonium ion=1:1:1) is formed. Its extractability is enhanced due to the more bulky associate formation. The ion association caused by addition of cinchona-alkaloids is unique. Of the cinchona-alkaloids, quinidine and cinchonidine with tetraiodofluorescein show excellent effects on sensitivity and extractability. Eosin and tetraiodofluorescein are useful as ion association reagents in the ion associate formation. The apparent molar absorptivities are about 1×105 l mol−1 cm−1 and the calibration range for quaternary ammonium salt is from 2.5×10−7 to 1.5×10−6 M. The proposed method is applicable to the selective and sensitive determination of cetylpyridinium chloride, berberine chloride and benzethonium chloride in pharmaceuticals.  相似文献

The neat phases of a series of quaternary ammonium halides based on trioctadecylamine have been investigated by optical microscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and H NMR spectroscopy. Phase behaviour depends primarily on the structure of the fourth substituent on nitrogen and the thermal history of the samples. For instance, the iodide salts with methyl, ethyl, or propyl as the fourth substituent form enantiotropic nematic phases, while those with a proton or a longer alkyl substituent exhibit complex phase behaviour that does not include a liquid crystalline phase. Possible reasons are advanced for the unprecedented formation of nematic phases.  相似文献

The synthesis of ionic liquids based upon functionalized quaternary ammonium salts and metal salts of zinc, tin, or iron is demonstrated. The freezing point of these ionic liquids was studied as a function of the quaternary ammonium cation. The complex anions were identified and quantified using mass spectrometry and potentiometry. It is shown that the primary zinc anion is Zn(2)Cl(5)(-) with Zn(3)Cl(7)(-) becoming more abundant in more Lewis basic solutions. Similar results were observed for ionic liquids containing SnCl(2). The surface tension was also measured and was used to explain the high viscosity of the ionic liquids in terms of the large ion:hole size ratio and the small probability of finding a hole of suitable dimensions adjacent to a given ion to permit movement. The phase behavior of a variety of quaternary ammonium halides/ZnCl(2) mixtures is characterized and it is shown that the depression of freezing point is related to the increase in size of the component ions.  相似文献

Various esters of choline and carnitine have been shown to undergo fragmentation dependent on both the structures of the molecules and the vapor and block temperatures when subjected to thermospray ionization mass spectrometry. The fragments observed vary with the structure of the ester portion and the backbone of the molecules, and are consistent with the compounds undergoing three types of reactions: (1) carbon—nitrogen bond cleavage to tertiary amines and alkyl compounds, (2) hydrolysis of the ester linkage, forming alcohols and organic acids, and (3) deacylation of the molecules to form acids and the corresponding quaternary alkene. The general applicability of the carbon—nitrogen bond cleavage mechanism was studied with other classes of quaternary compounds, but the sole products consistently detected for pyridinium, benzyldimethyldodecylammonium and tetraalkylammonium salts were amines. The fragments observed for the esters of choline and carnitine and also the anticholinergic 2,2-diphenyl-4-diisopropylaminobutyramide methiodide suggest that the mechanism of the thermospray fragmentation pathway is similar to that of the Hofmann elimination reaction.  相似文献

An HPLC method has been developed for separation and determination of long alkyl chain quaternary ammonium compounds. A column packed with a hydrophilic polymer packing, Shodex Asahipak GF-310 HQ, and a water–acetonitrile mixture containing 4,4′-bipyridyl and hydrochloric acid were used to depress hydrophobic adsorption of the quaternary ammonium compounds and increase the sensitivity of the conductometric detection with a micromembrane suppressor. Dodecyltrimethylammonium, cetyltrimethylammonium, tetradecyldimethylbenzylammonium and stearyltrimethylammonium ions can be completely separated from one another and quantified at 0.1 nmol level.  相似文献

The reproducibility of the ferron method for aluminium has been greatly improved by the addition of cetyltrimethylammonium chloride (CTMAC). The improvement is attributed to reduction of the reagent blank and increased stability of Al(ferron)(3-)(3). The aluminium-ferron complex formed in the presence of CTMAC has an absorption peak at 385 nm. The interference from iron can be eliminated by application of a correction based on measurement at two wavelengths.  相似文献

In strongly alkaline medium (more than 0.1 N NaOH) hexanitrodiphenylamine anion reacts with base. The reaction is rather slow and is partly reversible.Quaternary ammonium ions can be determined by extraction of their hexanitrodiphenylamine complexes with chloroform or methylene chloride at pH 11 or with methylene chloride from 3N NaOH. Only the latter method is applicable to compounds containing several quaternary ammonium groups. The compounds extracted have high molar extinction and good stability. Quaternary ammonium ions can be determined in the presence of amines, and in some cases determination of quaternary ammonium ions in admixture is possible.  相似文献

The pyrolysis of a range of simple quaternary ammonium salts in aqueous solution has been studied by gas chromatographic procedures. The results indicate that the structure of the cation governs the thermal stability and breakdown pattern of the salts, the nature of the anion having no apparent effect on the process. The mechanism of the decomposition is discussed as is the potential of aqueous pyrolysis—gas chromatography for analytical studies of quaternary ammonium salts in general.  相似文献

Supramolecular aggregates of tetraalkylammonium halides (R4NX) are formed by electrospray out of acetonitrile solution. Mass spectrometry reveals 88 charged aggregates for R= Me, Et, Bu; X= Br, I, ranging up to [(Bu4N)39Br42]3- in size. With the objective of improving calculations of intermolecular energies for supramolecular aggregates of ions, calibrated semi-empirical potentials for inter-ion interactions have been developed and applied to these aggregates. The accuracy of the calculated energies is supported by the measured collisional dissociation energy of (Et4N+)4 (I-)5. Energy optimisations indicate that the probable structures have the halide ions dispersed in a matrix of cations, which, for Bu4N+, can be mutually attractive. The aggregates are structurally fluid, with multiple structures separated by 4-8 kJmol(-1). The energy calculations are entirely consistent with the observed formation of large aggregates, and of multiply charged anions. It is estimated that the cohesive energies of supramolecular assemblies of ions such as these reach about 40 kJmol(-1) per constituent ion.  相似文献

The reactions between quaternary ammonium ionic liquids ([Me3NC2H4OH]+[Zn2Cl5], abbrev. Ch-Zn2Cl5) and one-electron oxidant (SO4•−), have been studied by nano-second laser photolysis techniques. The mechanism of monophotonic ionization by 266 nm laser excitation was suggested and the quantum yield was estimated to be 0.04. The second-order decay rate constant of SO4•− oxidation reactions at 460 nm, 1.3 × 109 M−1 s−1, was almost equal to the product rate constant of 1.5 × 109 M−1 s−1 at 320 nm in Ch-Zn2Cl5 aqueous solution showing that the decay and the product were synchronic. Comparison of Ch-Zn2Cl5 with chloride choline and ZnCl2 showed that the anion Zn2Cl5 played an important role in photoionization while choline cation had little function on its photolysis and radiolysis. The present study would be helpful for understanding the application of ionic liquids in the field of electrochemical deposition.  相似文献

The mechanism of palladium extraction by trilaurylamine and trilaurylmethylammonium nitrate from nitric acid solutions was studied. The composition of the extracted compounds was determined by the Job method as well as by organic phase saturation. A conductometric method is proposed for the determination of quaternary ammonium salts (chloride or bromide), based on the poor solubility of the relative perchlorates. A comparison between expected and found values shows that the method is suitable, rapid, and easy for quantities in the range from 0.2 to 5 g. The error depends on the solubility of the relative perchlorate. The apparent and tentative solubility product of the studied compounds were calculated. The obtained values allowed to propose benzyltributyl ammonium chloride (BTBA Cl) as precipitant for the conductometric titration of perchlorate. This easy, rapid and accurate determination can be used to analyze the perchlorate ion even in concentrated solutions and to determine stability constants for complex formation in aqueous solutions.  相似文献
