We report molecular dynamics results for the contact values of the radial distribution functions of binary additive mixtures of hard disks. The simulation data are compared with theoretical predictions from expressions proposed by Jenkins and Mancini [J. Appl. Mech. 54, 27 (1987)] and Santos et al. [J. Chem. Phys. 117, 5785 (2002)]. Both theories agree quantitatively within a very small margin, which renders the former still a very useful and simple tool to work with. The latter (higher-order and self-consistent) theory provides a small qualitative correction for low densities and is superior especially in the high-density domain.  相似文献

An improved device was proposed for the fractionation and preconcentration of particles and macromolecules. The device provides new means for the separation of water components. In the proposed method, a tangential flow of the test solution is passed through a series of successive membranes with decreasing pore size. The method was applied to the fractionation of low-mineralized water (Ty va Arzhaanes) with low concentrations of trace components.  相似文献

The computations of the association constants K(ass) were performed at the microscopic level for the ion pair Cy(+)I(-) composed of the complex cyanine dye cation Cy(+) coupled to the negative iodine counterion. The wide array of K(ass) values is arranged by a variation of the composition of the binary solvent mixtures toluene/dimethylsulfoxide with the accompanying change of the solvent polarity. The potentials of mean force (PMFs) are calculated for a set of interionic separations R in the Cy(+)I(-) by a methodology which combines the quantum-chemical techniques for the treatment of the electronic structure of the Cy(+)I(-) system with the recent dielectric continuum approach which accounts for the solvation effects. For a given solute/solvent system the probability function P(R), which describes the distribution of interionic separations, is constructed in terms of the PMFs and implemented for the evaluation of the K(ass).  相似文献

Given a general, N-particle Hamiltonian operator, analogs of the Hohenberg-Kohn theorem are derived for functions that are more general than the particle density, including density matrices and the diagonal elements thereof. The generalization of Lieb's Legendre transform ansatz to the generalized Hohenberg-Kohn functional not only solves the upsilon-representability problem for these entities, but, more importantly, also solves the N-representability problem. Restricting the range of operators explored by the Legendre transform leads to a lower bound on the true functional. If all the operators of interest are incorporated in the restricted maximization, however, the variational principle dictates that exact results are obtained for the systems of interest. This might have important implications for practical work not only for density matrices but also for density functionals. A follow-up paper will present a useful alternative approach to the upsilon- and N-representability problems based on the constrained search formalism.  相似文献

The (E)-2-hydroxy-5-(aryldiazenyl) benzaldehydes (azo dyes 1–4 ) were synthesized in high purity. As they are insoluble in water, the usual analytical methods cannot be utilized to determine their pKa values. Cyclic voltammetry was experimentally used to determine their pKa values in DMSO solvent. In addition, computational methods and a conductor-like screening model (COSMO) were used to calculate the solvent effect. , , Kexchange, and pKa values were estimated for the azo dyes being studied using the BP86, TPSS, B3LYP, PBE0, TPSSh, and PW6B95 density functionals in def2-TZVP basis sets. The obtained mean absolute deviations (MADs) indicate that the results of BP86, PBE0, and PW6B95 functionals are in good agreement with experimental values.  相似文献

A sensitive, integrated top-down liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS) approach, suitable for the near complete characterization of specific proteins in complex protein mixtures, such as inclusion bodies of an E. coli lysate, has been successfully developed using a hybrid linear ion trap/Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTICR) mass spectrometer. In particular, human growth hormone (hGH) (200 fmol) was analyzed with high sequence coverage (>95%), including the sites of disulfide linkages. The high mass accuracy and resolution of the FTICR mass spectrometer was used to reveal high charge state ions of hGH (22 kDa). The highly charged intact protein ions (such as the 17+ species) were captured and fragmented in the linear ion trap cell. The fragment ions from MS/MS spectra were then successfully analyzed in the FTICR cell in an on-line LC/MS run. Peptide fragments from the N-terminal and C-terminal regions, as well as large interior fragments, were captured and identified. The results allowed the unambiguous assignment of disulfide bonds Cys53-Cys165 and Cys182-Cys189, indicative of proper folding of hGH. The disulfide bond assignments were also confirmed by analysis of the tryptic digest of a sample of hGH purified from inclusion bodies. On-line LC/MS with the linear ion trap/FTICR yields high mass accuracy in both the MS and MS/MS modes (within 2 ppm with external calibration). The approach should prove useful in biotechnology applications to characterize correctly folded proteins, both in the early protein expression and the later processed stages, using only a single automated on-line LC/MS top-down method.  相似文献

These gas-phase reactions were studied by pulsed laser ablation of an iron target to produce Fe(+) in a fast flow tube, with detection of the ions by quadrupole mass spectrometry. Fe(+).N(2) and Fe(+).O(2) were produced by injecting N(2) and O(2), respectively, into the flow tube. FeO(+) was produced from Fe(+) by addition of N(2)O, or by ligand-switching from Fe(+).N(2) following the addition of atomic O. The following rate coefficients were measured: k(FeO(+) + O --> Fe(+) + O(2), 186-294 K) = (3.2 +/- 1.5) x 10(-11); k(Fe(+).N(2) + O --> FeO(+)+ N(2), 294 K) = (4.6 +/- 2.5) x 10(-10); k(Fe(+).O(2) + O --> FeO(+) + O(2), 294 K) = (6.3 +/- 2.7) x 10(-11); and k(FeO(+) + CO --> Fe(+) + CO(2), 294 K) = (1.59 +/- 0.34) x 10(-10) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1), where the quoted uncertainties are a combination of the 1sigma standard errors in the kinetic data and the systematic experimental errors. The surprisingly slow reaction between FeO(+) and O is examined using ab initio quantum calculations of the relevant potential energy surfaces. The importance of this reaction for controlling the lifetime of sporadic E layers is then demonstrated using a model of the upper mesosphere and lower thermosphere.  相似文献

Equations were derived, in a general form, for the calculation of the total cell e.m.f. for cells containing liquid junctions of constant ionic medium type, where formation of strong complexes takes place. The total cell e.m.f. is: EJ = E0J + (g/zJ) log cJfJTS2 + ED + EDf Here, (A+, Y-) is the ionic medium, J is the potential-determining ion, Bz(B)+ is the central metal ion, ED is the ideal diffusion potential (Henderson term), EDf is the contribution of the activity coefficients to the diffusion potential, AyL is the ligand. fJTS2 denotes the activity coefficients in the terminal solution TS2. The concentration of a chosen ion of the ionic medium, C, should be in the range 0.5 < or = C < or = 3 mol dm-3. The charge of the metal ion Bz(B)+ should be < or = 3. The total potential anomalies in the cells are delta EJ = (g/zJ) log fJTS2 + ED + EDf  相似文献

X-band e.s.r. and optical absorption spectra of the imidazolate bridged heterobimetallic complexes [(tren)Cu-E-Im-Zn-(tren)](ClO(4))(3) and [(tren)Cu-E-Im-Ni-(tren)](ClO(4))(3), where trentris(2-aminoethyl)amine, E-Im=2-ethylimidazolate ion and the related mononuclear complexes [Cu(tren)](ClO(4))(2) and [(tren)Cu-E-ImH)](ClO(4))(2) have been described. Biological activities (superoxide dismutase and antimicrobial) have also been measured and compared with reported complexes.  相似文献
